“It is great to be called an Apostle. It is great to be called a Prophet, a Pastor, an Evangelist, a Teacher. But I want to be called a Friend of God”.

My response was “Me too”.

Hiiii, I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH. I hope you are well. And for the longest time, I have called the Holy Spirit my Friend. I have drafts upon drafts on friendship with God, but I’ll be writing about friendship with God finally.

I am in awe of verses that talk about being a friend of God. When I come across such verses, I would pause and become a lover girl. To be a Friend of God? It has to be the greatest badge I wear. Or I want to attain…

I realised God shares things with His friends. You know how you have that hot gist or conversation you’re eager to let your friend know about? Yeah. That’s how God is to His friends. Yes, I am a friend of God. But He has other friends. One is Abraham. Have you heard of Him?

You would see God bless His friend Abraham. You’d notice He shares things with Him. He tells Him what He wants to do, like when He was to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah. But it wasn’t a one-sided friendship. Abraham loved God too. I’d say “Abraham earned the friendship”.

Abraham loved God to care about what God had to say. He loved God to obey Him blindly. He loved God to trust Him. He loved his Heavenly friend. It means Abraham spoke to God often. Abraham pleased God. When God tried his heart, he saw Abraham loved Him more than anyone else. We may not love God as much as He loves us, but we can try. We can attempt.

Attempt to love God this week. Attempt to be a Friend of God. One way to do that is by speaking to God. Telling Him how you feel and listening to His feelings. The next line is a simple tip.

My Pastor once said: Those who talk to the Holy Spirit often would be close to Him. Not those who pray at a specific time only. But those who talk to Him all day.

It doesn’t mean you’re praying 24 hours, 7 days a week. But it means you are involving God in every detail of your life. I pray for you; the Lord will give you the grace to love Him. You’ll become a friend of God. I pray the Lord will preserve your heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Today’s Focus is Hope Secrets 3: Self-Sabotage Got To Go. The focus will primarily be self-condemnation and the art of comparison.

Self-Condemnation. Christ forgave us our sins and shortcomings but weirdly, we may find it difficult to forgive ourselves or move past our wrongs. Don’t dwell on the mistakes you’ve made. It was a mistake now you know better. There’s no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus! Don’t live in the prison of guilt and depression over your weakness. You’re growing, evolving, becoming who God wants you to be. Give yourself grace to grow. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself time to transform.

Comparison. The art of comparison can be self-taught or inflicted on us by society. “Look at your mate, does she have two heads?”. “This person did this at your age”. Comparison is a thief of joy. Your path and others are different, just like your fingerprints. There are great strengths you carry and others don’t. Equally, there are strengths they have and you don’t. This shouldn’t lead to comparison but gratitude. God made you with your own special gifts, you are unique, made in the image of God. You’re a STAR, so why drown in the sea of comparison? Recognise their gift and consequently, you can benefit from it. Read the verse below.

You are special and your unique attributes can bless others. So it is with them, their unique graces can bless you. This will preserve your joy and keep your heart free from bitterness, envy, anger or offence.

This month, I began to write on the theme “Hope Secrets”. In the first blog, we established that who we are looking at can ignite hope in our hearts. And yes, Jesus is the one to look at. He will never let you down.✨

Today, my focus is “Offence”. I’d say offence is the elephant in the room we’ve refused to acknowledge. It’s the sharp pain in our chest we overlook. It’s the silent resentment and anger we have towards someone. Offence is anti-hope and anti-love. However, you’re not weird to be offended, the bible tells us offence must come. But the question is, will you be offended?

Here are a few things I’m learning. Offences would come but I can choose to not be offended. I can let the Holy Spirit work in me to love those who have hurt me. The love of God holds no track record of wrongs. Instead of replaying the harsh words said to me, I decide to let Go and let God. Love forgives, love covers a multitude of sin and wrongs done to me.

If you’d ask me what the solution is to offence. I’d say it’s not about being right, but choosing peace even when the other party hasn’t acknowledged they’re wrong. I know I can also be wrong, my words may hurt people and my actions may miscommunicate my heart. However, I forgive just as others forgave me, and even more so, Christ forgave me. If we walk in the Spirit, we won’t dwell in the prison of offence. Offence is a thief of hope, joy and peace. Offence makes the soul weary. Hope secret 2 - Avoid Offence. May God help us, Amen.✨

Today is AHAVAH’s anniversary. I and AHAVAH are both birthday girlies todayyy! Yurrr, it’s my birthday too. It’s been two years of writing blogs on Substack. Two years of communicating the Heart of the Father to many. I thank the Lord, the Giver of Visions. I don’t think I pictured this day, but here we are, all by His mercies. Thank you for reading. You are amazing. You really are. Our journey to year three is one full of beauty, glory and a thousand possibilities. Be our guest on this ride.

Okay, I’m sorry. I disappeared. Not because I stopped writing, but I wasn’t sure what to share here. AHAVAH has had other things going on during that silence, and I should have communicated them here. In the days ahead, we will be sharing our write-up on other platforms. I can’t wait to tell you about it in due time. I have a letter for you today. Please come close.

Hiii, I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH. A blog of and from the Lover, with the Lover being GOD. If you’re new here, I want to say a big welcome. I see you and I appreciate you. My prayer for you is that you feel the Love of God as you read our letters from His heart. This month, I will be writing on “Hope Secrets”. In March, I bought a book called “Hope Secrets” by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills. I read it and I felt at peace. Once again I had… Hope. This letter won’t be discussing what was written in the book (it’s a secret🤐). However, I’d be stating a few hope igniters I have come across in life.

Who Are You Looking At?

Who we fix our gaze on can be a faith booster. It can spur us into great works. Have you come across babies running and their parents or teachers are often at the other end, bidding them to come. The goal is that the baby continually looking at its parent, would walk towards the finish line. Let’s apply this to our faith. When you look at Jesus, you’re assured of the end of this race. You know you’re on the right path and it pays to follow God. Though life may not be all rosy, you’re Heaven-Bound. A reason to rejoiceeee. As you continually look at Him, hope will be ignited in your heart. The cares of this world have nothing on you. Your heart is steady, knowing God has your back. You’re led by God, kept by Him and LOVED BY HIM. That’s enough to keep your hope ablaze. Read these verses slowly:

Looking unto Jesus. Eyes on Him. Gaze fixed on Him. His Word constantly in our hearts. Continually meditating on His love towards us. Eyes on Jesus. Not our issues, but Jesus! Not our shortcomings and sins, but Jesus! Not the shame and disadvantages we are surrounded with, but Jesus, our advantage! But Jesus, the Son of the Living God! But Jesus, the Saviour of the World! Have we esteemed our troubles higher than our God? Have we forgotten who our Father is? Have we taken our eyes off Jesus and begun to look at the storms in our lives? The academic challenges, career choices, living conditions, our future or the pressures and happenings in the world. Does it feel like problems never enddddd? How many tears have you shed that no one saw? There’s a God who sees your tears, He knows your name. Look and call on Him when you can only mutter a few words. If it’s only one word you can say at your lowest, let it be “JESUS”. His name is more than enough. His name is powerful. His name brings Hope.

Are you a believer? Are you on the Lord’s side? If you are, I want to encourage you to keep looking at Jesus. If you aren’t, I want to encourage you to join us. Accept, Believe and Confess that Jesus is indeed Lord and you will be saved. You can also reach out here.

Hiiii, I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH, a blog of and from the Lover, with the Lover being God. Firstly, a happy new year to you. 2026 is going to be a greatttt year! It’s been ten days into the new year and I’d like to ask how it has been for you? There can be a lot of academic pressure around this period, but here’s my encouragement: don’t be consumed by the busyness and demands of life. Learn to find rest and peace in God.

In 2026, the Lord should be your firm foundation. Your solid rock! I heard this year isn’t one to be inconsistent in our devotion. I agree fully. It’s time to cling to God more intensely. Remind yourself why you believed in Jesus and His Gospel? Why did you choose to serve God? Know your whys for being a believer and run with it. No turning back! This Jesus? I’ll love Him till He returns. This God? I’ll serve Him, performing His mandate till I hear “Well done, you good and faithful servant”. If you’re giving God your heart, give Him the whole of it. One leg in the world, one leg in Christ, can’t be this year. Your devotion is a priority. Read your Bible and pray daily. Treat your devotion as a love affair between you and God.

You’ve been saved for some years now. Two years, three, four, five, or more. Or maybe it’s just one year, or six months, or one week. It’s not too early or too late to lock in with God. It’s a new year, and the majority of us have set our goals. New year, new ambitions. New year, a fresh start. While this is vital, it’s important that part of our goals for the year are Kingdom-minded. In other words, borrowing the Kingdom’s goals and making them ours. Making God’s will our will. While we can pray and wait to hear what God wants us to do, we can run with the assignment he has given us, written in His Word. The Great Commission.

We are God’s representative here on earth. 2 Corinthians 5:20 calls us Ambassadors of Christ. Christ is known through us. Heaven is populated because we are in motion, preaching the Gospel to everyone, old and young. Daily, there is joy in heaven on our account. Our hands have become the extension of God’s hands to heal the sick and raise the dead. To work marvellous miracles! Our words are seasoned with grace, and we know how to speak a word of comfort to those who mourn. We carry on our tongue hope for the hopeless, strength for the weak, and the message of Salvation to those who are lost.

Yes, I do have goals. Devotion goals, reading goals, health goals, academic goals and much more. But at the core of it, I have a mandate from Heaven. One that has been given to all believers, to go into the world and preach the Gospel! This year, AHAVAH has beautiful blogs centred around the Good News of Christ Jesus. It will be an amazing time with different creative blogs. I’ll write to you soon. Until then, take care and welcome to 2026!

Was 2025 great, mid or bad? Whichever it is, I have a word for you. Circumstances may change but the joy of the believer is constant. Our hope, our assurance never fails. Rough days, tearful nights, hard moments, weak weeks, challenging months, on sick beds with wet pillows, bowed heads and heavy hearts, with feeble knees and clouded minds. Our hope never fails. This is a result of the solid rock we stand upon. Our living hope, Jesus.

Were you rejected? Burdened? Sad? Lonely? Helpless? Tired? I want you to remember the God who is above all the issues of life. Hold unto His word. Count his blessings. Remember his faithfulness. Cling to his love.

His love is everlasting. I agree words carry weight, but I believe when it comes to describing my God, words are not enough. Everlasting means “lasting forever or for a very long time”. But I’m describing a love that exists beyond time. Beyond words and thoughts. That exists in actions - the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, the proof of His love. The love living in me - the seal of His promise, The Holy Spirit, my own friend.

In 2025, God held me. And if you’re reading this, I make boast to say He’s kept you too. He’s faithful. I learnt this beautiful lesson, God is faithful in and out of seasons. His perfection outweighs my imperfections. His mercy overlooked my flaws. Mortal men, awesome God. His stripes made my scars fade. His Word is my anchor.

On the roughest of days, He was ever close. In the days anxiety came, He was Peace. He was the still small voice I could hear. No condemnation, just hope in Him. In His name I found shelter. In His arms I found love. In my fears, His faith shone through. In my doubts, I met the holder of my future. I know I can make it, because my life is in God’s hands.

It’s time to hold unto God like never before. Let Him be your unshakable anchor, your immovable rock and firm foundation. In 2026, we are not doing life with uncertainty or panic. We are walking with God and in His plan. Above the fears of this world, beyond the busyness and demands of life, we basks in God’s abundant peace. Dear believer, stay in God and you’d realize the troubles of this world got nothing on you. You’ll be unshaken, lasting through seasons and trails like Zion.

I have few words left, come closer, they are vital. Believer, don’t dwell in the negatives of this year. While you reflect, review and restrategise in preparation for 2026, let thanksgiving dwell on your lips. And gratitude swell up in your heart. In the heart of preparation, remember your life is in God’s hands, therefore you’re a success story. Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. I’ll write to you again next year. Till then, take care. 🤍

How can we honour God?

Across the scriptures, you will find how to honour God. When reading the Bible, take our time to mark the ways we can honour God. I will be pointing out three ways we can honour God. Firstly, obey Him! Yes, yes, yes, obey Him. Obey His word, instructions, and leadings. I was taught “if you love the Lord, you will obey Him”. I agreeeee. Not because I feel it “makes sense” or “adds up”. But that’s what the scripture says. We have to transcend beyond words and feelings and actively obey God in honouring Him. Because He has said it, I will do it. Because He instructed me, I will obey.

Unto step two.👏🏽 You can honour the Lord by picking up His burdens. His will becomes your will. His house, your house. His burdens, your burdens. You become concerned and deeply invested about the work of the Lord. “What are You doing Lord and how can I contribute?” In honouring God, you will be actively involved in Kingdom work. In soul winning! The concerns of His heart becomes yours.

Thirdly, You can honour God with your substance/ possession / wealth. Honour God with what you have. When you love a person, you will find it easy to share with them. To give to them. When you love the Lord, you’ll honour Him. You will honour Him with what you have because you know He is the Giver (James 1:17). The songwriter wrote “You are worthy of it all. Cause from You are all things. And to you are all things. You deserve the glory”. Regardless of the quantity, honour God with what you have. Scripture to back up this point? Popular scripture - Proverbs 3:9.

As earlier stated, there are many more ways to honour the Lord. Search the scriptures and find out ways you can honour the Lord your God. However, here’s a tip from a friend to a friend; do it from your heart. Be sincere in it. Is it obedience? Obey fully, obey heartily. Getting involved in the work of God? Do it with a heart full of love for God. Do it with the mentality that “this is the work of my God!” Do it with all your heart. Honouring God with your substance? Do it willingly, without eye-service or expecting praises from men. Do it with the Father in mind.

I’d say it is essential to have a Bible verse for everything. A Bible verse Why you do the work of the Lord, give, obey your leaders, honour your parents, honour the Lord. Or even a Bible verse, why you are found in the company of believers. This will help you know your ‘why’. So you’re not doing anything unconsciously but full of knowledge and understanding. And when the days get tough, they serve as your anchor and a momentum to keep pushing.

WHY HONOUR GOD?

Why should we humans honour God? The King of Kings, the One who created the Heaven and the Earth, the All-Powerful God. Why should we pay respect to Him? I have a very simple answer I told myself last year. “Ochuwa, God is not your mate”. He has never been and never will be. Me and God? We aren’t equal. He’s supreme, and He made me.

How did I come about this realization? I was at a program, and we were worshipping God, pouring our hearts out in songs, and for me, it was with tears. They began to sing a Yoruba song God had laid in their hearts. I wasn’t so happy about it, as I neither knew the lyrics nor the meaning (now I know better, I must worship regardless of the song). However, the preacher kept repeating some words, “Can we have the lyrics and meaning on the screen?”. As it came up, I read the lyrics and sang along. And a line said, “He who all praises belongs to, we welcome you”. It hit me God wasn’t my mate. “Let me go on my knees,” I said. Let me bow before my maker. It was then I realised that when servants of God kneel before preaching, it’s not to their glorification, but the one who sits on the everlasting throne. To the God of all Flesh, because it is a privilege when He walks in on us. When His presence comes.

I don’t need encouragement and twenty reasons to honour God. To show deep respect for Him. He made me. He is God above all. He loves me deeply. He is faithful to the end. He is All-sufficient. He can exist without me, and I can’t exist without Him. That’s more than enough. That’s enough reason to bring me to my knees. He’s beautiful beyond description, that’s why I stand in awe of Him. He is merciful without limits, that’s why my heart yearns for Him. He’s my God, and I honour Him.

Who is like unto my God? Amongst the gods, who is like Him? He is glorious in holiness, He is fearful in praises. Always! Always! Always doing wonders! He is too good. He is good to the extent that He defines good. Ask me to spell good and I’ll spell God. Ask me to define beautiful, and I’ll call the name Jesus. Ask me what is reckless love, and I’ll point to the cross. God deserves all the worship, all the praise, and all the honour. Give Him some praise today! Let it come from your heart, let praises rise from the inside. And let it burst forth like gushing waters.

Hiiii, I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH, a blog of and from the Lover. Our Lover here is God, the Creator of the Heavens and Earth. I hope you are doing well. I am, all by God’s grace. Sincerely, I wishhh you could feel my energy through this letter. I’m super pumped to write to you. I misssssed this space and I missed you. To those who just joined, welcome! It’s an honour to have you here.

This month, we will be zooming in on the topic HONOUR, with our focus as HONOURING GOD. I want to believe the reason we might not honour God is because we haven’t been taught. Honour sounds familiar, yet there’s no deep understanding of this concept. It is my privilege to write about this beautiful topic in the coming months. We are going to have a blasttt. Chef Holy Spirit is cooking good for us. Take a seat, friend, you’re about to be servedddd.

WHAT IS HONOUR?

I heard from Pastor Philip Olubakin that “honour is demonstrated regard or respect”. It is demonstrated! Acted out! Displayed! Honour is visible. Honour can be seen. I’ve met a couple of people who I can boldly say “they love God”, “they honour God”. Why? I could see it in their words, conduct, and even their relationship with other people. You can come across someone and be able to discern that they honour God. Likewise, the God who sees in secret knows those who honour him.

STAGES IN HONOUR

Our first stage is “Acknowledging”. That’s right. Honour begins from the heart and mind, then reflects in our actions. If a person’s heart does not acknowledge the living God, I can’t say they honour Him regardless of the words they say and do. I’ll show you a verse - “The Lord says, “These people come to honor me with words, but I am not really important to them. The worship they give me is nothing but human rules they have memorized” (Isaiah 29:13 ERV). What a verse! You can read it again. Our hearts are needed to honour. It’s possible to say words upon words, memorised and poured out to God, yet our hearts are far from God. A person can say “I love You Lord” and absolutely don’t. Perhaps, the different between honour and eye service is that honour is both in the heart and action, unlike eye service.

Storytimeeee. Jesus had gone to Nazareth, his own country. As he began to teach, the people questioned who he was. Child of Mary? They were offended at Him. They failed to realize that the child of Mary is also the Son of God. Born of the Spirit, sent to save us from our sins (Matt 1:18-21). I’ll encourage us to think about who God is. Take a walk, look at the world around you. The God who created the world with words. The God whose name is Holy. The All-Powerful God. The All-Knowing God. The one who sets up kings and removes kings (Dan 2:21). The one whom the kings of this earth bow to. The one whom I call Father! When we reflect on who He is, our heart is stirred up. Stirred up in praises and adoration. That’s beautiful. Unto the next stage.

ACTION. I wouldn’t say a lot here, as subsequent blogs will address this. We can honour God in our actions. I’ll give a brief example. Just like in worship, the adoration starts in your heart, but there are visible expressions on the outside. Such as kneeling down, tears flowing, hands lifted, eyes closed, singing songs, clapping, dancing, and so on. You can’t say you’re worship God and sitting down while being your phone distracted. When you honour God, it will reflect fully in how you live, speak, and even dress. It will be evident.

PRAYER

Prayer changes things but it also changes the vessel. As we behold God, we become like Him. We become a better version of ourselves - someone his presence can be made manifest to. When we pray, we bring down the presence of God. A miracle occurred when Paul and Silas prayed in prison. Every prisoner's chains were loosed - “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed” (Acts‬ ‭16‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬). Do you want to carry the presence of God? Become a suitable vessel by praying today. Spend time in prayer and meditating on the Word of God. Please read the verse below:

FELLOWSHIP WITH BELIEVERS

When you are in the company of believers, you stand a high chance of experiencing the presence of God. When I began spending time with believers in my church, I learnt about the presence of God. I realised some people feel the tangible presence of God in their rooms. In their quiet times, in worship, in prayer, and Bible study. I wouldn’t have known I could experience the presence of God in my room alone if I had not spent time with fellow children of God. Find a Bible-believing church or community! Stay with a praying community! Don’t be a church-hopper, be planted and grow there! Pray with believers. Experience the presence of God together with them. Remember, the Lord is in the midst of his children.

What a short blog!😅 However, I hope we could pick a lesson or two from it. We’ve come to the end of this letter and the theme - The Presence of God. Hiii I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH. How are you doing? This week we will be looking at The Presence with Us. Yup, that’s right. We’ve studied the Presence of God with Jesus, the Apostles and David to name a few. Now it’s time to learn about the Presence with Us. You’re not alone Child of God. Let’s dive innn.

THE PRESENCE WITH US

Can I tell you a story? In my first year in university. I attended a program exclusive to first-year students in my church. The theme was “Sweet Influence of the Holy Spirit”. Before the camp, I was to write a blog about God the Spirit but I didn’t know what to write. I also didn’t know how to tell the Holy Spirit I didn’t know Him. I understood God the Father and Son, but not the Spirit. But at that camp, the Spirit of God began to minister to people. My eyes were enlightened and I met with the Comforter. How? Let’s read on.

On day two, evening session, I remember kneeling next to my friend right at the altar and bawling my eyes. I had several anxious moments that season. I was confused and overwhelmed. In that moment on my knees, I was honest with my Saviour. “Lord Jesus, I’ll be okay if you were right by me. If I could see you and do life with you”. Matt 28:20b KJV says “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world”. Yup. I wanted Him by my side. I misunderstood what He meant. But I heard a voice explain to me there, I can’t hold your hands physically every day. I can’t walk you to your classes. But I have given you the Holy Spirit. Right there I understood the Holy Spirit as my friend, my partner and the presence with me. It occurred to me, that I wasn’t alone.

Since then I have been more conscious of the Holy Spirit with me. The presence helps me make basic and important decisions. The presence which equips me for every good work. The presence which comforts me. Sometimes I love to dance before I sleep (don’t judge me). It makes me glad. However, I’ve found having conversations with the Holy Spirit right before bed is a greater joy. When no one is there, He’s right by my side.

I’ll be honest, there’s trouble in this world. And life can be busy. But I’ve found a friend who goes with me. I’ve found a presence. When I sit on the bus with my headphones, it might seem I’m lost in thoughts. But there’s a conversation ongoing. There’s a presence guiding me. One of my scariest moments in life was being alone in university. I remember the Saturday I got dropped off. I was anxious and scared. And yes, I cried. But what I didn’t know was I had a partner. I had a presence saying “We are going together”, “I’m with you”, and “I’m right by your side”. What I didn’t know was the Holy Spirit was right by my side.

Isaiah 30:21 is a verse close to my heart. I can’t lose, I can’t fail, I can’t be confused, I can’t be abandoned. There is someone with me, guiding me along the way. If you’re a child of God, He’s with you too. He is the seal of your Salvation. If you aren’t saved or want to learn about salvation. Please let’s have a chat.

I’ve come to the end of my letter. We have one more letter to go on the theme “The Presence of God”. I’ve learnt so much from it. This letter is quite different, I surely didn’t expect it to go this way. But I’ll write to you soon. Till then, take care.✨

Heyyyyy friend! Or Sibling in Christ? I hope it's the latter.🤭 I’m Timilehin from AHAVAH. Recently, it was Father's day and it will be wrong we don't celebrate our Father. Here’s a poem and a few bible verses to remind ourselves of how He has brought us thus far. A beautiful read to you.

Tattered and battered,

Tired and teary,

Weak and weary,

I wandered aimlessly.

Nowhere to go, none to look to.

With an outstretched arm, he called me.

What more could i lose?

 I went to him in great tears.

He placed me in his laps, stroking my hair till i fell asleep.

I was vulnerable, he protected me.

I was weak, he strengthened me.

I was dirty, he washed me.

I was sick, he healed me.

I was lost, he found me.

He replaced my tattered dress 

Tended to my unkept hair 

He gave me a new name.

Stamping me with the seal of his Spirit,

He adopted me, and called me his child. 

"I'll be your FATHER" he said, 

now and till the end of the age.

I hope you're reminded dear sibling, even in the midst of what you're going through, he saw you in the worst and brought you out of that. How much more now? He's your Father, always.💕

Hiii I’m Ochuwa from AHAVAH, a blog of and from the Lover. How are you doing? And how’s your week been? I have a request, do well to share this letter with someone, it might hold the words they need to hear. We’ve been in the Presence of God. This week we will be learning about The Presence of the Apostle. I’ve been holding back in writing this. Why? I don’t want to fall anyone’s expectations. Now I think of it, that’s a wrong mentality. I am praying the Holy Spirit teaches me what to write according to the heart of God.

THE PRESENCE OF GOD WITH THE APOSTLES

Remember Jesus instructing the Apostles to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit? You can read Acts 1 vs 4-8. The Presence of the Holy Spirit is a necessity in our lives. In ministry, His presence makes the difference. When He walks in everything changes. Healings, miracles, signs and wonders truly become the children’s bread. The supernatural becomes a reality. The Apostles performed great miracles because of the Holy Spirit in and with them. Not because they were the most audacious or fluent in speech. Peter's shadow healed the sick (Acts 5:15), and aprons and handkerchiefs were taken from Paul’s body and used to heal the sick (Acts 19:12). The Kingdom of God was preached with the demonstration of POWER.

The Holy Spirit with the Apostles gave them strength to endure persecutions. They could withstand the opposition from people because He was with them. The same Holy Spirit that strengthened Jesus from His arrest till crucifixion dwells within us. He can sustain us when faced with opposition. Scripture says; “[3] We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. [4] And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. [5] And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love (Romans 5:3-5). I once heard a leader say “The problem wasn’t the storms or troubles I had around. The problem was I couldn’t feel Him (The Holy Spirit) with me”. When the Holy Spirit is with you, you are encouraged in trying moments. It might be as simple as being mocked in school or your neighbourhood for being a Jesus Child. The Presence of God will give you the boldness to be audacious and persistent about your faith. Because God is with you, you will not fear. The Bible verse below may seem long, but do read it, it will bless you.

The Holy Spirit with the Apostles strengthened their unity. They dwelt together, shared belongings and were of great help to one another - Acts 2:44-46. They were familyyyy. The Presence of the Holy Spirit produces love in our hearts - Romans 5:5. Love towards God, love towards one another. If you’re wondering how on earth we can love our enemies, it is through the Holy Spirit. He produces the fruit of love in us with its various expressions (Galatians 5:22-23). You can love unconditionally with the help of the Holy Spirit. You can give selflessly with the help of the Holy Spirit. You can serve your neighbour expecting no rewards by His help. The Apostles didn’t have a degree in welfare and hospitality. They had the spirit of God, so they could love. Now you know why a criterion for choosing the seven deacons was to be full of the Spirit.

Do you have the Holy Spirit? You can be full of love. You can heal the sick, raise the dead and more. You can do greattt things for God. You have the Holy Ghost, you have ALL you need. Child of God, you need the presence of God - The Lord your God in your midst. I’ll write to you soon. Till then, take careeee.

Hiiii I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH, a blog of and from the Lover. I hope you’re doing well and life hasn’t been too busy. Regardless, there’s refreshing in the presence of God (Acts 3:19). I’m privileged to write to you today on the Presence of God with Jesus. I’d rather explain this verbally than write, but I trust the Holy Spirit to help.✨

THE PRESENCE WITH JESUS.

From the conception of Jesus till his ascension, the presence of God can be seen in His life. His birth was no ordinary incident. How can a virgin be with a child? But so it happened. The Holy Spirit sponsored the birth of Jesus.

It is important to have the Holy Ghost with you. When beginning a new phase or ministry, it is vital to have him by your side. I’ll tell you my secret, anytime I begin a new academic year in university. I say a prayer “Holy Ghost, it is me and you now”. When I walk to my lectures, it’s me and the Spirit of God. When I do my assignment, it’s me and Spirit writing that essay. In everything I do, it is me and the Spirit. So when he says don’t sign up for that, I wouldn’t. Because if his presence will not go with me, why should I go?

Before commencing his ministry, Jesus was baptised by John the Baptist and something significant occurred here. The Spirit of God descended like a dove from heaven and stayed on him. This signifies a confirmation that God was with Jesus. The presence of God in our lives indicates we are of God. There’s confidence in knowing God is with you. Knowing he is pleased with you.

The presence of God was also present in his ministry. Jesus did not work on earth without a presence. Without a helper. Ever read Acts 10:38? What a powerful verse! God anointed Christ with the Holy Ghost and then with Power. The Holy Spirit with him enabled him to perform GREAT miracles and wonders! Everywhere Jesus went, He was doing gooooood. John records Jesus performed many great miracles that couldn’t be documented.

I once found it hard to believe the words of Jesus in John 14:12. He tells us we will do greater works than he has done if we believe. Sincerely, how?? But verses after that (verse 16 downwards) he began to speak of a Helper. The Holy Ghost. The Enabler. We can perform greattttt miracles by the Spirit if we just believe. We ought not to be tongue talking blasting Christians, filled with the Holy Ghost yet do not walk in the supernatural. The Presence of God with you enables the easy flow of the Supernatural.

Jesus commanded his disciples to wait for the coming of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is the source of Power! He is the source of Ability! Next week, we will be learning about the Presence of God with the Apostles. I’m readyyy, are you ready?

Heyyy there! I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH. I’m super grateful to God for being able to write to you again. I’m thankful for the strength of the Spirit. Grateful for the ability to continually write the heart of the Father even after one year. It’s another dayyy, week and time to write to you. I’ll be honest, this blog was not written in one sitting. I wrote each section at different times of the day. I’ve been busy, and overwhelmed. I was asking God earlier on if I could have 30 hours a day, so I have enough time to breathe. However, I’m forcefully finding time to rest. I’d love to share verses I’m holding on to in this season, but chances are, I’ll drift from the message of this blog. However, feel free to check out Psalms 27:14 and Psalms 61:2. 

The Presence with Bezalel.

Bezalel. Not so popular to all, but once you know him he becomes that guy to you. The “creatives wanna be”. Skilled artisan. Jack of all trades, Master of ALL. We can find Bezalel in Exodus 31:1-6 and other verses in Exodus. He was the lead artisan in building the Tabernacle. He was an all-round creative. There are numerous lessons to learn from Bezalel but I want to zoom in on verse three - “And I have filled him with the Spirit of God…” Bezalel was filled with the Spirit of God. It was the Holy Ghost with him that empowered him to carry out all tasks given to him. I do not want to dwell deep into the creative aspect.👀 However, the presence of God in a creative’s life enables him to create wonders. It gives him wisdom and ability. It equips him with POWER. Like Bezalel, you might have found yourself in a leadership role. It doesn’t have to be a role that requires you to edit graphics or videos, it could be any role. I’d like you to know the presence of God with you equips you fully for the tasks. I’ve seen how excellent I can become in serving when the Spirit takes over. I call it The Holy Ghost Effect.✨

The Presence with Obed-Edom.

Not to be a fan girl, but there’s a lot to learn about Bezalel if we meditate on the verses he’s mentioned. Let’s dive into Obed-Edom (you wouldn’t want to hear me pronounce his name💀). Obed-Edom was mentioned in 2 Samuel 6. David and the men of Israel were bringing the Ark of God back to Jerusalem. Now the oxen carrying the ark stumbled and Uzzah reached out his hand to hold the ark, trying to prevent it from falling. But the anger of the Lord came upon him which led to Uzzah’s instant death. Bible stories??? Loveeeeeeit.😌

Seeing this King David said, “Nah men. Ain’t no way this ark is coming to me”. I mean, who wants to die?😭 The ark was then taken to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. Remember the Ark of God signified the Presence of God. The Bible records because of the ark! Not the righteousness of Obed-Edom. Not his perfection and intelligence. But because of the Ark of God. The Presence of God in His house, the Lord blesses Obed-Edom and it was evident to all.

There are blessings attached to the Presence of God. Obed-Edom didn’t have to struggle for these blessings, just the presence of God was enough. Sometimes we often chase the blessings instead of the presence. Ever heard of “going for the gift instead of the giver”? Exactly. His presence changes things. His presence makes the difference. His presence uplifts lives. From a friend to a friend I’ll say, there is nothing like the Presence of God.

I felt overwhelmed recently. Also felt like no one would understand. Life was happening too fast. So I began to write to my God. Crying. Writing. Repeat. I looked up with teary eyes and realised there was a presence with me. It wasn’t there when I started writing. Not sure why he came. But he gave me peace. He made me remember in my weakness he is merciful. He assured me, that he was right by my side. It reminds me of a verse I hold so dearly:

Guyssssss do you know what day it is? 22nd May 2025. It’s our AHAVAH’s anniversary. A year ago, we launched this blog with our first blog Love: The Existence.🥹

365 days, 28 blogs, 135 friends later, we are one year brighter. I am super grateful to God, I didn’t picture a time like this coming. But in His mercies we can celebrate one yearrrr. Maybe it’s time to intensify. What do you think?👀

THE PRESENCE WITH DAVID.

We are still on The Presence of God, and before our celebration continues, let’s learn about the Presence of God. David is a character who surprises me. I enjoy reading Psalms, I enjoy reading his words. David was a man chasing after the heart of God. His love for God, despite his challenges, could only point to his unwavering love for God. Remember David killing Goliath? Ohhh, I remember a song in children's school, “Little David killed Goliath Hallelujah”. Everyone wanted to be David and not Goliath. Lol, we definitely can’t blame them. I have a question for you. From the story of David and Goliath, can you identify the Presence with David?

Goliath came with a Sword and clothed in his armour. I agree, David came with his five smooth stones and a sling. However, beyond what we can see, he came with a presence. Read the verse above again. He came in the name of the Lord of Hosts. Verses before that, Saul told David, “God and the Lord be with you!” (1 Sam 17:37). What problems do you have? What does Goliath stands before you? Don’t go before it with a vocabulary full of words. Go with the power and presence of God. Face it with stammering lips and boldness, the Lord your God is with you. Just like David, your Goliaths will crumble at the presence of God.

In the verses above, the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul while it came upon David. This signifies a change in God’s choice for Kingship. Saul was rejected as King, and David was anointed as King. If you remember our first blog, we explained what the Spirit Upon meant. The Spirit Upon us is the Anointing. This anointing in the Old Testament was used to distinguish priests and kings, to name a few. But that’s not where I am going. Hold on tight.👀 When the Spirit departed from Saul, it was the presence of God, the Holy Spirit with Saul, that had left. It was not the anointing. The Word of God says, “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable” (Rom‬ ‭11‬:‭29‬)‬‬. Saul began to be tormented because the presence of God was not with him. As for the anointing, he was still addressed as king. David did not become king two days after being anointed. Not at all. In 1 Sam 24:6, David refers to Saul as God’s anointed. Though Saul had erred and been rejected, he was anointed. What can we learn from this? While we don’t lose the Spirit in and upon us (John 14:16, Rom 11:29), it is possible to lose the Spirit with us, the Presence of God. Let’s take it a step further.

I always wondered why David said “Do not take Your Holy Spirit from me”. This was the Old Testament. So whyyyyyyyy will he pray such. Until I read a book by Bishop Dag Heward-Mills explaining the Presence of God. David wasn’t praying for the Spirit within or upon. If it was upon, he would have mentioned his throne, his kingdom. But in his repentance prayer what he was concerned was “The Presence”. He learnt from the life of Saul there’s no point being King when the presence of God has departed. There’s no point doing ministry or writing blogs if the Presence of God isn’t there. His presence makes the difference.

I’d be wrong not to include this. When Eli, the Priest, heard that Israel had fled before the Philistines and his two sons were dead. There was no reaction until he heard the ark of God had been captured. That was shocking news for Him. The ark of God signified the Presence of God. It is worth raising an alarm knowing the Presence of God had departed. Israel often took the ark to battles to signify that the Lord is with them, fighting for them. Further down the verse, Phinehas’s wife, hearing of the sad news, went into labour and named her child “Ichabod”. Because of the glory, the presence of God had departed from Israel.

Hiiii, I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH. How are you doing today? Personally, I’m gooood, and I have something special for you. A letter, yup. A letter on the Presence of God.

Last week, we learnt on the Holy Spirit in, upon and with us. Concluding the Holy Spirit with us is the Presence of God. We had beautiful verses to back up every point made. I learnt a lot from last letter, and I hope you did too.✨

THE PRESENCE WITH MOSES.

I’ve been wondering what I should write? How best can I explain this? But I trust the Holy Spirit to help us.

The Presence of God was with Moses. It was evident in his life and ministry. Leading the children of Israel wasn’t done by Moses’ strength. Moses was able to lead them because He had someone with him. Someone to lead them, while he was the vessel. From the verse below, we understand the presence of God with Moses, and by extension with the children of God.

A time came in their journey Moses said “If your presence will not go with us, do not bring us up from here”. Moses understood the necessity of the Presence. He understood the Presence of God is not a complimentary package or a want, it is a NEED. It was the presence of the Lord that kept them so far, continuing without his presence is would not go well. They were opened to disaster and harm if the Lord didn’t go with them. We must recognise the blessings in our lives as a result of the presence of God. We must pray for his presence, his contribution in every area. Maybe the dryness we experience in certain aspects of life is because his presence is not with us. He Let’s read the verse below:

Moses was a man of the presence. He understood what it meant to dwell in the presence of God. You know the song “Your Presence is Heaven to me?” I’d say that’s how Moses felt. Moses dwelt in the presence for long hours, that his face began to reflect the glory of the Lord (Exodus 34:29). A key note to learn is, Moses moved when the presence of God moved. To them, the presence of God was symbolised in the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night (Ex 13:21). Wherever the cloud stopped, they also stopped (Numbers 9:17-18). We must not be in haste that we go ahead of his presence.

The Presence of God with you brings about signs and wonders. Power is manifested in the presence of God. Through Moses, God parted the Red Sea, brought water from a rock. Manna and Quail fell from heaven. Israel fought and won many battles; conquering lands upon lands. The presence of God in our lives can be seen by the evidence of the supernatural around us. Let’s read the verses below:

When the presence of God is with us, He fights for us: “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace” (Exodus‬ ‭14‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV)‬‬. Today, pray for the presence of God. Ask him to lead you, ask him to be close to you. I don’t want to go anywhere without his presence. Also learn from the life of Moses, know and value the presence of God. His presence makes a difference.

THE PRESENCE OF GOD.

I’ve found ways to incorporate this topic into many other themes, but this month, it is our theme. I cherish this topic so much, and I believe it will bless you, too. Let’s start with a question: Who is the Presence of God? 

Is it the chills we feel when some good worship music comes on? No. The Presence of God is not an emotion or even a place. It is a Person. If you’ve been following AHAVAH, you’d be able to guess who He is. If you said “The Holy Ghost” you’re 100% right. If you didn’t, no shame, we are all learning. So let’s allow the Spirit of God to teach us about ‘himself’ and my prayer is we encounter the presence of God as we learn. Amen.

The Presence of God is the Spirit of God with us. The Spirit of God in our midst. There are blessings that come from His presence, like the fullness of joy(Ps 16:11), peace(Phil 4:6-7), liberty (2 Cor 3:17) and much more. However, these are not the presence. They are benefits of His presence. Let’s think. Matthew 18:20 says: “For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them”. The word of God says “THERE AM I IN THE MIDST OF THEM”. I’d love to explain that the presence of God in the gathering of the saints, is the Holy Spirit. As we go to church to worship, pray, fellowship and be taught the Word of God, God says He is in our midst, because He has given us His Spirit. I understand why Jesus said to His disciples to wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit (Acts 1:4-8). The disciples needed the Presence of God, how dangerous would it be to do the Work of God without His Presence? Let’s go into something veryyy important. 

THE HOLY SPIRIT UPON, IN AND WITH US.

The Spirit of God UPON us is called “The Anointing”. The Anointing enables us do to the work of God. It is by the Spirit we perform miracles, heal the sick, raise the dead (Acts 10:38). The anointing can also be expressed in diverse gifts all given by the Spirit (1 Cor 12:7-11). In the Old Testament, “The Spirit Upon” was common. Kings, Priests, Prophets, Artisans were anointed, set apart, for the Work of God or Kingship. In the New Testament, the Holy Spirit within us makes us anointed. Are you a believer? Then you are anointed.

The Holy Spirit IN us is what we call “Holy Ghost Baptism”. The Old Testament saints did not have him in them, however, they had with and upon. It was receiving the Spirit in us, that Jesus told the Disciples to wait for. In the words of Jesus: “He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you” (John‬ ‭14‬:‭17‬ ‭NLT‬‬). It is the Holy Spirit in us that testifies we are children of God (Rom 8:16). Wrapping this point, having the Holy Spirit in you means you can receive the gift of tongues.

The Holy Spirit WITH us is “The Presence of God’. Both Old and New Testament believers had him with them. The Presence of God means God will be with us, wherever we go and in whatever we do. How precious is this? The Presence of God is not one to take for granted. The next blogs in the month will elaborate on the Presence of God and things to note. It will also answer questions such as: Can we lose the Presence of God? How can we carry His Presence? And highlight people in the Bible who were carriers of the Presence of God. It’s going to be a great one. So please share, tell a friend to tell a friend. And I pray we all experience the blessings of His Presence.

Ochuwa and her friend, The Holy Spirit

Hiiii, I’m Ochuwaghena from AHAVAH. A blog of and from the Lover. How are you doing? How has April being? I had a couple great people celebrate their birthday this month. And more to come.

I’d say every blog is unique. But this is dear to my heart. I’m writing on my friendship with Jesus and rounding up our series “Who is Jesus?” My final answer (blog) is, He is My Friend. I’ve witnessed different friends groups. And desired to be part of some. I’m not one to be seen outside. In boarding school, I was always in my room. Matter of fact, on weekends you see me by chance. “Ochuwa you’re around? You didn’t go home?” These are questions I get every weekend. I wouldn’t say I didn’t have friends, but I needed a special friend. And he found me.

The verse above shows Jesus calls us friends. He’s made his plans and desires known to us, and he then sees us as friends. I find it honourable. I consider it a great privilege. The succeeding verse reads “You didn’t choose me, I chose you”. He took the first step in our friendship. This means he saw something great in me. Not everyone knows my name, or your name, you might just be that guy who is always around- “I’ve seen you before”. But he knows us. And he calls us friends.

John 15:13, proves the great significance we hold in the heart of Jesus. He loved us that he gave his very life. He saved us. However we do have a part to play. Ever heard children say “I will not be your friend if you don’t play with me”? Sounds familiar? Jesus gives us a clause. We are his friends, if we do what he commands. If we can obey him. That’s all. Just obey him, acknowledge his instructions, his words, and yield. Obedience can move you from being a son of God to being a friend of God. You’re his child, but are you his friend?

I don’t just want to be called a Child of God. I want to be a friend of God. Like Abraham. Like Enoch. I want to walk daily with him, as I would with a friend. I don’t want to call the Holy Spirit my best friend as a cliché. I want to be closer to him. “Help me know you’re here. Help me know how much I need you Lord”. That’s my prayer. I want to be close to God. Where he is, that’s where you’ll find me. I want to wake up each morning and say like Pastor Benny Hinn will write “Good Morning Holy Spirit”. I need his contribution in my daily activities. His fellowship. His friendship. Matthew 28:20, Jesus speaking says: “I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.” I live with the consciousness, His right by my side. Like the popular hymn goes “What a friend we have in Jesus”. I sleep assured my friend watches over me. On days I have sleepless nights? I speak to my friend, because he’s always present. Never too far, never asleep. Right by my side.

I want to be known by God. Not by a popular friend group. Not by some high rank university students or content creators. I want to be known by him. I want to be the friend he consults when he has plans. A friend that stickers closer than a brother. So when I lay at night, he’ll tell me the creative plans he has. How we can work together. I want to be the girl he finds to stand in the gap. When you look down Jesus, can I be the friend you see? Can I be your best friend?

I used to feel lonely, not anymore. I have a friend in Jesus. He’s given me his very Spirit as a friend too. Now I can hold conversations with the Holy Spirit and feel the presence of God, right by my side. I can walk on the streets knowing he’s walking with me. I can make plans, and my friend will contribute. Because if he doesn’t go with me, I don’t want to go. I value my friendship with Jesus, and with the Spirit he’s given me. We all should. You can start by saying hiii to him, and wait for a reply. He’ll respond.💕

Come and experience friendship with Jesus. A friend that loves like no other. A friend that’s present 25/8. A friend you can trust. Oh come! He is a giver of friends. Ochuwa, Jesus and the Holy Spirit

“For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Hii I’m Ochuwa from AHAVAH. Permit this letter to be different. It's a little bit different from the rest. We’ve been on the series “WHO IS JESUS?” This week, we are learning He is the Saviour of the World. I’m leaving this blog to the Holy Spirit, the topic is tender and dear to me. I think he’ll handle it best. 

SAVIOUR OF THE WORLD.

I don’t want to be part of those who forget the Sacrifice of Christ. His blood that cleansed my sins. His stripes that made me whole. His love that made a way. His heart, that forgave my sins. I don’t want to familiarise myself with John 3:16; and not see love in that verse. I will never forget the privilege Jesus gave me, that I can call His Father, My Father. That I can whisper “Abba Father” and God will hear me - Romans 8:15. The crucifixion, death and resurrection of Christ is not a “we know how the story goes” type of thing. It’s not a “once upon a time” event. It paved an eternal life for those who believe in Jesus. It wasn’t our ‘right’ for Jesus to die for us. Nah, we weren’t qualified for the Son of the living God, to be mocked for you and I.

Oh the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God. Reckless unto the death of the Son. Humanity was headed to death. We were bound for hell but he re-routed us. God in his mercy sent His only son. Not one of his sons, or angels. He didn’t create a brand new being to die for our sins. Oh no, his son, Jesus came down for us. Imagine the heart of the father, watching his son die, so we can be reconciled to Him. Or imagine Jesus himself, born to die? The knowledge he came into the world to die for sins he didn’t make. He was a Carpenter’s son, so he dealt with nails and wood. I wonder how he felt looking at those nails and wood, knowing the purpose on earth. Only a great depth of love would drive him to die for us. He wasn’t forced to lay his life. A million Pharisees can’t put Jesus to death unless he wills.

It wasn’t an easy death. If it was, the Bible would have said so. Jesus hung on the cross in pain, his body sore, face unrecognisable but a heart full of love. He hoped that we would believe in Him. Don’t take it for granted. “I will give my life to Christ when I’m sixty”. Jesus didn’t wait till sixty to give his life for us. It would make so much sense for an old man to die for the world. But he didn’t, He gave his life at his best. Ever read John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (‭NIV‬‬). I love this verse, right from my primary two days. The love of God is beyond human reasoning. Jesus offers eternal life to all who believe. He tells me, he’s gone to prepare a place for me. 

I must acknowledged Jesus is the only way to the Father. The only way to eternal life. Taking a path that is not Christ, will not result to eternal life. It’s Jesus or nothing.

Oh, how I love Jesus. He saw something great in me. He qualified me for Heaven. I received his spirit as a permanent friend. In my weakness he was merciful. He redeemed me when I thought it was over. His love wiped my tears. He lightened my burdened heart. I wasn’t certain what my life would become when I said ‘yes’ to Him. But there was a thrill of hope in my heart. Daily, weekly, and monthly, he drew near to me. He became my friend. I don’t know how to convince you he changes life. All I have is scriptures, the Holy Spirit right in me bearing witness I am now a child of God, and… And a changed life. Oh, I can’t believe it. While I was yet a sinner, He saved me. If he saved me, he can save you too. Nobody who believes in Him is condemned. My bible says in Romans 8 vs 1: “Therefore there is now no condemnation [no guilty verdict, no punishment] for those who are in Christ Jesus [who believe in Him as personal Lord and Savior]” (AMP).
