Whenever I enter my birthday month, I become more contemplative. I tend to relook at my wardrobe and do a clear out of things that don’t “feel” me anymore. The minimalistic approach in my dressing of recent years has become even stronger this year. It got me thinking – what do I want to wear on a daily basis for the rest of the year? Which brand would most reflect this pared down, elevated essentials look?

Uk based brand 440me just hits the spot. A detail here, a twisted silhouette there and the rest of the outfit speaks for itself – day or night, that’s the look I want for myself. With natural fibres throughout their collection in intentional designs, the brand does just that. The white wide leg linen pleated pants are going to be my work trousers as often as possible this summer – the shorts version on the weekend! Packing for a vacation destination where the itinerary is fluid and the dress down/dress up venues are unpredictable, is perhaps the worst part for any fashion girlie. As much as I hate over-packing, I also hate going unprepared. This prompted a search for versatile pieces that can easily transition from day to night or beach club to fine dining with a touch of lip gloss.

These two sustainable brands have saved the day (or vacation) quite literally.

Brooklyn based label Colleen Allen has carved a niche with her innovative dying techniques on natural fabrics using mushrooms, bark, buds and florals relying on traditional natural processes. Her custom- made design model enhances the sustainability of her lines limiting excess inventory.

The bias ruffle chiffon top is perfectly light and airy with a delicacy that fits just as well with a pair of denims during the day or a silk skirt at night. The backless jersey dress is the perfect piece that can be rolled up and packed in your suitcase, to be pulled out in case you need that statement outfit for a night out. The low u dress in a vibrant celery is the day version of the statement dress for a brunch, beach club or boat party.

New York label Hellessy has an amazing range of knits that are versatile all year round, including the perfect elevated pieces for travel. Each piece is ethically produced locally in New York City using only natural silk and cashmere in the collections. Collaborations with charitable organisations such as God’s Love We Deliver are just one of the initiatives by the brand to give back.

The Zeke vest is a statement piece that can be worn as a second layer on a chilly day or on its own with a few buttons undone for a night out. French brand Figaret uses sustainable, organic or recycled materials to create timeless pieces that can be worn year long. Their made to measure service has been successful in reducing returns and increasing buyer longevity. Unused fabrics are repurposed into small pieces such as the popular boxer shorts range. The second life workshop offers repair services to reduce replacements.

The Lanaee linen shirt with the officer collar has the potential to be a year round staple at work – open up the collar for a more relaxed but dressed up look for your poolside brunch outfit. The striped linen Ambre shirt is your all day sightseeing piece that also works as the perfect cover-up for a beachside picnic. Looking for a dress to take you from sightseeing to dinner date? These sustainable labels are not only style forward, but their emphasis on quality and comfort while staying true to their sustainability ethos are a testament to the hopefully long lasting change in the denim industry.

American label Paige is committed to continuous innovations in manufacturing and sourcing while making premium quality denims. The use of artificial stones in their denim washes for a longer lasting product that requires less washes, woven labels made from recycled polyester, pocket flasher and hangtags from recycled materials are just some of the sustainability efforts at the sourcing level. Textile leftovers are repurposed and recycled. Old pairs can be returned at any store to be recycled into insulation. The Blue Jeans Go Green project has diverted 3.9 million pieces of denim from landfills.

As a petite girl, a label that customises a pair for us petite girlies has my whole heart – and the Sasha wide leg petite has been proportionally rescaled with a shorter inseam and higher placements for the perfect fit. The Leannah wide leg for the taller beauties is a high rise with a bow leg taper cut, my favourite is the dark vintage paired with a classic white shirt and boots for a timeless look. I am loving the barrel leg silhouette at the moment and the Arellia in a dark cobblestone shade with a cropped ankle length inseam is a dream pair – and of course this inclusive label made a petite version, the Arellia petite in black void is on its way to me!

Melbourne label Nobody Denim is committed to making the best Australian jean ethically that can be worn often with reduced washes for a longer lifecycle. Usage of natural enzymes in the materials, resource conscious washes, reduced water and energy usage during manufacturing and minimal wastes is practiced at their factory in Cambodia.

The Nadia jean in a pure dark blue is a wide leg with a relaxed curve that ends at the angle with a cuffed hem making it the perfect dress-up/dress-down pair regardless of the occasion day and night. The Walker jean is the brand’s barrel leg silhouette, and the vanilla is the perfect shade of cream to elevate your day look. The Grace jean in shadow is the classic wide leg that is a class above in this darker shade – pair it with a pinstripe shirt and a blazer for a contrast effect that works effortlessly.

January flew by in a flurry and in the blink of any eye we are already smack into February - surely I cannot be the only one still adjusting to writing 2026 in my notes! I have never been one for New Year resolutions; however I am committed to more self-love and self-care this year. How appropriate then in this month (that is nicknamed the “month of love”) to give our feet some of that extra attention – these delicious pairs will bring an extra spring to your step this season (pun absolutely intended!)

All the leather is sourced from the European food industry, upcycled metals are used as well as recycled lasts that are reformed from previous production cycles to ensure sustainability at each step of the process.

With so many how-to’s and shopping guides for the New Year, the skincare heroes to keep those frown lines at bay (quite literally!) should be on the top of the list. The keep-doing-what-works adage feels appropriate – so I have put together a list of what worked for me last year, and these are definitely on my rebuy list as soon as they run out.

While my skincare routine has added a few steps, my makeup kit has pared down considerably. A clean, glowy base with a touch of mascara and a lip tint seems to be my go-to this winter. These are the products that made this look a winner!

That little extra underpainting help comes from the aptly named Dior backstage flash perfector concealer to get those blemishes and under-eye circles under control. The Valentino foundation and YSL foundation are both long lasting, lightweight formulas with just the right amount of coverage to give a natural, yet polished base – and they literally stay put for hours whatever the weather may be outside! The YSL extreme volume mascara is my hero product for longer, volume lashes to bat those lashes and win any negotiation day or night! The Catrice mascara is the perfect budget buy for a no-makeup daily look that gives your eyes a natural pop. Finish off this no-makeup look with the Valentino brow tint , I use brown for a natural finish. The Rhode peptide lip tint is the perfect glossy balm day or night, my favourite is raspberry for a natural rosy flush that is buildable if you want a deeper colour.

Post makeup cleansing is sorted with the Inkey oat cleansing balm that removes even the toughest of makeup formulas with a gentle scrub. The Laneige sleep mask and the Caudalie Vinohydra masque are my favourites when my skin needs a boost of extra moisture overnight. The Kiehls ultra facial cream is the perfect lightweight day moisturiser along with the Mizon collagen eye cream to protect those undereyes from the strain of excess screen usage (don’t we all need that!). The Elizabeth Arden refining serum ceramide capsules remains my go to serum for skin repair and that extra help required during a hectic day, they are also perfect for travel and the smoothest primer base for makeup.

Working out in winter requires extra motivation and the Locker sweatshirt does just that to push you out the door. The aptly named Bodega run track pants perfectly complete this ensemble and have all the makings for a weekend all-day outfit. The Lofty softie has been dubbed the softest sweater in the world with its machine washable cotton blend and rightly so! Layer up with the reversible fleece car coat, the Chalet. Missing spring dressing and polo tees? Ayr answers that prayer with a cashmere polo in the most delicious iced matcha shade.

American label Patagonia uses recycled fabrics across their collections, as well as promoting the Worn Wear program for repair and resale of products. From last year, all new styles are manufactured without intentionally added PFAs. Plant based odor-control finish on garments to reduce number of washes, wicking additives made from plant seed oil are just some of the continuous material innovations at this company to promote garment longevity at a lower environmental impact.

The cable beanie is the warm, low profile look for everyday wear made from recycled wool, nylon and polyester to withstand all weathers. The R1 air beanie is your answer for the right amount of warmth while outdoors this winter, especially during sporting events. New Year’s Eve ragers have never quite been my scene, even more so now than ever. A cozy dinner and cocktails with a close group at a restaurant or a friend’s house is more my vibe. Regardless of what we are doing, that shouldn’t deprive any of us of the opportunity to dress up and end the year on a high note (pun intended).

The Kynlee top is one such innovative piece made from alt leather and mesh jersey – the sheer bodice gives that extra edge to this coffee toned piece making it perfect for a NYE night. Contrary to popular opinion, I think a winter look is sexier than a summer one. A mini dress with a sexy pair of tights is the perfect peek-a-boo statement under a chic coat that is far more alluring to me.

Burgundy has been the trending shade this year and rightly so; luckily the brand has released a burgundy sheer pair to complete your tonal ensemble. Manufacturing operations are focused on a selection of certified material suppliers resulting in the launch of 68 Gold certified styles and exclusive use of FSC certified cardboard for their packaging.

For those wanting to go bolder and brighter, this brand has the perfect midnight red sheer – pair with a black dress for contrast or go for an all red look to be the sexy siren at the party! The satin touch version in wild plum is a deeper hue for if you are going for more of an understated, sensual look. Go wild (literally!) on NYE with the leopard print tights in all black or pick up the natural sheer tone with black spots for a softer, cool cat look. The merino wool tights in a steel grey are unbelievably warm and the perfect accessory for the leather mini skirt that deserves an outing asap. The deluxe velvet tights in semi sheer velvet finish work just as well during the day, exactly what you need to keep warm at the outdoor Christmas markets.

My winter style has gradually evolved to staying classic in my dresses or separates, and having fun experimenting with accessories to play up an ensemble. Winter is the most fun seasonally in that respect – there isn’t a formula or rule book in the layering game and legwear ie tights and boots are the winter accessories where you can stretch the limits (pun intended!).

With 6 weeks to go till Christmas, there are a lot of gift guides going around which got me thinking about my own shopping list for the loved ones. Too many options overwhelm me and I suspect this happens to many of you too, so I have put together a short edit of options for each special person in your life – the special guy/girl, mom/sister, father/brother and especially something indulgent for the best friends.

With 7 weekends to go till Christmas, the social calendar must be filling up for all of you. With that, the nagging feeling that we don’t have enough outfits to work the rotations is natural. Rather than give in to the midnight panic of shopping for new dresses that may not be what we actually need long term, I find that a few statement separates and dresses can serve as versatile essentials to mix and match for the upcoming festive events and perhaps even become a trusted favourite well into the new year.

These 4 sustainable brands hit just the right notes – classy with the potential to be time-tested classics for seasons to come.

US based Heirlome promotes artisanal crafts through each collection to revive forgotten traditions and techniques. Mexican and Latin American artisans manufacture the garments in their family owned workshops, taking care to honour indigenous weaves and prints, natural dyes and inks and organic fabrics.

In the summer, I had highlighted 2 size inclusive brands that do amazing dresses without compromising on style, comfort and fit. With the temperatures dropping, I was curious to see who was designing quality fit, high on style jackets and coats for the curvy woman this winter.

My research uncovered some unbelievable finds from 3 sustainable brands!

US based Landsend is committed to creating quality clothing with minimal impact to the environment using 100% recycled polyesters, sustainably sourced cotton and down materials. As a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the brand has also partnered with non-profits and local business councils to further the cause by improving business, sourcing and recycling practices as well as social projects. As a size inclusive brand, their products are available upto size 18 in regular and upto 3X in plus size.

The feather free insulated jacket in burgundy is a quilted, water resistant layer that can easily transition through the winter into the rainy spring months. The anyweather fleece jumper with a quarter zip is an easy layer to throw on over your tank as you walk over to the gym or run around doing errands – the mint colourway will be a refreshing pick me up on the gloomy mornings! The boucle fleece coat is the comfiest texture to cuddle up in at home; the high collar also makes it a smart choice to step out in during the weekends. The quilted barn jacket is twice as useful on rainy days and twice as nice with the checked reversible print – the cord collar takes it up a notch, literally. The wool pea coat in a camel tone is an update on the double-breasted classic with a tartan lining. The Levi’s limited edition collaboration has an update on the fleece hoodie combining the Barbour Beacon logo and the Levi’s two horse trademark – perfect for a cosy weekend by the fire or a walk outdoors in the crisp morning. The double breasted wool coat in a grey tartan is the perfect neutral print this winter – the chic longline silhouette adds to its versatility to go from day to night, while the tartan print adds to the festive vibes leading up to the year end.

A social project such as Turn the Tide, a beach clean-up in Brighton was launched together with a limited edition collaboration to support the clean-up of the oceans and waterways. Truly inclusive, this brands has sizes going up to 28-30.

The Robyn cardigan in mustard is a comfy, daily staple for work or a casual evening at the local bar. The Amari oversized jumper in blue ombre will be the perfect thicker replacement for the colder months – and the ideal travel companion on a ski trip. The Blake fleece grunge print jumper is paisley with sass in dark fall colours – an unbeatable combination for an outdoor music event. The Stevie fleece jumper in green floral gives Christmas vibes; pair it with the Norris wide leg cord trousers in fir green and your Christmas morning outfit by the tree is sorted!

The current collection is a treasure trove of layering pieces from the Gia knitted vest in cocoa to the Leo long waistcoat – wear it with denims as is or over a smart oxford shirt and you are all set. Shopping at a multi-brand department store can be the opposite of enjoyable, almost overwhelming for some. The sheer variety and range can be intimidating, especially when stepping into one in a foreign city and there is an additional pressure to make the best use of the vacation day.

While the format is supposed to give the customer an unprecedented opportunity to shop for brands otherwise unavailable back home, flitting from kiosk to kiosk can feel counterproductive. After a few unsatisfactory experiences, I devised a hack that has me set for any shopping trip.

After putting together my list of desirables, I go to the store website and research the brands available in each category. Research-hungry me also does a dive into the brands I don’t recognize – yes, it helps to know the who to justify the upcoming $$ decisions! It definitely takes plenty of pressure off in the moment when you can’t decide between that perfect pair of mules or flats or whether the dream tote bag should come home with you instead!

This sparked the idea for a new series – to highlight some amazing sustainable fashion labels at some of the best department stores at our favourite shopping cities. To kick off, good ol’ London is up and the flagship Selfridges on Oxford Street was an obvious choice.

With over 300 brands in this amazing space, it is hard to go through all the levels even if you earmark an entire day. Razor sharp focus is the key to the best buys!

Focusing on accessories for this article, I put together an edit from 4 sustainable brands in the handbags and footwear category that are a must-see for a unique piece of arm and foot candy.

Belgian brand Dragon Diffusion was founded 4 decades ago with the mission of incorporating hand braiding techniques into the leather craft. Their unique technique is inspired by traditional basket weaving with natural vegetable dying on the leather straps to create a long-lasting handwoven piece that can be used every day.

The Japan mini tote in a delicious forest green has an adjustable strap for a cross body option to use all day. The Eclipse tote in espresso brown is the perfect beach to brunch all day bag in a clean rectangle shape with interwoven panels all over. Size inclusivity was also a key mandate with options of wide shoe widths as well as extra wide calf boots – a much needed, critical issue that needed to be addressed for so many women. Use of bloom algae foam and Repreve from recycled waste for shoelaces are just some of the continuous innovations by them to manufacture responsibly.

The Baylee suede ballet flats in wine have a cute double strap with silver toned grommets that take this pair from coffee to cocktails in a heartbeat. The Aldy knee high leather boots in a dark burgundy have the right stiletto length with the closed pointed silhouette to keep you classy and chic all day this winter minus the pinched toes. The Shadie suede ankle boots are the casual day version for denims and dresses this fall.

Portuguese footwear label Jude is the brand new star on the block crafting sensual minimalist pieces handcrafted from premium leather in Porto in limited edition collections to minimize inventory and production waste. Have you ever shopped for a midi skirt without doing the mental math of where the skirt length will fall on your petite body frame? I came across a NYC based brand that exclusively caters to us petite women - I just had to try out some of their new pieces and boy did I get lucky! The consideration in the design and tailoring that has gone into making each piece fit our petite frames is truly heartwarming. This goes far beyond denim lengths (which perfectly graze the ankle by the way!). The Debbie Suede Pencil Skirt is a luxurious texture in a delicious chocolate brown that hits just a few inches above the ankle; this piece is bound to be the bestseller of the collection this season. I wore this winner last week paired with a sage green satin shirt and espresso brown mules. Twenty years ago, I would have never worn sage green with chocolate brown for fear of a snide comment that I look like a tree. Today, the same combination soothes me.

The side zip closure provides a seamless fit and eliminates any bumps at the back. The front slit provides just the right amount of peek-a-boo to wear this even during the day. I also paired this with the Lexi wool sweater for an important meeting mid-week. The cream and taupe shades in the merino wool piece balanced perfectly with the espresso brown. The drop shoulder and loose fit contrasted beautifully with the fitted pencil silhouette and made me feel confident about this chic look all day! This will be my fall go-to, I have the olive green version on my wishlist for spring!

The paisley mohair sweater in dusty blue is the perfect addition to your winter wardrobe with its relaxed fit and drop shoulder sleeves that cinch perfectly at the wrist. The pearl buttons add a lovely vintage touch to this timeless cable knit. It is already my favorite extra layer to cozy up in with my morning cuppa! I can’t wait to wear this out on a cold morning with the dark blue or white denims – two very different looks that evoke classic and understated elegance!

On to the denims, and I was especially excited about these as I know how much of a pain point it is for us short girlies. I am 5’2” and have never had a seamless online shopping experience – until now!

From the second that I tried on the Libby crop flare jeans, I was in love. It slid on smoothly, hugged my hips at the right places and fell perfectly at the ankle. The premium cotton denim fabric is firm but not heavy and the vintage blue shade makes it the perfect daywear that can transition easily into the evening for a casual dinner.

The Bentley straight cropped jeans in dark indigo is the perfect daywear piece – made of thick cotton, the straight relaxed fit falls in a manner that keeps it casual chic in a tee or even a shirt and blazer. The high-rise sits perfectly at the waist and can be paired easily with a cropped cami on a warm day and a cropped knit as the temperature drops. I love the way it hits just above the ankle – kitten heels add just the right amount of drama for a night out. The embroidered S on the back pocket gives the nostalgic vintage feel we have all been yearning for.

The Bentley straight cropped jeans in white will be my go-to evening wear this winter – lacy drama on top and the straight relaxed white leg are the perfect juxtaposition of opposing textures and moods. The Lexi wool sweater also looks fab with this, finished off with my brown mules and I went directly from lunch meeting to Wednesday night cocktails. Dare I say I was the coolest chica at the club?

I can’t express enough the strange wave of emotion that washed over me while wearing each piece, a feeling of finally being seen and understood by a brand that truly recognizes what we need. I truly wish there were more brands like this, but for now we have Petite Studio NYC to heed our desires.

Fresh off the excitement from the runways at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week, I have been dreaming of all things Parisian. There is a unique approach to their laidback sensibility that is understated chic and impactful at the same time. This led me down the rabbit hole, and I ended up in Wonderland!

After much willpower (and abstaining from buying everything I desired), I wanted to highlight 2 sustainable French brands that embody this in every silhouette and detail they create in each essential piece – elevating your daily wardrobe in a way that is indescribable.

Female led Loulou de Saison founder says it best – “I’d like to think of my designs as soft armors, giving my women an intimate confidence”. Pieces that transition across every season and stage of life are crafted from certified materials and only in limited batches to reduce waste. Organic cotton and cashmeres are used through their collections to amplify this goal.

The metal ornament cashmere sweater has a sculptural silhouette offset by the metal drape in front that makes for an eye-catching piece to add to your daywear rotation this winter. The Sade silk top is quietly dramatic with the volume draping so it easily transitions from office to dinner with minimal effort. The SBIRU wide leg trousers made from virgin wool are the perfect textural contrast to complete this ensemble.
