“Flower medicine teaches us to expand our perceptions. Like us, each flower carries its own unique energetic signature that goes beyond initial appearances. Nature is the ultimate teacher of home frequency attunement. Each plant grows its authentic Expression, and no flower compares itself to another’s medicine. The plant kingdom guides us to remember our innate gifts with the most subtle of teachings. Only a single drop of a flower essence can create a profound shift from within.”

As the rain poured in on a warm evening in July, with a cup of honeyed tea by my side, I got to thinking about what it means to be in tune with our medicine. Our medicine being the aspect of us that can heal and renew us back to health, back to harmony.

I think it’s important to know what your medicine is. Not only is it important to identify what’s good for you, but it’s just as important to identify what about you, is your medicine. What aspect of you has the ability to heal, inspire, the ability to uplift? This is your medicine, a substance meant to sustain you from within. Identifying these qualities of self can assist you in developing a deeper sense of resilience.

For instance, part of my medicine is the well spring of my heart. I’m well aware that the devotion, love, and warmth I embody & am able to give is rare and this is part of what makes me, a rarity. We all encase something that makes us rare, unique. It’s all a matter of looking inside, feeling into the threads of who you really are and moving from that space.

Who are you underneath the layers? Who were you before the world told you who to be, how to be.. Invite yourself into the corridors of inner space, this is where you’ll begin to discover the medicine of your limitless nature. If you can believe it, your inner space is just as vast as outer space, it’s all a matter of relativity.

I’d start with noticing, taking note of your innate fascinations. These are context clues, that will lead you back to you. Follow your fascinations with curiosity, allowing them to guide you into the labyrinth of your inner cosmos until you reach the heart. Right there. Breathe into that space and feel how it begins to expand with every exhalation.

The heart is not merely a destination but a well of infinite intelligence ebbing and flowing itself into being. A graceful, steady valve of vitality and beauty. A generator of life & light.

Feel into what’s underneath the skin, into your original spark, and see how this sensibility begins to radiate throughout your entire being.

I also think it’s valuable to cultivate a physical tool box, a cabinet of curiosities; a collection of objects, trinkets, plants, symbols, books, materials, and playlists that represent and reflect the value of your medicine. I think the art of collecting things that speak to you and your sensibilities can be a fortifying tool.

It can be very simple things as long as they ring with resonance and meaning for you. This is something I’d take my time with too. It’s less about consumption and more about a collection of the self, outside of the self, as a reflection of.

For me one of those tools is my pen, I’m a writer who’s been able to discover, reimagine, and share of myself with the flow of a pen. & I am grateful for this.

Writing has always been a therapeutic mode of expression for me, but was something I kept close and personal for many years. With the exception of lyrics I’ve written for the music I’ve made.

But what are your tools?

Consecrate your tool box as a treasure chest reflective of the treasure within, and let that support you. To be in tune with your medicine does not make you immune to lifes challenges, but it does equip you to neutralize their impact. Redirecting you into the middle path, the path to center.

Medicine represents fortification, protection, and reconciliation. It’s important to know what your medicine is. To bathe and immerse yourself within the well of your essential nature. Letting it renew you back to health, back to harmony.

The thing about pure authenticity is that it tends to awaken courage in the hearts of others, to be more of who they really are. & that alone is a kind of medicine. In a world fixated on the artificial & the superficial you get to choose to be tapped into the substantial, the sap, the honey, the timelessness of the present moment.

Nature exemplifies this sentiment beautifully. The way each flower blooms into the fullness of its medicine in its own time, offering its specific energetic signature within the context of its ecology.

The way each flower owns its beauty without the need to compare its value to another. The way the trees support one another via mycelium networks underneath, whilst also standing firm in the beauty of their individual mythologies.

Nature teaches us about proper energetic boundaries, how to be intricately connected to community whilst also being grounded in the essence of our individuality.

Your medicine is your fortress, your lighthouse. It’ll guide you and guard you if you’ll listen. This guardianship seeks to protect you from what was never meant to meet you past the gates. Remember, anything worth keeping will never require you to abandon your fortress in order to keep it.

Our medicine is the thing that restores us. Lightening our load and alchemizing our woes into wisdom. Grace. Your deepest wounds can be some of your greatest teachers, some of your most potent reserves of power if you let them.

As I write this, I intend to let these words register within me as a letter of remembrance. I also write this for anyone who may’ve needed a reminder of their rarity, their medicine.

This is the spiral path inward, into the labyrinth of infinite space. The rhythmic undulation into the center. Remember, discovering your medicine is not a destination, but a well of infinite intelligence ebbing and flowing its way into being. Just as the heart ebbs and flows itself into being. Just as you, are ebbing and flowing your way into being.

Beauty is a subject I’ve been passionate about for as long as I can remember. Since I was a child I have sought out beauty in its various forms as a tool for emotional regulation and even inspiration. There’s something intrinsically medicinal about beauty that I am forever curious about, and this is what we’ll be exploring in this article.

So before beauty materializes in form, it begins as an energetic, a frequency. It is said that harmony is the prerequisite of beauty, in other words harmony is considered to be the foundation of beauty, so to build a microcosm or world of beauty is to first establish a foundation rooted in harmony, symmetry, & proportion.

Learning to create harmony can take practice, patience, and a tempering of the scales but once the middle ground is found, it becomes the foundation in which the structure of beauty can be built upon.

When I feel into the energetics of beauty I feel a sense of calm wash over me, a sense of interconnectivity. Like a star nestled within a constellation, or a rose opening towards the light of the sun. I feel like a delicate flower who’s deeply nourished by the soil beneath it. Essentially, I feel good.

The ancients referred to beauty as the flowering of virtue, beauty as a tool for inner refinement and elevation of the soul. Plato, the philosopher described the sight of beauty as causing the soul to “grow wings” and honestly, I’d have to wholeheartedly agree.

I used to shy away from my love for the beautiful in fear that it made me superficial or contradicted my depths, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve come to realize it actually informs my depth, and has assisted me in transforming some of the heaviness of my past into lightness and lived wisdom.

True beauty is nourishment, it has a way of filling spaces that were once vacant, transforming emptiness into intricate fullness. The great Kahlil Gibran once said “beauty is eternity gazing as itself in the mirror. but you are eternity and you are the mirror”. I think of this quote often and it pulls me into a space of remembrance. Remembering to bask in the innate beauty of simply being.

In the process of cultivating inner beauty, I believe in working with the elements as they want to support and be in communion with you. Let the waters renew, hydrate, and lubricate you, and the richness of the soils ground you into being, neutralizing and nourishing you from within. Let the fire warm and ignite you, burning away falsities so that your true radiance can be revealed, and the air breathe new life into you, carrying you through the winds of change. Let the buzzing of the bees remind you that you are apart of a living ecosystem of great beauty and support.

The more you work with the elements, the more the elements will reveal themselves to you, through you.

Creating an inner world of beauty extends and radiates outward. Subsequently attracting more beauty, more depth of detail grounded in form. Beauty has a way of enriching the very substance of life, and has enriched my own in a way that literally makes me well up with emotion sometimes.

There’s an atmospheric quality to beauty that I think is not spoken about enough. Beauty has the ability to shift and elevate a space & clear the mind. A kind of generosity that invites you to immerse yourself within the embrace of its wings.

This is what the study of Neuroaesthetics speaks to. Which is a branch of neuroscience that studies the way beauty affects us on a neurological and biological level. It studies the way music, art, dance, theater, literature, and landscape help to treat a number of disorders, and can improve the quality of one’s life.

For instance, have you ever walked into a museum and felt your nervous system relax as it enters a curated space of beauty and imagination? Or have you ever entered a cathedral that was so geometrically sound that you found yourself breathing deeper into the geometry of your own body? The way a sacred space can refresh you into harmonic states of being is so fascinating to me, and this is what the field of Neuroaesthetics is working to make sense of.

Ultimately, beauty is a frequency that animates matter, essence distilling itself into form. So when one wants to feel beautiful I’d start with thinking beautiful thoughts, getting to the heart of the matter, engaging one’s senses with the beauty of the world around you. Going outside and smelling the roses, basking in the light of the sun, feeling into the intelligence of the soil beneath your feet, listening to the melodies of the birds and the bees, tuning into the beauty of the little things that we often take for granted within the hustle of modern day living.

Notice how the harmony of nature begins to reestablish harmony within the living architecture of your body.

Architecting beauty is about reestablishing divine order & rhythm within and around you. Setting a tone that is resonant and harmonic. & sometimes to establish order we must first initiate chaos and disorder. Taking things apart to put them back together in a more harmonic sequence.

There is a communal aspect to beauty as well, it brings people together. What concerts, gardens, ballet recitals, & art exhibits all have in common, is that they each have a way of bringing people together in a shared experience of beauty. It speaks to the harmony of inter connectivity.

Aesthetics is not only a visual thing, but an atmospheric one. It tends to have a fermenting effect on the psyche. & from that space, there is a distillation of harmony grounded in physical form.

Beauty can offer a citadel of protection when cultivated from within. In a world that can be hardening I think beauty offers us a softening, a liquidity. As well as a structure, and foundation.

I’d invite you to make some time, even if it’s only a few minutes to gaze into a mirror to notice and appreciate the constellation of your features. The beauty of your individuality lies in the intricacy of your details. Make time to really notice them. Beyond that feel into your essence, by cultivating presence, becoming clear and grounded in who you are beyond the mirror. Remember you are eternity, and you are the mirror.

I’d also invite you to add something, even if it’s just one thing of beauty into your day to day. Something that softens you into the nectar of the present moment. To cultivate beauty is to cultivate a way of being.

To architect beauty is to create space for harmony to flourish. Getting to the heart of the matter and letting beauty blossom from that space.

Part of the reason I started this publication was to cultivate community around a shared curiosity for beauty & wisdom; exploring the connectivity between the two. Essentially alchemy is about turning density into lightness, venom into wisdom, and pain into power. Alchemy speaks to the relationship between dissolution and integration, fragmentation back into a state of wholeness. & whether we realize it or not, we’ve all been called into the initiatory thresholds of transfiguration at least once in our lives. Be it a heavy load we are meant to make light, or a painful experience we are meant to turn into personal power. Transforming what was meant to drain us into a well of regeneration. Lead into pure gold.

The great work of the alchemist is to become a conduit and composer within the intimate relationship between the earth and the heavens. To become an instrument of resonance and transmutation.

The great work, or magnum opus is a continuum that places less emphasis on the destination and more focus on the beauty of the process. The beauty of becoming. This is a process of self mastery, the art of illuminating and emanating what lives dormant within you. To cultivate a body of great work through music, fine artistry, or even literature is an alchemical feat.

To take an experience from your base of reality and turn it into a body of work with everlasting life is alchemical, and quite literally magical if you ask me. Alchemy is a process of refinement, regeneration, and illumination. A process of breaking something down, to reconfigure it and give it new life. This is the beauty and responsibility of the alchemist, of the true artist.

Alchemy is a practice, an ongoing conversation between the elements, the celestial sun, and the instrument of the body. & in order to achieve the great work one must actively engage in this conversation.

The philosophers stone, or the stone of the wise is a substance that reestablishes harmony within the instrument of the body, allowing the song of your soul to be distinctly expressed through whichever medium you choose. To be a poet, a painter, a musician, a chef, a dancer, a designer is to be an instrument of the divine; when approached from a space that is fine tuned and resonant.

And as someone who is emotionally nourished by expressions of beauty and harmony, I find solace, purpose even in the process of restoring harmony within. So that I may become an instrument within the garden of this jeweled earth, an instrument of the divine design.

& It’s funny, just when I think I have a clear understanding of myself and my work in this life, life itself has a way of reminding me that I could always go deeper. Sometimes through pleasure, sometimes pain, sometimes through love, and sometimes grief.. But always with the purpose of guiding me back into the simplicity and sophistication of truth and innate wisdom.

Alchemy is a process of attunement, a process of atonement. & speaking of process, I think this is a good time to speak on the 7 stages of alchemy, naming them and briefly describing the functionality in each stage. I want to provide a clear and comprehensive outline of the process not for you to intellectualize it, but for you to feel into it & possibly discover which aspect you are currently moving through.

Alchemy is initiatory, initiating the practitioner into deeper octaves of the self. Burning away falsities and densities so that only essence remains. A trial by fire so to speak. Your essence is the substance that makes you essential within the living ecosystem of reality. Let’s journey into the corridors of alchemy, I invite you to take your time reading and feeling into the different stages.

So there’s calcination, dissolution, separation, conjunction, fermentation, distillation, then coagulation:

1. Calcination, to calcine something is to burn it until it’s reduced to ashes, purification by fire.

2. Dissolution, involves purification by water, water is known as the universal solvent for its ability to dissolve other substances.

3. Separation, purification by air, the process of dissolution brings forth many of our inner workings from their watery depths to be examined in the light of consciousness. In separation, we are further refining our psyche by disbanding our attachments to the artificial self from our authentic one. Separation of the elements allows us to observe them more clearly.

4. Conjunction, this stage is a reuniting of the soul & body after the 3 stages of purification. This is the part of the great work where we begin operating from a higher intelligence. The conjunction provides a bed for the royal marriage between the feminine and masculine. The alchemical marriage between the inner King & Queen.

5. Fermentation, the stage of fermentation is also a metaphor for pregnancy. The ferment acts as a fertilizer for the soul. It’s similar to the catapillars metamorphosis into the butterfly. Within its cocoon the butterfly releases enzymes that dissolves all of its tissues, liquifying it into a soup that reorganizes itself into the blueprint of a butterfly.

6. Distillation, this is the process of boiling the elixirs to increase purity. In distillation many bitter or sharp things become very sweet like honey, sugar, or manna..there are no impurities left, and the environment for spiritual apotheosis is attained.

7. Coagulation or Crystallization, in this stage the perfect substance is found. The maturity is finally achieved and the body, spirit, and soul find perfect balance. We witness the rebirth of a new & beautiful being. (The magnum opus) ☉

The great work to me, is about transforming knowledge into essence, and essence into pure expression of the soul. Just as the honeybee gathers nectar, the genetic information of the land; digests it and transfigures it into honey, a sweet substance of timeless beauty and fluidity. An alchemist or fine artist has the ability to turn the density of lived experience into sustenance, into an art form that exemplifies a similar kind of timelessness.

The substance of a work of art is what can take a physically beautiful body of work, and turn it into something transcendental, transformative even. & this is what alchemy speaks to. Transfiguring the physical into something that is deeply spiritual, mystical, and essential.

Know that if you’re not quite sure what your great work is, you could always do the work of making your existence a living art form. Ultimately the great work is you. & if you don’t yet have a medium to express your essence through, begin to express it through the beauty of your being, the beauty of your heart & the architecture of your body.

Take your time in your transformation. Remember that there’s room to grieve the death of the old, as you blissfully embrace the birth of the new. Allow the elements to bathe you back into wholeness, and for the fermentation of your imagination to rise in its potency, so the distillation of your essence begins to fill your physical form. Your metamorphosis is sacred, you are the great work. ☉

Let’s enter into the sunlit, rain drenched enchanted forest of the earth for a bit, shall we? My reverence for the beauty and intelligence of this planet runs deep so I had to make sure to take my time gestating on this piece.

My love affair with the earth began when I was in my early teens. Growing up I rarely felt like I fit in, so naturally I turned to nature for a sense of belonging. & what I found was an embrace so complete, I no longer felt the need to shrink myself into spaces that were simply not aligned. From then on our relationship deepened, growing forever deeper.

I will always have the utmost respect for mother earth and her kingdoms. Earth is a regenerative body, proliferating new life even in the midst of pollution. Providing us so much love, life, and wisdom even when some don’t appreciate her, or take from her without ever offering anything in return. And still, she embodies unconditional love and a true sense of sustainability.

I just hope one day humanity chooses to return to the garden once more, with reverence and adoration for this emerald jewel of a planet.

The earth carries ancient wisdom in its veins, its roots, its trees. There are trees that are thousands of years old, I can’t even fathom the multitude of stories they contain within their bodies.

This planet is an ecosystem of infinite intelligence grounded in form. The biodiversity of earth speaks to the multiplicity of beauty. The same way earthly beauty is quite vast and multifaceted, the beauty of humanity also comes in many shapes, many shades, and many sizes. I find that so fascinating.

When I had moments in my adolescence of questioning my own sense of beauty, nature always brought me back to center, back into the beauty of just being. The way each flower in the plant kingdom has its own signature of beauty, generating its own specific kind of medicine, I believe we as humans have the same kind of capacity. Even in our inter connectivity we are all innately unique.

I love the way no two fingerprints are the same; just as no two tree stumps are the same. Individuality expressing itself within the interconnectivity of nature.

The earth encompasses every element, and each element is needed in order to keep the ecosystem well and alive. Earth nourishes and sustains, while water cleanses and renews, fire warms, ignites, and regenerates, and air or ether enlightens and enlivens us with the breath of life.

The earth grounds us into being, fertilizing the fire of our creativity into form. The physical form of our bodies is a primal composition of interconnection and harmony that has its own rhythms and seasons, just as the body of Earth does.

The greening nature of this planet speaks to its ability to proliferate life and growth. The etymology of the word green literally means growing, living, or of the color of living plants. In ancient texts greenness was said to be an earthly expression of celestial sunlight. Just as the sun invokes and generates life into being, so does the greenness of this earth. As above, so below.

To be held by the great mother, within the sentient intelligence of her crystalline spring waters, within the vastness of her ocean, within the depths of her caves carved by time, To be held within the depths of her mineralized soil is a gift. To be immersed within the garden of beauty and fertility is a gift.

The regenerative body of the earth is lush, wet, fertile, wild with life, rich in wisdom, fruitful and abundant. Saturated in color and glamour, and I am so grateful to be able to commune with her, learn from her, and offer her the medicine of my love in return.

I would encourage anyone to connect with the inspirited nature of earth. Feel into the softness and fluidity of nature. Her vastness, her rhythm, her wisdom, her depth. To be in communion with the elements, with the emerald jewel of the Earth; is to be in deeper communion with the elemental, earthly beauty of your body.

Lately i’ve been feeling a hunger for more life, craving more joy, more beauty, more connectivity, more music, more play, more spice, more life! It feels like an internal spring after a long, cold winter and I am so grateful to be back in bloom.

Developing an appetite for life can truly be an anchor, an internal treasure chest that just keeps on giving. The etymology of the word appetite means to desire or to seek out. & I believe it is important to seek out what we desire in this life. I think our desires are internal clues, roadmaps to the places that inspire and ignite us. I always appreciate the way someone’s face lights up when they are sharing about something they love, the way their excitement is so wholehearted, they can hardly contain it.

To have an appetite for life is to have a reason that keeps you going, like a lantern in the dark that guides you forward. A north star. To have something that you’re seeking in this life gives you focus, a clarity that reorients your inner compass back to center. In a world full of distraction, I think a healthy amount of focus is necessary. Clarity of focus keeps you from engaging in things that deplete you, appetite suppressants so to speak.

I think it’s interesting how popular appetite suppressants have become over the years. The GLP1’s and ozempics that have been advertised everywhere, all the time. I don’t judge people for what they choose to consume or intake, everyone should be able to have agency over their own body. But I do find it fascinating that some of the most well known athletes, admired for their physical strength and vitality are promoting appetite suppressants. Appetite suppressants ask you to shrink yourself whilst nourishment invites you to reconstruct and reassemble, to strengthen.

Real, hearty food is restorative. Fortifying. It promotes the proliferation of life, radiance, vitality, clarity of mind and movement, why would we want to suppress that? Having an appetite is a sign that your body is craving vital information. Which is what real food is.

But, to develop your appetite for life is less about food and more about developing a north star, a return to center. If you’re not sure what yours is, I would get still enough to listen to your inner fascinations, your hearts deepest desires. Even if it’s just ten to fifteen minutes a day, make the time to tune in. Once you’ve become clear on what they are, I would get curious about what those desires reveal to you about yourself.

Become a student of your desire, let it guide you into deeper knowledge about yourself, about your purpose. Then feast on what you discover, do the attentive inner work of seeking out your desires so that you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.

‘Nothing great is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig. If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you there must be time. Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.” Epictetus

Notice how your desires energize you as you energize them. Feel into how what you’re seeking is also seeking you, and has likely always been. This is when a beautiful symbiosis occurs. When what you give life to, offers you life in return. Find ways to celebrate your desire. I find that the more you celebrate life, the more life will give you to celebrate.

I believe the gift of life is worth celebrating. You don’t have to wait for permission or accolades to feel worthy of celebration. Your life, your desires, your sense of purpose and direction is inherently worth the occasion.

What are you hungry for more of? What are you seeking? What do you innocently desire? Let your desires guide you back to the core of who you are and nourish you from that space. Let them excavate more room in you to be filled by your passion, your curiosity, your purpose. Don’t let a world riddled in war strip you of your zest for life.

Develop your appetite for life so you can be energized by it, not depleted. Give life to what vitalizes you, nourishes you, and gives you a sense of deep purpose and just see how much more full and vibrant your life becomes.

I was speaking with one of my favorite people and creatives recently and she reminded me of the power of my imagination, which got me thinking and inspired to write about imagination, as a spiritual technology.

We have the ability to generate and be of service to life itself when we utilize our imagination as spiritual technology. Meaning when we exercise our imagination as a tool, we encourage the ability to transform and reimagine ourselves and the world around us.

In times like these, I think the inner realms of the imagination can be a powerful tool to lay energetic foundations for the kinds of worlds we want to build within and around us. To use your imagination, and to let what you imagine move you into focused action is a beautiful thing.

As artists and creatives, I think we tend to find it quite natural to tune into the imaginal realms of our psyche. To be a creative is to be a vessel of the the ultimate creator. But even those who don’t consider themselves artists have the ability to make creative decisions in their day to day. The way you cook, the way you dress, the way you speak, the way you care for your body can all be creative acts when you approach them artfully.

With the power of our imagination we can create worlds within worlds. The word fantasy itself comes from the term phantasia which means “imagination” or to make visible. I believe in the power of making visible what we see in our minds eye, giving birth to our ideas in physical form.

Using your imagination to imprint on the world around you is quite radical. To have an idea, and to then act on it by taking the steps to actualize said idea is a courageous act, an act that requires heart and intentionality.

As a dreamer myself, i’ve always cherished the transportive and alchemical power of my imagination. The way a daydream has the ability to transport me into desired inner realms of possibility and states of pure bliss. The way an idea can ignite a fire in me that gathers more of itself as a focus in.

To be a dreamer is to be tapped into the collective unconscious, a term coined by Carl Jung. & to be tapped into the collective unconscious is to be in tune with an inherited reservoir of archetypal knowledge, primordial patterning, and symbolism that is universal, and located in the deepest depths of the psyche. When we dream and imagine, we become vessels for infinite currents to express themselves through our individuation.

Making time to delve into your imagination can teach you so much about your inner world. Your wishes, dreams, and desires can be seemingly suspended in air until you ground them in your focused attention.

Letting your imagination move you into new realms of possibility facilitates deeper connectivity with your inner child. The person you were before the world told you who you should be, before the conditioning that tends to happen in school, at home, or in religious institution. The part of you that has no inhibitions or judgements attached to how you organically express yourself.

With the power of our imagination we can breathe new life into the world, and begin to interface the world with the beauty of our creativity. With the transformative power of the imagination we can transfigure our inner world into a rich, exquisite place to be. Using the imagination to bring us into deeper states of reality as opposed to an escape from, is an act of fortification.

By taking the time to explore the vastness of inner space we get to come home to our intricate tapestry of innate beauty and wonder. And from that space we can color the world with more beauty, more creativity, more eccentricity. Which I believe is so necessary in a society that encourages and rewards sameness and algorithmic thinking.

True creativity is what inspires movement, emotionality, and vulnerability. & I don’t know about you, but i’m hungry for more of that. More art that pulls me into the nuances of someones inner world, more expression that evokes raw emotion, more art that rearranges the way I view the world. The world needs our unique perspectives emanated outwardly.

I believe that in order to effect true impactful change in the world, we must first embrace the vastness of our inner worlds. Using your imagination to reclaim forgotten or repressed aspects of the self generates more inner space for your creativity to thrive. You are a very particular configuration of consciousness expressing itself through matter, your imagination matters, your dreams matter.

As someone who’s always led with her heart, I’ve had to learn such potent lessons in love and relationship over the years. The most potent being to tend the garden of my own heart with reverence and presence, returning to the garden once more, and always once more.

I think as women we are taught to give of ourselves to others, be it our partners, our children, or our work before we give ourselves to ourselves. A chronic externalization of our femininity. But I believe that one’s own vessel must first be full in order to overflow, with the ability to give without depletion.

To treat our bodies and hearts as temples so that we may flourish, and become vessels of nourishment, within our families and communities takes devotion. To be a gardener is to know a thing or two about devotion. To be in devotion is to make a vow, a promise and to keep that promise in deed, in practice, in heart, in mind, and in consistency.

I’ve recently decided to make a promise, to remember and reclaim the garden of my heart. To come back home to center and be renewed within the honey of my heart. After a season of heartache i’d forgotten how sweet it is to be here. To be held, enveloped, and nourished within the garden of my heart. But I am now reminded, that this is truly the sweetest, softest, most resilient place to be.

The resilience and intelligence of the heart is something I reflect on often. How the toroidal field of the heart is in constant conversation with the world around it. Epitomizing the art of magnetism, radiance, and receptivity. Just as an earthly garden receives nourishment from its relationship with the sun, the rain, and the gardener. whilst also emanating radiant beauty and earthly wisdom, such is the garden of the heart.

To me, the most beautiful thing about nature is that it ebbs and flows in alignment with the cyclical nature of birth, death, and rebirth. Honoring the cycles of disintegration and integration with grace and surrender. Just as the heart ebbs and flows gracefully, throughout the peaks and valleys of life.

The esoteric connection between the heart and the sun speaks to the infinite nature and vitality of love. I’ve witnessed the way love can revive someone, or something back to life. The way it’s breathing me back to life as we speak. It’s why i’ll always make space for more of it. Heartbreak has only ever excavated more room, more of my capacity to embody and hold love. So I bow, in gratitude to the lessons of my past shaped as lovers or partners alike.

I tend the toroidal field of my heart, ready and open to receive the ways in which the divine wants to fill me, with its eternal love. Ready to pour my sweetest self into the heart of my person, the hearts of my people.

Tend the garden of your heart by cultivating peace and coherence within, breathe deeply into the corridors of your heart with pure presence, and feel how this space breathes life back into you. Nourish your heart with your tears, your joy, your intention and witness your inner world deepen. Enriched by presence.

To love is to garden, it is to water the soil, the substance of the foundation. It is to radiate an inner sun that invites a lush garden to blissfully bloom. Beautiful flora that not only nourishes you, but all that get to bask in the presence of your garden. Take your time with your cultivation. To be a lover is to be a gardener, an instrument and conduit of new life, of new love.

Kintsugi is a japanese term meaning golden joinery or golden repair. It is the art of repairing broken pottery with powdered gold (sometimes platinum or silver). Kintsugi is a poetic art form in the way it highlights and celebrates perceived imperfection.

Rather than try to conceal brokenness, Kintsugi emphasizes the art of repair, speaking to the notion that both brokenness and repair add value and character to an object. It’s a form of visual storytelling of the objects past & present .

I think it’s a beautiful metaphor for life. Most of us have gone through or will go through something that feels completely life altering. But it matters less what breaks us, when what matters most is how we choose to repair what has been broken.

It takes courage and patience to reassemble what’s been broken. A willingness to remember you are worthy of repair.

When I think of and feel into the energetics of gold, I think of the pure light of the soul. True gold is that which shines eternal. So to mend what has been broken with the preciousness of gold is to honor your wounds, by turning them into wisdom. Transfiguring pain into treasure, brokenness back into wholeness.

Kintsugi speaks to the beauty of imperfection. A timeless kind of beauty that is able to reconfigure and with time and care, come back into a state of union.

Tradionally kintsugi utilizes Urushi, which is a natural lacquer made from the sap of the lacquer tree. Urushi has been used for a millennia and is durable and water resistant. It is then mixed with either rice or flour glue to create a strong adhesive.

I find it fascinating that the same sap that carries water, minerals, and nutrients throughout the tree to sustain its integrity, is also the substance used to repair broken pottery. Acting as a glue that fuses together fragmented parts.

After the urushi - adhesive is applied to the cracks, the fragments are then placed back together, then left to dry for one to three months before being refined, then coated with gold. So what starts out as cracks from fracture, turns into veins of gold.

During my study of Kintsugi, another term kept coming to mind in relation to the art form. That being the philosophy of wabi sabi. Wabi Sabi is a Japanese philosophy that celebrates the beauty of imperfection and impermanence. Wabi representing the beauty of simplicity, and sabi representing the beauty of aging, the slow erosion that happens with the passage of time. There’s such beauty in simplicity, there’s also great beauty in complexity that is carved by time.

Both kintsugi and wabi sabi honor and celebrate imperfection. Exalting the idea that what some may view as flaws, are actually aspects that add value and character to an object or subject. Making it even more unique and one of a kind.

In relation to the human experience I think it’s beautiful to highlight our fractures with the treasure of gold. To let the nutrients of tree sap glue us back together. Kintsugi is a process that takes time, just as true repair is a process that takes time. & within the whirlwind that is the current state of the world, I invite you to make the time for repair and reconstruction. To fully embrace what has been broken back into wholeness.

There is beauty in your fragmentation just as there is beauty in your repair. I think it’s important to honor them in equal measure as they both add to your character and overall mythology. You are one of one, incomparable, and never are you broken beyond repair. Kintsugi your beautiful heart, your mind, or wherever else you’ve experienced brokenness. You are and have always been, worthy of repair.

As someone who was raised in ever changing environments my concept of home wasn’t always the most stable. As a child, when you’re moving from place to place it can be difficult to know what or where your foundation is.

As the years have gone by I decided to reimagine my relationship to home. Redefining what home means to me has been a layered process. I’ve come to the conclusion that no matter where I go, where I travel to, there I am. I can travel from place to place but my presence is what remains, steadily and consistently.

When I began to reclaim my body as home everything changed. I stopped looking outside myself for a sense of stability and started cultivating it from within. A sense of inner cohesion that began to hold me through every season.

So many of us are taught, be it consciously or subconsciously to outsource our sense of belonging, our sense of home. Almost setting our nervous systems up to become unstable when things are uprooted, inevitably transforming right before our eyes. But to have authorship over our inner stability and foundation is a beautiful thing, a sovereign thing.

When I think of home I think of a place of refuge, a place of peace, integration, rest, and nourishment. Remembering the body as home is reclaiming the body as sanctuary, as sacred space. Cultivating inner coherence takes practice. But once those practices become embodied, coming home will begin to feel as easy as breathing. Effortlessness that requires a foundation of effort.

Breathing exercises are an excellent way to bring your awareness back into the body. Regulated breathing lends itself to a regulated nervous system. A regulated nervous system allows for more clarity and homeostasis; which is a beautiful foundation for your home to be built upon.

Movement can also ground you in your body. To have a movement practice that suits you not only strengthens the body, but also strengthens your trust in your body. Your ability to move through your pain, your joy, your rage facilitates more flow and less stagnancy.

Nourishment is another pillar in establishing stability within the body. To sustain a diet that is nutrient dense and full of sustenance strengthens, revitalizes, and promotes overall well being within the architecture of the home.

Rest is also a pillar, I am someone who believes in the power of rest and restoration. When we rest, our body is able to repair itself and commit itself to the reconstructive work. So things like napping, bathing, and a good nights rest are all quite literally productive. To rest is to remind your body that it’s worthy of repair.

The road home is worth traveling for, and you are worth traveling to again and again, even after having learned to abandon yourself. To choose to come home, and renovate your relationship with your body is truly a delight. To be a home, is to be a dwelling place where all of you is welcomed.

Home is where the heart is, so to be a tender of your home is to be a tender of the heart. To tend the garden of your heart with care radiates and communicates to the body that you are held, you are whole, you are warmed by the eternal flame of your heart, & cleansed by the honey of your heart.

In a previous article I expanded on the idea that habits can create habitat, meaning the routines that we re-turn to can become the habitat in which we live. I think it imperative to create routines that fortify and sustain you. practices that call you home and bring you into union within your body. To have routines that bring you into a state of harmony signals to the body that you are deeply cared for.

Learning to be still enough to listen to the needs of your heart, your body, the needs of your home equips you to be able to respond intentionally and deliberately. Home is where the heart is, home is in your body, homebody. Bless your body with affirmation, affection, and love. What you pour into your vessel becomes you, so be kind. You are coming home.

In a world that asks us to reduce ourselves to labels, and over identify with a singular aspect of ourselves so that we are more easily digestible, I think it’s important to embrace our multidimensionality. To find belonging in our wholeness rather than outsourcing our sense of belonging.

As someone who has nearly always felt like an outlier in most settings, i’ve found that learning to hold space for all of my eccentricities, all of my contradiction, has made me more comfortable maneuvering any room. Not feeling the need to water myself down to feel understood has allowed me to be more confident in my uniqueness.

Compartmentalization is a survival mechanism that many people can relate to in one way or another. But I think reframing our “labels” as doorways or portals instead of boxes allows more room for curiosity and integrity.

I think the need to label people based off their race, religion, vocation, sexual orientation, or status can be very limiting, divisive even. As a perpetual student, I like to think that I can learn something from anyone. So I don’t believe in writing someone off just because they are cut from a different cloth, or come from a different walk of life than me. In fact, the more I lean in and listen to people who are different the more I recognize an intrinsic connecting point. Our humanity. As humans we are meant to be multidimensional, and we are meant to learn from one another despite our differences.

Just as there are many rooms, with different purposes that make up a home. There are many parts that make a person whole, and I think it’s important we explore and embrace those parts. This broadens our perspective and capacity to be enriched by the world around us.

This world is rich in culture and subculture, rich in context and sub context. & only if we have eyes to see that, are we able to take in the beauty that is all around, just waiting to be witnessed.

I think many people are conditioned into identity instead of consciously cultivating identity on their own. It goes back to the need to feel validated, like they belong. I don’t blame them, but I do invite them to question why they identify with the things they do.

As a woman who can be extremely sensitive, soft and sharp, peaceful and sometimes chaotic, sweet and sometimes very spicy, I resist letting any of those things define me. Because who I am is much more than that. What defines me at my core can’t be wrapped into a cute box and commodified. Nor can it be neatly curated into a bio or photo carousel.

So I do the work of coming home to myself, paying deep attention to my inner workings. I believe attention is the beginning of devotion, true attention is affection. & when we embrace ourselves in our totality we begin to create an unshakeable belonging within. Allowing us to show up fully in any setting without needing to fragment ourselves to belong to others.

We are living ecosystems with many parts, and I invite you to explore your parts. Take your time delving into your interiority. Treat your inner world, your multidimensionality as a lush, fruitful oasis. A place that is fertile and alive, rich and full of nourishment and information.

Granted, you get to choose what parts of yourself you want to reveal, and what parts you conceal. I believe in using discernment when it comes to what we share openly and what we choose to keep for ourselves, and our loved ones. There is a difference between fragmenting yourself to belong to others, and concealing your intimacies to belong more deeply to yourself.

Embrace your totality, you are a home with many rooms. You get to explore each room, defining each of their functions. Where do you go to cleanse yourself? Where do you go for nourishment? Where do you go for rest and catharsis? Where do you go to play?

All of these rooms make your house a home, a place of solace, a place of deep belonging. Before we can belong to anyone else we must first belong to ourselves. Holding space for your dimensionality is like coming home to a beautiful wife who’s been waiting patiently to embrace you. That kind of contentment, and sense of belonging is priceless.

You are rich because you are multidimensional and cannot be defined by a singular aspect of yourself. You are rich because you are whole and embrace your totality. You are rich because you belong completely to yourself & from that space you attract connections with those who also live in communion with themselves. Honor your multidimensionality, honor your becoming.

Grief has been one my life’s greatest teachers thus far. As someone who has maneuvered the terrain of grief many times, I’ve chosen to reconstruct my relationship with it. Leaning in, and asking what it has to teach me. While it empties me of something, what is it simultaneously offering up? Grief offers a deepening, an enrichment that expands our capacity to experience the fullness of life.

Grief will lend you a hand into the depths of the unknown. It demands emptiness in places that were once filled with presence. With every loss we shed a version of ourselves but we also gain more of our capacity, our inner space, our elasticity. I love when I meet someone and can sense how deep they’ve gone into their own depths. How their gaze reflects an oceanic resilience. How they radiate a soft light that has carried them through the dark night.

As this year of the snake comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on all i’ve had to shed in order to to be renewed into new life, new possibility. The amount of heaviness processed has been immense, but necessary. From that space I’ve been able to remember who I am, and create space for more peace, more love, and more joy.

Grief is a great teacher, a great initiator. Bringing you into deeper understanding of not only yourself but others, facilitating a deeper sense of compassion. A re-sensitizing. & although it is experienced as a singular process, it is also universal. We all get to cross the threshold of loss if we’re lucky.

When I think of the serpent and it’s symbology i’m reminded that when we shed what is outdated we get to emerge into a new, redefined version of who we are. Before a snake sheds it’s skin its eyesight becomes obscured, clouded even. Then once the shedding occurs it can see clearly again, with fresh eyes. Very symbolic. Sometimes when we’re in the liminal space, the in between, our vision becomes unclear. Not being able to fully perceive our new form, but sensing it’s arrival.

Snakes symbolize transformation, insight, rebirth, & healing. If any of these themes have been coming up for you within the past year just know that you are right on. If you are still in the in between, embrace it knowing the new you will emerge in due time. Breathe into the undoing. It’s important to give yourself grace in the liminal space.

In traditional Chinese Medicine it is said that grief is processed through the lungs. The lungs have a reciprocal relationship with the heart, so what is processed in the heart is also moved through the lungs. Have you ever noticed how processing grief can coincide with a heaviness in the chest or shortness of breath? The bodily mechanisms of contraction and release.

The body is an ecosystem where everything is connected, so it’s important to support your body in its emotional release. Foods like garlic, turmeric, cinnamon, and ginger are said to support the lungs. Helping to stimulate circulation and reduce stagnation.

In ancient Egypt death was not considered an end, but as a transition, an eternal continuation of life. There were practices and rituals performed to assist not only the transition of the deceased, but the communities impacted by loss. To ritualize your grief is to create a foundation for new life.

Grief can initiate you into the depths of your psyche, and the further down you go the higher you can ascend. A descent preceding an ascension. So don’t resist your process, embrace it. You’re grief doesn’t have to be palatable. It gets to be raw, messy, unfiltered. Embrace your tears, let them cleanse and lighten the heaviness in your heart. Embrace the sadness, let it guide you into new life. To grieve deeply means that you’ve loved deeply.

I’ve found that with every personal heartache, my heart has deepened in its capacity to love. So when it comes I choose to turn towards it. There is love in letting go, solace in remembering death is a precursor to more life.

In a time that is very potent with grief within the collective I think it’s important to find healthy outlets. Whether it’s moving your body, crying, screaming, cultivating community, making art, trying new things.

Offer the weight of your grief to the great mother, the earth. & let her hold and alchemize it into sustenance. Be present in your shedding. The path forward will reveal itself as you walk it. So leave your grief at the foot of the altar of the creator. It was never yours to carry anyway, only yours to be deepened by.

As we are all born naked, I often reflect on the value of getting dressed. The value in the way we wrap ourselves. On a practical level our clothing covers us, protecting our skin from over exposure to the outside world. On a deeper level I feel how the fabric on our skin is a direct reflection and representation of the dimensional embodiment we are in. Meaning the way we dress ourselves can directly correlate to which dimension of self we are currently tuned into.

Fashion & styling can be a great tool to refine and optimize the way you communicate your inner world outwardly. An opportunity for reconstruction. This is valuable because it weaves and tells a story without you having to utter a word. Dressing ourselves deliberately takes self knowledge, self study.

The ability to get to the core of who you are and articulate that artfully is a lovely way to interface with the world around you. Using the body as a site for inner atonement, by being intentional with how you dress yourself is a beautiful way to reconcile fragmented aspects of the self. Bringing order to chaos.

When I think of the ancient practice of swaddling, the act of securely wrapping a baby in a blanket, to recreate the comfort of being in the womb; Helping to soothe and regulate the baby. I find it quite fascinating that the desire to be wrapped, held in the womb of possibility never really leaves us, it only evolves and matures.

To wrap oneself in possibility, in self discovery, in beauty is a fortifying act. An act of becoming. From a womb comes rebirth, a remembrance, a reemergence. Everyday we have the ability to transform. In the way we wrap ourselves with our words, our actions, and even our wardrobe. Deepening the relationship between the garment of the body with the garments that we wear.

I also think about the craft of the Kimono in relation to enveloping the self. In Japanese culture the Kimono has been shaped by over a thousand years of tradition. By the Edo period (1603-1868) Kimono had become deeply integrated into the everyday lives of the Japanese. They became more than a garment, but a language of identity. Colors, fabrics, proportion, & patterns all communicated things like age, social standing, marital status, and even personality.

Unlike the culture of fast fashion, the basic structure of the kimono has remained consistent, timeless- allowing its craft and symbolism to really shine through. There’s so much value in wrapping oneself in tradition whilst also articulating your individuality. Taking something that is ancient and giving it fresh form.

I would invite you beloved, to become deliberate, precise in the way you wrap yourself. Investing in pieces that really speak to you and reflect the organic nature of the sol, the self. ☉

I’m a firm believer in working with what you’ve got, so there are times when I look at my wardrobe and ask “ How can I wear this piece, that i’ve worn 60 times before differently? How can I complement this garment in a way that gives it new life?” This kind of exercise takes a willingness to be playful and imaginative.

There is value in the way you wrap yourself. In the way you warm and hold yourself in the world. It’s less about aesthetics and more about intentionality, revelation, and a sense of reverence for the self.

There is value in the way you carry the stories of your lineage, in the way you give tradition new form. There’s beauty in the way you transform. When you take the time to envelop yourself, dress yourself with intention it lends itself to a deeper sense of knowing and confidence. The confidence to show up uniquely and intricately.

I believe that expressing your individuality as an offering to the collective is great medicine not only for ourselves, but for our communities as well. I welcome you to remember your inherent value, and to wrap yourself in it allowing it to become the womb in which you give birth to yourself anew whenever you so please.

Exploring the principle of pleasure, and cultivating sensual intelligence as an act of embodiment has been a great unveiling for me over the years. A complete immersion into the depths of my psyche.

I feel sensuality is a tool that supports the slow cultivation of presence . The ability to be deeply present enriches the quality of one’s life. To enrich your quality of life is to reclaim authorship of your experience, the lens in which you view life from.

Cultivating sensual intelligence takes time and discernment. Like gardening, it takes patience and a gentle kind of consistency. A good place to start when identifying your sensibilities is to weed and edit out what you don’t like, so that you can get clear on and move toward more of what you do like.

What types of textures, colors, scents, sounds, and flavors are you drawn to? What do these things have in common? How are they different? How do they inform and complement one another?

Sit with these questions, then give your discoveries descriptive words, so that you can begin to identify the living language of your inner world of sensuality. What kinds of truths do your sensibilities reveal to you? Let this clarity be fully felt before it is articulated.

Sensual intelligence isn’t about technique or performance, It’s about getting in tune with one’s own physical and emotional rhythms. It’s how we cultivate intimacy with our inner workings. The way we give it language, and how we let that language take shape in our experiences and surroundings.

I believe sensuality is a tool for self soothing and emotional regulation. To carefully engage your senses is to create inner belonging. A return to center.

I encourage you to tend the perfumed garden of your sensuality. It is safe to relax into your sensual nature. Your desire for the way of beauty and sensuality is full of transformative power.

As someone who loves a good routine I often find myself reflecting on how daily habits can settle in and create habitat. Meaning the routines that you implement and return to can become the house you live in. This is why it’s so important to know yourself, to be aware of your needs, and then create routines that support you.

Since our inner worlds are inescapable in this life, I think it’s vital that we create beautiful, integrated, harmonic environments for our consciousness to settle into. A place you can return to that embraces you fully. Endlessly. In a world that is changing rapidly, we get to have agency of our inner landscape. A habitat made just for you. A home that is yours to inhabit.

It can be easy to lose sight of this truth when unconscious habits begin to take shape. When the outer environment begins to inform the inner, instead of the inner workings informing the outer. I’ve experienced both internal resonance and dissonance. & to return resonance is to clear out the qualities creating dissonance, the habits that may be counterintuitive or counterproductive.

To clean house is to create clarity, & from that space resonance is restored. An inner coherence that feels unified and whole. A place where all of you is held.

I often reference the honeybees in relation to home-making. The way they come together in devotion to the hive, to architect a beautiful hexagonal home that stores the nectar; the genetic information of the land. Bees live their entire lives in devotion to the well-being and continuity of the hive. The honeycomb itself is a silicate substance that is extracted from glands in the bees side. That they then structure the perfect geometry needed to protect the hive, the eggs, and the stored information of that land. So they tend to live in a substance that they are literally made of.

A healthy hive is the perfect example of inner coherence. where collective habits become a literal habitat. A living symphony of support. A house of renewal. There’s something so wonderful about coming home, reclaiming wholeness in a space that once felt fragmented. I wish you a safe and beautiful return.

My relationship to beauty has deepened over the years, resurrecting parts of me that i’d once deemed superficial. But beauty is as spiritual as it is essential. I believe beauty is medicine, nourishment for the heart. & the more we cultivate a beauty of being, the more vital and full of life we can become.

In medieval scholasticism beauty is considered one of the three transcendentals, truth and goodness being the other two. The transcendentals are known as elevated properties of being. so it could be said that beauty is a vehicle of elevation, inspiration, even motivation.

I’ve seen this to be true in my time working within the beauty/cosmetics industry. How people tend to light up when you’ve helped them find the perfect red lip. How they relax when they feel truly seen and celebrated for their features.

Beauty is poetry in form, and in motion. & because it is moving it inspires movement. It’s inspired an inner atonement for me personally, a place I can return to again. I want to share this journey. In a world riddled in chaos and ugliness I wanted to create a digital garden where vulnerability is embraced and beauty is created out of the mud.
