He credits Turtleboy for doing the real hard investigative work that the mainstream media failed to do in the story, while noting the blogger “plays by different rules than the mainstream media. They have the rules of the newsroom that don’t allow them to say some of the things he can say.”

The tragic tale of Dr. David A. Kessler is a tough pill to swallow.

The Deep State Medicine Man made his first claim to shame as the commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration in 1995 when it approved OxyContin as an “easy, non-addictive fix for pain.”

That decision ignited the deadliest addiction crisis in American history, at least according to the Commission on Combating Synthetic Opioid Trafficking, a heavy-hitter bipartisan committee of Washington D.C. lawmakers and federal agencies, co-chaired by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Rep. David J. Trone (D-MD).

“The rise in illicit fentanyl and other synthetic opioid misuse and related deaths has its origins in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s approval of the prescription opioid painkiller OxyContin in 1995,” the Commission claimed in a damning 127-page report released in February 2022.

The Departments of State, Defense, Treasury and Homeland Security were among the federal institutions that lent their heft to the Commission’s findings.

You think that this little oopsie on Dr. Kessler’s resume — “my bad!” — might have damaged the doctor’s medical credibility or made him a political liability.

Hell no!

In fact, you’ll NEVER guess what Dr. Kessler was doing when the Commission on Combating Synthetic Opioid Trafficking report was released in February 2022.

But before we diagnose the next malignant polyp on the doctor’s career path, let’s examine the cost of the FDA decision, on Kessler’s watch, to approve Oxy. Here’s the tally, according to the federal government itself:

• LIVES — Opioid addiction had already killed 1 million Americans by 2022, more than the number of Americans killed, the report specified, in all U.S. wars combined.

• TREASURE — The opioid crisis costs the American taxpayer as much as $1 trillion (T-t-trillion!) … per year.

• SECURITY — Opioid addiction is “not just a public health emergency but a national emergency that threatens both the national security and economic well-being of the country,” the Commission reported.

Woah!

The FDA’s decision on Kessler’s watch to approve Oxy was a national security threat! Among other national security concerns, the opioid addiction crisis inspired a business alliance between the People’s Republic of China and Mexican drug cartels to exploit the porous U.S. southern border.

Naturally, an official federal report chronicling the staggering cost of the FDA decision to approve OxyContin, coupled with the gravitas of bipartisan legislative and executive authority, was front-page news for weeks.

Hell no!

The report never saw the light of day. The agencies and legislators on the Commission never publicized it. The media never reported the tragic news contained in the report, even though the staggering toll in deaths, dollars and defense impacted every single American on at least some level.

Dr. Kessler never faced a Congressional inquiry. Dr. Kessler never sweated under the white hot spotlight of a media frenzy, asking him to explain a decision his agency made in 1995 that killed more Americans than all U.S. wars combined.

At least the report noted that the FDA’s failure was on Kessler’s watch, creating an official record of the deadly “national emergency” with his name on it for the sake of posterity.

The report never even mentioned Dr. David A. Kessler’s name. Not once. The failure to do so is an inexcusable oversight; if it were an oversight and not an editorial decision.

Dr. Kessler was not some figure from a past generation lost to history. He was known by most everyone in Washington D.C., and was all over national headlines, when the report was released in February 2022.

Dr. Kessler was quite easy to find, in fact. He was working right down the street from Capitol Hill, right down the street from the halls of every federal agency that was a member of the Commission on Combating Synthetic Opioid Trafficking.

Dr. Kessler was the top doctor on the White House Covid-19 Response Team in February 2022. It was a position he held since the day President Biden was sworn in more than a year earlier.

That’s right. The man who ran the FDA when it made the catastrophic decision to approve Oxy, was not disgraced and discredited. He was instead anointed by the Biden Administration as its most zealous COVID “vaccine” evangelist.

“Kessler has served as the Covid response’s top science official since the start of the administration, overseeing the purchase and initial rollout of hundreds of millions of vaccines,” Politico reported, when the doctor stepped down from the role in January 2023, amid glowing testimonials.

“He later guided the booster shot campaigns and played a lead role in accelerating the development and availability of the Covid tests and treatments that became core elements of the White House’s plan to suppress the virus.”

Kessler was more than just the top scientist behind the COVID jab disaster. He was “the architect of the administration’s mass vaccination campaign,” as Politico called him.

The Biden bulldog claimed credit in several interviews for delivering 559 million jabs to the American people despite the known dangers. He lobbied for onerous mandates to punish Americans who didn’t take the jab, and barked at anyone who pointed to what the data clearly indicated early on: the COVID jab’s efficacy was badly oversold and its dangers were evident.

Dr. Kessler appeared to have a conflict of interest between the profits of Big Pharma and the safety of the American people.

Alex Berenson, who has done more than anyone to highlight the tragedy of the COVID jab con, and paid the price for it, has evidence that Kessler was shilling for Pfizer in 2021 — much to the chagrin of people on the doctor’s own staff.

Hey! Berenson is just a disgraced bitter hack jaded by his experience peddling COVID conspiracies.

CAPITOL HILL — Kessler was one of the lead witnesses who spoke before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform in April 2025 on the topic of “Restoring Trust in FDA: Rooting Out Illicit Products.”

It’s true. The man who led the FDA in 1995 when it approved OxyContin was a trusted spokesperson on the topic of “Restoring Trust in the FDA” on Capitol Hill.

MAINSTREAM MEDIA - Kessler’s role with the FDA when it ignited the opioid crisis was never mentioned during the hearings; and it’s never mentioned in the impolite company of docile American media.

“His FDA legacy chiefly rests on a sweeping investigation into tobacco industry practices, which led the agency to label nicotine an addictive drug that companies purposely manipulated to hook smokers,” reads a Politico profile, the same praise repeated in one outlet after another.

BIG PHARMA — Kessler is best buds, of course, with Pfizer & Co.

Need proof? Kessler spent the past 18 months on a breathless media tour promoting his new book, “Diet, Drugs, and Dopamine: The New Science of Achieving a Healthy Weight” (2025).

The book is essentially a sales pitch for controversial GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic.

Kessler brushes aside any of the growing concerns about the safety of GLP-1 drugs to praise them as “highly effective anti-obesity medications … (that) have revolutionized our understanding of weight loss.”

Keep in mind GLP-1 drugs were manufactured and marketed to treat diabetes, not to aid diets. Viral news and consumer demand turned them into weight-loss drugs. And much of the data on their use is troubling.

Kessler’s Ode to Ozempic has been profiled in hundreds of media outlets around the world. The glowing profiles include constant reminders of Kessler’s “fight against Big Tobacco” while director of the FDA.

None of them mention that Kessler was also director of the FDA when its approval of Oxy as a non-addictive treatment for pain ignited, the federal government itself declares, the deadliest addiction crisis in American history.

Only one U.S. community produced three essential Founding Fathers, in the fight from beginning to end.

And it’s not one of the cities that immediately spring to mind.

Not Boston. Not Philadelphia. Certainly not New York City, a loyalist hotbed occupied by the British almost the entirety of the war.

John Adams, Samuel Adams and John Hancock were all born in Quincy, Mass., a bustling coastal community of 100,000 people immediately south of Boston, close enough to be served by the MBTA subway system. Quincy’s northern border is just 4.5 miles from the downtown sites of the Boston Massacre and Boston Tea Party, while Abigail Adams stood on a Quincy hilltop and watched and heard the Battle of Bunker Hill in Charlestown, north of Boston.

Quincy at the time of revolution was the North Precinct of Braintree and had an estimated population of just 1,500 people. But that small town has gone on to play an outsized role in U.S. history, as evidenced by Quincy’s:

• 109 sites on the National Register of Historic Places

• seven National Historic Landmarks, and

• two national parks: the Adams National Historical Park and the Boston Harbor Islands National Recreation Area.

Most notably, Quincy produced the brains (John Adams), the balls (Sam Adams) and the bank (John Hancock) needed to battle the British Empire — alone at first. Their heroic bravado ignited the Spirit of Independence across the 13 American colonies.

The primary instigators of the American Revolution all rose from one small community. But Quincy’s central role in the Biblical drama of the American Revolution is largely overlooked, even within the community itself.

It’s an important oversight here. TA was raised in Quincy, spending his formative years walking in the actual footsteps of John Adams, Sam Adams and John Hancock.

Here’s the story — perhaps slightly biased — of three kids from one small town with the audacity to battle the British Empire alone toppled tyranny around the world.

THE FOUNDERS’ BIRTHPLACES

The John Adams Birthplace is now part of the Adams National Historical Park in Quincy. John Hancock was born about 1 mile north, at what’s now home the Quincy Historical Society.

Federal sources almost universally claim that Sam Adams was born in Boston.

The National Park Service offers more specificity. Adams was born “on Purchase Street in the South End of colonial Boston,” the NPS reports.

It’s a highly suspect claim with four major problems:

PROBLEM 1 - Sam Adams was born in 1722. But Purchase Street does not appear on Boston maps from 1722. It was either known as Belcher Lane at the time, or was built a bit further east over 19th-century landfill. Purchase Street first appears, by our research, on maps of Boston in 1864.

PROBLEM 2 - Purchase Street is in the heart of downtown Boston today, not the South End. We know there was no Purchase Street in the “South End of colonial Boston” because there was no South End of colonial Boston. The entire neighborhood is built upon 19th-century landfill.

PROBLEM 3 - The roots of the Adams family were firmly planted in Quincy (originally Braintree), not Boston. Sam’s cousin John was, of course, born in Quincy. So, too, was his father, Samuel Adams Sr., according to multiple sources.

PROBLEM 4 - The most credible biography of Sam Adams makes an authoritative claim he was born in Quincy. So, too, do current online sources from the Adams family.

“This gentleman was born at Quincy, in Massachusetts, September 22, 1722, in the neighborhood afterwards rendered memorable as the birthplace of Hancock, and as the residence of the distinguished family which has given two presidents to the United States,” Rev. Charles A. Goodrich wrote in “Lives of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence.”

The book, published in 1829 and re-printed at least through 1841, carries significant weight. The author was a respected historian, geographer and Whig Party member of the state legislature. His district, Roxbury, is now part of the City of Boston, a few miles from Quincy.

So Goodrich knew local geography, knew local politics and knew Boston from Quincy. He also knew the Adams family, including personal correspondence with Quincy native, fellow Whig and U.S. President John Quincy Adams.

Sam Adams’ exact birthplace appears unknown. But the best available evidence strongly indicates he was born in Quincy.

THREE FOUNDING INSTIGATORS

Adams, Adams and Hancock were not just Founding Fathers. They were the essential Founding Fathers, fighting for independence from England long before it was cool.

Many of the delegates at the Second Continental Congress (1775-76), perhaps most, were still torn over the idea of rejecting the English Crown.

The rebellion for Hancock and the Adams cousins began with the Stamp Act protests of 1765, 11 years before the colonies declared independence. It escalated with the murder of Christoper Sieder, followed days later by the Boston Massacre in 1770; reached a boiling point with the Boston Tea Party of December 1773; and finally exploded into open conflict with the Battles of Lexington & Concord just 16 months later, April 19, 1775.

It was only at this point, after the outbreak of open hostilities instigated by three kids from Quincy, that the other Founding Fathers entered the picture as significant figures who seriously considered the option of open conflict with the king.

THE MASSACHUSETTS REVOLUTION

War erupted when British authorities ordered a detachment of 750 soldiers to march on Lexington and apprehend Hancock and Sam Adams.

The Quincy kids had some protection: a volunteer militia of 75 Lexington minutemen stood in the way of the king’s 750 stormtroopers and defied orders to drop their arms.

It’s a fact worth repeating: the American Revolution began when 75 armed American civilians, with balls so big they could be seen from space, stared down a force of 750 trained killers sent by the British Empire.

Another fact worth repeating: the American Revolution began the king of the British Empire sent 750 trained killers to arrest two kids from Quincy.

The king was in over his head.

The rebellion was, at this point, the Massachusetts Revolution. Minutemen from other New England colonies quickly joined the siege of Boston that followed the Battles of Lexington & Concord. Soon, too, a Virginian named George Washington would arrive to organize the militia.

But the major protests, the violence and now the war itself had been limited to one colony and were largely instigated by three kids from Quincy.

FUGITIVES RACE TO PHILLY

Kids from Quincy might have the balls to pick a fight with the king. But they have the brains to know when they need a little more muscle.

Hancock and Sam Adams immediately departed Lexington in the aftermath of the battle to make their way to Philadelphia for the start of the Second Continental Congress.

John Adams left Quincy within hours a couple days of the battle. The trio of Quincy kids met in Hartford, Conn. for the rest of the journey.

All Three Kids from Quincy made this journey as fugitives, soon to be wanted for treason once the King of England got the news.

Their crime of sedition had now grown deadly: 300 British troops were killed, wounded or missing following the Battles of Lexington & Concord.

THREE SIGNATURES OF DEFIANCE

One Quincy kid, Hancock, served as president of the Second Continental Congress

Another Quincy kid, John Adams, was the most vocal and impassioned advocate for independence in congress.

All Three Kids from Quincy were of course radical advocates of independence from Great Britain. They had already gnited deadly rebellion against the king of England. They were doomed if forced to continue the fight alone, even with Gen. Washington leading the New England militia.

Adams, Adams and Hancock had just one option: drag the rest of the colonies kicking and screaming into the conflict. And so they did.

In July 1776, more than a year after the Massachusetts Revolution began, 53 other men from across the colonies joined Three Kids from Quincy and declared independence from Great Britain.

Thomas Jefferson is largely considered the author of the Declaration of Independence. But John Adams was the senior statesman on the commitee of five selected to draft the document and suggested Jefferson for the lead writing gig.

Adams was also largely the intellectual puppet-master of political philosophy behind the Declaration of Independence and political structure of a new republic, later codified in the U.S. Constitution.

“A government of laws, and not of men,” as Adams famously stated.

QUINCY vs. THE KING

Philadelphia lays claim as the birthplace of three Declaration signers. But Benjamin Rush was born north of the city in Byberry.

Boston is listed as the birthplace of four signers. But only Robert Treat Paine was actually born in Boston and still in Boston as rebellion erupted into warfare.

Quincy is the only community in the United States with the names of three local sons inked onto the most famous document of defiance in world history. One of those names is no ordinary signature. The oversized, defiant script of congressional President John Hancock made his name a synonym for “signature” in American English.

Keep in mind these were not the old men portrayed in the modern leftist narrative of the national origin story.

Sam Adams was 53 on July 4, 1776. John Adams was 40. Hanock just 39.

These Three Kids from Quincy pledged their “lives, fortunes and sacred” honor to the independence of the other colonies even though their orignal fight, the Massachusetts Revolution, was already over. The British evacuated Boston on March 17, 1776 — four months before the colonies declared independence.

The Brits never returned to Boston. March 17 is still celebrated as Evacuation Day, a municipal holiday in Boston. No foreign army has ever occupied, or even attacked, Massachusetts since that day.

John Adams wrote the Massachusetts Constitution two years later, in 1778, largely alone at his law office in what we know today as the John Quincy Adams Birthplace. It’s on Franklin Street. In Quincy. The system of government he outlined was adopted in 1779, two years before the British surrendered at Yorktown, 10 years before the U.S. Constitution.

Massachusetts, in other words, was a free and independent constitutional republic in 1779, even before the American Revolution was over. The Massachusetts Constitution served as a building block for the U.S. Constitution.

The famous phrase “right to keep in bear arms” that appears in the U.S. Constitution (Second Amendment) was codified a decade earlier in the Massachusetts Constitution (Article 17), after it was first written down in Quincy.

Adams, Adams and Hancock learned the importance of the God-given right to keep and bear arms when 75 armed American civilians stood in the way of the 750 king’s killers sent to arrest a couple kids from Quincy.

The fight that day soon toppled the Old World Order of rule by kings with suspect hereditary claims of power and replaced it with the New World Order of rule by consent of the governed.

Three Kids from Quincy stood toe to toe with the British Empire. Three Kids from Quincy won.

Looks like the King of England didn’t get the message the first time at Yorktown. Or the second time at Fort McHenry.

“We’ll put a boot in your ass. It’s the American way,” as red, white & blue Oklahoma poet, the late Toby Keith, put it in more recent decades.

King Charles’ official message to the United States on July 4, 2026, contained a disgraced version of Old Glory.

His Royal Majesty’s official diplomatic statement to the American people displayed a star-spangled banner with 14 stripes.

The American flag, as every patriot learns at an early age, contains 13 stripes: one stripe for each of the 13 original colonies that told King George III where to shove his cosplay crown back in ‘76.

It’s not the American flag. It’s the Stars & Swipe.

“This is the highest level diplomatic slap,” said an American intelligence expert who brought the disgrace to our attention today.

The heir to a Dark Ages claim of birthright authority desecrated the global symbol of triumph over tyranny — and did so the very day jubilant Americans celebrate 250 years since we last took seriously a ridiculous “king” in his castle.

American patriots also know our global symbol of defiance to the king’s crown has seven red stripes, including one on the top and on the bottom of the banner, with six white stripes layered in between.

The design creates a red frame and a symmetrical pattern, easily recognizable even to casual flag observers.

The 14-stripe flag in the king’s royal bleep-up has a red horizontal across the top but white across the bottom. The pattern is a clear disruption of standard flag symmetry. The disgrace of Old Glory never should have slipped past the eyes of all the king’s men.

The breaches of protocol are so profound it’s reasonable to ask if it’s an intentional diplomatic broadside, fired from the once-powerful, now plucky little Sloop Great B. He aimed his public cannonade at the biggest frigate on the planet and its heavily armed crew of 350 million.

The gravity of the King of England’s diplomatic Dunkirk is compounded by the nature of the US-UK relationship and the one-sided history of Britain’s secondary status for, um, 250 years today.

DISGRACE 1 - The king sent his Old Inglorious to Americans 250 years to the day after we told His Royal Highness to kiss We the People’s Republic Heinie.

DISGRACE 2 - The royal mess was no ordinary message, but part of a tightly orchestrated diplomatic exchange between the two most powerful allies on earth.

DISGRACE 3 - King Chuck the Brazen sent the insult not just to any diplomatic partner, but to the most powerful nation on earth. A nation that could crush Great Britain in minutes.

DISGRACE 4 - The USA already bitch-slapped the Brits twice even when we were outgunned, outmanned and outfunded — even when the land of king-spittle-lickers thought it was most powerful nation in the world. Yeah, right!

DISGRACE 5 - Let’s not forget that after Uncle Sam busted Britain’s nose twice back in the day, he rushed his cavalry to England’s rescue in 1917. We’re good like that.

DISGRACE 6 - Uncle Sam then sent Kindergarten Cop Ike over to England in the 1940s to straighten out all the children in Europe’s playpen and, after 2,000 years of perpetual playground fights, teach them to play nice.

The King of England didn’t get the message the first 250 years. But here is the message again, in plain American: The British monarchy exists today only because of, and serves at the leisure of, the American people.

Smarten up, Chuck.

Oh, and one other thing: when Americans sing “God Save the King” — we’re talking about Elvis.

Here’ s a look at the Thug Adams selection of the seven greatest patriots in American history.

We look beyond media cliches and academia groupthink to highlight the essential figures who gave their all to American liberty, made defining contributions to American exceptionalism or who never wavered in their commitment to the American cause — even in those times that tried men’s (and women’s) souls.

Let’s put it this way: you’d certainly find only person, and possibly a second, from our list that America’s currently illiterate media and fattened cattle herd of academics would have considered.

We stand by all seven — just as they stood by the United States of America over its 250 years of independence.

The words were hewn from the Rocky Mountains and their power chiseled into the cornerstone of American liberty.

“O beautiful for spacious skies/For amber waves of grain/For purple mountain majesties/Above the fruited plain!” read the opening lines of “America the Beautiful.”

The anthem is best known for its sprawling portrait of the physical grandeur of the United States. But the true purpose of “America the Beautiful” is largely lost.

It’s not a song. It’s a prayer.

The author, professor and poet Katharine Lee Bates (1859-1929), mentions the national landscape in only the first stanza. The remaining three verses harvest healing and hope in wake of civil warfare from a fruited plain of faith.

Bates herself referred to the song as a “hymn.” It’s a call for gratitude and national unity that pays homage to America’s spiritual beauty and offers eternal lessons to the citizens of a polarized United States today.

The patriotic panegyric was written by a preacher’s daughter following sins, slavery and slaughter, that tore apart the nation when the titan of letters was a toddler.

The educator was born and raised in Falmouth, Mass., a harbor town on a narrow wisp of seaside sand. Cape Cod. Congregationalist minister Rev. William Bates baptized his daughter as his last act of the cloth. He died when his baby girl was 6 weeks old.

President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated before Bates turned 6. The murder was followed by profound sadness in her community that Bates easily recalled late in life.

The power of faith and creative energy “undimmed by human tears” that healed the United States is the central message Bates delivers us today in “America the Beautiful.”

The bright, curious and gifted young woman attended Wellesley College in Massachusetts and came into a circle of renowned American writers, including Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and William Dean Howells. Years later she mentored young poet Robert Frost.

Bates, a professor at her alma mater, traveled 2,000 miles across the continent in the summer of 1893 for a seasonal teaching gig in Colorado.

She scaled Pikes Peak and was stunned by the soul-soaring sights of her homeland hailed from new heights.

She marveled at the incomprehensible contrast of her American experience. The eternal solidity of the Rocky Mountains and the sprawling continent unaltered by human hands beneath her perch 14,107 feet above sea level was an other-worldly image next to the drifting wind- and sea-swept sands of her native Cape Cod, where “pilgrim feet … a thoroughfare of freedom beat” for the first time in the New World nearly 300 years earlier.

Two worlds. One nation. But in both she saw that “God shed his grace on thee.”

“It was then and there, as I was looking out over the sea-like expanse of the fertile country spreading away so far under those ample skies, that the opening lines of the hymn floated into my mind,” Bates told the Boston Evening Transcript in 1904.

“When we left Colorado Springs, the four stanzas were penciled in my notebook, together with other memoranda, in verse and prose, of the trip.”

VERSE 1

O beautiful for spacious skies/For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties/Above the fruited plain!
America! America!/God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood/From sea to shining sea!

Bates sets the stage for gratitude with a tribute to the divine beauty of God’s creation: a vast land of open spaces, soaring peaks and bountiful harvests.

It’s the United States of raw natural wonder she witnessed for the first time atop Pikes Peak.

Her opening verse echoes the sentiment of Lincoln’s Thanksiving proclamation of 1863. The natural bounty of the United States offered ever-expanding resources even while the nation was torn by fratercidal war. It was indication, Lincoln offered, that God, “while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.”

VERSE 2

O beautiful for pilgrim feet/Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat/Across the wilderness!
America! America!/God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control/Thy liberty in law!

The second stanza pays homage to pilgrims — both the Pilgrims of 1620 and the immigrants who followed — and the necessity of morality in a world of temptation.

She subtly notes our national and human imperfections with a plea for God to “mend thine every flaw.” But she reminds Americans that we must prove worthy of His forgiveness with “self control” and devotion to our foundational principles of “liberty in law.”

She echoes the call for personal discipline John Adams cited as essential to liberty in 1798.

VERSE 3

O beautiful for heroes proved/In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved/And mercy more than life!
America! America!/May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness/And every gain divine!

“America the Beautiful” gains emotional immediacy in the definitive Ray Charles rendition, which he opens with the powerful third passage.

It describes American war heroes as Christian soldiers whose devotion to country and Christ were stronger than their love of self, which they proved by sacrificing themselves “in liberating strife.”

Lincoln delivered the same reminder in the Gettysburg Address: we have an obligation to honor those heroes who gave “the last full measure of devotion” to higher cause.

The testament to the United States as defender of Christian faith strongly echoes “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” written three decades earlier during the Civil War by another Massachusetts woman, Julia Ward Howe.

“As he died to make men holy let us die to make men free,” Howe wrote in her statement of Biblical mission that Thug Adams calls “America’s Fight Song.”

VERSE 4

O beautiful for patriot dream/That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam/Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!/God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood/From sea to shining sea!

Bates describes the explosive human energy of the United States in Verse 4, the blessing evident in the rapid rise of gleaming new cities.

It is the established civil society she knew growing up in the shadows of the Pilgrims that contrasted so deeply with the raw natural bounty of the nation she saw for the first time atop Pikes Peak and describes in Verse 1.

Both the natural and human wonders of the United States are signs that “God shed his grace on thee” — using the phrase in the first verse and only again here in the final verse.

We also find another echo of Lincoln’s Thanksgiving proclamation. He cited the nation’s ceaseless economic expansion, despite the ravages of war, as “gracious gifts of the Most High God.”

The fourth verse ties a narrative bow around a national prayer.

“America the Beautiful” is blessed by abundant gifts from God:

• natural wonders of divine creation (Verse 1)

• forefathers who carved liberty and law from wilderness (Verse 2)

• heroes who sacrificed their lives to defend those values (Verse 3), and

• unprecedented human creative energy (Verse 4).

THE AMERICAN SPIRITUAL

A profound Christian paradigm, shared in other faiths, is central to the narrative of “America the Beautiful.”

Destruction (war) is evil. Creation (industry) is divine.

Katherine Lee Bates lived the creative arc of “America the Beautiful.” She was born in a time of unfathomable national tragedy. It was followed by national growth unprecedented in human history.

Bates was born into a nation of 31 million people in 1859. When she died in 1929, at age 69, the United States had grown four-fould to a populaton of 123 million.

Bates in her lifetime saw that faith, personal discipline and national unity were central to continued blessings. “America the Beautiful” pleas to us today, twice, to heed the call of unity.

“Crown thy good with brotherhood,” Bates writes at the end of both the first and final verses, “from sea to shining sea.”

Call it the Bang Heard ‘Round the World.

Philadelphia flagmaker bombshell Betsy Ross may have been the unnamed femme fatale who took one for Team USA in 1776 — seducing a Hessian officer in a tawdry three-day tryst to ensure the success of Gen. George Washington’s daring Christmas night raid across the Delaware River.

Not internet clickbait, people. Historian David Hackett Fischer drops the tale of sexual intrigue like it ain’t no thang into his Pulitzer Prize-winning 2004 tome, “Washington’s Crossing.” Ross, idealized in national lore as the prim, proper patriot who stitched our national colors for the first time, may also be the war whore who waylaid a regimental commander, sidelining his entire unit of reinforcements, during the turning-point battle of the American Revolution.

The rebellion was on the brink of collapse in late 1776 when Washington launched his audacious plan to save the original “No Kings” protest.

His surprise attack across the Delaware smashed the Hessian garrison at Trenton, N.J., sparked a series of colonial victories and renewed faith in the cause of independence at the end of a year of crushing defeats. Americans know it today as the “Spirit of ‘76” – dauntless commitment to a cause even in its darkest hours.

The Battle of Trenton — and world history — might have turned out differently had Col. Count Carl von Donop’s regiment joined the fight. Instead, the leaderless military unit sat idle while its commanding officer’s personal unit was busy getting busy.

The derelict von Donop spent three days entertaining an “exceedingly beautiful young widow” at his headquarters in Mount Holly, N.J. at Christmastime 1776, according to scandalous testimony by Hessian Captain Johann Ewald.

Washington’s secret weapon took down an entire enemy unit by going down on its cocksure commander. She conquered the regiment without firing a single shot, though might have taken a few direct hits from the reputed sharpshooter.

The theory that Ross rode Von Donop to victory was first offered by historian Joseph Tustin, Fischer writes in in “Washington’s Crossing.” He reports of the incident only briefly:

“In December 1776, there was a young and very beautiful young widow, a ‘Free Quaker,’ strongly sympathetic to the American cause who lived in Philadelphia … “(Betsy Ross) had family connections in Gloucester County, New Jersey, was married there, and often went back and forth. She was acquainted with … George Washington.”

That’s it! The only other reference to Risque Ross that Fischer drops briefly into his celebrated history of Washington’s sensational gambit then moves on. Nothing to see here, people!

It is in fact one of the most salacious suggestions in world history. And offers insight into the complex humanity we forget existed among the generation that won independence.

Ross is imagined in American lore as a matronly seamstress who stitched together the stars-and-stripes for Gen. Washington earlier that year.

She was, however, just 23 years old and a wartime widow. She had already lost one husband to the cause of independence. She was widowed again before the end of the war. Ross was, by contemporary accounts and current language, something of a smokeshow.

The famed flagmaker checks all the boxes of the femme fatale frolicking for freedom: Young. Beautiful. Widow. Patriot. Lived in Philadelphia. Knew Washington. Had family near Trenton. It’s perfectly reasonable to suggest Ross was in the area visiting relatives for the Christmas holiday.

Ross is, at the very least, among a very short list of candidates for the historic role of Washington’s secret bombshell. Keep in mind the truly sparse population of the future nation at the time.

Philadelphia was the largest city in the colonies at the time with no more than 40,000 residents. The number of women in the city who matched the description of Washington’s sexy secret weapon might very well have been counted on one finger.

Ross.

A patriotic service, for sure. But perhaps the victory vixen welcomed the role of Washington’s bombshell. And why not? A widow in the prime of her feminine beauty certainly might crave male attention. Von Donop would have been quite a catch, even as the enemy. He was reportedly a dashing figure who enjoyed prestige as a military officer, and was considered something of a lady’s man.

Washington, with his rich network of spies, may have known about and exploited the Hessian’s weakness for women.

Stands to reason the general called upon the beautiful young patriot he met earlier in 1776, and who had just lost her husband in the war, to gain revenge on an enemy of American independence.

Betsy Ross has been reduced by history to humble seamstress. But she was, of course, a much more complex human being and the miracle of independence required patriot sacrifices beyond those we imagine or remember today.

Ross gave to the cause of freedom her professional skills, sacrificed two husbands, and perhaps even surrendered her body itself.

Washington Redskins fans harbor hopes that franchise owner Josh Harris is an honorable man and will reclaim the team’s patriotic Native American heritage and its proud image of Blackfeet chief John Two Guns White Calf.

Don’t count on it.

We already know that the Soros family-funded National Congress of American Indians (NCAI) orchestrated the relentless, racist media attack, starting in October 2013, that forced the Washington Redskins to drop its Native American name, face and legacy in July 2020.

Well, there’s a new addition to the story. And it’s not good news for those who believe in truth, justice and the American way.

The Daily Wire has a report this week linking Harris with heavy-hitter, far-left public relations firm BerlinRosen, which claims it assisted the businessman to make “the biggest deal in U.S. sports history” when he bought the Redskins in 2023.

The story discusses BerlinRosen’s role in Harris’s relationship with late pedo to the stars Jeffrey Epstein. Certainly a compelling story.

But more compelling for our purposes: BerlinRosen is the PR attack dog who takes millions from George Soros to manage the image of far-left politicians and causes around the country.

The Washington Free Beacon reported that story back in March:

“Campaign finance records reviewed by the Washington Free Beacon show that the PACs Soros uses to fund left-wing DA campaigns have steered millions of dollars to BerlinRosen, a PR firm that ‘happens to be the largest expenditure item for nearly all Soros DA campaign spending,’ according to the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund.”

So there you go.

Soros funded the attack that took down the Redskins. He funds BerlinRosen to execute his strategy to remake the United States as a leftist third-world hellhole. And the man who bought the rebranded Redskins in 2023 did so with an assist from Soros’s same public relations political pitbull.

The tragedies write themselves.

Matthias Trum is the caretaker of a culinary tradition of global cultural and historic importance.

He is the sixth-generation family brewmaster at Schlenkerla Rauchbier Brewery in Bamberg, Germany. Located in the northern Bavarian district of Franken (Franconia), Bamberg boasts one of the world’s largest and most beautifully preserved medieval centers, as well the world’s greatest concentration of small, independent breweries producing traditional styles of beer such as rauchbier (smoked beer) and kellerbier (cellar beer).

It’s here in Bamberg’s medieval Altstadt (Old City) where Trum makes what we have declared the world’s greatest single beer: Schlenkerla Marzen Rauchbier.

The statement of global superiority was made during Thug’s era hoisting mugs as the first American mainstream media journalist covering the international craft beer scene.

Schlenkerla’s flagship rauchbier is a dark lager of incredible depth yet effortless drinkability, highlighted by its signature fragrant whiff and flavor of hardwood smoke (rauch is German for smoke). It’s an ancient beer-making tradition that was kept alive into modern times only in Bamberg, by both Schlenkerla and the nearby Spezial Brewery.

Schlenkerla has made at least one other major contribution to global bierkraft: Trum’s ancestors five generation earlier brewed a remarkable 0.9% low-alcohol lager called Hansla.

Hansla was a masterful achievement by the brewing technology of the era and proved to be 200 years ahead of a shocking disruption in global drinking habits that escalated during COVID lockdowns in 2020.

Alcohol consumption has plummeted in recent years. The decline is sharpest among young adults today who drink far less than previous generations.

The drop in drinking has had disastrous ripple effect on the bar and restaurant industry. Consumers go out less, order fewer drinks when they do, and spend less money on the beer, wine and spirits that drive restaurant profits. Social media has replaced the barroom as the best place to meet new people, compounding the problem for business owners.

Producers have rushed to fill the void in beer, wine and booze consumption with “zero proof” and low-alcohol options. Guinness 0, for example, has exploded in popularity and has saved the global brand from catastrophic business loss in recent years.

The Trum family was 200 years ahead of them all.

Matthias Trum discovered the recipe for Hansla, handwritten by one of his ancestor brewmasters, Konrad Graser, among his grandmother’s estate papers after she died in 2015 at age 104. Graser brewed Schlenkerla beer from 1840 to 1866.

Trum knew he was looking at a piece of culinary and cultural history. But it took quite a bit of help from scholars to decipher to recipe written in an early German script and using outdated brewing terminology.

Trum finally re-introduced Hansla as a year-round addition to Schlenkerla’s offerings, then began bottling the beer and selling it to go amid the COVID restrictions of 2020.

The thirst for buzz-free drinking is widely seen as a modern phenomenon.

But as Trum learned and discusses in the video, the market for low-alcohol beer, and the technology to make it, has existed for centuries.

The 10-part HBO documentary drama “Band of Brothers” is now 25 years old but, for our money, still the greatest program in television history.

“Band of Brothers” was produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks on the heels of the success of 1998 flick “Saving Private Ryan,” a fictional drama based upon the D-Day invasion of Europe 82 years ago — June 6, 1944.

“Band of Brothers” is the real story of real men in real combat. It’s based upon the 1992 Stephen Ambrose book of the same name, describing the exploits of paratroopers from Easy Co. of the 101st Airborne Division’s 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR).

The HBO series was originally released Sept. 9, 2001, so its immediate impact and acclaim were tempered by the 9/11 terrorist tragedy two days later.

It’s since become perhaps the most definitive and most influential account of American GIs in combat during World War II.

“Band of Brothers” made celebrities of the real-life superheroes of Easy Co. And deservedly so. But let’s not forget Easy is a representative unit of the Greatest Generation.

There were hundreds of Easy Companies with hundreds of thousands of ordinary men who became real-life superheroes fighting for the U.S. and Allies in World War II — all worthy of the same acclaim.

Easy Co. was distinctive in one respect. It was engaged in almost every major landmark event of the war on the Western Front from 1944 to 1945.

Easy jumped into Normandy on D-Day and then again into Holland in September 1944. It survived the brutal winter siege of Bastogne during the Battle of Bulge, liberated a German concentration camp, and fought all the way across Germany where it had the distinction of capturing Hitler’s Alpine fortress at Berchtesgaden.

“Band of Brothers” is packed with action and drama, both grand in scope and human in impact. There are plenty of incredible scenes in the series. These are the 10 best.

10 – Speirs tells Blithe to accept he’s already dead

(Episode No. 3, “Carentan”)

Cpl. Albert Blithe is painted as a coward in the TV series, though the books by Ambrose (”Band of Brothers”) and company commander Dick Winters (”Beyond Band of Brothers”) are a bit kinder.

Lt. Ronald Speirs, meanwhile, is presented as the baddest-ass mo-fo in the entire 101st Airborne.

The two make for one of the most chilling scenes in the series: Speirs comes upon Blithe in the dark of night, as the corporal is cowering in a foxhole outside Carentan, awaiting a German counterattack. Blithe admits to Spiers that he hid in a ditch on D-Day because he was too scared to fight.

Speirs tells Blithe that “we’re all scared” and then bends down to tell Blithe the real reason he hid in that ditch. The short, chilling monologue offers insight into the nihilism that many soldiers had to adopt to psychologically survive combat:

“We’re all scared. You hid in that ditch because you think there’s still hope. But Blithe, the only hope you have is to accept the fact that you’re already dead. And the sooner you accept that, the sooner you’ll be able to function as a soldier’s supposed to function. Without mercy. Without compassion. Without remorse. All war depends upon it.”

Brrrrr!!!!

9 – Lipton recites Henry V/Winters reads grandson letter

(Episode No. 10, “Points”)

The wartime narrative concludes with the Easy Co. survivors playing baseball in Austria after Germany’s surrender.

Winters voices over what became of some of the men after the war: from cab drivers and postmen to historical figures. Lt. Lynn “Buck” Compton, for example, became the California prosecutor who convicted Robert Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan.

The episode (like each before it) then fades out with actual members of Easy Co., now old men, provide contemporary context.

Lipton recites the famous St. Crispin’s Day passage from Shakespeare’s “Henry V” before the Battle of Agincourt, the speech that spawned the name of the series:

From this day to the ending of the world,

We in it shall be remembered;

We few, we lucky few, we band of brothers;

For he who today that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother

And then, in the beautiful and sad final scene of the series, Winters recounts a letter he shared later in life with Mike Ranney, one of the men of Easy.

“I cherish the memories of a question my grandson asked me the other day when he said, “Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?’ Grandpa said no. But I served with a company of heroes.”

Grown men don’t cry ... except at the end of “Band of Brothers.”

8 – Malarkey picks up laundry of dead comrades

(Episode No. 3, “Carentan”)

The most poignant scenes in “Band of Brothers” are not those of the battles. They come from the clever intimate ways in which the producers remind viewers of the human cost amid a war of global scope.

This is one of those scenes: Easy had returned to England after three weeks of combat in France following D-Day. Malarkey heads to the local village laundry to pick up the clothes he left before the invasion.

The English woman at the laundry has a bunch of extra bundles from men in his unit.

“You couldn’t be a dear and help me with a few others, could you?” she says to the GI.

Malarkey stares blankly at the woman as she reads off the names of the men who have yet to pick up their laundry. It’s the names of all the men who were killed or wounded in Normandy. You get the impression the woman knows they’re dead, too. But she’s gotta do something with all the laundry.

It would have been a long list if she read all the names: In three weeks in Normandy in June 1944, Easy lost 65 men – about half the company.

7 – Easy’s D-Day assault on Brecourt Manor

(Episode No. 2, “Day of Days”)

For many, this is the most memorable scene in the series.

Winters, Easy’s executive officer (second in command) is ordered, just hours after dropping into Normandy, to take out an emplacement of four German 105s that are firing deadly shells on the men landing nearby on Utah Beach.

It is the first combat action for Winters and for most, if not every, man in the company. Under the lieutenant’s instinctive leadership, the small squad he assmbled destroys all four guns, against the loss of one man killed.

The assault established Winters as a brave, level-headed leader and brilliant tactician. His is now the undisputed leader of Easy, as the company CO apparently died during the drop, with the respect of every man in the unit.

“We’re just glad you’re our leader,” Sgt. Guarnere, a tough street kid from Philadelphia, who previously mocked Winters as a soft, teetotaler Mennonite, tells the lieutenant in the final scene, on nightfall of D-Day.

Every success the unit had throughout the war was a result of the leadership and confidence they found at Brecourt Manor.

We learn in the closing credits that the attack Winters plotted under the pressure of D-Day is still taught today at West Point, as a textbook example of an assault on a fixed position. There has also been a movement to get Congress to award Winters the Medal of Honor for his actions at Brecourt.

6 – Speirs takes command of Easy at Foy

(Episode No. 7, “The Breaking Point”)

Badass Speirs is a feared figure among the 506th PIR because of a rumor that he handed a group of German prisoners cigarettes on D-Day and then gunned them down in cold blood.

The rumor – never confirmed – grow over the course of the war. His legend is confirmed during Easy Co.’s effort to take the Belgian town Foy after the siege at Bastogne.

Lt. Dike, had taken over the unit when Winters was promoted to battalion staff. He proves ineffective, the men despise him and he cracks up during the attack on Fox. Winters orders Speirs, commander of Dog Co., to relieve Dike and he instantly gains control of the situation.

Speirs orders men into position and then races to connect with I Company on the other side of the town — running right out in front of his own men and and the Germans, completely exposed to a hail of rifle and artillery fire.

The incredible scene is narrated in a near-whisper by a disbelieving Sgt. Lipton:
