Here in the United States, our republican, constitutional system of governance is predicated on the idea that we are capable of self-governance, or, self-control. Without this principle, the American republic is doomed, because a society that is not capable of governing its own passions quickly becomes ungovernable.

Our second president spelled it out clearly for us:

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution is designed only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for any other."

What is the only real Source of the ability to govern yourself, ultimately? The Spirit of God. Self-control is one of the fruits of His Spirit.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”

— Galatians 5:22-23

Oh, you can fake it for a short while, apart from the Lord. But when you build your house on shifting sand, it will always end up falling down, when the inevitable storms of life come. It’s as sure as the sunrise. We reap what we sow. These are the simple, easily-understandable laws of nature, that our Creator built into His creation.

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

Neither liberty, nor governments, can long survive if the people become wicked. Look around, from our national capitol, to our state governments, to media and entertainment, to business, to our churches, right down to the level of your own household and its members.

Do you see wickedness rearing its ugly head?

To whatever extent you do, that is the danger that is now being posed to the existence of the American republic, and the survival of our earthly posterity in liberty.

Evil in public office, in the economic marketplace, or in the marketplace of ideas, has as its source the evil that has taken root in the hearts of the people themselves.

Any honest observer of the American scene has to recognize that we, as a people, are in deep, deep trouble.

So, what is the solution?

It begins in the minds and hearts of each of us as individuals.

Return to the Lord. Repent. Turn back to Him. It’s really, really simple.

Without Him, there is no hope.

With Him, we are promised eternal, and temporal blessings.

“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

“You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

If you want to restore the American republic, along with the multitude of blessings that came with it, you must restore the principles upon which that government was premised.

"But what do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments of their duties and obligations."

So, there you go. The simple diagnosis, and the remedy, all in a nutshell:

“He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?”

Truth be told, the formula for safety, and security, and liberty, and prosperity, has never changed, from the creation of the world, to America’s founding, to today. It has always remained the same. “Do justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly with your God.” That’s it.

Trump constantly does stuff that looks incredibly dumb, in a political sense. The kind of things that any politician of the past would have avoided like the plague, because he knows deep down in his gut that if he did even one of them, he'd be finished, politically, forever.

As a Christian, this suggests to me that Trump's power is demonic, because it defies the very nature of political things - and yet he survives, politically, somehow.

We are still in the midst of a vast spiritual delusion in this country.

It is, I believe, a judgment from the Lord, one that fell first upon God's own house, i.e., on a large fraction of the Christians.

I shudder at the judgments that are bound to soon follow, short of mass repentance by the church, and, more generally, by the people of this country.

“For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?” -- I Peter 4:17

Once upon a time, long ago, I was the national political director for Alan Keyes. I helped propel him briefly into the top tier of Republican candidates for president in 2000, when the GOP field was finally narrowed down to Bush, McCain, and Keyes.

Sadly, some folks don't understand the difference between political ideology and Christianity.

For many, ideology is their religion.

Now, don't get me wrong. If Christianity doesn't drive your politics, neither your Christianity or your politics is likely to be much good.

It's just that real Christianity ain't about something so trivial as politics.

Christianity is about what is eternal, and priceless, which is souls.

Politics, while important in its own rightful sphere, is only about that which is temporary, and therefore swiftly passing away.

47 years ago, I stood at a window in Tehran as a 3-year-old boy, smelling burning tires and hearing the chants that would steal my country. I didn’t have words for what was happening. Today, I am watching smoke rise over the same city — but this time the smoke is not the end of Iran. It is, God willing, the beginning of her resurrection.

Several weeks ago I wrote in that the fever of 1979 was finally breaking. I never imagined I would wake up to see that fever confronted so directly. Israel — with the clear support of the United States — has launched a preemptive strike deep into Tehran and against the regime’s military machinery. Explosions in the capital. Military targets hit. The IRGC’s aura of invincibility, already cracked, is shattering in real time.

I do not celebrate war. No decent person does. What I celebrate — what millions of Iranians inside the country and in the diaspora have prayed for in secret for decades — is the possibility that a regime which has no right to exist may finally be forced to go.

This is the same regime that:
- Armed and cheered the October 7 massacre against Israel for no reason other than pure genocidal hatred.
- Murdered tens of thousands of its own sons and daughters who dared to walk peacefully in the streets demanding the most basic freedoms.
- Gouges out the eyes of young women for the “crime” of wearing makeup.
- Hangs teenagers from cranes for posting a tweet.
- Exports terror, poverty, and darkness to every corner it can reach including the U.S.

No nation, no people, should have to live under that. Not Israelis. Not Americans. Not Lebanese. Not Syrians. And certainly not Iranians.

I am a physician who has spent his life trying to heal bodies and a son of Iran who has spent his life mourning a stolen homeland. What we are witnessing is not aggression — it is surgery. Painful, necessary surgery to remove a tumor that has metastasized for 47 years. The tumor is the Islamic Republic that has hijacked Iran.

To the brave pilots and special operators of the Israeli Air Force and the men and women of the United States military now carrying out this mission: I pray for you with everything I have.

May God shield you from harm. May every missile find its target and every soldier return home safely to the families who love them. You are not invaders. You are the answer to the prayers of millions who have whispered “enough” in the dark since 1979. You are giving our friends the chance to breathe free air again. The entire region will owe you a peace we have not known in my lifetime.

To my fellow Iranians watching from inside the country right now, heart pounding, maybe hiding in basements or on rooftops: Hold on. The end is clearer than it has ever been. The regime’s fear is real. Their eyes — those same eyes that once stared down at us with absolute power — now show something they haven’t shown in decades: panic. The math has changed. The window of 1979 is finally closing.

To the little three-year-old boy I once was — and to every little boy and girl in Tehran, Isfahan, Shiraz, and Tabriz today who hears explosions instead of lullabies: This time the sounds are not the closing of a door. They are the opening of one.

The road ahead will not be easy. Transitions never are. But the direction is unmistakable. A secular, prosperous, free Iran is no longer a dream — it is becoming an inevitability.

I have lived the stolen life so that others might not have to. Today, for the first time in 47 years, I allow myself to believe that the stealing is almost over.

Thank you, Israel. Thank you, America. The Iranian people — the real Iran — will never forget.

Trump/MAGA/ICE violence against the rights of citizens to peaceably assemble,  publicly speak out about, or film, ICE's activities in our communities is a ferocious physical government attack on the First Amendment. They're lawless thugs. Let's be blunt about it.

The shooting of Alex Pretti ten times in the back was a murderous attack on his supreme God-given, intrinsic, natural right, the right to live, but also negated his constitutional rights under the First and the Second Amendments.

ICE arrests and searches without judicial warrants, or any other lawful authority, are an obvious negation of the Fourth Amendment.

Trump's attempt to have the federal government take control of our local elections is an unconstitutional usurpation of the legitimate Tenth Amendment authority of the states, our local governments, and the people themselves. 

As if using a heavily-armed, masked, paramilitary, secret police force to physically invade, brutalize, and terrorize targeted states and cities which are governed by Trump's political opponents wasn't enough.

If you don't have a basic understanding of lawful authority in this country, under our Constitution, and how it is rightfully distributed, you're likely to be one of those who has been hornswoggled by this dangerous charlatan in the White House and his wicked minions in the MAGA GOP.

The very existence of our constitutional republic is at stake here, as well as the safety, security, liberty, and lives of our people.

Recognize the danger. It is immediate, and very real. Ask the people of Minnesota.

Educate yourself. 

Arm yourself with the Constitution and the truth.

Band together with those who understand these things and are committed to acting together to save the republic from those who are destroying it.

Don't wait, or it may be too late.

Americans only have a few centers of real power available to them. I’m going to list six, and point out how Trump is directly threatening each of them, and doing so in a very Putinist manner, with very Putinist goals.

1. One of the most essential centers of the people’s power is our right to keep and bear arms. Our founders knew full well that, in the final pass, this is our only real physical security against an out-of-control government. Two days ago, in my home state, we watched as Trump claimed that Alex Pretti, who had just been gunned down for no legitimate reason by federal agents, had no right to bear arms, even though he was carrying lawfully. At the same time we see what is happening in countries like Russia and Iran, where the people are disarmed, and the tyrants have physical control of the streets and the country. The Russians have remained enslaved for generations now, and untold thousands of freedom-loving Iranians are now being slaughtered by their own government.

2. Trump and MAGA are attacking our very right to resist out-of-control government, on the streets of Minneapolis and elsewhere. Their motto, in effect, is: “Comply or Die.” We hear the same morally-vacant threats masquerading as arguments right now on every side. Anyone who is following along with the public debate knows this to be true. Such a slogan is not fit, obviously, for any free, self-respecting people.

3. Donald Trump, Kash Patel, and, strangely, the diabolically Putin-friendly Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, just raided the Fulton County, Georgia elections office. When a president seizes the election apparatus which belongs solely in the hands of local and county governments, the people have lost their only real levers of electoral power. Beware of what Trump and Company intend to do this fall, in the rest of our states and counties. The warnings about this are not fear-mongering. The current danger to the republic is real.

4. Trump is attacking the value of your money, via many means, including his usurpation of the power to tariff, and his continuing devaluation of the dollar. The dollar you had at the beginning of Trump’s first term is now worth one-third less. As our political, economic, and military standing in the world declines as Trump makes war on our friends and coddles our enemies, our situation can only grow worse, especially as long as U.S. government spending under Trump continues to skyrocket by the trillions of debt dollars.

5. Trump and his billionaire oligarch buddies are doing all they can to silence your voice. They are buying up every press organ or prominent web platform in sight, just like Putin did in Russia. They are throttling you on the social networks via their algorithms, and amplifying the voices of the enemies of the republic, including Putin’s bots, trolls, and assets. Their militarized secret police are threatening people on the streets of their own towns and cities, telling them that they can’t speak against or film their violent, illicit, un-American activities.

6. And last, but certainly not least, the most important center of the people’s power that Trump is viciously attacking is our morality. With his constant daily barrage of evil, he is very effectively de-moralizing the people of the United States. He has corrupted the minds and hearts of his followers, and he is setting a wicked example for our young people that this country may never recover from.

But, as long as we are breathing, and God is on His Throne, there is hope. There are a growing number of Americans who are fighting back. They are doing so peacefully, for now, but they are standing up and standing forth in defense of our right to self-protect, self-govern, work and prosper, and to speak and act morally, according to our consciences.

May God greatly increase their numbers, and quickly.

Des Moines, the capital of my home state, is only a couple of hundred miles south of the Minneapolis metropolitan area, which, in recent weeks, has endured being invaded and brutalized by Donald Trump’s murderous militarized secret police force.

Yesterday, Trump visited Des Moines, where he once again paid a call on his loyal base of Republican support. And frankly, as a Christian conservative who once upon a time, long ago, helped lead the Iowa GOP, the whole spectacle made me want to puke.

While ICE, and the Border Patrol, and God only knows how many other militarized federal agencies continue to terrorize our neighbors to the north - along with other states, cities, and towns across the USA - the Trump cult, acting as if everything is business as usual, once again turned out in droves to cheer, and yell, and chant, and fawn over their Deal Leader. They literally wept on his shoulder out of pure delirious joy at his mere presence. I wish I was joking.

And it gets worse. As Trump made his way around the Machine Shed restaurant, he stopped at one table so that they could lay hands on him and pray.

We’ve seen Trump’s seemingly uber-Christian base do this many times through the years. But what exactly does this ritual of the laying on of hands signify, in the Christian context?

Well, the first use of the practice is to pray for the sick. While I know that Trump is sick in the head, this was not that.

Hands are also laid on leaders in this way as a means of conferring authority. This is what many, if not most, Christian sects do, for example, when ordaining a new pastor, or a deacon, or whatever.

So, you can see the significance, I hope, of this being done for Donald Trump. Iowa’s Christians have transferred their spiritual authority to this wicked moral reprobate. They have, again and again, put their spiritual seal of approval on him.

In this case, what is true spiritually is also true in the physical realm. The church’s power has been transferred to Trump, via the electoral process, for more than a decade now. The truth is, he wouldn’t be in the White House without the Christian conservatives. This isn’t even debatable.

And so yesterday, when he stood there and told the adoring crowd that Alex Pretti shouldn’t have been allowed to have a gun, and that Pretti’s murder was nothing more than “an unfortunate incident,” and that tariffs have given the farmers of Iowa lots and lots of money, and talked remarkably like he fully intends to defy the Constitution and run for the presidency again, the GOP nodded, and smiled, and applauded like automatons.

Some can look at this set of circumstances and see quite clearly all the way to the core of the problem.

It’s too bad that more Americans, especially Christians, seemingly cannot.

Judgment begins at the house of God, the scriptures say, and boy, oh, boy, are we seeing that reality play out before our very eyes today.

Trump has sullied our reputation worldwide.

He has purposefully destroyed our alliances.

He has coddled and strengthened our enemies.

He has put sand in the most potent economic engine there has ever been.

He deceives multitudes, blackens the souls of those who follow him, corrupts their consciences, some beyond rescue or repair.

The demons that dwell in his breast seek to destroy anyone who dares oppose him, or refuses to exalt him.

To say that he is the worst president there has ever been is an understatement of gargantuan proportions. He walks in the ranks of the worst, most monstrous men there have ever been. Nero. Caligula. Antiochus IV Epiphanes. Herod. Attila. Mussolini. Hitler. Stalin. Mao. Pol Pot.

I’m not kidding. He is a beast. It is not yet established whether he is THE beast, but he is a beast.

And the strangest, most tragic thing of all, is that he was put in power by those who claim to be the American church.

This is incomprehensible to a Christian like myself.

The only way you can explain it is that it is a spiritual delusion of biblical proportions.

Where and how it will all end God only knows.

"A well regulated Militia, being NECESSARY to the security of a free State, the RIGHT of the people to keep and bear Arms, SHALL NOT be infringed."

Imagine what the men who wrote the Second Amendment would have to say to those who are trying to pretend today that it was okay to execute Alex Pretti because he kept and bore arms while supposedly not having his ID. The very idea is ridiculous. I know full well what they would say, and so do you. They would be outraged, to the point of revolution.

Not that we can believe the Border Patrol that Pretti didn’t have his ID anyway. They rummaged through his clothes after they shot him, and, by force of arms kept anyone else away from the scene, including the local police. They lie constantly, so why would anyone believe that they didn’t carry away Pretti’s identification and CCW card, along with his gun?

But, it doesn’t matter. Whether he had his wallet along or not can’t change the fact that this was nothing but another state-caused, state-sanctioned ICE-cold-blooded murder. Pretti’s weapon is irrelevant. He was exercising his most important God-given, unalienable rights, he was legally carrying, he never brandished his weapon, he never even touched his weapon, and his weapon had been stripped from its holster and removed by a BP agent before they filled him full of holes.

“The power of the sword is in the hands of Congress? My friends and countrymen, it is not so; for the powers of the sword are in the hands of the yeomanry of America from sixteen to sixty. The Militia of these free commonwealths, entitled and accustomed to their arms, when compared with any possible army, must be tremendous and irresistible. Who are the Militia? Truth be told, without firearms there would be no United States of America.

There wouldn’t have been a Jamestown or a Plymouth.

There could not have been any colonies established in Virginia, or Massachusetts, or anywhere else.

Without guns you would probably be a feudal slave in Europe, or a tribal slave in Africa, or the slave of some Asian despot or other. If your family hadn’t been erased long ago.

I thank God for guns, and those who are willing to wield them, when necessary, in defense of Life, Liberty, and their own people.

because he preached good vibes and personal growth.

You don’t get to quote scripture like a lullaby
while injustice stays wide awake.
You don’t get to ask God to “heal the land”
if you won’t even look at the wound.

There is a kind of peace that only exists
because it refuses to tell the truth.
That peace is a lie.
And lies don’t grow anything worth saving.

The scriptures you love weren’t written to keep things calm. They were written to set things right.

And sometimes the most faithful thing you can do
is stop praying around the pain and start standing inside it.

We are now well past the 10,000 mark on this account, between subscribers and followers. More flow in each day. We are doing all we can to keep you all as informed as possible, and to reach out to more of our fellow Americans.

I'm not a Democrat. Because of abortion and other important things, that can not possibly be.

But, I am part of the opposition to Donald Trump, which has created some rather strange circumstances of late for me personally.

I haven't moved philosophically or politically. I'm still standing in the same place I've been standing for more than three decades in politics. It is the political world that has morphed around me.

The Republican Party, a party I once helped lead, once upon a time stood for the Constitution. Now their president and his agents trash it with abandon, on the streets of Minnesota, in other states, and in Washington, DC.

Just this week, courtesy of a whistleblower, we have seen internal Trump administration documents which direct their ICE field soldiers to completely ignore what the U.S. Constitution requires, to swap the judicial warrants required explicitly by the Fourth Amendment for mere “administrative” fake “warrants,” signed by ICE officials.

This document was not widely circulated, for obvious reasons, even within their own ranks. According to the whistleblower, the order was primarily passed along verbally. Which makes perfect sense, since we have watched again and again as ICE has forcibly entered homes without judicial warrants. It’s obviously their policy. You have to be purposefully blind not to see it.

This week the Vice-President, J.D. Vance, not only admitted this is happening, he put his stamp of approval on it. I’ve seen the video.

I have spent decades advocating in the public sphere for secure borders and the protection of our national sovereignty and security. I still believe in those things, consider them to be vital to our national survival, and support them.

However, I did not sign up to sacrifice mercy, decency, concern for my fellow human beings and their welfare, my conscience, the rule of law, or the Constitution in order to pursue them.

I did not take up this cause in order to establish some sort of illicit federal power that creates a gestapo made up of heavily armed, aggressive, masked men - secret police - who won’t identify themselves, who break down doors without warrants and point guns at women and children, and viciously assault or kill people who dare defy them, and whisk people away to unknown locations, including overseas.

Nope.

Never.

Not in a million years.

Because, someday I’m going to have to stand before the Lord and explain what I did, and what I gave my support to.

Yesterday, we watched the spectacle of Jack Smith testifying to a House committee concerning his open-and-shut, proven-beyond-a-reasonable-doubt, case against Donald Trump’s criminal, violent attempt to steal the 2020 election.

In the committee, Democrats clearly stood for the Constitution and the rule of law as concerns this case, just as they did during Trump’s first two impeachment trials.

Republicans, on the other hand, did everything they could to continue to obfuscate for this criminal president, while never even coming up with a single real argument that would contradict the shameful facts about Trump that Smith laid so plainly on the table.

Right is right.

Wrong is wrong.

Perhaps it is time for Americans to stop looking so much at the differences between Right and Left, or between Republicans and Democrats, and to focus like a laser beam on the simple difference between right and wrong.

You might want to hurry up though, America, because at the moment the republic is on life support. Minnesota is bleeding, and the open wound is spreading across the country, to state after state.

And there is plenty of culpability to go around, across the political spectrum. We all have to bear our share of the blame, just as we and our posterity will all eat of the fruit of what we allow to happen in politics and our government.

Whether it’s Trump, or Minnesota, or Greenland, or Ukraine, or Iran, or a whole lot of other very important things, we try to keep our readers and subscribers fully informed. In fact, in certain key areas, our people are the most well-informed group in America.

This past week has been a whirlwind for me and this account. I’ve gained thousands of subscribers and followers on this platform, for which I’m grateful.

But it’s primarily been because of my copious reporting on the awful events that have taken place in Minnesota this past week, with the president of the United States turning his violent private paramilitary secret police loose on my neighbors to the north.

I continue to report on a number of other important things as well, but, let’s face it, the darkness is growing in this world.

I say all of this to get make a point:

As dark as it is, the light will always overcome the darkness in the end.

I John 1:5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Anyhow, my name is on this account, and I want to make it very clear that I’m not all about the darkness. I have a beautiful family that I love very much, and many great friends, and there is still much love and beauty in this dark old world, if we simply look for it. And, this is still a great country, in spite of those who are trying to tear it down.

So, what I’m going to do is, in between the news, I’m going to start to share a little personal stuff here, mainly on Notes…some family photos, a bit of my old poetry that I wrote over the years, and perhaps some of my favorite music. Let me know if you like it, or not. Be blessed.

My awesome children:

1. There was no legitimate reason for ICE thugs to invade Minnesota.

2. There was no legitimate reason for ICE to be blocking a Minneapolis street.

3. There was no legitimate reason for ICE to aggressively approach Renee Good’s car while cursing and giving her conflicting commands.

4. There was no legitimate reason for ICE agent Jonathan Ross to draw his weapon and aim it at Renee Good’s face.

5. There was no legitimate reason for Jonathan Ross to pull the trigger and pour three rounds into Renee Good’s head.

6. There is no legitimate reason for Ross and his fellow agents to fail to give medical assistance to Renee Good, whom they had just shot.

7. There was no legitimate reason for ICE agents to refuse to allow a doctor who was on scene to offer medical assistance to Renee Good as her life blood poured out into her car.

8. There was no legitimate reason to prevent EMTs and an ambulance from getting anywhere near the car of Renee Good, whom they had just shot.

9. There was no legitimate reason to make EMTs carry Renee Good’s body a block up the street to a place they could administer CPR and load her into the ambulance.

10. There was no legitimate reason for ICE to assist the shooter, Jonathan Ross, in fleeing the scene after he had strolled casually up the street to examine his handiwork.

11. There was no legitimate reason for ICE to completely spoil the scene of this homicide and destroy all evidence on scene.

12. There was no legitimate reason for ICE to completely block the appropriate local and state authorities from investigating a homicide that had been committed within their jurisdiction.

13. There was no legitimate reason for top ICE, Homeland Security, Department of Justice, and White House officials, up to and including the President and Vice-President of the United States, to immediately lie egregiously about what had happened on the streets of Minneapolis, to then order a complete coverup of the crime, and thereafter do all they could to keep any local, state, and federal investigations from occurring.

14. There is no legitimate reason for Trump supporters to continue to lie brazenly about this whole atrocity, one which would have never happened except for the fact that the President of the United States wanted to use his personal army of thugs to punish his political adversaries and the entire state of Minnesota.

15. There is no legitimate reason that the citizens of the United States should simply let all of the foregoing slide, or act as if it never happened.

My wise son Elijah pointed out this evening that with the federal government spiraling out of control, state and local officials, and the people themselves, may well need to revive the part of the Second Amendment that has been left lying fallow for too long, and that is the idea of the militia. He rightly says that the amendment has been “half-dead” since they reinterpreted what the militia is more than a century ago.

The right to keep and bear arms is not just about some guy keeping his house safe. It’s about whole communities, as a body, taking responsibility for their own security and freedom.

If the feds won’t do their duty to keep us safe and free, We the People will have no choice but to take matters into our own hands, together, as the citizens of the states, and cities, and towns, in which we live.

There is power in numbers. As Ben Franklin said, “we must either hang together, or we will most certainly hang separately.”

I know that lots of people don’t want to hear this, but the only other alternative is to become a nation of powerless slaves.

Speaking for me and mine, we’re not about to let that happen.

“Experience has already shown that the impeachment the Constitution has provided is not even a scarecrow.” - Thomas Jefferson, 1819

Jefferson was incredibly prescient on a number of important things. This is one of them.

I’m completely disgusted by the utter failure of any and all checks and balances on the executive branch in our time. The congress and the courts have both proven to be worse than useless when it comes to reining in the dangerous moral degenerate who is currently in the White House, as we all know.

But I’m also disgusted with the local authorities, who, under our federal system, are, or should be, the penultimate check on the federal government, and the ultimate protector of the people. Beyond them, the only wall of protection is the people themselves.

I know it is hard for the locals to stand up against the immense power of the federal government, but they have to, if we want to remain a free people.

In Minnesota, as Trump’s paramilitary secret police brutalize the people of Minneapolis and environs. the local police seem to be practically nowhere to be found.

So far, it also doesn’t look like they’ve found a way to investigate, much less prosecute, the man who shot Renee Good to death last week; in my opinion for no good reason.

In red states like Texas, local law enforcement officers and officials are, I’m hearing, colluding with ICE rather than protecting their own people.

To hide from evil is one thing, but to cooperate with it is something else entirely.

Here’s my main point: As a citizen, you have a much better chance of doing something to stop this nonsense closer to home, in your town and county, than you do in Washington, DC.

Folks, it’s time to make some mighty waves, locally, before it’s too late, and our freedom and security have become a thing of the past. These people, after all, work for you.
