The controversy erupted after Tuberville reposted a side-by-side image of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani hosting a Ramadan meal inside City Hall. The image included the caption: “The enemy is inside the gates.” The post surfaced just hours before news broke of terrorist attacks at Temple Israel and Old Dominion University.

Democrats, including Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, blasted Tuberville’s remarks as “Islamophobic” and demanded he apologize. Tuberville, however, stood firm during his appearance on The Todd Starnes Show.

“I don’t have any regrets whatsoever, Todd. Thanks for having me on. I meant every word I said,” Tuberville declared.

The senator tied his warning to broader national security concerns, pointing to unrest abroad and what he described as unchecked migration under previous administrations.

“There’s a reason we’re over in Iran right now, trying to free a country that has been taken hostage for the last 47 years,” Tuberville said. “President Trump’s doing the world a favor. Not just doing our country a favor.”

He then sharpened his criticism of former Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

“As you’ve had on your screen there, the enemy is inside our gates. We got them here. Joe Biden and Barack Obama brought them here by the thousands. It’s a disgrace,” Tuberville said.

Tuberville went further, arguing that individuals who promote Sharia law have no place in the United States.

“If you preach or teach Sharia law, you need to go home. You don’t fit in the United States of America. We’re a Christian country,” he said.

The Alabama lawmaker accused Democrats of weaponizing immigration policy for political gain.

“The Muslims are the voters of the future for the Democratic Party,” Tuberville said. “I’m gonna tell it like it is, Todd, and I’ve done that since I’ve been here and I’m not backing off now.”

When Starnes referenced Gillibrand’s rebuke — calling Tuberville’s remarks “disgraceful and unbecoming of a Senator” — Tuberville responded by warning that the United States is on the brink of deeper conflict if immigration enforcement is not tightened.

“Open gates, globalists, let everybody in for four years, not knowing who they are,” he said. “They’re building cells all over the country. We got a fight on our hands coming, Todd.”

Tuberville pointed to developments in Europe as a cautionary tale.

“If you just look at what’s happened to Europe … to ever get their country back the way it used to be 10, 15, 20 years ago, they’re going to fight in the streets,” he said. “Do we want to wait till we have to fight in the streets or do we want to kick them out now and say enough?”

The senator also criticized media coverage of an Islamic academy in Alabama, saying local residents successfully blocked its expansion over concerns about its teachings.

“They went to a school board member and said no more expansion of this school. They’re teaching Sharia law. They’re going by the Quran,” Tuberville said. “We’re not stupid. We actually can read.”

Tuberville praised community members who opposed the expansion and signaled that, if he seeks higher office in Alabama, he would take a hard line.

“Hopefully I’ll be the future governor of the state of Alabama and I won’t give them every opportunity to leave — go somewhere else,” he said. “We’re not going to do that in the state of Alabama.”

The senator also highlighted the actions of ROTC cadets who reportedly subdued a gunman at Old Dominion University.

“ROTC kids … they saved people’s lives,” Tuberville said. “It’s time to quit worrying about getting reelected and talk about the things that we need to save this country.”

Calling radical Islam “at the top of the list,” Tuberville concluded with a stark warning.

“We have to wake up now,” he said. “They want a caliphate in this country and they want to kill every American. They do not want to assimilate — and we’ve got to talk about it.”

Appearing on Newsmax with host Todd Starnes, Burchett opened with a sharp jab at the South Carolina senator’s hawkish foreign policy views.

“I got to be careful what I say about Lindsay,” Burchett quipped. “I don’t want to get my farm carpet bombed out here.”

The Tennessee congressman’s sarcasm quickly gave way to serious concerns — not just about foreign intervention, but about what he described as a broken culture inside Washington, D.C., particularly in the U.S. Senate.

Burchett said he has been stunned by the Senate’s inaction on legislation he considers common sense, including his bill to defund the Taliban, which he noted receives an estimated $40 million a week.

“I keep saying that thing that just ran by you was a glacier,” Burchett said. “They had my bill up to defund the Taliban every week. They get 40 million dollars a year — my money — and I can’t get it on the floor. It’s beyond me.”

He accused Senate leadership in both parties of putting power ahead of the American people.

“I think what you really see though is the sewer of Washington D.C.,” Burchett said. “You’ve got people in leadership that hate this president so much that they’ll wreck the country so they can stay in power or gain more power.”

The congressman argued that entrenched lawmakers have grown too comfortable in Washington and too disconnected from their constituents.

“It’s about the suburban lifestyle, it’s about that three-deep security going into places, not standing in line,” he said. “Forgetting about the people that you represent.”

Burchett said the dysfunction is especially glaring in the Senate, where key appointments have stalled amid political infighting.

“If we don’t retain the majority, not a single one of them will get approved,” he warned. “Not a single one of them. And they’ve just been dragging their heels the whole way through.”

When asked about Senate Republicans who have brushed off grassroots criticism as the work of “paid influencers,” Burchett dismissed the claim as “ridiculous.”

“That’s exactly what it is,” he said. “It’s just somebody that doesn’t understand what’s going on. They’ve spent too much time in Washington.”

Burchett said voters across Tennessee — including during his travels supporting Sen. Marsha Blackburn’s gubernatorial campaign — repeatedly ask why Congress cannot pass the SAVE Act.

“Why does my kid have to show a birth certificate when they play little league baseball?” he asked. “Why do I have to show an ID if I go buy a six-pack of beer or a scratch-off down at the Weigel’s here in Knoxville?”

Turning back to foreign policy, Burchett took aim at what he sees as a war-first mentality among some in Washington.

“He likes the fight. He likes the war and the battle,” Burchett said of Graham. “But it’s not him or me. It’s going to be my 18-year-old daughter that goes and fights in one of those crazy wars.”

Burchett said Americans are weary of endless foreign entanglements and want leaders focused on securing trade routes and stabilizing energy markets without sending more U.S. troops overseas.

“They’d have to be disgusted,” he said of South Carolinians potentially being sent into another Middle East conflict.

Despite his frustration, Burchett signaled openness to pragmatic solutions on immigration and economic policy, including seasonal work programs and investment incentives in Central America.

But his overarching message was clear: Washington’s culture of delay, political gamesmanship and war posturing has worn thin.

And if Senate leadership doesn’t change course soon, Burchett suggested voters may deliver their own form of political carpet bombing at the ballot box.

He rehashed some of the incredible successes of his administration. He rattled off the number of dumpster fires that were extinguished. He reminded them of his promise to make America great again.

But there was a moment during the president’s speech that really sucker punched a lot of America First conservatives — including yours truly.

The president begging — begging — members of his own party.

He pleaded with members of his own party to pass the Save America Act.

“So I’m making my biggest plea tonight, it’ll make you, and I’m not doing it for this reason, at all. It’ll guarantee the midterms. It’ll guaranteed the mid terms. If you don’t get it, big trouble, my opinion. If you get this, you’re midtermes and they know it. For two reasons, number one, they won’t be able to cheat. And number two, the people are demanding it.”

There were multiple moments during that speech — and the news conference that followed — where the president warned that we risk losing everything if we do not pass the Save America Act.

The polling data shows that this is an issue most Americans support. It’s nearly an 80-20 issue — forcing people to show some form of identification before they vote.

You’ve got to have an ID to get into a nightclub.
You’ve got to have one to buy a bottle of NyQuil.
You even have to show ID to shovel snow in New York City.

Ninety-five percent of Republicans favor a photo ID to vote.

But Senate Republicans just refuse to budge.

And the man blocking the president’s agenda — the guy on your TV screen right now — none other than Senate Majority Leader John Thune.

Leader Thune dismissed Americans who support the Save America Act. He said the only people raising a stink are paid influencers.

Now look, I want to say something about that.

What a despicable thing to say about your fellow conservatives, sir.

I’ve been one of the loudest voices on the radio, and I can tell you that I haven’t received a single penny from anybody. Nobody.

As a matter of fact, I consider it my patriotic duty to make sure people are not cheating at the ballot box.

But since Leader Thune brought it up, I’ve got a question for that guy: How much money are you being paid to stop the president’s agenda, sir?

You want to have a conversation about integrity?

Hey, I’m ready to have that conversation, Senator Thune.

You can call me whatever you’d like, but you don’t dare insult the millions of Newsmax viewers who simply want fair elections.

I wish I could have delivered that message to Senator Thune in person. He has been invited on this program, but he turned us down. Says he’s just too busy.

Not too busy to attend a Mardi Gras parade featuring canines and costumes — but priorities being what they are these days, I reckon the senator could not be bothered to answer to his constituents.

Or maybe he’s just dealing with a bout of political cowardice.

Thune was asked about invoking the talking filibuster earlier today. Here’s what he had to say:

“We don’t have the votes either to proceed, get on a talking filibuster, nor to sustain one if we got on it. It’s about the votes. It’s the math. And for better or worse, I’m the one who has to be the clear-eyed realist about what we can achieve here.”

Clear-eyed realist. That’s the real John Thune, folks.

It’s not hard to imagine that Thune is intentionally trying to sabotage the president’s agenda — slow-walking nearly every piece of legislation. It’s like pulling teeth.

God bless senators like Mike Lee and Marsha Blackburn and Katie Britt. They’ve supported the Save America Act from day one.

That very well may be our saving grace here if Thune refuses to do what the American people have demanded.

He ought to be removed from Senate leadership.

It really is that simple.

And I’m afraid it really is that necessary.

It’s bad enough that President Trump must deal with a rogue press corps and scheming Democrats — Rand Paul, Thomas Massie.

I can only imagine his frustration at having to deal with the backstabbing snakes in his own party.

Senator Thune smeared 95 percent of his own party.

And he should answer for that.
