Hello all,

I wake up almost every day to a little flurry of emails from Substack telling me that free subscribers are dropping out from the podcast. When it comes to paid subscribers, this happens also but much less frequently and, given the state of all our finances at the moment, I understand completely if people want to prune the number of subscriptions they have; I’ve had to do it myself.

But for the free subscribers who cancel, I’m not told why and it’s beginning to concern me that perhaps we’re failing to give our subscribers what they signed up for. If you’re one of those free subscribers who have been considering cancelling, I’d really like to know why. What could we be doing better, or more of, or less of? This information would help us to improve the show for you and therefore, maybe persuade more people to stay and - who knows - maybe take out a PAID subscription!
