As a friendly reminder, league dues were not collected at the start of the season, so very soon here it will be time to square things up with our winners! My goal is to have the payout plan finalized in the next few days (list of who owes who in order to square everything up). I’ll send out a final wrap-up email with those payout instructions & more information soon, so be on the lookout!

Overall Standings - The Top 50

A big time congrats to Mr. Carter Burmester, our 2026 FGL Champion! An absolutely dominant performance this season… 29/33 made cuts, 23 Top 25’s, 12 Top 10’s, and 5 winners (plus four runner-ups!). Carter hit the early season Cam Young jackpot ($4.5M at The Players), then jumped out to the overall lead after nailing the Fitz-bros back-to-back wins (Matt at RBC Heritage + Alex at the Zurich) and never looked back. And then closed it out with an emphatic Wyndham Clark winner in the final week — well done and well deserved!

And he’s still alive! A giant shout-out to Eric Johnson, who is now the second person in FGL history to go an entire season without missing a cut! Thirty-three for thirty-three. So good.

Is this achievement diminished slightly because nearly one-third of these events no longer have a cut? Maybe. But we’re not going to talk about that. This is still some incredibly impressive consistency.

Other Prizes

The Best of the Winless award (participant that accumulates the most season-long tournament earnings without ever picking a tournament winner)… goes to David Hatch. They say “even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile.” Unfortunately David is still searching for his. Nearly 500 people in the league picked a winner this year… Mr. Hatch just couldn’t get one across the line, but still nearly managed to crack the top 125 in the overall standings. Impressive stuff! Well, kind of…

The Most T10’s from the Non-Placers award (most Top 10 Finishes by a participant outside of the Top 50 in the overall standings)… goes to Jake Edwards. A small consolation prize for getting leap-frogged by the Wyndham folks in the final week and dropping from 37th to 58th place. Fourteen top 10’s was only bettered by two people in the entire league, he just couldn’t find enough big money winners to crack that top 50.

And finally, the Dead Friggin Last award (participant that accumulates the fewest season-long tournament earnings despite making picks for all events, avoiding duplicate picks, and making 2/3rds of the cuts)… goes to JR Gray. A whopping $2.1M accumulated across 33 picks. Truly pathetic stuff. Was there a clear inflection point incredibly early in the contest where JR started leaning into the pathetic-ness? Yes. Will this award be brought back again next year? That’s a hard TBD.

RECAP: FedEx St. Jude Championship

The 2026 FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind delivered a dominant performance from Scottie Scheffler, who opened the FedExCup Playoffs by running away from the field for an eight-shot victory at 17-under par.

Scheffler set the tone on Friday with a spectacular 9-under 61, tying the course record with 11 birdies and taking a three-shot lead into the weekend. He followed it with a steady 68 on Saturday before putting the tournament away Sunday with another 4-under 66.

Si Woo Kim finished solo second at 9-under, while Sam Burns and Viktor Hovland shared third. Scheffler’s eight-shot margin was never seriously threatened on Sunday, turning what had been a competitive playoff opener into a runaway.

The victory was especially significant for Scheffler, ending a 203-day, 16-event winless drought dating back to his victory at The American Express in January. It marked his 21st career PGA Tour victory and his second win of the 2026 season.

The event also carried major FedExCup implications, with only the top 50 advancing to the BMW Championship. Sungjae Im played his way from 53rd to 40th, while Jordan Spieth narrowly missed the cut for the next playoff event.

Bellerive Country Club returns to the PGA Tour spotlight for the first time since hosting the 2018 PGA Championship, when Brooks Koepka won at 16-under. The classic St. Louis layout has been lengthened for the modern game and should place a premium on driving, long-iron play, and avoiding mistakes on its demanding par-4s.

The 2026 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club delivered a breakthrough regular-season finale, as Michael Brennan captured his second PGA Tour title and punched his ticket into the FedExCup Playoffs.

Brennan entered Sunday tied for the lead at 16-under par alongside Beau Hossler, with Tom Kim just one shot back. Rather than letting the pressure of the playoff bubble and a potential second career victory get to him, Brennan delivered a composed final round and finished at 22-under par, good for a three-shot victory over Hossler.

Hossler, still searching for his first PGA Tour victory, remained in the hunt throughout the final round but couldn’t keep pace with Brennan’s steady scoring. The victory was especially significant given Brennan’s position entering the week—he jumped from No. 105 to No. 47 in the FedExCup standings, going from outside the playoff field to safely inside the top 70.

For Brennan, the win adds another chapter to a remarkable rise. His first PGA Tour victory came at the 2025 Bank of Utah Championship, and he now becomes the second straight Wake Forest alum to win the Wyndham, following Cameron Young’s victory in 2025.

The Wyndham also delivered plenty of playoff drama, with Jackson Koivun hanging onto the final No. 70 spot while several veterans—including Keegan Bradley, Jason Day, and Tony Finau—were left out.

The 2026 Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club delivered a breakthrough moment for Michael Thorbjornsen, who captured his first PGA Tour victory with a spectacular Sunday charge.

Thorbjornsen entered the final round one shot off the lead before firing a brilliant 7-under 63 to finish at 18-under par. The former Stanford star caught fire on the back nine, highlighted by a chip-in birdie at the 12th and a clutch 25-foot birdie putt on the 18th, turning a tightly packed leaderboard into a convincing three-shot victory.

The biggest challenge came from Xander Schauffele, who closed with a strong round to finish solo second at 15-under. Davis Riley, the 54-hole leader, struggled to maintain his advantage on Sunday and settled for third after a costly bogey on the 17th.

For Thorbjornsen, the victory was the culmination of years of lofty expectations. After several close calls and 65 career PGA Tour starts, the 24-year-old finally broke through, becoming the eighth first-time winner on Tour this season.

The 2026 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities delivered the arrival of golf’s next superstar, as Jackson Koivun captured his first PGA Tour victory in just his third professional start.

Koivun entered Sunday holding a three-shot lead and never let the moment overwhelm him, carding a bogey-free 5-under 66 to finish at a tournament-record 25-under par. The 21-year-old showcased remarkable poise throughout the final round, repeatedly answering every challenge with clutch birdies and steady pars to secure a three-shot victory.

The biggest challenge came from Scottie Scheffler, who fired a brilliant 8-under 63 to briefly apply pressure from ahead of the leaders. But Koivun responded with birdies on the 12th and 16th holes, restoring his cushion before calmly parring his way home. The 2026 The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale Golf Club delivered a thrilling finish, as Ryan Fox captured his first major championship with a clutch birdie on the 72nd hole.

Fox began Sunday two shots behind the lead but steadily climbed the leaderboard before producing the shot of the tournament when it mattered most. After crushing a drive down the 18th fairway, he knocked his approach to 11 feet and calmly buried the birdie putt to finish at 10-under par, one shot clear of the field.

Cameron Young posted a sensational 6-under 64 several groups ahead to grab the clubhouse lead at 9-under, but a closing bogey left the door open. Fox walked through it in spectacular fashion, while 54-hole leader Sam Burns faded to third after an up-and-down final round.

The 2026 Corales Puntacana Championship at Corales Golf Course produced another breakthrough winner, as Stefano Mazzoli rallied from four shots back to earn his first PGA Tour victory.

Mazzoli fired a brilliant final-round 6-under 66 to finish at 18-under par, taking advantage of windy conditions that tested every contender. His comeback culminated with a birdie on the 72nd hole, giving him the outright lead and capping one of the day’s best rounds.

The 2026 Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club delivered a long-awaited breakthrough, as Tom Kim returned to the winner’s circle for the first time in more than 1,000 days. Kim closed with a brilliant bogey-free 6-under 64 to finish at 17-under par, securing a two-shot victory over Min Woo Lee.

Entering Sunday in contention, Kim quickly separated himself with a flurry of birdies and never gave the field an opening. His elite iron play and calm demeanor shined throughout the final round, especially on the back nine, where he repeatedly converted key par saves and birdie chances.

Min Woo Lee applied pressure for much of the afternoon but could never fully close the gap, ultimately settling for solo second at 15-under. Meanwhile, Robert MacIntyre, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Johnny Keefer were among a large group tied for third at 13-under.

The 2026 ISCO Championship at Hurstbourne Country Club delivered plenty of drama, as Steven Fisk captured his second PGA Tour title after surviving a tense three-hole playoff against Taylor Pendrith.

Fisk entered Sunday near the top of a crowded leaderboard and carded a steady final-round 67 to finish at 16-under par. The tournament remained tight throughout the afternoon, with multiple players briefly sharing the lead before Fisk and Pendrith separated themselves late.

The win marked Fisk’s second PGA Tour victory, adding to his breakthrough triumph at the 2025 Sanderson Farms Championship and continuing his rise on Tour.

The Corales Puntacana Championship serves as the PGA Tour’s alternate-field event opposite The Open Championship, providing an excellent opportunity for players outside the major field to secure a PGA Tour victory, a two-year exemption, and valuable FedExCup points. The Tom Fazio-designed Corales Golf Course is a lengthy coastal layout featuring wide fairways, paspalum greens, and the famous closing stretch known as the “Devil’s Elbow,” where ocean winds can dramatically influence the tournament outcome. Birdies are available, but changing conditions and strong coastal breezes often reward experienced wind players and those comfortable on resort-style setups.

The 2026 John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run produced another thrilling Sunday finish, as Chris Gotterup erased a five-shot deficit with a spectacular closing charge to claim his third PGA Tour victory of the season.

Gotterup caught fire from the opening tee, pouring in nine birdies during a brilliant final-round 9-under 62 to finish at 20-under par. Playing several groups ahead of the leaders, he posted the clubhouse lead and could only wait as the final pairing tried to chase him down.

The drama peaked on the 72nd hole. Ben Kohles, needing par to force a playoff, pulled his approach into the water and made a devastating double bogey, dropping from a share of the lead into a tie for third. Meanwhile, Max Homa made a furious back-nine charge with four straight birdies, but his closing 64 left him one shot short at 19-under.

For Gotterup, the victory carried extra meaning with his brother, Patrick, filling in as caddie while his regular looper was home following the birth of his child. It also marked his fifth career PGA Tour title, capping one of the hottest stretches in golf.

The Renaissance Club offers a true links-style examination with firm fairways, pot bunkers, fescue rough, and ever-changing coastal winds off the Firth of Forth. Success typically comes to players who can control ball flight, excel in windy conditions, and display creativity around the greens, making this one of the best indicators of form heading into golf’s oldest major.

Hurstbourne is a classic parkland layout that rewards accurate driving, strong wedge play, and consistent putting, creating an ideal stage for emerging stars and veterans alike to contend.

The 2026 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands delivered a dramatic finish that spilled into Monday morning, where Viktor Hovland outlasted Scottie Scheffler in a sudden-death playoff to capture his eighth PGA Tour title.

On the first playoff hole, both players hit excellent approach shots, but Hovland buried a 10-foot birdie putt to apply the pressure. Scheffler, facing a birdie attempt from just a few feet away to extend the playoff, unexpectedly missed, handing Hovland the victory.

Collin Morikawa made the biggest Sunday charge with a spectacular 9-under 61 to finish solo third at 20-under, just one shot shy of the playoff after posting the clubhouse lead hours before the final groups finished.

For Hovland, the victory ended a lengthy winless stretch and provided a huge confidence boost heading into the heart of the summer schedule. At TPC River Highlands, one clutch putt—and one surprising miss—made all the difference.
