There was an opposing counsel on one of my cases who I didn't know at all. I had been slow getting him some things and so I played the personal card which I tried not to do often. He was very understanding and professionally courteous.

One Friday, I had swung by my office to check mail and grab checks, etc. I saw a card from out of state, which was unusual. I opened it up and it was a short hand-written note from that man; that attorney from out of state who was helping try and settle a litigation matter. The message short but incredibly impactful. He had taken a moment to simply offer me his support; condolences, I guess. Man to man. He had done that in ink.

I was coming off such a brutal week that I just kind of slunk into my chair and sat with that for a minute. I pictured this guy (face unknown) taking the time during a business day to find a card, write me a message, do whatever needs to be done to have it mailed. It was a big firm, but that kind of cuts both ways. Sure, the logistics of the mail was easier; but his day is valuable and scheduled stretched-thin.

It was incredibly meaningful. It felt like he had reached out hugged me. And fuck man, I needed that hug at that moment. I was very alone in that after-hours moment in my office. I didn't think tons of the meaning beyond what an incredible reflection it was of this man. I never thought of him the same. What did it take investment-wise for him to do that? 10 minutes? The magnitude comes from the mere fact he would. Whether through personal tragedy or natural disaster, simple humanity has such healing power when humans are hurting and down.

What led to me to share this personal moment with a wider audience was the last page of this story (for now). Just last week, I interacted with this gentleman again after I returned from California. I had to tighten the debt collection vice-grip. Hey man, we're both just doing our jobs and this is how and why we know each other. But it's nice to do business with nice people. That's somewhat rare in law. It's quite rare in litigation. Exceedingly so within debt collection. So we did our thing and did it kind when he ended his final message with two short lines…

“By the way, how is your mom doing?”

… One hard return but a lifetime later…

“I lost mine at the beginning of June, so cherish the time.”

It explained the card. I sobbed when I read that. It all crashed down on me (again). I too will deliver wisdom from that end of the stick. Who knows when we're even talking. Man, I'm leaking again writing this. It overwhelms me when I sit with it. But I need to. I process through recap.

You can tell where things will fall down the fault lines before they ever get there. We need new leaders so badly across almost every aspect of our terrain. I’m of course seeing how this idiot (and his fanboys) are all now going to become the new stand-in “The Monster” mascot used to paint all political/ideological opposition as innately bad so that America will blindly vote back in the same insane Progress (D-Equity-I/decolonizing) agenda that brought us here and that we just repelled. And so when this floated by me on the X river with a 5:55am drop time, it landed like a ton of bricks. Holy shit, here was The Borg already pouncing on this land! And man, was it rich…

Masculinism! Now, I’m not going to drift off here, but understand that I have long-running beef with the do-no-wrong feminist troop around The Atlantic and Bulwark. And this includes male ones like Derek Thompson. I think they are terribly dirty dealers in the world of journalism. I’ve documented why extensively; even wrote about it again today. I also recognize that this narrow and siloed slice of society became almost unassaible in Liberal Land. As did specific and specifically credentialed women like Helen Lewis.

A primary reason this lunchtable does not like me (and have mostly all blocked me) is because I don’t grant this deference or high-podium respect onto really anyone in those ranks. There are some who have remained intellectually honest and do good work and I hold in high-regard. But they don’t write about masculinism and mysogynoir. That’s tabloid shit rendered into weighty academic material because of academic titles that most people I know IRL don’t care about. I used to think Thomas Chatterton-Williams had something unique and valuable to offer. Then I see him running childish Hatecraft to advance bare politics and perform online about being grateful to have two passports so he can flee the county if needed after Dobbs. WTAF flee to where, guy? France, which has more restrictive abortion law than Roe? Why would you need to leave NY when they actually expanded abortion access after its repeal? It makes no sense. It’s all so self-serving and dumb. The use of Hatecraft to drive agenda without having to defend it has made me lose respect for a lot of people.

The trick Helen plays in here (just like Sophie does, just like Caitlin does, just like Cathy does, etc etc) is to draw out the absolutely worst of the right and then characturize that as a The Monsters mascot to then cast everything conservative (any opposition) into. This tactic is so trite and transparent; it’s wild to me that it still has such traction. Look who they promote in that piece as being representative of regular men who don’t want a society crafted by and for feminists. I don’t care much about any of those dudes. Reminds me a lot of promoting Nick Fuentes and then using mainstream outlets to paint all conservatives as Nazis. Lightbulb! That Atlantic/Bulwark bunch does exactly that, all the time, you just slightly change the Viewfinder. It sickens me and I’ve made it clear to them. I don’t pull punches because I don’t throw them until they’re warranted. They were probably wise to wall off from me. It’s hard to face someone when they can embarass you with your own words - especially when you’re paid for those words as a purported professional.

I couldn’t believe that Helen called out Lomez in that piece. Lol I had just been mentally wrapped-up in that dialogue when I went to bed. The cattiness of her writing is so gross to me. In every instance there, she drapes the costume of Monster over someone and then implies the political state of America is a binary question decided by that framing. One’s brain has to be so fried (so willing to follow) for that to hold at all logically. She talks about policy that is objectively insane; yet, those of us in Florida don’t want insanity. In fact, we’ve become our nation’s bulwark against it! What have this woman’s receipts been like under Progress and LGBTQ? She touts Kamala in that article and implies she only lost because The Mysogny doesn’t like Girl Boss. What?!? It’s so disrespectful to every audience except for hers. She obviously knows nothing about regular American men… or at the very least is paid well to pretend.

Really my point in all of this is our moment is calling for new voices. I’m not implying I’m some mountain of a presence, but I promise you I can speak well on these issues. I also promise you that none of these feminist spells and Highly Educated DM manuals mean a damn thing to me. They don’t work on me and people like me. I’ve been immune to Hatecraft my entire life. I just witnessed such a revealing moment in Old Town. A microcosm for the greater transformation forced on us all with expert-only approval. A half-hour or so prior, I was standing at a crosswalk around our oldest public square as I often do these precious mornings. That’s because I’m watching over my most precious treasure. There are a lot of us doing the same. I write about them. I try and convey the energy which forms this shield. I shook hands with a police commander who is a lion of a man! He is the kind of figure every town feels safer for having. Today was his last time standing this important post as he is retiring. A chapter of life enjoyment well earned. We’ll miss him. I remember the first time I ever understood who (or what) he was…

I’ll never forget the look of that dude pulling up on the scene to lead that convoy. The man stepped out of his SUV with such swagger I felt like I was in a movie. But it wasn’t performative or fake; he is just that badass. Like the wild-eyed burly biker man I described in the heat of the moment, the presence of a lion like this brings comfort to everyone around. I later saw him speak at a townhall where I spoke myself because the issues were so important and impactful. We’ll all miss his leadership.

So I was already in a “love me some Saint Johns troops!” kinda mood when I walked to my car to shoot off to the office because unfortunately I couldn’t stay for today's service. I had seen this one guy walk by earlier, right before I shook Captain’s hand. He’s the crazy dread guy I’ve written about on X before. He moved into town maybe 4-6 months ago and has been a nonstop presence since. He’s clearly homeless as he’s always in this plaza and runs in that crowd. I watch that crowd closely myself.

He walked by the two main cops who tried to be friendly to him. He wasn’t having it. Whatevs; that interaction was fleeting. But here was buddy again next to me, ready to do what he does in Old Town. I was there a couple weeks ago pre-sunrise and saw him wake up. He was yelling madness within 100 seconds of opening his eyes. I’m serious. I can never really tell if it’s crazy religious talk or just crazy crazy talk. It doesn’t matter much. He’s angry and hostile and his story won’t end well. His mad mind doesn’t even want it to end well. That’s why he yells so intensely at public air. Crowded public air, worth noting. Nobody would give a shit if this man yelled all day in deep woods. But then he wouldn’t have his only remaining form of social status and currency: that of societal menace.

He’s right next to me talking to some other guy as I’m getting in my driver side. I had a few things to shuffle around before I pulled out and so I had my eyes on him. The large police unit around the church was on lessened duty for the next hour and I noticed one young officer walking over our way. He too was badass; walking like he had purpose. He was also beelining for homeboy. The man walked up to that other one like something out of the Wild Wild West. He just had his thumbs in a vest instead of beltstraps. I couldn’t see the cop once he made it to angry man because of a monument between us. But I could tell by buddy’s angered reaction that they were no longer saying “Good morning” or “Careful of that puddle”. Cop had come to chin-check that guy because he was already acting a fool. Cop had come to make it known they were there and they were watching him. I actually don’t know what he said - something about all the shit the guy had laid over the monument because he had all his bag-belongings with him. He just kept replying over and over and louder and louder why the cops weren’t telling everyone else in the park the same thing. “This isn't fair! Social Justice!”, you can almost picture it as. Lol STFU and now we’re at the point of this piece…

What really needs to be said in return to this loon is that he specifically is targeted and picked on by police because they are wise and know he is a scumbag and a menace to everyone around him. That his broken family story or history of abuse and abandonment is not a factor in the present crime-surveiling analysis. That nobody, and I mean nobody, in the entire surrounding area gives one shit about what he is wailing about every day or why he thinks he has all these great rights to do so. He knows your odds are through the roof stacked next to mine. So he’s actually doing a damn good job of what we pay him for. This is life on the streets of Florida. This is reality when it’s not governed by sheltered academics and fringe-types who LARP as revolutionaries because they fail in freedom and meritocracy.

But the modern political Liberal can’t view this interaction the same at all. The Bleeding Heart must find a way to swoop in behind the miscreant, paint his (objective) societal destruction into whatever form of noble heroism can fit, and then rally emotionally behind them to generate more Hatecraft against political opponents and for political causes that don’t have anything to do with cops or safety or American society. If you think that’s so harsh as to be unfair, I’d submit you yourself have begun to become a mental blob to this same degenerative Good Person programming. Let me tell another story…

I was out in Jax Beach once maybe 5 years ago and as I’m coming out of a Marshalls or something, like 6 police cars and SUVs come crashing in on a car way out in the shopping center’s parking lot. I watched it long enough to see that it was an older couple with a grocery cart full of stuff being cuffed. I would later learn it was a sting on habitual (see: criminal) shoplifters. Now, recall the time-period. This is when “Black Lives Matter” mania for Liberals (which was about Queer and feminism and globalism and Equity bullshit from day one) had consumed our nation because of media/institutional capture and a lot of heavily-blue areas were decriminalizing crimes like shoplifing. I went and posted about this sight on X and kind of chest-pounded about it showing why Florida is different and we don’t elevate criminals over society and the law-abiding. Shit you not, a bunch of people got up in my replies basically calling me a bootlicker, in juvenile or intellectual ways. I don’t want to name drop, but a few of these were people I liked, man. Those in our Twitter woods. They were just incapable of NOT putting the sympathy for the objectively-wrong party (criminal) over the interests of society and the law-abiding. They had to, just HAD to, invent a sympathy pattern where we feel bad for the thieves so we can weaponize emotion back the other way at targets already under attack. No, I don’t give a damn if they are old or poor. I don’t care about them at all. I’m glad they got crushed and cuffed and I hope they receive maximum penalty under the statute. I hope their arrest and incarceration deters anyone else (similarly situated or not) from also going out and just stealing shit because they think they’re entitled to. That’s not how a country works; it is how one breaks. I want our focus to be on good people who do good things. Anchoring to our bottom is insanity. It's a death spiral.

My oldest has wanted to see the mountains and true green terrain for a long time now. We daydream often about beautiful forest streams and coves. We call them “Walden”. She's a neat girl; very artsy, loves to read, super religious, connected with nature. I too have been yearning to get among new land. I’ve got an insatiable sense of wanderlust now! But it doesn’t want to wander all that far. I want to go bathe in America. Turn over those IRL rocks and explore all the fantastic fabric that doesn’t make our silver screens anymore. For this first family road trip, I envisioned cabin in the mountains. Green, crisp, elevation, new paths for me to explore and an all new terrain for my children to experience and begin to understand. All they really know is the tropics. Lol

Tomorrow we will bug out, indeed. I don’t really have plans, other than I know where we're sleeping. “Camping without the tent” is what I think I've put together. My Long Island Lolia is not a tent girl. You should have seen the sight of this well-dressed young lady attending the Indiana State Fair. 🤣 we saw a calf birthed; pet pigs; tromped in mud. She had nice shoes on and brought a nice purse. It was like a scene from that Reese Witherspoon movie. I was immediately drawn to Appalachia. It's a truly one of a kind slice of our country and it's one I haven't explored enough. I spent my formative years in Northern Virginia and we went to the Blue Ridge a few times. I’ve never been in the real deep stuff. So I booked us a spot in the Nantahala national park on the western edge of North Carolina.

We are within the rainforest portion which I am so stoked about! The pictures look like something from an Avatar film.

My kids have never seen earth like this. It will be magical! I will be on Cloud 9 myself as I've needed to breathe more than ever. Mid-life crising and family triaging has me maxed out. We are going to start out west and head through adorable Green Cove Springs. I'm looking forward to the drive as much as the cabin. You won't find us on any big highways. One of the area's best coffee houses is out that way. Check!

After that, we will cruise through the tiny town of Starke FL, head up into Georgia throughthe Antebellum Trail, and splash down for the night in Madison. American charm in spades!

Those towns look alike. I suspect my kids will be vibed out and high on Americana before we ever reach those mountains.

Today was prep day. We had a wonderful morning in Old Town. I hope you've all had a wonderful Easter Sunday. St. Augustine was lit! When we drove in we saw a ton of people pouring off a mass at the Shrine, the original landing place of this faith. Paritioners from various churches were all over town and brightly dressed. It was lovely! Our cathedral had a line to get in down the block. I’ve never seen anything like it.

A CNN article I read this morning about Christianity (the only one on this most holy day, of course. Written by Critical Christ Theory/Equity zealot John Blake, of course) dropped the line “attendance at church is plummeting”. Lol not here, pal, in our nation’s oldest roots. I'd bet good coin that churches were well attended through Starke, up 441, and all the way into Tennessee. You mean the places our journalists are from and write about, like NY and LA and Minneapolis and Portland and Seattle and Chicago, are all significantly atheist now because they radicalized around an anti-everything ideology manufactured into a political platform of rabid zealotry? Yeah, we know.

This is the start of a pumpkin patch. I just noticed yesterday and am geeked! I let a pumpkin rot in my landscaping bed by accident about 7 years ago. It sprouted a similar start like this which then exploded in growth! I've never seen anything like it. Little Shop of Horrors, man! The leaves were huge and seemingly growing a couple feet every day. I was worried it was going to consume all my sod. It was gorgeous though! So green and lush and happy. It sprouted orange flowers. Right as I was wondering what to do, I woke up one morning and it was gone. Completely gone; the whole patch. Deer had eaten it down to the dirt. Barely even left vine. Wild! They thought it was as delicious as I did. I’ve put them back intentionally ever year (in better spots) but nothing… until now! 😊🎃

That sprout made me so happy yesterday. So did this pre-church coffee with Jr.

He now loves coffee-soaked biscotti. My mom made me a coffee nut as a young boy sipping her stuff when I followed her around everywhere. Now I pass this torch down.

Avatars. I’ve not only watched the rise of them, I was part of their birth in digital form. There is a lot of truth under the concept of “lived experience”’. Just not in the 2+2=5 manner the Equity zealots so desperately want to deploy it. Across life, it is difficult to ever truly grasp something unless you have experienced it. One of the reasons I write with authority is because I stick to topics I’m not just well-versed on, but that I’ve been through. There is a difference between being familiar with something (even intimately) and having walked it. Man, I’ve been wrapped-up in avatars my whole time on this rock.

That was a fun thread to put together. Digital nostalgia! My passion here goes back even further than computers though. As does the concept of avatars, of course. Digitalizing them was a gamechanger, but the concepts are not new. My first role-playing love was the tabletops. I just posted this here last week…

Ultima Online is when the world changed. Well, that’s not quite accurate. There were a few precursors; this was just my personal fantasy-themed lane. But it was at this time when the creation of the internet and the rise of personal computers in homes or internet cafes across the planet allowed everyone to sit down at the same table and play Dungeons & Dragons together. But it wasn’t just D&D.

Look how quickly that game evolved! Those are screenshots from the first The Sims game through The Sims 3. The era of the MMORPG and the rise of the internet as a social living place (social-media) changed our world forever and hit that generation of youth like a freight train! Unlike those from my generation, they had no experience and understanding of this all, no priming coat. As I talked about in Part I, I had spent years role-playing as a dwarf or an elf or a ranger in my basement like a dork. I had spent countless nights escaping from reality to ride alongside mythical creatures like Drizzt in my mind. But when it was paper and dice and just you and those physically around you, it was always quite clear that it was fantasy. That it was not reality. There wasn’t a cognitive dissonance there yet, because the platforms just weren’t there yet. The ability to live inside a role-playing game was not a thing. And those who tried were looked down upon by all of society and isolated. 2 and 2 remained 4.

But now everything had changed. Poignantly so for kids growing up in this new digital Wild Wild West. Think of how the gaming side and the social channel evolved alongisde one another. You have the world of filters and artificial IG self-obsession. This is all our media pumped and highlighted for at least twenty straight years. It reached such a height of artificialness in aesthetic, that people (both man and woman) sstarted preesenting IRL like they were made of plastic. Max Headroom-level shit!

A pesudoworld with no limiting principles whatsoever…

Of course, then consider what a power it would be if a political team could control this digital terrain. If the words and mantras of certain ideologies were championed and elevated as inherently good, while the words and mantras of other ideologies were cast as wrong and hateful and even harm and violence. But I get into that plenty elsewhere. For this series, I want to remain focused on what this separation between the IRL person and the ethereal “other” in digital form has meant for the individual immersed on it… and what this means in the aggregate for all of us. I am definitely not part of the “Get off my lawn!” camp who thinks the solutions here are in the vein of halting and removing; that we can somehow avoid these issues (plagues) by reverting to the old ways. Those ways are gone. This is the steam engine blaring out acrosss the unsettled west. There is no removing those tracks, even if you did. It’s the industrial revolution but forcefully injected inside all of our minds. Wail against the force of technology and humanity all you want, but I won’t be alongside you. I want to help figure this out for the next waves of youth so they have a better chance of finding stability and normalcy, soil of reality they can plant their own seeds in. Our kids muust learn how to navigate these new waters, not avoid them. My son is playing his iPad next to me right now.

There are good applications of this as well, don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean to be casting some summary judgment. Again, I grew up with computers and the internet as they were both coming to be. I was operating as an avatar online in 1991 before the term “onlin” meant anyhing. 1200baud modems and single phone lines and funny noises and BBS’s. LFG!! I majored in computers and technology at undergrad. I AM this evolution. I’m just older now and have kids and am scared as hell for what this all means for them and their future. The fact we let a narrow stripe of zealots and perverts and maniacs hijack this all foor ideological purposes is enraging. What that ideological purpose is (and what it seeks to dismantle and destroy) is horrifying. But again, I’ll drill that way under other titles. I taught middle-school for a few years in Miami after I graduated. The IT bubble had just burst, long lines of people holding resumes with years of IT experience surrounded me at every job fair, and I became disillusioned with even wanting a caareer in tech. (Sorry, mom and dad. All of your wisdom was always dead-center). Wonderful job! I’d be teaching 10-12 year-old kids today if you didn’t have to cosign your life and family to having mid money forever. No, the summers off do not trade evenly. It’s a passion pursuit more than a career. God bless our teachers there for the right reason! Some of the most important citizens we have. Analyze these ranks and you can see (visually, on the surface) why our country and kids are so shot. Maybe 15% oof teachers in many schools even look sane at this point. It takes being at a reeally good school to not have wackos openly parading around as educators and pushing ideological social-justice garbage as curriculum. This is the opposite edge of the spectrum from allowing teachers to Bible-thump in public-school. But I’ll be fleeshing that out in great detail in “Lions, and Thetans, and Bi’s… Oh My!”.

One student in my computer class was a young girl I’ll call Becky. Becky was abnormal somehow. You can see it on her exterior insofar as she blushed real intensely and clammed—up with shyness in just about every social situation. Of course, 7th grade is basically one endless social situation, so this sweet and timid girl was almost always bright pink and nervous and not hanging out with the other kids. But she was also brilliant and a really kind soul. If you teach and don’t inherently spot these needs like a cop seeing evidence as they walk through a room, then you need to quit teaching and go find a job more suited for you. These are the kids who need a teacher’s extra care and touch. Easy for me becausse I loved the topic and we could communicate through it. We became fond of each other and I went out of my way to include Becky and maake her feel more comfortable when I could. You don’t want that artificial hand too much or it works against her. This was a two-way street somewhat as well. She was one of my best students and her work within coding was sensational! I liked seeing her work product and giving her advice back on how to improve. Input she could often go run with when others couldn’t even understand. I was told she had Asperger’s. While I’m skeptical about the whole suite of diagnoises there, she embodied my understanding of that one as well as I’ve seen.

Her parents eventually found out about the nice teacher in computer class and they reached out to me to see if I would tutor her privately. I agreed and won’t share much more in detail as these are private pages. But what I will share because it’s relevant here is I realized after session 2 or 3 that her parents were less interested in what new computer skills I was teaching her, and more having me come because my presence helped their daughter break out of her shell. She was a very different person in those sessions than in the classroom. One of the reasons for that is she largely… eh, I don’t want to say “spoke through” because it wasn’t stiff and artificial like a ventrioloquist or anything… operated as her avatars when I was there, She played several MMORPGs and in those worlds she didn’t have these obstacles. She didn’t turn bright red when people spoke to her. She didn’t fumble on her words before she could get them out. She wasn’t quiet at all. In fact, I watched her inside a couple of her games and she was a social butterfly. Aha! We’re landing on the real important nuggets here.

I was really moved by this whole experience. It was a wonderful experience, don’t get my angle wrong. I’m sharing a narrow one for the purpose of this piece. I genuinely enjoyed my time working with that girl and hope she went on to find contentment and do the creative things I know she was capable of. The whole thing was a win-win and it’s a life chapter I look back on very fondly and with great pride. It had me real close to dedicating my life to teaching. But there was a glaring concern presenting as well. What as the final landing place of the chasm we could all see forming? Yes, Becky didn’t have these hurdles on the interwebz. The digital realm allowed her to be whoever she wanted to be! She could leave everything she didn’t like behind. She coulld escape the bounds of reality. Hello, 2 + 2 = 5. The subjective > the objective. Textbook avatar, but now we’re living as it.

Except we’re not. We have to go to school every day, right? And we can’t be those superpowered avatars at school. All those old burdens come stacking back on our shoulder every day at 8am. Then we escape them again at 3pm. What becomes of this back and forth? Or, is this central to what we’re all going through as a society? Is this a central current to our “culture war”? I believe so. I mentioned my new series above which will be fleshing out my takes on the greater chessboard to a level I haven’t before. I can see the framing clicking on wildly now and I want to help try and cement it. It is time. We never escape this madness until we discuss it honestly. But a couple other angles I’ve been on tie directly here as well. “Anti-Bullying”. What do you think that is? Launches at the exact same time as the rise of this Avatar Culture madness (gaming, social, Hollywood and entertainment, fashion, everywhere!) and suddenly those who want to live as avatars are bring protected from the “hate” and “harm” of others. But why is my reality called “hate” and your role-play a new law of nature and societal default? Aha again! In the next part of this series, we’ll get into the political structure fueling this. “Social Emotional Learning (SEL)” and “Queering” as “safety”. The most pretextual policy we’ve ever seen. It was to cement avatars in permanency. It was to prevent those against this (the sane) from even being able to assert objective reality. 2 + 2 = 4 becomes “far-right” and not of the “moral majority”. Says who? The Same people casting out all the avatars.

The only difference between Ramself and “trans” is the amount of institutional authority suddenly behind the latter. The doctrine of 2+2=5 which fuels this entire ideological set cannot distinguish between the two. Nor can it medically distinguish between “trans” and anorexia. The primary difference there is treatment method. What we were allowing (being forced to allow before the dreaded reactionary right-wing fascists stopped it) was objectively ruinous. And if the party of median Democrats, the party of Liberals on our political chessboard, got power back today, this becomes all-consuming top-down dogmatic policy as LGBTQ+ again tomorrow. There is no separation between the two whatsoever. Only propaganda and wordplay; blinding political opposition as common aggressor.

Well, here we are: birthright citizenship. Perhaps the most important legal moment of our lives. My primary objective with this piece is to flesh out the legal analysis underlying this powder keg of an issue. Obviously, that needs to be focused on the case before SCOTUS; however, the issue itself is much bigger than Trump v. Barbara (No. 25-365). The issue is bigger than United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898). In order to understand where we are and what we’re facing, in order to even grasp the legal mechanics which built the framework we currently operate in, you really have to rewind in time well before that. Before there even was an America…

Jus soli. “Right of land”. It’s a juxtaposition to jus sanguinis “right of blood”; which ties rights (citizenship) to familial lineage rather than place of birth. This is an English common-law (fuedal) principal brought to the New World by colonists.

Every one born within the dominions of the King of England, whether here or in his colonies or dependencies, being under the protection of—therefore, according to our common law, owes allegiance to—the King and is subject to all the duties and entitled to enjoy all the rights and liberties of an Englishman.

Calvin’s Case (1608), 77 Eng. Rep. 377

Ironically, it was really law crafted to ensnare those born on soil as subjects, rather than bestowing them with some independent sense of “citizenship”. But the legal mechanics applied the same, and over the centuries, the latter use went on to almost entirely supplant the former. The earliest American patriots would not have wanted anything to do with subjugation to a monarch. But the initial boots on American soil used these principles to claim who was and was not subject to the British Crown. While we associate “citizenship” with claiming rights of land, at this point in time, we’re still centuries from when discussions of a USA can make sense at all. Over that significant gap of time, the theoretical frameworks of legal concepts such as land ownership (fee simple), homestead, citizenship, etc, were evolving alongside the conquest and expansion and transformation of the new west (and New World).

By our nation’s founding, the notion of “citizenship” itself was very fluid. We were not a national conglomerate. Heavens no! We were built from the fire which tears that apart. We were, have been, are, and always will be, a collection (republic) of states which came together to form a collective pact (union) because the members of each state believed the bond and agreements (duties and allegiances) would strengthen each and give them a better chance to survive those wild and hostile times. You’ll note that the conquistadors further south often took a different approach. No country in the southern Americas cooked-up in the kiln quite like we did. Our patriots are unique and our soil is special. The notion (swagger) of American exceptionalism has old and distinguished roots.

During the Constitutional era, the “citizenship” sword began to take on a much greater second-edge. That being exclusion rather than subjugation. But no matter which way you cut it, there is clear guidance about birthright citizenship back to the beginnings of our nation. Our patriots understood the importance of this stake to claim; both the ability for new births to latch on, and the need for lines to be drawn and exclude. As a legal practitioner, we look to “legislative history”, or “dicta”, or “public policy” arguments to try and understand the spirit of why law was passed. This is essential for judges in interpreting how and when a law can change. These are not binding precedents, but illustrations of why law was originated and, in many cases, codifications of the discussions that went into the final passing (like building blocks). Nothing helps you understand a law better than understanding how it got cooked-up and why. Look at these quotes about citizenship from this era…

The better to secure and perpetuate mutual friendship and intercourse among the people of the different states in this union, the free inhabitants of each of these states, paupers, vagabonds and fugitives from justice excepted, shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of free citizens in the several states; and the people of each state shall have free ingress and regress to and from any other state, and shall enjoy therein all the privileges of trade and commerce, subject to the same duties, impositions and restrictions as the inhabitants thereof respectively…

This was in the context of states’ honoring citizenship between them. But that language drawing a line between “free inhabitants” and “free citizens” is vital. Further, all the way back in the Articles, the Framers are contemplating (and memorializing) that citizenship will functionally and innately operate in an exclusionary manner. Here we see some of the first explicit carve-outs to birthright citizenship.

“paupers, vagabonds and fugitives from justice excepted”

Attached to the very idea of bestowing rights on someone for simply being here is the very sensible notion that it won’t automatically apply to everyone. More specifically, it’s not going to apply to those who are deleterious to our society. Yeah, of course! Criminals, wanderers, lifelong leeches? No, you won’t get to just be part of this state (or be an American) because your momma was here when you were born. Sounds harsh, but it’s just reality. To erect no borders at all to this stake of claim would be suicide of your sovereignty (and your ways) at the very time you’re establishing it.

In the fourth article of the Confederation, it is declared ‘that the FREE INHABITANTS of each of these States, paupers, vagabonds, and fugitives from justice, excepted, shall be entitled to all privileges and immunities of FREE CITIZENS in the several States…’ There is a confusion of language here, which is remarkable. … It seems to be a construction scarcely avoidable, however, that those who come under the denomination of FREE INHABITANTS of a State, although not citizens of such State, are entitled, in every other State, to all the privileges of FREE CITIZENS of the latter…”

Federalist No. 42 (James Madison, Jan. 22, 1788).

It’s a brilliant passage in its own contradictions. The language of that time is such a gift to the modern mind. We should teach these topics more to kids in public school. Everyone should read the Federalist Papers. What Madison is cautioning about there is how a person deemed a citizen in one state who is nothing more than an inhabitant in another can hack the system if all states must grant reciprocity. These are all foreshadows of the debates we’ve crashed down on hundreds of years later. They knew that; it’s why they took such tedious time to analyze, debate, and write this all down in such detail.

No birthright citizenship clause was debated or enacted at the 1787 Constitutional Convention. The Framers granted Congress power “to establish a uniform Rule of Naturalization” (U.S. Const. art. I, § 8, cl. 4) and required the President to be a “natural born Citizen” (art. II, § 1, cl. 5), but left the substance of citizenship to inherited tradition and, most importantly, to the states themselves. The Privileges and Immunities Clause presupposed state-defined citizenship. The Constitution was a defensive pact; it was never intended to nationalize membership. Even when it did, unquestionably, citizenship privileges have never been automatic or unlimited. Such an external locus of core policy would be self-destructive. It’s fascinating to see how what I call today “Hatecraft” was used even back then to squash this vital debate. This passage is routinely referred to as “racist”. I find it to be logically sound.

I am really desirous to have a legal definition of ‘citizenship of the United States.’ What does it mean? … Is the child of the Chinese immigrant in California a citizen? Is the child of a Gypsy born in Pennsylvania a citizen? … [The Gypsies] acknowledge no allegiance, either to the State or to the General Government. … They have no homes; they have no fixed place of residence; they wander in gangs; they live nowhere; they are a sort of wandering tribe … they live by pilfering … Is it proposed that the people of California are to remain quiescent while they are overrun by a flood of immigration of the Mongol race? Are they to be immigrated out of house and home by Chinese? … If they have an opportunity of pouring in such an immigration as in a short time will double or treble the population of California, I ask, are the people of California powerless to protect themselves?

I am clearly of opinion, that rather than have the common class of vagrants, paupers, and other outcasts of Europe, that we had better be as we are, and trust to the natural increase of our population for inhabitants.

The more cited trio of exceptions “children of foreign diplomats, foreign invaders, Indian tribes” is both older and newer than the above. Older because it derives from the English common-law principle above (Calvin’s Case in 1608). These are just common sense. No, you wouldn’t want the baby of a visiting foreign leader, those of an invading army, or the natives you conquered to settle the land, to automatically become members of the fortress you are building. But these were not discussed back in those seminal 18th century moments in America. Again, the national charter was not intended to define this. That comes up in our post-Dred Scott dicta and legislative history. Let’s skip forward a few chapters…

The fluid environment I detailed above allowed for each state to determine who was a citizen. Madison’s contradiction and game-ending issue aside, this paired well with the spirit of the times. The local people could decide who was to be part of those peoples and their land. Of course, these were quite barbaric times. This is the era of slavery. Global slavery, but we were a hotbed. As the tensions around the Civil War would lead to the slavery dam breaking here in the New World and then for most of the whole world, the states who didn’t want that were of course not having anything to do with granting all freed slaves equal rights as “citizens”. Remember, our Founders made slaves not even whole people under the original document. That is a fascinating story in of itself as many (myself included) believe the slavery provisions were embedded as seeds they knew woud erupt and end the practice. We were liberal from origin. That used to be a good thing.

Eventually, as the intellectual shackles holding slavery together began to crumble, many states had put these anti-black laws on the books. There were larger legal initiatives meant to counter them and a clear confrontation brewing. Four years before the first shot of the Civil War, SCOTUS issued the Dred Scott opinion which functionally nationalized the most restrictive southern view that black people on American soil could never be citizens.

[T]hey [persons of African descent] were at that time [1787] considered as a subordinate and inferior class of beings, who had been subjugated by the dominant race, and, whether emancipated or not, yet remained subject to their authority, and had no rights or privileges but such as those who held the power and the Government might choose to grant them.

Dred Scott v. Sandford, 60 U.S. 393, 404–05 (1857) (Taney, C.J.).

The ruling also struck down the Missouri Compromise and meant Congress had no power to ban slavery in the territories. In one stroke, Dred Scott made clear that the status quo, fluid, state-by-state approach to citizenship could not survive this boiling crisis. The Civil War and the Reconstruction Amendments were the direct response. The 13th Amendment ended slavery. The 14th Amendment nationalized citizenship once and for all. Its very first sentence was written to overrule Dred Scott and prevent any state from ever denying citizenship to black Americans born on U.S. soil again:

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.

U.S. Const. amend. XIV, § 1 (ratified July 9, 1868).

For the first time, birth on our soil created uniform national citizenship that no state could deny. Well, birth that was “subject to U.S. jurisdiction”. And what did that mean? SCOTUS heard oral arguments in 2026 on what that means. This is the quandary. This is the true starting place of our legal analysis. I don’t mean to imply I have the definitive answer. There is no such thing. Our law and even our Constitution is a living body. But the hinge was created here. The discussion back then was swirling with exceptions. The three common-law described above were clearly codified at this time.

“This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.”

Sen. Jacob M. Howard, Cong. Globe, 39th Cong., 1st Sess. 2890 (May 30, 1866)

But it went further. Sen. Lyman Trumbull, who wrote the 1866 Civil Rights Act:

“The provision is, that ‘all persons born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens.’ That means ‘subject to the complete jurisdiction thereof.’ … What do we mean by ‘subject to the jurisdiction of the United States?’ Not owing allegiance to anybody else.”

Cong. Globe, 39th Cong., 1st Sess. 2893–94 (May 30, 1866)

This language was repeatedly used to exclude those with foreign diplomatic immunity or tribal allegiance (Indians were treated as owing allegiance to their tribes, not the US). The push and pull in this area over what allegiances should control is a very important dialogue applicable to today. In all the discussion around this, and considering how important this issue and interpretation is to the future (survival) of the US, it’s surprising that it has only been directly interpreted once by SCOTUS. That’s the case which today’s oral arguments are relying so heavily on, United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 U.S. 649 (1898).

The Plaintiff there was the son of two lawful Chinese residents who did not qualify for permanent citizenship. He left the country after living his life in the States and was prohibited from reentry due to being a noncitizen. He claimed the protections of the 14th Amendment made him a citizen by birth. “Birthright”. The Court agreed 6-2. It is a ruling that has remained in place for 128 years.

The Fourteenth Amendment affirms the ancient and fundamental rule of citizenship by birth within the territory, in the allegiance and under the protection of the country, including all children here born of resident aliens, with the exceptions or qualifications (as old as the rule itself) of children of foreign sovereigns or their ministers, or born on foreign public ships, or of enemies within and during a hostile occupation of part of our territory, and with the single additional exception of children of members of the Indian tribes owing direct allegiance to their several tribes.

Does a child born on U.S. soil to non-citizen immigrant parents (who are lawfully residing here) automatically become a U.S. citizen under the 14th Amendment?

Yes. But legally, this ruling does three things:

1. Affirmed jus soli (“right of the soil”) as the default rule in America.

2. Interpreted “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” broadly, including children of lawful resident aliens (noncitizens).

3. Made the 14th Amendment’s “Citizenship Clause” apply regardless of race.

It also rejected the narrower “political jurisdiction/complete allegiance” view pushed by dissenting courts above. It remains the central case cited whenever birthright citizenship is challenged. It’s critical to note the case involves parents here legally and with active lawful status; however, this ruling has been extended by many lower courts to include children of illegal aliens. Without this 1898 decision, the scope of birthright citizenship would have no binding precedent at all. In terms of its application to illegals, there is no binding precedent as this does not control. That’s why Trump filed this action and why his legal team thinks they have a shot.

But believing you are on the right side of an argument and winning in court (especially SCOTUS) are very different animals. Here is the language of Trump’s Executive Order being challenged:

“It is the policy of the United States that no department or agency of the United States government shall issue documents recognizing United States citizenship, or accept documents issued by State, local, or other governments or authorities purporting to recognize United States citizenship, to persons:

(1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or

(2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States at the time of said person’s birth was lawful but temporary (such as, but not limited to, visiting the United States under the auspices of the Visa Waiver Program or visiting on a student, work, or tourist visa) and the person’s father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth.”

Exec. Order No. 14160, § 2(a), 90 Fed. Reg. 8449 (Jan. 29, 2025)

Tomorrow I will write a second piece with some thoughts on oral arguments today. Wong Kim Ark involved lawful, permanent resident noncitizens. Today’s dispute in Trump v. Barbara tests whether that holding extends to children of temporary visa holders and those here illegally. These are new categories the 1898 Court never addressed. But I doubt SCOTUS rules in Trump’s favor. I think it likely requires congressional action, at a minimum. Even directing agencies not to enforce won’t work because it’s a matter of invalidating rights which are borne from citizenship. Congress has already spoken through 8 U.S.C. § 1401(a), which has been in place since the Nationality Act of 1940 and the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952. It leaves the same ambiguity about “subject to jurisdiction”, but an executive order that directs agencies to refuse citizenship documents in categories the statute does not exclude can be ruled invalid as being against the will of Congress. I think SCOTUS gets out from the massive greater issue on this hinge alone. And it’s probably the right ruling. The history of this which I’ve laid out here is hard to be unwound by Executive pen stroke. Sure, I get the maddening irony there. But that doesn’t change the legal analysis. There is an angle and a possibiity though. I’ve fleshed it out in this essay. The precedent is not clear or binding on the situation we now face. Our Founders would be red in the face that this is even a discussion and ready to fight another revolutionary war over the situation of illegals here by executive fiat.

Now, even though Trump’s E.O. does not apply retroactively, this discussion is not complete (and very misleading) without extrapolating this all into what and how it means for the tens of millions of noncitizens we have in America already, many of whom are here for what most conservatives view as political if not improper reason. Time for me to get more personal and less legal…

Biden alone granted hundreds of thousands of illegals from collapsing countries permissionto just flood into our nation under an ever-expanded “Temporary Protected Status (TPS)” program. In addition, we had tens of thousands pouring across our porous southern border day in and night out that weren’t even part of this “migrant/refugee” official fold. They just walked in, 24/7/365. You can watch videos of these streams and could back when they were happening. It’s infuriating! The administration at the time would send bulldozers down to cut barbed wire the southern states were erecting to stop this flood. Why?!? We all know why. The goal WAS the flood. It’s part of the Global Equity agenda. Wait until the Darien Gap is fully opened up (using CCP cash). I did an Unscripted recording around this.

Many of those millions (just the ones being tagged) were being given hearing cards for immigration court with dates 6 or 7 years out. I’m dead serious. “Here, illegal and your family, come back on March 30th of 2031 for your own deportation”. WTF no one is planning to return for that. They’re heading to where the DNC has promised benefits and “sanctuary”. To where illegal noncitizens have suddenly become more valuable to Liberals than our own citizens. It’s staggering. The meltdown of Equity agenda insanity. But let’s get back to birthright…

As I talk about in detail above, what do the millions of babies these illegals have mean under current birthright application? They are all citizens. Period. So now we have tens of millions of illegals, most from some of the worst conditions and traditions on Eartth, who have tens of millions of American citizen children. Obviously, even if they showed up for their own deportation hearing in half a decade (few will), a judge is not going to deport mom and dad and leave junior here. What if there are five juniors? Every one would be getting more benefits in Sanctuaryville, right? I’d bet showing up for what should be clear deportation but with five American kids in tow is not uncommon. And I guarantee not one Liberal judge in America would remove this family from our country. I’m not sure you even can legally. Unless we change where we are legally.

I don’t want to get much longer-winded than I’ve been, but another glaring abuse of this is birthing operations in California. They have entire buildings full of women who fly in (almost entirely from China) while deeply pregnant, deliver an American citizen baby on a tight schedule, and then fly back to the Chinese Communist Party homeland. They have no intention of ever being part of or contributing to our nation. They simply want the paperwork and current (and future) rights that come with their child being an American. Why the hell would we ever allow this; much less, cater to it?!? These are the screaming signs on the wall of our own destruction. Suicidal empathy of Liberals hijacked into our own sovereignty-ending nuclear weapons. I’m not sure this war isn’t already lost.

I recognize the process for congressional change (much less constitutional amendment) here might be checkmated. The whole thing is scary, man. This is the Final Boss of our capture. Now just imagine if loosened election procedures helped the illegal parents vote. Imagine when Democrats get to make defending these policies the next Hatecraft special. That’s been the case for decades, don’t get me wrong. But we ain’t seen nothing yet! This will test the limits of how far institutional Liberals can drive an agenda contrary to our nation’s own interests and even the desires of their own voting base. The problem is that very few Americans will ever even understand this issue in detail. It will all run on the same systematic propaganda as always. I can see the next “No Kings” protests in the streets already. Institutional; Liberal; median Democrat. This is where we are. My new series I’m working on “Anatomy of No Kings” will help show why. I have like 80+ tabs open on my phone now of important items I’ve come across that I would have written about there. Most would have been a long spontaneous thread, I’m sure. Most of those likely becoming its own little web of discussion between us all and links to more brain fodder and puzzle pieces. Magnificent! It’s pinch-me stuff that we have this channel and that we’ve now formed such rich connections. But I’ve never been good at finding a first gear, at anything. I go from 0 to 100 and oftentimes the only salve comes cold turkey. Two weeks away from X now has proven I made the right choice, even though I miss you all and our daily chatter dearly. I’m likely going to stretch it out through April. We’re heading to the Carolina mountains next week and I’m stoked to keep breathing.

But I’m also jonesing to write and share some thoughts. There is so much going on right now it is head-spinning! The point wasn’t to unplug from everything. I’ve found a better pocket to operate from now. I already have some things more stabilized and have laid out a series of plans. To keep this itch scratched, I’m going to return here for a bit. Write essays when I feel that rush. Hopefully get back to some audio projects I’ve long had in mind and even begun scheduling. I just met with my partner on Friday to lay out a plan to produce “COVID Files”. I’ve been mentally mapping out those videos since 2022. I’m seeing signs that MSM is about to try and rewrite COVID history; the same history they so grotesquely distorted the first time. I want to slam these videos down ahead of that wave and stifle it. They’ll be more honest than all of MSM’s information on the pandemic and vaccine combined. I mean that. Our corporate media is disgusting. I can’t believe what I’ve seen in the past few days on this front. After years of running away, now the big boys want to come back to play. No chance! We’ll bury them. So I’ll coast in this middle zone until I’ve got IRL strong enough to be Too Online again. Might sound crazy, but I can’t wait! Feels like the real work is going to just begin.

I was actually going to write this essay about COVID and those pieces I saw, especially this one from WaPo last week. Holy smokes! I’ve seen a rash of them breaking out and they all point the same direction. We never had that discourse as a greater people. Ever; none of it. On the most important topic of our lives. If our government can crush every civil liberty we have that easily as long as captured and openly political “experts” and cabinet-types say so, then America as we know it and our Founders built it was ended long ago. We’re in past-tense having to dig out. And that’s how I began feeling around 2023-2024 when I realized the entire side of our country which was so horribly deceived by COVID and vaccine propaganda had no intentions on honestly engaging with what happened and conducting the postmortem needed for our nation to move on as one. I was worried that Jacob Siegel’s article here was part of this. Thankfully, my worries were false there and Jacob proved his chops to me again. This is a good read. I’m going to do the COVID essay separately as I have a lot I want to share there.

In a kind of strange format, I recognize, I’m going to share some notes I jotted down in real-time as I was reading this new piece from Tablet magazine. Before I do that, however, I want to make sure everyone reading this is clear who Jacob is. Who Tablet has been. There are not many within larger/corporate media who survived 2020-2024 with me integrity and intellectual honesty-wise. There are some though; and man, I admire those people deeply! I’ll have their backs now intensely. I’ll help promote their work even if I disagree with it. Jacob is one of that elite group. Yeah, I dropped the dreaded e-word, but I mean that re my own metrics. The guy earned his stripes with me and so now I give him greater audience and deference than others. Of course, that which is granted can be taken away. Nobody deserves such lofty and society-tilting titles. At least not anyone within media/journalism/investigative reporting. We should be getting competency there and not fealty and idolatry. Lol what a joke those posts are; sentiments never reconciled by Cathy. But it’s not funny. Listen to whoever you want. Them’s the rules. I’ll save the rest of those daggers for my piece on COVID. I want to give an overview of what I intend to do with those “COVID Files” videos. 2-10min bangers laying out my receipts on about a dozen topics. I’ll narrate on top of them and show inside some things I bet even most of us plugged-in don’t fully grasp/haven’t fully seen inside. It’s insane that we haven’t had these discussions as a nation yet. Not once honestly. And it’s no surprise that corporate media want to try and reframe the whole thing again and lasso back in control of information (capture). Nope!

So I approach something new from Siegel with this history. It’s not a new “Moral” of journalism as I cast fire at the old guard. It’s more akin to watching a highlight film before you attend a coaching camp. And thankfully, I didn’t find my concern in here. I think this is very worth your time. Some sentiments in here are bangers! It didn’t land on the place I worried it would. But it does point to the future I desire. I think Jacob’s framing here is narrow to the point of being counterproductive. But that’s because we’re all fallible. We all succumb to the same lures eventually. Once we accept that, the future of information consumption becomes exciting rather than scary. We are now guardians of our own domain! And yeah, that means fending off the bullshit from every direction. These are personal gates we will all erect and guard, however. Not new mandates from any direction. It’s like crowdsourcing knowledge. We’ll need to do the same thing with AI. We use what WE trust. And when that turns rotten (and most will), then we will abandon it for greener pastures. Yep, pastures we each again choose. Cheers! I couldn’t ask for anything more.

Below are some thoughts of mine on top of some passages I found interesting while reading the new Tablet essay I heard many touting as a very honest framing of our new information landscape. I think it is that, yeah. It does a good job of showing how a new camp of self-righteous superheroes probably isn’t as great as they think and brand. But it also reveals again the fallacy of ever believing we have a true middle of “centrists” who are above the ideological pull and political fray. Nah, everyone has their own motivations. I don’t need any safeguarders of all knowledge; old or new. Let people be judged on their actions; let us each keep our own tally of receipts.

The framing of “worse” is what had my alarm bells ringing. That’s definitely what WaPo and NYT and WSJ and all The Good Outlets say. Because we were more safe and less danger and hate and disinformation and conspiracy when MSM lied in concert to us, you see. This mythology must be propped back up.

But then, those same figures and outlets abandoned the barest shreds of independence and journalistic diligence—becoming something even worse than what they sought to replace.

The sense of speaking down or being the carriers of who is worth listening to troubles me in these next lines. There is no Council I want to carry such weight. There is no reason for anyone to even think they have this power. “I judge this mouth bad and so no one should listen”. It is the downfall of every speech-restricting move, “good intentions” or not. But I don’t chafe and run away here because Siegel’s credentials carry weight with me, as I explained above.

Many sincere and well-intentioned advocates of the anticensorship cause do not yet realize what has happened. They are like the liberals of the 2010s wooed by a successor ideology that used the language of liberal moral principles to lure them into a wood chipper. Today, slogans associated with free speech are co-opted into the service of moral panics by people who claim that propaganda is the highest calling of truth.

But it helped explain why he had become the most popular media figure in the country. And what was that context, exactly? It was contained in Carlson’s claim that the “experts have been exposed as frauds.” A claim that was, at first glance, pretty accurate. Of course, it said nothing about the people seeking to replace the experts.

And yet there was another way to see Carlson—as the focal point in a renewed debate over civil liberties. Going back to his decades as a bow-tied preppie, before the midlife reinvention where he started butching up his image with flannel shirts, Carlson had professed himself a champion of free speech. Needless to say, this didn’t excuse his generally racialist, conspiratorial worldview.

Interesting religious reference:

American liberals have a kind of collective conscience. Its sources were once found in the religious and political traditions that inspired the antislavery and civil rights movements but have shifted over the past 50 years to a new fount of values: the milieu of campus radicals, NGO workers, and other professional progressives.

A new series I’m working on is titled “Lions, Thetans, and Bi’s… oh my!” and is going to really drill into this. We MUST cast the proper framing nationally of what the activism channels came to be. What they replaced and the void they filled.

“The Same Thing” (The Current Thing, as described in the article) runs logically through white too, and male, and straight, and Christian, etc. It is decolonizing (Equity). We see what we want to see; the hate is in the eye of the receiver.

Could any sentient person who has paid attention to the U.S. over the last two and a half years really deny that it was the coordinated campaign against Israel that exhibited every feature of the mass ideological swarm? There were the hostile takeovers of public spaces allowed to run rampant by authorities who granted special dispensations to illegal protests—as long as they targeted approved political enemies. There was the shouting down and censorship of pro-Israel speakers (or speakers presumed to be pro-Israel because they were Jewish, or who were merely presumed to be Jewish). The blanket condemnations and shunning of any public figure accused of having even the most tenuous connection to Israel. The endless loyalty tests to prove sufficient allegiance to the cause.

Yes, the Hatecraft tools can be wielded by all, Jacob.

In this way, a new journalistic standard was established. Critics of the establishment press stopped justifying their role in terms of journalistic rigor and redefined it as a matter of ideological principle. Leading figures in the independent media enforced a news blockade within their shared fiefdom by systematically refusing to cover stories that might damage the Palestinian cause.

But who do you speak of? I was not consulted. Heh. How many of the leading COVID tree choppers were? I know many of them, and some of them personally now. I know very few who run in the orbit Jacob is painting as reflective of all the right-side pushback who just saved us from something horrible. Truman Show capture was real, and our country was lurching to a dark place. No, Andrew Tate and Nick Fuentes and Dave Smith spouting off don’t represent the same institutional threat.

In only a few years, the supposedly adversarial independent press had adopted the same attitudes as their mainstream counterparts who refused to cover the Hunter Biden laptop affair.

Agreed. Welcome to the Wild Wild West! But what will be his prescription? He is slamming The NYT, WSJ, WaPo, and who from “Independent”? (My concerns were off the charts at this point. I was taking these notes in real-time. Lol)

The result was a collapse of basic news standards. With the role of media critic redefined in exclusively ideological terms, both independent and legacy outlets had an open lane to engage in flagrant journalistic malpractice.

These were the exact same tools used against us in COVID. The same suppression and coercion used against us in Black Lives Matter. The same ideological capture and transformation as Smash The Patriarchy. The same gameplan as gay rights (Equality) into Pride into forced Equity LGBTQ+ insanity. We have a big conversation ahead about why it took 10/7 for the Liberal establishment to even speak of this wickedness at critical-mass. “And then they came for me…”

Values create order in the world. The supreme value of anti-Zionism established a new epistemology, which means a new procedure for determining what is true. It was extremely simple. Anything that appeared to hurt Israel was true, even if it was a deranged libel, while anything that appeared to help Israel had to be presumptively treated as false and expunged from the record of official knowledge. (Anyone who doubts the premise is invited to consult the public archive of Wikipedia edits over the past several years.)

What is it that changed (revealed) on 10/7/23? I agree with the sentiments here; undeniably. Think of that Miami kid podcast Adin Ross having an NFL superstar on and teaches him greedy Jew goal celebration; then goes and does the dance on a national broadcast; then trots out the damage-done lame as shit “Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t even realize it” as Adin’s audience of millions roared in laughter the whole time. Right, guy, nobody knew at all. The Rams even issued a team statement saying the same thing. Hatecraft and its rules are dumb shit; but man, it is crazy how selectively they get applied. It was just open season on Jews post 10/7, but it had been open season on a long list of Equity targets for a long time.

Antisemitism turned into what one friend of mine called “free money.” It was there on the floor for anyone to pick it up and spend. The result was the carnival of medieval anti-Jewish incitement taking place both online and off. A million Talmudic experts sprouted overnight led by authorities like Owens and her enablers. Across the political spectrum, public figures used denouncing Jews and defending antisemites as a way to signal in-group credibility.

Again, these are “Hatecraft” tools. What about a Penn State professor dragging a white kid up in front of a huge lecture hall and humiliating (demoralizing) him with wicked racial spellbook shit as he talks all “Yeah, man. Cool, bro” around with his 1960s Weather Underground-style? Every kid in that classroom looked uncomfortable. Some eventually laughed; at the white guy being shamed Marxism style up on stage. That’s not an anomaly, but par for the Liberal course across our colleges during this moral panic for median Democrats. Does it not remain par today on most of them, especially the Ivies? So yeah, I feel you, Jacob. This is why I ran around telling so many people to fuck off online and calling them out on their various forms of Hatecraft. Shall we dance a bit with “Don’t Say Gay”? Again, institutional. Serving the same people as always. Serving the DNC and “median Democrats”. Something most journalists still cannot say out loud or write in a piece today. LGBTQ+ insanity? We are to believe that was “medical associations” now. Just them; not the political party driving it as the core of its platform and the entire institutional apparatus serving The Same. I have more receipts on the modern use of this Alinsky tactic than anyone.

We can define very precisely the cost attached to people who dared to exercise a degree of critical thought on this subject: They were treated as Jews. Anyone seen as defending Jews in any way was treated as a Jew. Which was to be treated as a monster, an unhuman, a double agent, a sin in need of forgiveness. And that was too much to bear for many who saw themselves as highly upstanding and principled humanitarians.

Not one of these figures is within my orbit. So who is speaking for (and being described as/painted as) “heterodox” here? That is supposed to mean those NOT tribal and rabid on one edge driving agenda while wearing pretextual bullshit, right? This is a set of the opposite being honed-in on above. Why do rabid feminists speak for women? Why do Equity zealots called “anti-racist” who are really all about Queer speak for black people? Why do only the effeminate speak for men? Why would these bozos speak for “heterodox”? I don’t like this packaging and avenue we’re headed down. I worry I’ve known where it was landing since I started reading.

What remains of the original “heterodox” cause that died on Oct. 7 is the metastatic cancer that consumed it and which now wears the exact face and form of Tucker Carlson. Today it is led by luminaries like Owens, whom Carlson repeatedly welcomes on his show, Megyn Kelly, another great Owens defender, sundry leftists like Glenn Greenwald who make common cause with Carlson and Owens, yellow journalists desperate for page views, like the hosts of the show Breaking Points, podcasters of the “Hitler was a misunderstood empath” genre, comedians whose comedy consists of hectoring political monologues, and assorted social media influencers including the former pimp Andrew Tate, and the mestizo anti-Jewish campaigner Nicholas Fuentes.

While I don’t care much about any of those figures (I do think Greenwald is a worthwhile channel of information and insight), it’s clear how that group is being used here as a new “The Monster”. Whenever liberals (lowercase; I don’t mean that deridingly as to Jacob) try and portray themselves as above the ideological fray, they always and I mean always crash down on utilizing the same tactics and bullshit – some legitimately not realizing it. I don’t need anyone to claim these holy titles of “heterodox” or “centrist” or “liberal”. It’s all just more shenanigans to mask true intentions.

Ok. Let’s assume everything Jacob just said about that group is all true. What’s the salve? Don’t engage that sphere, right? I don’t and didn’t before these latest pages of this long story playing out in waves of capture and mass-mania (the Kent guy shit since I left is insane!). “Lunchroom table”. Guess who I’ve used that term on for 5 years now? Exact same behaviors described by Jacob here, they just swung at a different target. I swung back.

Sharing and competing for the same audience, members of the network frequently appear for puff interviews on each other’s shows, circulate the same guests, and launder the same propagandistic talking points. While posturing as tough independent journalists taking on the establishment, they operate like a social club. Driven by the worst incentives of social media and insulated from criticism, this self-credentialing blob turned independent journalism into a synonym for in-group cattiness, schlock conspiracy, propaganda, and audience pandering.

Maybe this was inevitable. Like the transgender activists before them, they seem to imagine themselves as members of a heroic resistance movement. What they fail to see is that being drunk on self-righteous hatred of the Zionist entity has not made them brave martyrs. It has made them aggressively incurious and blind to the reality around them, which has in turn made their audiences less informed and easier to manipulate. Epstein mania is the logical endpoint. It is a story that underscores the spectator’s lack of agency in a world utterly outside their control, while also promising them access to its deepest secrets.

I don’t really know how to end. I believe there is a MASSIVE story under Epstein. I also think it’s being used to cover up a lot. Reminds me of the yin-yang with “Long COVID” and how that was used to prevent us from speaking about vax injuries. I don’t have a prescription of my own. Listen to the people you trust. Get your information and sense of the world FROM there. But abandon them as soon as they are unworthy of that trust. And make sure you have your own metrics for how you test that. Don’t trust anyone inherently when it comes to current event reporting. You should trust their work. Same with “experts”; a term so rotten it has very little use now. Experts are not right because they’re “experts”; they are experts because they’re right.

The primary series will be titled “Lions and Thetans and Bi’s… Oh, My!”. I’m taking several angles of my approach at analyzing this culture war and societal strife (social-engineering) and placing them on the table one at a time. The composite will present the real story - for the first time, I’m willing to bet. There are some topics in our society that were deemed holy and unassailable. But holy is in the eye of the beholder; and nothing is beyond critique. I will skewer your holy cows! By the end of that series, I hope to piss everyone off. Only then can we start having honest discourse as a greater people again. The 2-4 decades of empathy and emotion being forced into every driver seat was disastrous (and heavily calculated and planned). Without fail, and whether dressed as skin-color or safety or Earth-saving, we run into a Final Boss-level version of feminist doctrine. “RadFem” is a good piece of nomenclature, because I’m not of the camp who believes women should be second-class citizens. I support much of the civil-rights initiatives around American women, just as I do the origins of many of our civil-rights projects. But that’s when they were pursuing the notion of “Equality (under the law)” and not its anti-thetical and dogmatic principle of “Equity (moral discrimination)”. In that series, I’ll get much more expansive with what I mean there; how it applies to race-based initiatives, the gay rights initiative, women’s rights, etc etc. It’s the same sequence all over the place because it’s The Same Thing playing out publically in its final stages of actual cultural capture.

In diving into that series, I’m rewinding through a lot that I’ve written. I crashed into the dumbing down of boys so many times that a lightbulb went off. We cannot simply halt this wicked social-engineering underway, we must then work to reverse the impact (damage) done. We will best do this by championing and elevating qualities and projects and figures and lore which pull the other way. Why did every superhero have to become Girl Boss? Why did every silver-screen male have to become either an asshole or an idiot, or else super-effeminized and soft and gay? You know that answer. We all do. But I’m done just talking about these things. Once I help begin this final autopsy, I want to move away from shining light on this narrowminded doctrine built by fringe-types to serve narrowminded idiots. “Useful” ones. I want to get back to working with the fabrics which represent us again. The building blocks which construct the things we care about again. I’ve heard enough from feminists, Equity zealots, and Queer activists to last ten lifetimes.

I’ve long been grabbed by fantasy lore. I began dabbling in this amazing sci-fi realm back when I was just in elementary school. I had an older brother and he had an older friend who loved D&D. I’d play with them sometimes, but I was a bit young to latch beyond the dice and character sheets. What did grab me, however, were the novels. I started with Dragonlance and then stumbled into Forgotten Realms. A piece of my mind and much of its creativity has lived on Faerûn ever since.

The first book I read from this completely made-up but oh-so-rich land was this one: Darkwalker on Moonshae.

I vividly recall nights in my bedroom, reading light on, tearing through these small paper pages. Slowly, however, because I couldn’t understand much of the language. I’m maybe 4th or 5th grade and these are high-level reading. I kept a dictionary next to me and would look up the words I couldn’t figure out by context and needed to in order to keep the tale going. Some heavy material, in hindsight! But I was also listening to NWA and Ice-T around this time, so them’s the days. I read that trilogy and then, in a moment I cannot recall, I somehow brought home this iconic paperback…

The Crystal Shard. A book that would change my life. I recall the beginning of those stories. The build-up and battle against Crenshinibon. I’m living life like every other ten year-old, but then at night I am entering a portal into sheer wonder and amazement… and role-modeling. The author of this series, RA Salvatore, is a master of character creation. This group from the cold tundra north on that (fake) map, embodied so much of the human experience. They represent so much that people strive for in their dreams. Aspirations and goals and standards any healthy society would work to heavily sow. I, of course, had no appreciation of this as a elementary-aged youth. The stories are just damn good! But in retrospect, this was not just good writing, it was important writing. It’s fascinating to drill into the character from the cover art of this piece. Arguably the most famous figure ever to come from Dungeons & Dragons lore, Drizzt Do’Urden.

Before I talk about Drizzt himself and why I care about a character from fiction enough to write an essay about him decades later, there are a couple interesting angles to how this fantasy legend even came to be. As you can see from the original cover, Drizzt has evolved a lot over his years and fandom.

In fact, Salvatore would later say he only intended Drizzt to be a side character. The main man of these novels was to be Wulfgar, the barbarian. And the creation of the lore in the first trilogy reveals this completely. He’s a massive strong and morally bound future hero. Raised among what some might call savages, and then taken away through violence and war to live with not only another people, but another race. The old dwarf there, Bruenor Battlehammer. He was the king of a powerful colony of dwarves who all live underground. If you know anything about D&D (or a few other fantasy worlds), I’m sure you dig dwarves like Bruenor. These dwarves had a human female also growing up in their lair, providing a wealth of material. Drizzt didn’t fit much into that, really. He was a side-kick; the badass dark elf and his ethereal panther who could seemingly overcome any obstacle. The quintessential ranger breed who preferred being alone in the wilds than living in anyone’s cave. But he was a man of contradiction. And these dualities would grab Salvatore’s audience to a level he hadn’t imagined… or so he says.

By the time the third novel had released, the crowd was demanding more Drizzt! How had a dark elf, one of the famed and feared Drow, come to live in the arctic tundra around vikings? Why was he living with dwarves? Why hadn’t the dwarves long ago slaughtered him? There was no such thing as a good Drow in Dungeons & Dragons. They are evil incarnate; but utterly brilliant and talented and powerful at the same time. They are the evil casting of the sacred surface elves who live in the tree canopy under the stars. The dark elves live deep underground in a world called Menzoberranzan. Interestingly (though not relevant to my essay here), it’s a world dominated by a Matriarchy run through a female goddess, Lolth the Spider Queen. A world of structured “houses” like tribes, all dominated by females with men largely as slaves.

More importantly to the note I’m on, Drow were of “evil” alignment. This is basically their moral principles and these were creatures that only came to the surface to raid and loot. Every person of every type on land knew that seeing a dark elf meant something really bad was underway. Most would not have ever seen one. Most who did would not still be alive. But here is Drizzt living as a noble hero deeply embedded with surface folks. That back story is what drew such a big crowd in, even though the character itself was amazing! He did a phenomenal job of developing the badassery around Drizzt. If you fancy the ranger class, then this was your guy. Salvatore is a brilliant writer, both in the story and lore and also the action and battle scenes and all the heavy stoic emotions which stem from and surround it. Drizzt became a legit superhero for many reasons.

Interestingly, Salvatore became a total blob of political mush. Very Stephen Kingesque, he even left Twitter when it became X because it was too mean. The quintessential fake and ghey capture and walling-off that consumed so much of our culture since its high-point in the 90s. He thinks it’s all about politics and being on the right side of history. It’s not, of course. It’s barren ideology and being part of the social-engineering campaign which, in painful irony, I’m actually using Drizzt to strike against. Salvatore himself created one of the greatest counterforces to feminist Queer blob borg garbage we’ve had in my life. A society of Drizzt Do’Urden, Bruenor Battlehammer, Cattie-Brie, and Wulfgar, quite literally IS “the Patriarchy”. But that’s because very few of the feminist/LGBTQ fantasies have any place outside of academic arenas and in the one called reality. Even here in the fantasy world of Faerûn, the moorings of reality operate like a force-field against all that academic fringe-geek nonsense. It’s all spells, childish spells, and they melt away when danger calls, or it gets cold, or a thousand orcs come to invade your home town. While he went down Liberal Lane and had to explore the narrative of minority in a majority world, RA would never veer down Queer Avenue in his writings. Catti-Brie was a bad bitch! But she was very female. There was no academic-infused confusion on whether Catti-Brie was ackshully a Progress Woman with a Female Progress Penis like they did to Joan of Arc.

She also, as badass as she was, recognized her own limitations (yes, even those dictated to her by biology and birth), and therefore recognized that she was best off under the protection of lions (men) like Drizzt and Wulfgar.

Of course. Because while this was all nothing but fantasy itself, it is a genre that works hard to build realism inside its realms and lore. It’s also a Beforetimes where the harshness of reality and its actual danger lurked around every turn, not one so soft and spoiled and comforted that its people could believe third-person descriptors cause “harm” and that language can be “violence”. These dynamics are unable to exist in an interplay between humans and orcs. Between surface elves and Drow. Between bad and good; good and evil. When we can’t fantasy or scholarship away our limitations or the ACTUAL dangers that can end your life for real.

This top-down social-engineering away from reality’s moorings (“Queering”; 2+2=5) got so out of control that we literally had a discussion break out whether women are safer around bears or men in the wild. WTAF and sure, this is somewhat reflective of how the interwebz makes discourse so elastic it leads to stupidity, but there was unquestionably an engine of derangement driving below it. And I’d argue it’s a WAY bigger engine (crisis) than any of us are talking about publically. Think back to the mobs of brainwashed and maniacal “highly educated” girls at “MeToo” protests which started as some sort of sexual assault compaign but quickly evolved into never-ending forms of delirium and mass-mania all over the place. Hordes of women all from one narrow sliver of society gathering to chant and scream and wail and rock back and forth to organized drum chants with slogans and pink pussy hats. OMG what a horrific chapter in our nation’s history. But I’ll get into that heavy stuff over in my new series. Let’s get back to Drizzt and bears

I’m taking the family to a cabin deep in the Carolina woods next week as part of a recalibration process I’m going through. That, and the fact my kids don’t know such a terrain at all and are yearning to spend more time outdoors working with their hands and touching new grass. Ironically, the biggest concern of this Florida Man heading up there is bears. While we have several creatures down here that will kill you including a modern-day dinosaur often found in my backyard, only the most moronic of idiots get devoured by alligators. You have to do something dumb for this fate to bestow you. Not the case with bear. In fact, all you need to do is walk deep into the woods on trails with your family, right around Spring as the species is waking up from months of slumber utterly starving. These being my plans for the trip. My kids asked me if bears will scratch on the cabin and shatter through windows at night to tear us outside as a meal. LOL! I talked them off this hysterical ledge, but there is some all-too-real truth under the bear fear. So much so, that I’ll be packing both bear spray and .38 Special in case things go sideways. The latter is as much for scumbags as hungry bears, but you get the point. For my crew, I am Drizzt with the scimitars.

Back to the stoopid debate with the now-braindead feminists and a generation of idiots performing for them, it’s crazy how detached from reality that discourse was. It was actually a complete inversion of the moorings of reality; flipped upside-down and manipulated to help fulfill the fantasies of feminists, academics, Queer-types, our culture writers, Smash The Patriarchy disciples, etc etc, which is all The Same Thing. Not only is a woman not safe in the presence of a bear in the wild (objectively), they would be most safe in the presence of a man should they ever face a bear in the wild (objectively). I understand this; all sane minds do. This academic “I’m not happy in the world, so I will change it all with Equity spells”-camp isn’t living within anything approaching sanity at this point. It’s just pulled further and further away from everything 2+2=4 as the mass-mania required for it to drive on has faded. And this goes back to claiming “gender” is something different from male/female sex. I never agreed to play that Judith Butler game myself. My kids definitely don’t either.

And this is why its important to prop-up and get in front of youth cultural icons and fictional figures who embody, well, any form of values other than that one fringe/Queer set force-fed down society’s throat for decades straight. I can’t get over the irony that the creator of this incredible saga and its strong traditional characters, including several who so powerfully embody masculinity, became fully bogged down by the same “We are better than you” feminized mind-rot that destroyed basically everything Liberal across the west. If it is in any way attached to Liberal politics and Liberal entertainment and cultural values, then it is all The Same flavor now: soft, effeminate, Queer, anti-male, anti-traditional values, expressly anti-Christian, fully Smashed. When the fantasy of this all finally fizzles out because a critical mass around you won’t comply with the LARP and its ruleset, then everything contrary becomes mean and “hate” and those drunk on this nouveau gospel run away and isolate themselves… from reality. One of the things I’m going to do in that other series (though not directly; it will just crash there) is help define “masculinity”. There has been SO much discussion around this word (allowing zealots to paint it “toxic”); yet, we have nothing even close to a shared definition. That conversation and clarity must happen if we want to crack out of this cultural malaise. It is the final salve in ending the unbridled feminist madness and the dumbing down of boys to appease fringe types and placate new ideological gods invented by and for the small sliver of society who turned our Ivies into new temples. This is a fascinating return I got back from Grok when I pasted a piece of this essay in asking a question about Icewind Dale lore unrelated to masculinity…

In short: Drizzt is masculine because he combines physical prowess, moral courage, protective instinct, and self-mastery — while rejecting both Drow-style cruelty and modern flattening of sex differences. He’s a romantic hero in the old sense (think Aragorn influence): misunderstood, holding to ideals when it’s inconvenient, and quietly heroic.

Catti-brie works as a strong female counterpart precisely because she’s feminine in important ways (recognizing biological limits, valuing protection from capable men, contributing archery/skill without needing to be “one of the boys” in every respect).”

Holy shmoly! There is a lot of culture war in there, huh? You bet. This creature of fantasy novels is almost a polar-opposite embodiment of the mantras of feminist speak and the modern political Liberal code. Drizzt is patriarchal as a MFer! But he’s such an incredible man that he is rendered almost beyond critique. There are many such men even IRL. Mountains of men who carry life on their shoulders! Definitely any form of civilized life all of us are accustomed to. Most would never agree to comply with modern Liberal code. That’s a framework that alienates, villainizes, and smothers such men. Lions. And who protects the pack? When the true threats come (not those invented by Weak Men in Good Times because of the absence of real ones), who do you want out in front? Dudes that are not struggling with notions of “gender” and whether they might actually be female, I can promise you that.

It’s interesting how the AI return talked about his sensitivity. Perhaps the best passages of that series are the diary entries which Drizzt writes at the start of every few chapters. There is brilliance in that thar’ writin’! Salvatore was laying down canon for young boys and men. Canon which walked in a green cloak with a panther by his side.

RA Salvatore would darn near be forced to go expand on the lore of this man. His fanbase demanded it! Drizzt captivated the D&D audience like few before had or ever would again. He next wrote a trilogy that went back in time and explained where this unique surface Drow had come from; how and why he had escaped, and a magnificent insight into one of the most unique fantasy worlds ever imagined. I had played within Menzoberranzan when I was into D&D and RPGs back in the day. I used to read DM guidebooks about Drow and the underworld. To live inside these stories and experience it in such detail was really neat. Salvatore is a magician!

I had perhaps the most emotional day of my life over this past week. I’m going to write a new piece in my series “Momma’s Boy” and talk about it in greater depth as it’s been some truly transformative thinking/landing place for me. The magnitude can be summed up in a couple lines I’ve jotted down…

“Most men never get to read the map and then live the map in the same lifetime. You did.”

“You’re not just missing a person; you’re mourning the daily texture of life that included her as she used to be.”

“Hard times create strong men. The pampered 90s kid had to die so the man could be born.”

“Steel doesn’t become a blade without the heat and the hammer.”

“The kid who still needed that net at 46? Let it burn too. It wasn’t weakness — it was love’s last gift to the kid inside you.”

“You shook that man’s hand that day at the resort. Now you’re becoming him.”

“The net is gone. The lion remains.”

Sounds corny AF listed like that, but it was a list of lines from some feedback I got which I hadn’t really asked for. I used Grok to create a piece of art for a generational bridge-tying project I was working on. Because I mentioned why I was doing it, the engine started saying some things that struck me. I mentioned back why that was and then after this sequence had all played out IRL, I went back to that session and shared the outcome. The emotional rollercoaster that took me through (opening my own floodgates up fully is what it was, really) overwhelmed me and knocked me offline for a morning. I went and walked through some woods just to shuffle some thoughts because the mental hardrive felt blue-screened. Nothing but the sound of wind pouring through tall trees, the sticks creeking, crows.

Hell yeah it did! I felt like a different person walking out of those woods. I saw things differently. Everything, really. Perhaps most importantly, my overwhelmed kind of “woe is me”-energy had transformed into “What time is it?!? GAMETIME, HOOH!!”-energy as I got back in my car and drove to my firm. With so many heavy thoughts swirling I reminded myself how wise it had been to stop pushing these energies all out so wide. How important it is right now for me to turn that focal point local. Because what this whole epiphany really meant was building my IRL foundation. It just wasn’t strong enough yet to hold what I need it to. What I’m chasing through these mediums does not supercede my real-world; and in fact, if the IRL foundation is not intact, no matter what I built on top would inevitably collapse. Right now, I need to hold tensions on both sides. For me; for my mother and father; to show my own family what it looks like. Only then do I come out the other side as the man I’m meant to be. Only then will the content I put out really have value. Deep shit! Yeah, really heavy when the grease of this all is the loss of my mother in an operational capacity. The timing of this all hitting me is surreal. It definitely feels “stars aligning” though, in its own way. Painful and challenging as some things may be, they are the fire and I welcome the forging. It’s long overdue.

I am jonesing to write! I have so much on my chest. So I’m going to start writing on Substack again here and there while I continue this rebuilding time away from X. The difference is that I don’t get sucked into engagement. I miss that (I mis you!) and can’t wait to return; but just like I knew I couldn’t control my drinking, I know I can’t control that X channel. I need to point those energies more inward for a bit, and this medium is a good middleground. I might even use Stack to talk about some current events again. I have 79 tabs open on my phone I would have written about in my fomer life. Lol I had mentioned I felt we were finally reaching a crescendo in the couple weeks before I unplugged. Yeah, we’re there. I don’t have a clue what happens in the end. But there is definitely a sense of Final Boss starting to play out within the culture war. Once I get back from the cabin the Carolina mountains I just booked, I’ll likely return to our discussion over on X. I miss it too much and enjoy it too much. I’m also still uncovering and learning so much. While not off the grid by any means, I’m happy to have the distance right now on several levels. I’m dragging you back to the same window I’ve told several tales from; the 90s in the DC area. It was a unique place to be at a unique moment in American history. Lion energy as a MFer there! Also a lot of gang violence and odd drama that you wouldn’t think would plague such a pristine place on the surface. I went to a school that was the little leftover districts after you create a bunch of circle districts. Thousands of kids; those of every size, shape, color, and flavor. One time this beef broke out between a freshman girl who was a little hood chick and a senior who was deeply-embedded with the jock culture. We all remember those days, so I’m sure you recall how seniors felt very much in a different and superior world than those tiny freshmen. This is one of various channels of bullying that has and will always present in our school setting.

Well, these girls took it next level and decided to battle it out after school one day. We had a lot of these, unfortunately. And I attended most, unfortunately(?). Freshman here did present significantly less imposing physically - if you didn’t have any street smarts. The older girl was thick and athletic, cheery and kind-looking. Her opponent was skinny and thug, hot-headed little girl. Sensing the weight-class problem, senior with a lot of reputation on the line and a large crowd now gathered, charged right at the newcomer. And man, that girl just waited til the right moment and POP! Landed a clean and stiff right on the kisser. Girl staggers back, gets enraged, and charges again. POP! Same punch; same result. Now the older girl is bleeding and definitely suffering from “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth”. But she didn’t know a reality outside of this artificial one where she was older and superior and that girl was young and dumb and so she could just dominate. Not that day.

I’m not exaggerting when I say this pattern repeated 6, 7, 8 or 9 times in a row before people stepped in and white toweled the affair. By this point, the face of stocky older chick looked like tomato soup. Hood girl had barely broken a sweat, was fired up, talking shit, and looked like she could have Sugar Ray’d that other girl’s face well into nightfall. There was a powerful lesson taught to everyone watching that day. Myself included; but for me it was a reinforcer. See, the freshman girl dated a Latin King. Like, the real kind. The violent AF gang that plagues the DC area. We had a handful of hard AF Latino kids who we all knew ran with them. We’d see ‘em around sometimes and that TLC-looking girl was from that world. Clearly, Ms. Straight A’s was not aware of any of this. She should have been. The freshman girl presented a certain way, for sure. I could tell she had been around roughnecks. I could tell she had probably been in a few scraps. What skill-set did the other girl bring to this arena other than emotion and titles and ego? Field hockey? It wasn’t very effective that afternoon.

I share this tale not to glorify violence. Although unlike mushy Liberals and “anti-bullying”-types, I do see violence as part and parcel to the human experience. That’s why those who are weak should appreciate those who are not. That’s why all Americans should appreciate our military and our country, as well as our law enforcement. They keep away many bad snakes who can be venemous and deadly. I share it because as I was frying bacon just now, I realized it is analogous to where we are in this culture war…

The institutional Liberals are the older girl. On paper, and on every metric they’ve spent their entire lives around, they should be able to go and clear this hurdle easily (stomp on this threat). The Moral vs. The Monsters plays right into this. So does academic gatekeeping (DEI), which led to intense siloing and detachment from reality. Because in this 2+2=5 world the girl inside the school had created for herself, she had nothing to worry about. But she just stepped out of those bricks to go fist-fight a Latin King. That’s when 2 and 2 became 4 real quick! Over and over against her face in painful fashion.

And yet, what will be the messaging from the institutional left tomorrow? Which flavor of Hatecraft comes back in a blind charge this time? It was literally “Nazis” from The Atlantic this week. It was “War Against Empathy” from The Atlantic and Hillary Clinton the week before. This replaced “War Aaginst Women’s Rights” which fell flat in Munich because they call men in womanface out as the topic’s speakers. “My Body! My Choice!” never made any logical sense and serves only as catnip for feminist journalists who are proud to say they write about abortion every day. Obama trotted out mysogynoir in 2024. Walz used Anne Frank Nazi Hatecraft in Minneapolis just weeks ago. Mayor Pete, what would he have to say? White supremacy still at our construction sites? Now we’re told by The Truman Show that the Liberals’ ability to communincate politically is facing extinction. WTAF it can’t make sense to anyone. This from people like Kimmel and Colbert and Jon Stewart. Don Lemon and CNN.

Are there any friends that will step in and stop this? Step in and save the DNC from just getting endlessly bloodied by the same Hatecraft attempts over and over? If not, then ok. I’ll keep throwing haymakers. ;-)
