This is Part One of Truth Above Tribe, a three-part series examining what happens when political loyalty collides with Christian allegiance.

In Part One, When the Cross Meets the Flag, we ask whether the pursuit of political power can become an idol—and where Christian influence ends and Christian nationalism begins.

Part Two, What If My Side Is Wrong?, turns the examination inward: Do we love truth enough to recognize it when it hurts our own political tribe?

Part Three, Who Gets to Define “Misinformation”?, tackles the next question: In an age of government power, Big Tech, media distrust, and artificial intelligence, who should have the authority to police truth?

These aren’t arguments for political disengagement. They’re an invitation to something harder:

Think biblically. Test everything. Refuse political idolatry. Tell the truth even when it costs your side.

Christ above country.
Truth above tribe.
Scripture above political power.

And Part One begins where every Christian political conversation should begin:

Who has our highest allegiance?

There is a conversation happening inside American Christianity that we cannot afford to avoid.

It involves God.

Country.

Politics.

Power.

The Church.

And the increasingly common phrase:

Christian nationalism.

Before I go any further, I want to make my own position unmistakably clear.

I am a Christian.

I love my country.

I believe Christians should participate in government.

I believe Christians should vote according to conscience.

I believe Christians should speak biblical truth publicly, even when that truth becomes culturally unpopular.

I believe Christians have every right to advocate policies informed by their faith.

But I am not a Christian nationalist.

And my opposition to Christian nationalism does not come from believing Christianity should become weaker.

It comes from believing Christianity is far too important to be reduced to a political identity.

There is a difference between wanting Christianity to influence America and wanting political power to establish Christian supremacy.

There is a difference between Christian citizenship and Christian nationalism.

And Christians need to understand it.

1. First, Define What We’re Talking About

This is important because Christian nationalist has become an accusation people sometimes throw at practically any conservative Christian.

That is sloppy.

Voting Republican doesn’t make somebody a Christian nationalist.

Opposing abortion doesn’t make somebody a Christian nationalist.

Supporting traditional marriage doesn’t make somebody a Christian nationalist.

Wanting prayer in public life doesn’t automatically make somebody a Christian nationalist.

Believing America’s history was profoundly influenced by Christianity doesn’t make somebody a Christian nationalist.

Even the people studying this phenomenon use different definitions and measurements.

Pew’s 2026 research demonstrates why precision matters. Only 17% of Americans said Christianity should become the country’s official religion, while a much larger 43% said government should promote Christian moral values without establishing Christianity as the official religion.

Those positions should not simply be collapsed into one another.

For this article, when I say Christian nationalism, I mean a political ideology that fuses Christian identity with American national identity in a way that seeks a privileged, established, or dominant political position for Christianity through the power of the state.

That is something different from Christians influencing society through persuasion, evangelism, voting, service and participation in government.

And it is that difference I want to examine.

2. America Is Not Israel

One of the most important distinctions Christians can make is also one of the simplest:

America is not biblical Israel.

Ancient Israel occupied a unique covenant relationship with God.

Its religious, civil and national identities were intertwined in ways specifically established within that covenant.

The United States has no such biblical covenant.

There is no New Testament passage declaring America God’s replacement Israel.

There is no apostle announcing a future American republic as God’s chosen nation.

There is no American flag in the Great Commission.

That doesn’t mean God doesn’t care about America.

Of course He does.

God cares about Americans because God cares about people.

But Christians must be extraordinarily careful about taking promises made within particular biblical covenants and simply transferring them onto the United States.

America can be blessed.

America can be judged.

America can repent.

America can pursue justice.

But America is not the Kingdom of God.

3. The Kingdom Has No American Border

Jesus said:

“My kingdom is not of this world...”
— John 18:36 KJV

That verse does not mean Christians should abandon politics.

It means Christ’s Kingdom cannot be reduced to earthly political sovereignty.

The Church crosses every border.

American Christians belong to the same Body of Christ as Christians in Nigeria, China, Iran, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, Israel, Canada and everywhere else the Gospel has reached.

Revelation gives us the picture:

“...a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues...”
— Revelation 7:9 KJV

That is our eternal nation.

Christ’s Kingdom isn’t red.

It isn’t blue.

And it isn’t red, white and blue.

4. Patriotism Is Not the Problem

I don’t believe Christians need to apologize for loving America.

Patriotism can be virtuous.

You can appreciate the sacrifices that built your country.

You can honor military service.

You can cherish constitutional liberty.

You can celebrate Independence Day.

You can pray for your nation.

You can want America to prosper.

None of that requires worshiping America.

The problem begins when patriotism becomes idolatry.

The flag is worthy of respect.

The cross is worthy of worship.

Those are not interchangeable categories.

When America’s interests conflict with Christ’s commands, Christians don’t get to deliberate over which one receives priority.

Jesus does.

Every time.

5. Christians Absolutely Belong in Politics

Rejecting Christian nationalism cannot mean demanding that Christians leave their Christianity at home before entering a voting booth.

Nobody approaches politics without moral assumptions.

Christians shouldn’t be expected to pretend theirs don’t exist.

William Wilberforce’s Christianity influenced his opposition to the slave trade.

Christians participated prominently in abolitionism.

Christian conviction influenced parts of the American civil-rights movement.

Christians today can advocate for unborn children, religious liberty, families, criminal-justice reform, care for the poor, opposition to trafficking and any number of other issues precisely because their faith shapes their moral reasoning.

That’s not theocracy.

That’s citizenship.

The question isn’t:

Should Christians influence government?

Of course they should.

The question is:

What authority should government possess over religion, and should Christianity require political supremacy to accomplish Christ’s mission?

Those are different questions.

6. The Great Commission Was Not “Capture Caesar”

Jesus gave His followers a mission:

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations...”
— Matthew 28:19 KJV

Notice what He didn’t say.

Capture Rome.

Control Caesar.

Acquire enough political authority to compel Christianity.

Jesus told Christians to make disciples.

And the early Church did something extraordinary.

Without controlling the Senate...

without controlling the emperor...

without controlling the Roman legions...

Christianity spread.

Why?

Because the Gospel doesn’t require government sponsorship to possess power.

Paul said:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation...”
— Romans 1:16 KJV

The power is in the Gospel.

Not Washington.

Something is happening inside the FBI’s public record.

Over the course of August, the FBI Vault has been populated with records spanning wildly different periods of American history:

Robert F. Kennedy.

George Sylvester Viereck.

The Library Awareness Program.

The Jamison family murders and disappearance.

Women for America First.

Turning Point USA.

Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Patriot Front.

Jeffrey Epstein.

Virginia Giuffre.

FBI internal communications policy.

And another massive installment of the Special Counsel Mueller investigative records.

At first glance, these files look almost random.

A murdered family in Oklahoma has nothing obvious to do with Carter Page.

A World War II-era German propagandist does not belong to the same investigation as January 6.

Robert F. Kennedy’s FBI files do not establish a connection to Crossfire Hurricane.

And an FBI Cold War program involving libraries certainly does not prove some continuous operation stretching across generations.

That is not the case being made here.

The connection is something larger:

the institution itself.

The FBI is opening historical windows into the same categories of power Congress is examining today:

surveillance;

foreign influence;

political investigations;

domestic intelligence;

information collection;

confidential sources;

communications records;

federal investigative predicates;

headquarters supervision;

and the line separating legitimate national-security investigation from government overreach.

That is why these files deserve to be read together.

Not because the subjects are necessarily connected.

Because the methods can be compared.

That creates an immediate investigative question:

What mechanism put each of these files into the public record?

Was it:

FOIA?

A congressional request?

A subpoena?

Presidential declassification?

A court action?

A proactive FBI disclosure?

Or a discretionary FBI decision?

Those distinctions matter enormously.

Because Washington is simultaneously undergoing a massive document-production and declassification campaign involving the FBI, DOJ, intelligence community and Congress.

And that campaign is not theoretical.

It is documented.

ROBERT F. KENNEDY: POLITICAL FIGURES AND THE FEDERAL INTELLIGENCE FOOTPRINT

The FBI Vault now contains a substantial Robert F. Kennedy collection extending through Robert F. Kennedy Part 14 — Final, along with a separate three-part RFK assassination collection.

This material should not be presented as another Carter Page case.

The legal authorities, historical circumstances and investigative purposes were different.

But RFK belongs in the same comparative surveillance and political-intelligence lane.

Why?

Because it allows us to examine what the federal investigative footprint around a major political figure looked like in another era.

That is incredibly useful when Congress is currently asking questions about the FBI’s handling of political figures and constitutionally protected activity.

The relevant questions are not:

“Was RFK secretly Carter Page?”

Obviously not.

The useful questions are:

What caused FBI records to be created?

What was collected?

What was retained?

Which field offices generated material?

What reached FBI headquarters?

What political activity was recorded?

What relationships or organizations drew Bureau attention?

What was considered legitimate investigative intelligence?

What remained in federal files decades later?

That is how historical files become a comparison set.

And Carter Page gives us a modern benchmark against which that historical investigative footprint can be measured.

THEN THERE IS THE LIBRARY AWARENESS PROGRAM

On August 28, the FBI Vault officially listed:

Library Awareness Program — Final.

That release belongs directly in this story.

The Library Awareness Program involved FBI counterintelligence concerns that foreign intelligence services could exploit American libraries to obtain scientific, technical and other useful information.

Think about the underlying institutional question.

The FBI believed there was a legitimate foreign-intelligence threat.

But responding to that threat inevitably raised another question:

How far should the government go in monitoring access to information inside the United States?

That is not an obsolete argument.

It is the same tension underneath the current congressional debate over FISA.

Congress renewed debate over Section 702 again this year. Grassley argued in June 2026 that the authority remains vital to protecting Americans from foreign threats.

Both statements can be true simultaneously:

Foreign intelligence threats are real.

And surveillance authorities can be misused or improperly administered.

That is precisely why the Library Awareness Program is relevant.

It gives us another historical example of the FBI trying to solve the same institutional equation:

foreign threat + domestic information environment + investigative authority + civil liberties.

AND THEN THE FBI RELEASED GEORGE VIERECK

One day before the Library Awareness Program release, the FBI’s August 27 Vault update included:

George Viereck Part 01

and

George Viereck Part 02 — Final.

George Sylvester Viereck belongs in another critical lane:

Foreign propaganda entering America’s domestic political system.

Viereck was associated with German propaganda efforts in the United States.

That immediately raises a problem the FBI and Congress still confront:

How does the United States distinguish legitimate American political speech from messaging that is being directed, financed or manipulated by a foreign power?

That question eventually touches:

foreign-agent registration;

propaganda;

political intermediaries;

media;

Congress;

money;

and foreign influence.

And now place Viereck beside the Library Awareness Program.

The symmetry is extraordinary.

One file concerns the problem of foreign information influencing America.

The other concerns foreign intelligence extracting information from America.

Information coming in.

Information going out.

Propaganda.

Intelligence collection.

Counterintelligence.

And standing between the foreign actor and the American public:

the FBI.

THERE IS ALSO A STRIKING “LIBRARY” PARALLEL

Historical German influence operations associated with Viereck involved something called the German Library of Information.

Decades later, the FBI operated something called the Library Awareness Program.

Those entities were not the same thing.

They were separated by decades and entirely different circumstances.

The names should not be used to manufacture an operational connection.

But the thematic parallel is worth recognizing.

In one era, a foreign-government-linked information apparatus was designed to influence what Americans thought.

In another, the FBI was concerned that foreign intelligence could exploit American institutions designed to provide information.

The recurring battlefield was not a military installation.

It was information itself.

And today Congress is again dealing with questions involving foreign influence, political narratives, intelligence collection, government surveillance and the movement of information between law enforcement, political actors and the media.

That makes these files exceptionally relevant historical case studies.

NOW LOOK AT MUELLER

The FBI Vault currently contains Special Counsel Mueller Investigation Records Part 56, a roughly 108 MB file.

The broader Mueller collection now contains dozens of separately released parts.

This is no longer simply about relitigating whether Russia interfered in the 2016 election.

The important question is increasingly about how the FBI responded to foreign-interference allegations.

Because the government is now declassifying additional pieces of the architecture surrounding Crossfire Hurricane.

Earlier this month, another remarkable piece surfaced:

OXFERD COMMA.

The White House released newly declassified FBI records concerning the investigation opened after President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey.

The records show investigators examined whether Trump’s firing of Comey could be connected to Russia. The case was eventually closed in April 2019.

Regardless of political interpretation, the records themselves give researchers another window into how politically explosive intelligence investigations were opened, compartmented and eventually closed.

And now additional Mueller records are sitting beside them.

That is precisely why the Vault matters.

We can compare the records instead of relying exclusively on retrospective narratives.

ARCTIC FROST MAKES THIS A CURRENT STORY

This is not merely historical research.

Congress is investigating another FBI-originated politically sensitive case right now:

Arctic Frost.

The Senate Judiciary Committee now maintains an entire public Arctic Frost archive containing congressional letters, FBI/DOJ productions, whistleblower disclosures and subpoena records.

The timeline is significant.

On March 24, 2026, Grassley released additional Arctic Frost records, including subpoenas involving the telephone records of Kash Patel, who is now FBI Director.

On April 21, Grassley released records concerning another FBI case code-named Operation Rampart Twelve, in which the committee says investigators obtained phone toll records associated with Republican members of Congress. According to the committee, FBI headquarters ultimately closed the investigation after credible evidence supporting the matter was not developed.

Then came July 14.

Grassley and Senator Ron Johnson released records indicating Jack Smith’s investigative team obtained and reviewed text messages involving 44 members of Congress. The committee says investigators bypassed a required filter-team process, raising constitutional and procedural concerns.

And the Arctic Frost archive currently lists an August 3 invitation for Jack Smith to testify before Senate Judiciary.

This is happening right now.

So when historical FBI files concerning political surveillance, foreign influence, information collection and institutional monitoring suddenly become publicly accessible, they have immediate comparative value.

CONGRESS IS FOLLOWING A MUCH BIGGER ARCHITECTURE

Grassley gave us another clue in May.

He publicly listed multiple investigations and disclosure fights his office has been pursuing:

Crossfire Hurricane.

Arctic Frost.

Plasmic Echo.

Round River.

The Clinton Foundation.

Rampart Twelve.

The Biden family investigation.

The Clinton Annex.

The Durham Annex.

And the 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment.

That list matters.

Congress is not investigating one FBI decision.

It is examining a pattern of institutional decision-making across separate cases.

Which brings us back to these historical Vault releases.

They offer the public an opportunity to do something similar.

WHAT ABOUT THE JAMISON FAMILY?

This is where the article needs discipline.

On August 27, the FBI released:

Jamison Family Murders and Disappearance — Final.

The Jamison family disappeared in Oklahoma in 2009; their remains were later found.

That case clearly does not belong in Crossfire Hurricane.

There is no evidence linking the Jamison family to Carter Page, Mueller, Arctic Frost, Viereck or RFK.

But the file may serve another very important research purpose.

It is a control case.

Ask a simple question:

What does an FBI investigative file look like when the underlying matter does not involve presidential politics?

That gives researchers something against which politically sensitive FBI investigations can be compared.

Look for:

the federal predicate;

field-office involvement;

headquarters involvement;

database searches;

interagency requests;

information-sharing procedures;

lead assignments;

source handling;

closing memoranda;

redaction patterns;

and the reason federal resources were used.

That comparison is potentially extremely valuable.

Because if we want to determine what is unusual about Carter Page, Arctic Frost or another politically sensitive case, we need to know what normal FBI case architecture looks like.

The Jamison file may help answer that.

So I would not place Jamison in the Carter Page lane.

I would place it beside Carter Page as a comparison lane.

That is a much stronger methodology.

AND THAT CHANGES HOW WE SHOULD READ THE RFK FILES

RFK sits between those categories.

Unlike Jamison, Robert Kennedy was an enormously consequential political figure.

Unlike Carter Page, however, RFK was not subjected to the same documented FISA process at issue in Crossfire Hurricane.

So RFK provides another comparison:

What did federal monitoring of a major American political figure look like before modern FISA architecture?

That is potentially fascinating.

Carter Page gives us:

political campaign association;

foreign contacts;

FISA;

confidential-source information;

FBI headquarters;

DOJ;

foreign-intelligence surveillance;

and judicial oversight.

RFK gives us an earlier political-intelligence environment.

The Library Awareness Program gives us counterintelligence surveillance of information access.

Viereck gives us foreign propaganda.

Jamison gives us a nonpolitical investigative control.

Arctic Frost gives us a current politically sensitive criminal investigation involving presidential politics and congressional records.

Now we actually have analytical lanes.

THE RELEASE PATTERN BECOMES MUCH MORE INTERESTING

Look again at August.

August 7

Additional records concerning the FBI’s review of its Jeffrey Epstein investigative holdings were released.

August 10–11

Virginia Giuffre.

Women for America First.

TurningPoint USA.

Thomas Crooks.

Patriot Front.

August 19

The FBI released its internal Public Affairs Policy Guide: Media Relations, External Communications, and Personal Use of Social Media.

That file matters tremendously when Congress is investigating information flow between investigators, political actors and the public.

August 27

George Viereck.

Jamison Family Murders and Disappearance.

August 28

Library Awareness Program.

Richard Feynman.

Julius Hobson and additional historical files.

And sitting in the current Vault inventory:

Special Counsel Mueller Investigation Records Part 56.

Different subjects.

Different eras.

But an extraordinary amount of source material concerning the FBI’s historical interaction with:

politics;

information;

foreign influence;

domestic organizations;

surveillance;

public figures;

national security;

and investigative discretion.

THE EPSTEIN FILES CREATE ANOTHER IMPORTANT CATEGORY

The Epstein records deserve their own lane.

The FBI released Parts 7 and 8 of records specifically described as:

Records regarding the review of the Investigative Holdings related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Read that wording carefully.

These aren’t merely old investigative documents.

They concern a review of what the FBI possessed.

That introduces another institutional question:

What happens after information enters the FBI?

Who sees it?

How is it indexed?

How is it disseminated?

Does headquarters review it?

Is it referred elsewhere?

Is it closed?

Is it retained?

Is it rediscovered years later?

That same question matters in nearly every politically sensitive investigation Congress is examining.

Not merely:

What did the FBI know?

But:

What did the FBI do with what it knew?

EVEN THE FBI’S INTERNAL DATABASE IS SHOWING UP

There is another August release that should not be ignored.

On August 6, the Vault listed:

Automated Case Support (ACS) System Part 05.

That may turn out to be one of the most useful releases for researchers trying to understand the machinery.

ACS historically formed part of the FBI’s case-record infrastructure.

That means while the public is getting individual case files, it is also getting records concerning the systems used to organize information.

That is important.

Because the eventual investigative target is not merely the people named in these files.

It is the architecture behind the files.

THIS IS WHERE THE CONNECTION ACTUALLY IS

The strongest case is not:

“All these people were connected.”

The public evidence does not establish that.

The stronger question is:

What do all these files tell us about how federal investigative power operates?

Viereck:

How does the FBI deal with foreign propaganda?

Library Awareness:

How does it respond to foreign exploitation of information systems?

RFK:

How does the Bureau interact with a major political figure?

Carter Page:

What happens when FBI intelligence collection intersects a presidential campaign and FISA?

Crossfire/Mueller:

How does a foreign-influence investigation grow into a Special Counsel investigation?

Arctic Frost:

How does an FBI-originated case ultimately reach congressional communications and hundreds of political targets?

Jamison:

What does a nonpolitical federal investigative footprint look like by comparison?

Epstein:

How does the Bureau manage consequential information already inside its possession?

ACS:

How is investigative information organized internally?

Public Affairs Policy:

How is information allowed to move outside the Bureau?

Now the pattern becomes visible.

It is not one case.

It is an institutional anatomy lesson.

AND THAT IS WHY CARTER PAGE MATTERS SO MUCH

Carter Page gives us something incredibly valuable:

a case where an independent DOJ Inspector General already reconstructed the process.

We know:

information was collected;

a FISA application was prepared;

renewals occurred;

information was omitted;

information affecting the strength of probable cause was not properly presented;

and the Inspector General identified serious failures in the Woods accuracy process.

That creates a documented standard against which other FBI cases can be examined.

Not to assume wrongdoing.

To test procedure.

Was contradictory information recorded?

Was it escalated?

Was it disclosed?

Was it compartmented?

Did headquarters know?

Did prosecutors know?

Did courts know?

Did Congress know?

Those are evidence questions.

And now we are receiving more raw material with which to ask them.

THE TIMING CANNOT PROVE MOTIVE—BUT IT CAN ESTABLISH RELEVANCE

This distinction is critical.

There is currently no public memorandum saying:

Release Viereck, RFK, Jamison, Library Awareness, Mueller, Epstein and the political-organization files because Congress is investigating the FBI.

We should not claim one exists.

But the surrounding disclosure campaign is absolutely documented.

President Trump ordered Crossfire Hurricane material declassified.

The Durham annex was subsequently declassified.

Additional Crossfire-related material is continuing to emerge.

Congress is obtaining thousands of pages through whistleblowers and government productions.

Congress is actively investigating Arctic Frost.

Congress has released Operation Rampart Twelve records.

Congress has examined subpoenas involving lawmakers’ communications.

Congress has invited Jack Smith to testify.

Congress is again debating FISA.

And the FBI has explicitly positioned its Vault around proactive and discretionary transparency.

So we cannot prove why every individual historical file was selected.

But we can absolutely establish why those files are relevant now.

THE REAL STORY MAY BE IN THE METADATA

The next phase should not be headline hunting.

It should be extraction.

Every one of these FBI files should be entered into the same matrix.

Track:

Release date

Original investigation date

Case number

FBI field office

FBI headquarters unit

Investigative predicate

Statutory authority

Foreign-intelligence component

Confidential human sources

Surveillance method

DOJ involvement

CIA/NSA/other agency involvement

Congressional contact

Media contact

Political organization references

Closing reason

FOIA exemptions

Classification markings

Dissemination markings

Release mechanism

Then compare them.

That is where apparently unrelated files become useful.

Not because the people necessarily knew one another.

Because the paperwork tells us how the machinery works.

FOLLOW THE INFORMATION

There is a common denominator running through these files that is even more important than politics.

Information.

Who collects it?

Who creates it?

Who controls it?

Who disseminates it?

Who surveils it?

Who receives it?

Who verifies it?

Who withholds it?

Who leaks it?

Who classifies it?

Who declassifies it?

Who tells Congress?

Who tells the court?

Who tells the American people?

Viereck was about information as propaganda.

Library Awareness was about information as intelligence.

RFK is partly about information surrounding political power.

Carter Page was about information used to justify surveillance.

Crossfire Hurricane was about foreign-influence information being converted into an FBI investigation.

Arctic Frost is now partly about information collected from political actors and Congress.

Epstein is about information already held by the government.

And the Public Affairs Policy Guide governs information leaving the FBI.

That is a remarkably coherent institutional theme.

SO WHY ARE WE SEEING THESE FILES NOW?

We still cannot conclusively answer that.

But we now know what to watch.

If subsequent Vault releases continue falling into the same lanes—

foreign influence;

propaganda;

surveillance;

political organizations;

media;

intelligence collection;

government monitoring;

congressional activity;

FISA;

confidential sources;

and politically sensitive investigations—

then the release sequence itself becomes data.

And Congress is giving us another timeline against which to compare it.

That is where this investigation goes next.

Not:

“Are all these cases connected?”

But:

Two people wake up in the same country on the same morning. One opens their phone and the world is ending. The other opens theirs and everything is fine. Same day. Same facts on the ground. Two completely different realities; each one built, post by post, by a machine that studied them in the dark.

That machine has a job. And its job is not to tell you the truth. Its job is to keep you there. Captured attention.

Understand how it actually works, because the mechanism is the whole story. The feed doesn’t rank what’s true or good or important. It ranks what holds your attention; what makes you stop, react, and stay. Every scroll teaches it a little more about which buttons keep your thumb moving. Then it presses those buttons, all day, forever.

And here’s what it learned: nothing holds attention like emotion. Outrage. Fear. The clip that makes your blood boil. And it turns out the truth is at a permanent disadvantage in that contest because the truth is constrained by reality, and a lie is not. A lie can be as shocking, as novel, as perfectly enraging as it needs to be.

The largest study ever done on this proved it cold. MIT researchers tracked 126,000 news stories spread across Twitter over eleven years.

Falsehoods were 70% more likely to be shared than the truth, and false stories reached people six times faster.

And the most important finding of all: it wasn’t bots doing it. It was people. Human beings, sharing the novel and the shocking faster than they ever shared the true because passing along surprising information makes us feel like we’re in the know.

Sit with that. The machine didn’t have to force anything. It just learned what we already do and poured gasoline on it.

Now follow it one step further, because this is where it stops being about clicks and starts being about control. If the feed profits from your emotion, then it profits from your despair exactly as much as your rage.

A furious person stays scrolling. So does a hopeless one. And a hopeless person; convinced it’s all rigged, all lost, no use standing up, is the easiest person on earth to rule. Demoralization isn’t a side effect of the feed. For anyone who wants you passive, it’s the product.

This is spiritual before it’s technological.

Scripture named the battlefield two thousand years before the smartphone:

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” Romans 12:2

Your mind is being renewed every single day… the only question is by whom. The algorithm is renewing it in one direction. You have to decide to renew it in another.

So here is how you take the gate back.

Notice the feeling first.

When a post makes you furious or hopeless, that reaction is the product being extracted from you. Strong emotion is not evidence that something is true. It’s evidence that something was engineered to move you. Feel the pull and then pause.

Go to the source.

Click through. Read the actual document, watch the full clip, and find the real study; not the screenshot of the headline about it. The feed is betting you’ll react to the framing and never check the thing itself. Prove it wrong.

Widen your inputs on purpose.

Search the same topic two different ways. Read someone you usually skip. A single feed is a single hand on your mind, make it compete.

Check before you share.

You are not a bystander to this; you are a link in the chain. Falsehood cannot travel without hands to carry it. Yours can refuse.

Practice the fast.

Put the phone down. Sit in silence. Discernment doesn’t grow in the scroll; it grows in the quiet, and you cannot hear the still, small voice over an infinite feed.

“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free” John 8:32

Free. Not conformed, not farmed, not steered. The watchman’s first duty was always to guard the gate. Today the gate is your own attention. Stand there. Decide what gets in.

While this dispatch was going out, a post came racing across my feed:

“🚨 HOLY CRAP! X just revealed 200,000 Chinese bot accounts many of them posing as Americans to shape AI and energy policy!”

And here’s the test. The core is real: X’s safety team did announce it, and it’s a genuine, serious find.

But go to the source: X posted it publicly and the numbers sharpen. X described a farm of roughly 200,000 suspected inauthentic accounts, and within it, 200 posting to manipulate the AI-and-energy debate.

Two hundred.

Not “many” of two hundred thousand.

See what happened?

A true story got one quiet upgrade, the precise number traded for the bigger one, on its way to your thumb. That’s not a reason to dismiss it. It’s a reason to read it right, then share it right. The truth here is strong enough. It doesn’t need inflating.

A Sunday Night

It happened the way everything happens now. Not in a filed memo. Not in a meeting room at LaGuardia Airport with a chairman and a consultant and typed minutes that would sit in an archive for forty years before anyone found them.

It happened on a phone.

Sunday evening, July 19, 2026. President Donald Trump opened Truth Social and posted directly to the country:

“The National Academy of Sciences has historically published analytical Scientific Manuals expressly for our Federal Judiciary. Of course, the Academy has been run by Radical Left Dumocrats who, it turns out, published fraudulent, biased, and misleading Manuals on Climate Change. These bogus Manuals were used by Judges to decide massive ‘Climate Change’ Cases, and have created huge losses across our Country. These Manuals have been totally DISCREDITED.”

He wasn’t finished. “Our Nation’s Federal Judges deserve Facts and Science, not Political Fraud and False Science on Climate. With this TRUTH, I hereby order Federal Suspension and Debarment Officials to review this conduct. Our Taxpayers should not be funding Climate Fraud, and Judges should never have relied upon it.”

By Monday morning it was everywhere. Gateway Pundit, Mediaite. Courthouse News. Nobody, including the reporters covering it in real time, could say for certain what had actually been ordered, by whom, or under what legal authority.

The White House did not respond to requests for comment. It didn’t need to. The post itself was the entire event.

What most coverage missed in the first news cycle is that Trump’s post was not the beginning of this story.

It was the amplification of a fight that had already been fought, and largely settled, five months earlier; by other elected officials, through a formal process, with a documented outcome.

The President of the United States simply looked directly into a phone camera’s worth of America and said the word fraud about a scientific body that has advised the federal judiciary for decades and it was Tuesday’s news cycle by the time most people saw it.

One voice is easy to silence. A choir is not.

When this publication began, it was one watchman on one wall. Sit with why that’s true, because Solomon wasn’t being poetic. He was being accurate.

A single thread snaps under almost nothing. But wind three together and something changes. The strength isn’t just more: it’s something different. Wound against each other, the strands grip tight under tension; pull on the cord and it only cinches harder. When one strand frays, the others hold the line while it heals; the whole doesn’t fail because one part had a hard week. That’s not sentiment. That’s engineering.

That’s what a community is. Not a crowd standing near each other; a cord wound together, where the strain that would snap any one of us is carried by all of us.

And the third strand?

Solomon could have said two. He said three. The third strand woven through this whole thing is the One we started with and end with every single time: God first.

That’s what makes this cord not merely strong, but not quickly broken.

There are certain teachings of Jesus that we Christians love to quote.

God loves us.

God forgives us.

God is merciful.

And thank God He is.

But then there are teachings of Jesus that are much harder to sit with —

because instead of telling us what God will do for us, they tell us what following Him requires from us.

Forgiveness is one of them.

Especially when the wound is real.

Especially when the other person really did hurt you.

Especially when they haven’t apologized.

Especially when you believe they were wrong and you were right.

That’s where following Jesus gets uncomfortable.

Because Jesus never said:

“Forgive people who deserve it.”

He said something much harder.

Forgive because YOU have been forgiven.

Jesus Didn’t Leave Much Wiggle Room

When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He included this:

“And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.”
— Matthew 6:12 NKJV

But Jesus didn’t leave it there.

Immediately after finishing the Lord’s Prayer, He returned to this one particular subject:

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”
— Matthew 6:14–15 NKJV

Read that again.

Jesus doesn’t qualify it.

He doesn’t say:

Unless they really hurt you.

Unless they lied about you.

Unless they betrayed you.

Unless they humiliated you.

Unless they’re your political enemy.

Unless they never apologize.

He simply says:

If you refuse to forgive, neither will your Father forgive you.

Those aren’t my words.

They’re His.

And if we’re going to call ourselves followers of Jesus, we don’t get to embrace the teachings that comfort us while explaining away the ones that confront us.

But What If They REALLY Did Something Wrong?

This is where Jesus’ teaching becomes even more radical.

Sometimes we talk about forgiveness as though perhaps the offended person simply misunderstood what happened.

But Jesus doesn’t assume that.

He says:

“Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”
— Matthew 5:44 NKJV

Notice the language.

Enemies.

People who curse you.

People who hate you.

People who spitefully use you.

Jesus assumes there really are people who will mistreat you.

And His command remains:

Follow Me anyway.

That’s what makes Christianity so radically different from the natural instincts of the world.

The world says:

They hate you? Hate them back.

They embarrassed you? Expose them.

They insulted you? Destroy them.

They won’t apologize? Never forgive them.

Jesus says:

Love them. Bless them. Do good to them. Pray for them.

That’s not weakness.

That’s one of the hardest forms of obedience Jesus ever commanded.

“I Will NEVER Forgive Them.”

There is an enormous spiritual difference between someone saying:

“Lord, I’m trying to forgive them. I’m still angry. I’m still hurt. Some days the resentment comes roaring back. But I know what You commanded me to do. Please help me.”

And someone saying:

“I don’t care. After what they did, I will NEVER forgive them.”

The first person is struggling against sin.

The second person is defending it.

And we’ve got to understand the difference.

Christianity doesn’t require instantaneous emotional perfection.

Sometimes forgiveness is a battle.

Sometimes you may have to surrender the same resentment to God again tomorrow morning.

And the next morning.

And the next.

But there’s a tremendous difference between struggling to obey Jesus and simply deciding:

“On this issue, I’m not obeying Him.”

At some point we have to ask an uncomfortable question:

If Jesus is truly my Lord, do I get to tell Him which commands I’m willing to obey?

Jesus Told A Story About Exactly This

Peter once asked Jesus:

“Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
— Matthew 18:21 NKJV

Jesus answered:

“I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”
— Matthew 18:22 NKJV

Then Jesus tells the story of a servant who owed his king an enormous debt.

The servant couldn’t pay.

He begged for mercy.

And the king forgave the debt.

Then that same servant went out and found another man who owed him comparatively little.

Instead of extending the mercy he had just received, he demanded payment.

No mercy.

No compassion.

No forgiveness.

When the king heard about it, he asked:

“Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?”
— Matthew 18:33 NKJV

Then Jesus ends the parable with an incredibly sobering warning:

“So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”
— Matthew 18:35 NKJV

Don’t miss those three words:

FROM HIS HEART.

Jesus isn’t merely interested in whether we stopped yelling at somebody.

He’s interested in whether we’re still nursing the hatred inside.

John Takes It Even Further

The apostle John gives us another uncomfortable test.

“He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now.”
— 1 John 2:9 NKJV

And later:

“Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.”
— 1 John 3:15 NKJV

Those are strong words.

But they fit perfectly with Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.

God isn’t merely interested in whether you physically murdered somebody.

He’s interested in what is happening inside the heart that wanted to hate them.

And that’s why we need to be extremely careful about comforting ourselves with:

“Well, I’m a pretty good person.”

The biblical question isn’t merely:

Have I committed the worst possible outward sins?

The deeper question is:

What kind of fruit is my relationship with Jesus producing inside me?

Does That Mean Forgiveness Earns Salvation?

No.

We need to be crystal clear about this.

We are not forgiven because we accumulated enough good works to deserve salvation.

Paul says:

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
— Ephesians 2:8–9 NKJV

But don’t stop reading there.

The very next verse says:

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
— Ephesians 2:10 NKJV

Works don’t purchase salvation.

But a transformed walk provides evidence that faith is alive.

And forgiveness is part of that transformation.

Why?

Because someone who understands how desperately they needed God’s mercy begins learning how to extend mercy to somebody else.

Not because the other person deserves it.

NEITHER. WERE. WE.

That’s the Gospel.

Forgiveness Does NOT Mean What Some People Think It Means

This needs to be said clearly.

Forgiveness does not necessarily mean pretending nothing happened.

It doesn’t mean calling evil good.

It doesn’t mean eliminating consequences.

It doesn’t mean immediately trusting someone who has repeatedly betrayed you.

It doesn’t mean returning to an abusive or destructive relationship.

And it doesn’t necessarily mean that the relationship can be completely restored.

Paul gives us an important qualification:

“If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”
— Romans 12:18 NKJV

As much as depends on YOU.

Reconciliation usually requires two willing people.

Forgiveness doesn’t.

I can say:

“What you did was wrong. It hurt me. I cannot trust you the way I once did. There may need to be boundaries between us.

But I refuse to hate you.

I refuse to spend my life wishing evil upon you.

I surrender vengeance to God.

And I genuinely pray that God brings you to repentance and blesses you with salvation.”

That’s not weakness.

That’s FREEDOM!

Be Careful When The Argument Becomes Political

This gets especially dangerous when resentment attaches itself to politics, movements, nations, denominations, ideologies, or factions.

Because suddenly Christians begin creating exceptions to Jesus’ commands.

Love your enemies…

unless they’re Democrats.

Forgive those who trespass against you…

unless they’re Catholic.

Bless those who curse you…

unless they’re on THAT side.

No.

Jesus never gave us that loophole.

You can believe someone is completely wrong politically or spiritually.

You can oppose what they’re doing.

You can expose lies.

You can stand firmly for truth.

But you cannot say:

“Therefore Jesus’ command to love them no longer applies.”

Christ is not divided according to our worldly factions.

Our allegiance to KING JESUS has to come before our allegiance to everything else.

And Here’s Where It Gets REALLY Uncomfortable

It’s easy to read an article about unforgiveness and immediately think:

“I know somebody who desperately needs to read this.”

Maybe you do.

But before sending it to them...

look in the mirror.

Because resentment is incredibly deceptive.

We can become angry at someone for being angry.

We can become hateful toward someone because they’re hateful.

We can refuse to forgive someone because they refuse to forgive us.

And suddenly we’re committing the very thing we’re condemning.

Paul tells us:

“Repay no one evil for evil.”
— Romans 12:17 NKJV

And then:

“Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,’ says the Lord.”
— Romans 12:19 NKJV

Their sin doesn’t give me permission to sin.

Their hatred doesn’t give me permission to hate.

Their resentment doesn’t justify mine.

Their refusal to forgive doesn’t excuse my refusal to forgive.

I answer to Jesus for MY heart.

So What Do We Do With The Hurt?

We give it to Jesus.

Maybe not once.

Maybe a hundred times.

When the memory comes back...

Give it to Him.

When you start replaying the argument...

Give it to Him.

When you’re mentally rehearsing what you wish you’d said...

Give it to Him.

When you find yourself hoping they’ll finally “get what’s coming to them”...

Give it to Him.

Because every time we rehearse the offense, we’re allowing someone else’s actions to occupy space inside us.

Jesus offers something better.

Freedom.

Paul writes:

“And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”
— Ephesians 4:32 NKJV

There’s the standard.

Not:

Forgive them because they earned it.

But:

Forgive them because CHRIST forgave YOU.

The Question Isn’t Whether They Deserve Mercy

Maybe they don’t.

Neither did I.

Neither did you.

That’s what makes mercy mercy.

Jesus hung on a cross while people mocked Him, humiliated Him, tortured Him, and gambled for His clothing.

And He said:

“Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”
— Luke 23:34 NKJV

That’s our King.

That’s the One we claim to follow.

So perhaps the question isn’t:

“Do they deserve my forgiveness?”

Perhaps the better question is:

“After everything Jesus has forgiven me for… am I willing to give Him this hurt too?”

Because someday every political argument will be over.

Every grudge will be irrelevant.

Every earthly faction will disappear.

Every possession will belong to somebody else.

And every one of us will stand before God.

So while we’re still here, let’s make sure we’re walking the road Jesus actually told us to walk.

Not the road of vengeance.

Not the road of resentment.

Not the road of hatred.

But the narrow road of mercy, forgiveness, obedience, and love.

Because Jesus didn’t merely tell us to love the people who love us.

Even the world can do that.

He called us to something much greater:

“Love your enemies.”

And then He showed us exactly what that looks like.

Imagine this.

It is October 2026.

America is only weeks away from the midterm elections.

You pick up your phone and see a video spreading across X.

A major political candidate appears on screen saying something devastating.

Maybe it is racist.

Maybe it is corrupt.

Maybe it sounds like an admission of criminal behavior.

Maybe it is a declaration so extreme that, if authentic, it could change an election.

Within minutes, the clip is everywhere.

People are furious.

Influencers repost it.

Political opponents condemn it.

Supporters insist it must be fake.

Then someone says:

“It’s AI.”

Another account says it has been authenticated.

Someone posts a slowed-down version supposedly proving manipulation.

Someone else posts a screenshot from an alleged forensic analysis.

A television network begins discussing it.

Anonymous accounts claim intelligence officials have verified it.

Others claim those officials are lying.

Millions of people have already watched it.

And almost nobody actually knows whether it is real.

Welcome to one of the defining problems of the artificial-intelligence age:

Seeing may no longer be believing.

For generations, photographs, recordings, and video carried a special psychological weight.

I saw it with my own eyes.

But artificial intelligence is rapidly weakening that assumption.

Images can be generated.

Voices can be cloned.

Faces can be swapped.

Video can be manipulated.

Screenshots can be fabricated.

Entire events can be depicted that never occurred.

And perhaps even more dangerously, authentic evidence can now be dismissed with

two words:

“AI generated.”

This isn’t merely a technological problem.

It is a spiritual problem.

Because Christians belong to a faith whose Savior declared:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
— John 14:6 KJV

If we claim to follow the One who calls Himself the Truth, then our relationship with truth cannot depend upon whether a claim benefits our political tribe.

In the age of artificial intelligence,

discernment is no longer optional.

1. When Seeing Is No Longer Believing

Generative artificial intelligence has advanced astonishingly quickly.

Creating convincing synthetic media once required expensive software, specialized skills, and considerable time.

Today, increasingly sophisticated tools can generate realistic images, imitate voices, and alter video with dramatically lower barriers to entry.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s deepfake-forensics program exists precisely because realistic synthetic media presents increasingly difficult authentication problems.

NIST has also cautioned that detection systems can perform differently when moved from controlled testing environments into real-world conditions.

That should humble us.

We cannot assume:

“Someone will just run it through an AI detector.”

There is no universally reliable magic button that instantly tells ordinary citizens whether every piece of media is authentic.

And the technology generating synthetic media continues improving.

That means our habits must improve too.

2. The 2026 Political Battlefield

This isn’t a hypothetical concern for some distant election.

It is happening now.

As America approaches the 2026 midterms, states have been attempting to establish rules governing AI-generated political media.

According to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ tracker of artificial intelligence in elections and campaigns, as of June 23, 2026, 31 states had enacted laws regulating deepfakes in political messaging.

But those laws are not uniform.

Some prohibit certain deceptive political deepfakes during specified periods surrounding elections.

Others require disclosures informing viewers that media has been artificially generated or altered.

And constitutional challenges have complicated some state efforts.

The result is a patchwork.

A piece of synthetic political media may face different rules depending upon where it appears and how it is distributed.

Meanwhile, AI-generated political content continues becoming easier to produce.

Think about what that means.

A fake recording no longer needs to convince everyone.

It may only need to convince enough people for long enough.

By the time journalists, campaigns, forensic experts, and platforms determine what happened, the emotional impact may already have occurred.

The correction might reach thousands.

The original deception might already have reached millions.

That asymmetry matters.

3. Deepfakes Are Only Half the Problem

The obvious danger is that people will believe something fake.

But there is another danger that may prove equally destructive:

People may stop believing something real.

Researchers call this phenomenon the “liar’s dividend.”

Once society knows that realistic synthetic media exists, someone confronted with genuine evidence can potentially respond:

“That’s a deepfake.”

The existence of artificial media creates plausible deniability around authentic media.

Research summarized by Yale’s Institution for Social and Policy Studies examined whether politicians can benefit from falsely claiming damaging information is misinformation.

That creates an extraordinary problem.

AI doesn’t merely give dishonest people better tools for manufacturing evidence.

It potentially gives them better tools for denying authentic evidence.

Yesterday’s problem was:

“Can someone make me believe something that never happened?”

Tomorrow’s problem may also be:

“Can someone convince me that something I actually witnessed never happened?”

4. Propaganda Didn’t Begin With Artificial Intelligence

We should also resist technological panic.

Human beings did not invent deception when generative AI arrived.

Propaganda is ancient.

Governments have used it.

Political campaigns have used it.

Corporations have used it.

Activists have used it.

Religious movements have used it.

Media organizations have sometimes participated in it.

And ordinary citizens participate whenever we knowingly distort something because the distortion benefits our cause.

AI did not create the human desire to manipulate.

It changed the tools.

What once required a printing press could later be done through radio.

Radio became television.

Television was joined by the internet.

The internet produced social media.

And social media has now collided with generative artificial intelligence.

The underlying temptation remains ancient:

Control what people believe, and you can influence what they do.

5. Christians Are Not Immune

This may be the most uncomfortable section of this article.

Christians love talking about deception when someone else is being deceived.

We are less enthusiastic about examining our own susceptibility.

Suppose someone posts an outrageous video of a politician you already dislike.

Your immediate reaction may be:

“I KNEW IT!”

You repost it.

Your friends repost it.

Thousands of people share it.

Hours later, the original footage emerges.

The viral version was altered.

What happens next?

Do we delete it?

Do we correct it?

Do we tell the same audience that saw our accusation that we were wrong?

Or do we quietly move along because the fake supported something we already believed about that person?

Christians need to understand something:

Bearing false witness does not suddenly become righteous because the target is somebody we dislike.

“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”

There is no political exemption attached.

Truth does not become optional during election season.

6. Our Greatest Vulnerability May Be Confirmation Bias

The most convincing misinformation isn’t always something completely foreign to us.

Often it is something we already want to believe.

If I already believe a politician is corrupt, a fabricated story about that politician requires very little persuasion.

If I already believe a media organization lies constantly, I may instantly believe an unsourced claim proving that organization fabricated a story.

If I already distrust pharmaceutical companies, intelligence agencies, technology companies, Republicans, Democrats, pastors, billionaires, or government officials, information confirming that distrust receives less scrutiny.

We become skeptical of information we dislike and remarkably gullible toward information we enjoy.

That isn’t discernment.

That is bias wearing a detective’s hat.

Christians should be different.

Truth should matter more than the emotional satisfaction of being proven right.

Solomon gives a description of a power system that is just as true today as it was 3,000 years ago.

Here is a number for you to chew on…

As of this week, the national debt is closing in on $40 trillion. That’s about $118,000 for every man, woman, and child in this country; a bill none of us signed for. It has more than doubled since 2014. And the interest alone now runs over a trillion dollars a year, one of the largest line items in the entire federal budget. We are borrowing money to pay the interest on the money we already borrowed.

Debt is not just a number. Debt is a relationship. When you owe, you are not free. The lender sets the terms. The lender decides what you can do next. A borrower reorders his whole life around the next payment; and so does a nation.

A country that owes cannot fully say no. Not to its creditors, not to the pressures that come with them. Scripture named that dynamic plainly: the borrower serves.

Not because someone is cruel, but because that is simply what debt does. It transfers the future to someone else and calls it the present.

And that same trap is laid at your own feet, every single day.

A culture built to keep you always owing; the card, the note, the lease, the “buy now, pay later”, is a culture built to keep you serving. An anxious, indebted, over-leveraged people is an easy people to steer. A family with no margin has no room to resist anything. That is simply the arithmetic of Proverbs 22:7 playing out on a national scale.

So what do we do? We don’t panic. We get free; starting with the ground directly under our own feet. You may not be able to fix $40 trillion this week. But you can fix your own house.

See it clearly.

Add up what you owe. All your of it. You cannot escape a trap you refuse to look at. If the number will sting, let it. Awareness is the first act of freedom.

Kill the consumer debt first.

Smallest balance to largest, or highest interest first; pick one and attack. Every balance you clear is a lender who no longer sets your terms.

Build margin.

Even a small emergency fund changes your posture from prey to free. Margin is what lets you say no.

Live below your means, on purpose.

Contentment is a weapon. “Godliness with contentment is great gain” (1 Timothy 6:6).

The person who has learned to want less cannot be bought.

Give.

It sounds backwards, but generosity is what breaks money’s grip on the heart. You prove money is your tool, not your master, the moment you can open your hand. This was never only about dollars.

“No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve God and money” (Matthew 6:24).

The goal isn’t wealth for its own sake. The goal is to be free! Free enough to serve the One who actually deserves it, and beholden to no one else.

The borrower is servant. So stop borrowing your future away. Start, this week, with one balance. One step.

Freedom is built the same way debt is: a little at a time.

Introduction: More Than a Virus

COVID was more than a virus.

It became one of the defining events of our generation.

It entered hospitals, nursing homes, schools, businesses, churches, courtrooms, workplaces, and private homes. It changed how people worshiped, learned, worked, traveled, grieved, celebrated, and related to one another.

Some losses were visible.

They appeared in death certificates, unemployment claims, bankruptcy filings, empty classrooms, canceled weddings, restricted funerals, deserted sanctuaries, and government spending reports.

Other losses may never be calculated.

How do we measure the final months a grandparent spent separated from family?

How do we calculate the cost of a child losing formative years of education, friendship, and ordinary development?

What dollar amount can be placed on a family business that took decades to build but only months to destroy?

How do we measure a friendship broken over a mask, a job lost over a mandate, a diagnosis delayed, a church divided, or public trust shattered by contradiction, secrecy, and exaggerated certainty?

The World Health Organization estimated approximately 14.9 million excess deaths globally during 2020 and 2021. Excess mortality includes deaths directly associated with COVID and indirect deaths connected to disruptions in healthcare and society. It does not mean every excess death was caused by the virus itself, but it demonstrates that the pandemic era’s human toll reached far beyond official COVID death certificates.

This article is not written to deny that COVID killed people.

It did.

Families buried loved ones. Healthcare workers faced extraordinary pressure. Survivors endured serious illness, and some continue to experience long-term complications.

Neither should we pretend that every decision made during the first weeks of uncertainty was malicious. Leaders were confronting a new disease with incomplete information.

But emergency decisions must still be examined.

Authorities must still be accountable.

Contradictions must still be confronted.

The suffering caused by the disease cannot be used to erase suffering caused by isolation, delayed care, prolonged closures, economic destruction, coercive policies, institutional dishonesty, or censorship.

We must be willing to hold two truths at once:

COVID caused profound human suffering.

Some responses to COVID also caused profound human suffering.

Remembering only one side gives us an incomplete history—and incomplete history leaves us vulnerable to repeating it.

1. The Lives We Lost

Behind every statistic was a person.

A mother.

A father.

A husband or wife.

A son or daughter.

A pastor.

A nurse.

A neighbor.

Some died from severe COVID infection. Others died during a period when healthcare systems were disrupted, appointments were postponed, screenings were delayed, and people were frightened or unable to seek care.

Excess-mortality figures matter because they attempt to measure the whole crisis. WHO estimated 14.91 million excess deaths worldwide during 2020–21—approximately 9.49 million more than the number officially reported as directly attributable to COVID during that period.

Those numbers must be interpreted honestly.

Excess mortality does not prove that every additional death was caused by COVID. It also does not prove that every additional death was caused by lockdowns. It measures the difference between observed deaths and the number expected under normal conditions.

Some deaths were caused directly by infection.

Some were connected to overwhelmed or disrupted healthcare.

Others may have involved delayed treatment, addiction, despair, violence, poverty, or other pandemic-era conditions.

A truthful accounting must examine them all.

There was also a loss that mortality tables cannot capture: the way many people died.

Patients were separated from spouses and children.

Nursing-home residents went months without ordinary contact.

Families said goodbye through phones, windows, protective equipment, or video calls.

Funerals were restricted, postponed, livestreamed, or never held.

Grief itself became regulated.

“Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.” — Romans 12:15

Yet during one of the greatest periods of collective grief in modern history, countless people were forced to weep alone.

That must remain our starting point.

Before politics, before blame, before argument—there were human beings who died and families who still carry them in their hearts.

2. The Family Time We Can Never Recover

Public policy often treated separation as temporary.

But time is never temporary.

A missed birthday cannot be rescheduled in the truest sense. A child’s first steps cannot be replayed for the grandparent who watched through a screen. Final months spent apart cannot be restored later.

Families lost:

weddings,

graduations,

hospital visits,

holiday gatherings,

church services,

funerals,

and ordinary Sunday dinners.

Some elderly people lived their final season without the touch of the people they loved most. Families were often told that separation was an act of love—and many complied because they genuinely wanted to protect vulnerable relatives.

But the emotional and spiritual consequences were enormous.

Human beings were not created merely to remain biologically alive. We were created for relationship, touch, fellowship, worship, service, and love.

“It is not good that the man should be alone.” — Genesis 2:18

COVID reminded us how precious presence is.

It also exposed how easily institutions can treat presence as expendable.

The next emergency must not begin with the assumption that human connection is optional. Protecting life must include protecting the relationships that give life meaning.

3. The Childhood We Cannot Give Back

Children paid a price for decisions they did not make.

Schools closed. Classrooms moved onto screens. Sports disappeared. Graduations were canceled. Special-needs services became harder to access. Children who needed structure, speech therapy, counseling, meal programs, or individualized instruction often received less than they needed.

The Government Accountability Office found that teachers reported more students beginning the 2020–21 school year behind and making less academic progress than during a typical year. Distance learning created especially serious challenges for English learners and students with disabilities.

Across OECD systems, two-thirds of participating countries or economies closed schools for more than three months for most students. Research also connected the pandemic period with deteriorating youth mental health, interruptions in care, and the wide-ranging effects of school closures.

Children lost more than academic instruction.

They lost routine.

Friendship.

Confidence.

Athletic seasons.

School plays.

Proms.

Choir rehearsals.

Lunch-table conversations.

Normal opportunities to learn conflict, cooperation, independence, and resilience.

Some recovered quickly. Others did not.

We must never again speak as though a child can simply be given a laptop and expected to experience education, friendship, and development as usual.

If children are a heritage from God, their well-being cannot be treated as an afterthought in emergency policy.

4. The Businesses, Jobs, and Dreams We Lost

A business is not merely a line on an economic chart.

It may represent someone’s savings, family history, reputation, calling, or lifelong dream.

Restaurants closed.

Gyms closed.

Salons closed.

Theaters closed.

Independent retailers closed.

Musicians, tradespeople, contractors, hospitality workers, and service employees watched their income disappear.

GAO reported that many of America’s more than 30 million small businesses experienced reduced revenue or closure. The Small Business Administration distributed extraordinary amounts of emergency relief, but the rapid rollout also created major vulnerabilities to fraud and improper payments.

While many small businesses struggled to survive, larger companies with stronger digital infrastructure, capital reserves, and political access were often better positioned to absorb disruption.

That disparity deserves scrutiny.

When the government determines which businesses are “essential,” it is not making an abstract classification. It is deciding who may continue earning a living and who must depend on permission, relief programs, savings, or debt.

Scripture teaches the dignity of labor:

“If any would not work, neither should he eat.” — 2 Thessalonians 3:10

But during the pandemic, many people were willing to work and legally prohibited from doing so.

Future emergency plans must weigh not only infection risk but the immense human cost of preventing people from providing for their families.

5. The Care That Was Delayed

Hospitals prepared for surges. Elective procedures were postponed. Screenings and routine visits were disrupted. Some people avoided healthcare facilities from fear of infection, while others encountered restrictions or reduced access.

Not every delayed appointment resulted in harm. Some measures were taken to preserve capacity during genuine emergencies.

But delayed care has consequences.

Cancer does not pause for a lockdown.

Heart disease does not wait for restrictions to expire.

Mental illness does not disappear because counseling moved online.

Addiction does not respect emergency declarations.

Even Fauci’s newly released diary material has now become part of this conversation. At a July 29, 2026 Senate hearing, Senator James Lankford cited a May 2020 diary entry in which Fauci reportedly expressed alarm that more than one million children had missed measles vaccinations because of shutdowns, warning that the resulting child deaths could exceed COVID deaths among children. Fauci invoked the Fifth Amendment rather than answering questions about that entry. The quotation and exchange were published by Lankford’s official Senate office, while independent reporting confirmed that Fauci repeatedly invoked the Fifth during the hearing.

Invoking the Fifth is a constitutional right and is not, by itself, proof of guilt.

But the diary passage—assuming the released document is authentic—illustrates something critical: officials understood that pandemic interventions could produce serious secondary harms.

Those harms deserve the same honest examination as the harms caused by infection.

Here is a strange thing about the man at the center of the headlines. For more than twenty years, Anthony Fauci wrote everything down.

We know this because Senator Rand Paul released it: a 465-page record the doctor kept of his own career; the meetings, the briefings, the White House rooms, the men he advised, going back to 2001. It is the diary of a man who cared deeply about his own story and meant to control how it was told.

For two decades he walked into the light on his own terms, pen in hand, narrating his own legacy.

And then last week, seated before the Senate, that same man was asked to speak plainly about the pandemic years and he said nothing at all. More than one hundred times, he invoked the Fifth Amendment. One rehearsed sentence, and then more silence, for over two hours.

Silence under subpoena is a legal right, not a confession, but Scripture reveals a pattern the Lord Himself named:

Deeds that love the dark are the deeds that flee the light.

And here is what should sober all of us: the light is coming regardless. The only question Scripture leaves open is not whether a thing comes into the light; it is how. We walk in, or we are dragged in.

Now, the powerful are being dragged. A subpoena he could not dodge. A silence he had to hide behind. A committee weighing whether to hold him in contempt.

But there is another group in this story…maybe you are one of them.

For years, ordinary Americans who dared to ask where did this come from were called dangerous. Conspiracy theorists. A threat to public health. We were mocked from late-night stages, throttled by algorithms, lectured by people who insisted the science was settled and the questions were closed. The man who just pleaded the Fifth once looked across an earlier Senate hearing at the one senator who would not stop asking and told him, “You do not know what you’re talking about.” Some of us lost jobs. Some lost friends. Many of us learned to hold our tongue.

And under oath, the man at the center of it all, asked those same questions, chose silence.

Meanwhile, the White House’s own official position, reasserted just last week, as Fauci sat before the Senate, is printed in plain language on its own website:

COVID-19 most likely originated from a lab-related incident in Wuhan.

While the origin is not yet proven; the scientific debate genuinely continues. But here is what is settled: the question we were forbidden to ask is now printed on official government letterhead. The door that was slammed in our faces is now wide open.

That is not nothing. That is the beginning of vindication.

Scripture told us this day would come.

“For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light” Luke 8:17

On God’s timeline, not ours, and honestly that’s the hard part, isn’t it? The waiting before you’re proven right in the fullness of time.

Do not grow weary.

A pardon can remove federal criminal exposure for the person and conduct it covers. It cannot erase records, pardon associates, bind state authorities, or prevent investigators from using relevant evidence in cases against other people.

Executive Summary

President Joseph R. Biden Jr.'s January 19, 2025 warrant granted Dr. Anthony S. Fauci a full and unconditional pardon for federal offenses he may have committed or participated in from January 1, 2014 through the date of the pardon, when those offenses arose from or related to his work as NIAID director, a White House coronavirus adviser, or chief medical adviser to the President. That language is unusually broad. But it is not universal immunity.

The Constitution limits presidential clemency to offenses against the United States. A federal pardon does not reach state crimes, future conduct, civil liability, congressional fact-finding, professional discipline, or the criminal exposure of other people. Nor does it destroy evidence. Emails, grant records, testimony, metadata, and agency files may remain relevant in proceedings involving unpardoned defendants.

That is why the federal prosecution of Dr. David M. Morens matters. Morens served as a senior adviser in NIAID's Office of the Director from 2006 through 2022. In April 2026, the Department of Justice announced that a federal grand jury in Maryland had charged him with conspiracy against the United States, records-related obstruction offenses, concealment or removal of federal records, and aiding and abetting. The indictment is an accusation, not a finding of guilt, and Morens is presumed innocent. Its legal importance is that the alleged scheme involves multiple people, private communications, federal grant matters, and information allegedly routed to a senior NIAID official.

The correct conclusion is not that the Morens case proves wrongdoing by Fauci. It does not. The correct conclusion is narrower and more consequential: Fauci's pardon does not prevent prosecutors, grand juries, Congress, inspectors general, or civil litigants from examining the surrounding evidence where they possess lawful authority.

1. The Constitutional Pardon Power

Article II, Section 2, Clause 1 authorizes the President to grant reprieves and pardons for offenses against the United States, except in cases of impeachment. The phrase 'against the United States' is the jurisdictional boundary. It means federal offenses. A President cannot pardon a violation of state criminal law, cannot erase impeachment consequences, and cannot prospectively authorize crimes that have not yet occurred.

The power is nevertheless extensive. Supreme Court precedent recognizes that a pardon can be issued before indictment, after indictment, after conviction, or after sentence, provided the conduct has already occurred and falls within federal jurisdiction. 2. What a Presidential Pardon Does - and Does Not Do

What it does

For covered conduct, a valid pardon removes or prevents the federal criminal punishment and legal disabilities that the pardon reaches. The precise effect depends on the warrant's language and the particular legal consequence at issue. It is executive clemency, not a judicial acquittal after a trial on the merits.

What it does not do

• It does not erase the historical facts or destroy government records.

• It does not bind state prosecutors or pardon state offenses.

• It does not excuse crimes committed after the pardon date.

• It does not automatically terminate congressional oversight or Inspector General review.

• It does not bar civil claims, where an independent civil cause of action exists.

Older language in Garland described a pardon as blotting out guilt, but later decisions and modern constitutional analysis caution against reading that rhetoric as literal erasure of facts or records.

Burdick v. United States (1915)

Burdick is especially important because it involved the Fifth Amendment. A newspaper editor refused to identify sources before a grand jury. President Woodrow Wilson issued a pardon intended to remove the risk of self-incrimination, but Burdick rejected it. The Supreme Court held that he could refuse the pardon and continue invoking the privilege. Burdick therefore raises two questions whenever a pardon is used to argue that a witness has no Fifth Amendment protection: Was the pardon accepted, and does any realistic criminal exposure remain outside its scope?

Burdick's statement that a pardon carries an 'imputation of guilt' is frequently used as though acceptance equals a criminal conviction. That is too broad. A pardon is not a verdict, does not supply proof beyond a reasonable doubt, and does not adjudicate the elements of an offense.

Biddle v. Perovich (1927) and Schick v. Reed (1974)

Biddle emphasized that clemency is an exercise of constitutional power serving public welfare, not merely a private act of grace. Schick reaffirmed the breadth of the clemency power and upheld a lawful condition attached to a commutation. Together, they reinforce that presidential clemency is broad while remaining bounded by the Constitution.

4. What the Fauci Warrant Actually Covers

The operative language grants Fauci a full and unconditional pardon for any federal offenses he may have committed or taken part in from January 1, 2014 through January 19, 2025, when those offenses arose from or related in any manner to his service as NIAID director, a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force or COVID-19 Response Team, or chief medical adviser to the President.

The breadth matters in three ways. First, it is not limited to named statutes. Second, it is not limited to conduct already charged or publicly known. Third, it uses expansive nexus language: 'arising from or in any manner related to' the listed federal service.

But the date and jurisdiction boundaries remain. Conduct after January 19, 2025 is not pardoned by this warrant. State-law violations are not offenses against the United States. A future false statement, future perjury, future obstruction, or future contempt offense would be a new act and would require its own legal analysis.

The warrant also does not say that Fauci is innocent or guilty. It is an executive grant of clemency that does not identify a criminal charge, conviction, or factual finding.

5. The Fifth Amendment After a Broad Pardon

The Fifth Amendment protects a witness from being compelled to provide testimony that could reasonably be used in a criminal prosecution or lead to evidence that could be so used. The privilege is question-specific. A witness cannot ordinarily invoke it merely to avoid embarrassment, political damage, or civil consequences.

A sufficiently broad, accepted pardon may eliminate federal self-incrimination risk for covered conduct. But that does not automatically eliminate every conceivable risk. Counsel would examine possible state exposure, post-pardon acts, offenses outside the pardon nexus, and whether answers could furnish a link in a chain leading to unpardoned conduct. Courts, not political actors, ultimately resolve a contested privilege claim when enforcement litigation reaches the judiciary.

A pardon may therefore make a pardoned witness more available as a fact witness, not less. Once criminal exposure is genuinely removed, the Fifth Amendment may no longer justify silence about the covered events. That can strengthen an investigation of other people because prosecutors or Congress may seek testimony about who communicated, who directed a step, where records were stored, or how a decision was made.

6. The David Morens Prosecution

The Morens case provides the concrete legal mechanism through which the wider evidentiary picture may develop. DOJ states that Morens served as a senior adviser in NIAID's Office of the Director from 2006 through 2022. The government alleges that he advised senior NIAID personnel, gathered information from grantees and scientists, helped formulate policy, and briefed a person identified in the charging narrative as 'Senior NIAID Official 1.'

According to DOJ's April 28, 2026 announcement, the indictment charges conspiracy against the United States; destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in federal investigations; concealment, removal, or mutilation of records; and aiding and abetting. DOJ alleges that Morens and others used his personal Gmail account to conceal communications anticipated to be subject to FOIA, exchanged nonpublic NIH information, worked on efforts concerning a terminated bat-coronavirus grant, edited communications to NIH leadership, and back-channeled information to Senior NIAID Official 1. DOJ also describes alleged gratuities involving wine and proposed restaurant meals.

These are allegations. The indictment does not prove that Morens committed any offense. It also does not, by itself, establish that Fauci was Senior NIAID Official 1, a co-conspirator, or criminally responsible. Generic identifiers are frequently used for uncharged people or entities, and identity must not be inferred as a legal conclusion without the charging document or later court record making it explicit.

7. Why the Morens Case Can Broaden the Investigation

The conspiracy count is a network charge

A conspiracy allegation necessarily directs investigators toward an agreement involving more than one person. Prosecutors must prove the charged agreement, the defendant's knowing participation, and any additional statutory requirements. Mere association, friendship, employment, or shared political views are insufficient. But lawful proof of an agreement may require the government to map communications, roles, benefits, concealment steps, and overt acts across a group.

Electronic evidence expands laterally

A search of one account can identify other accounts, devices, custodians, forwarding chains, attachments, shared drives, calendar entries, document versions, deleted-message remnants, and metadata. A private-email allegation is especially significant because it raises the possibility that official records exist outside normal agency repositories.

Grand jury subpoenas can reach third parties

A federal grand jury may compel relevant records and testimony, subject to privilege and constitutional limits. Providers, universities, nonprofits, journals, contractors, grant recipients, and government agencies may possess independent copies that cannot be eliminated by deleting one user's mailbox.

Cooperation can explain intent

Documents show words; witnesses can explain purpose. A cooperating witness may identify participants, interpret shorthand, explain why private channels were chosen, locate additional records, or describe whether a senior official knew of the alleged method. There is no public basis in the cited materials to state that Morens is cooperating. The point is procedural: cooperation is one lawful avenue by which a case can expand.

Trial evidence may include uncharged conduct and actors

To prove intent, concealment, materiality, or the existence of an agreement, prosecutors may seek admissible evidence involving people who are not defendants. That does not convert every referenced person into a suspect. It means that a defendant's conduct is often understandable only within the surrounding factual network.

8. Why Fauci-Related Evidence Can Still Be Used

Fauci's pardon is personal. It does not immunize Morens, an institution, a grant recipient, a researcher, or an unnamed co-conspirator. If Fauci-related communications are relevant to proving what Morens knew or intended, those communications may remain discoverable and potentially admissible, subject to ordinary evidentiary rules and privileges.

Investigators may lawfully ask: What information did Morens transmit upward? Did the recipient know the channel was unofficial? Were official records preserved elsewhere? Did internal communications match representations to Congress? Were decisions affected by information transmitted through a private route? Those are investigative questions, not conclusions of guilt.

The pardon may bar prosecution of Fauci for covered pre-pardon federal conduct. It does not prohibit a court from receiving evidence about that conduct where relevant to another defendant. Nor does it prevent Congress from documenting the history, an Inspector General from evaluating agency controls, or a civil litigant from pursuing otherwise lawful discovery.

9. The Congressional Record That Preceded the Indictment

The Morens prosecution did not arise in a documentary vacuum. The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic subpoenaed records, conducted a transcribed interview, held a public hearing, and released a staff memorandum containing emails and allegations about private-email use, deletion of records, information shared with EcoHealth Alliance President Peter Daszak, and possible federal records violations.

The House's statements are committee findings and allegations, not criminal judgments. They nevertheless illustrate a common institutional sequence: congressional oversight develops documents and testimony; potentially criminal evidence is referred or made available to law enforcement; the FBI and an Inspector General investigate; and a grand jury decides whether probable cause supports an indictment.

10. Congress, DOJ, Inspectors General, and Courts Have Different Roles

Congress investigates, legislates, appropriates funds, and conducts oversight. It may issue subpoenas and make referrals, but it does not indict or convict. DOJ investigates through law-enforcement agencies and presents evidence to a grand jury. Inspectors General investigate waste, fraud, abuse, and program integrity within their statutory jurisdiction. Courts resolve motions, privilege disputes, admissibility questions, guilt, and sentencing.

A pardon affects DOJ's ability to prosecute a covered person for covered federal conduct. It does not eliminate the separate constitutional or statutory functions of the other institutions. This is why the phrase 'the pardon ended accountability' is legally imprecise. It may end one form of accountability for one person; it does not necessarily end fact-finding, institutional reform, civil remedies, state enforcement, or prosecution of others.

11. Common Pardon Myths

Myth: A pardon proves innocence. Reality: A pardon is executive clemency, not an acquittal entered after a judicial determination of the evidence.

Myth: A pardon erases evidence. Reality: Records remain records. Their admissibility and relevance are governed by evidence law, privilege, and procedure.

Myth: A pardon protects everyone in the same investigation. Reality: Clemency is limited to the grantee or class identified in the warrant.

Myth: A pardon stops Congress. Reality: Congress may continue legitimate oversight, although subpoenas and privilege disputes may be litigated.

Myth: A pardon covers future testimony. Reality: A new knowingly false statement, perjury, obstruction, or contempt act occurring after the pardon is new conduct.

Myth: A broad pardon prevents the recipient from testifying. Reality: It may reduce Fifth Amendment exposure and make compulsion more legally plausible, depending on remaining risks.

12. Legal Questions to Watch

• Whether the government publicly files a more detailed bill of particulars or superseding indictment.

• Whether Morens litigates the sufficiency or constitutional application of the records and obstruction counts.

• Whether discovery identifies additional custodians, accounts, or institutional record systems.

• Whether any defendant or witness enters a cooperation agreement.

• Whether courts are asked to resolve Fauci's Fifth Amendment position after the pardon.

• Whether prosecutors identify the unnamed people and entities in open court or later filings.

• Whether evidence supports additional charges against unpardoned individuals - or instead clears them.

• Whether state authorities identify a genuinely applicable state offense not preempted or otherwise barred.

• Whether Congress or an Inspector General issues additional findings concerning agency record-retention controls.

Conclusion

The Fauci pardon is legally powerful. It is also legally bounded. It provides broad protection against federal prosecution for Fauci's covered service-related conduct between January 1, 2014 and January 19, 2025. It does not erase the documents, pardon the network around him, or prevent evidence involving him from being examined in a lawful proceeding against someone else.

The Morens prosecution is therefore the most important current legal development for understanding what may come next. Its significance is not that it proves a larger conspiracy. It does not. Its significance is that federal prosecutors have alleged a multi-person records-concealment scheme involving COVID-era grant matters and communications routed through private channels. That allegation creates lawful pathways to records, witnesses, metadata, institutions, and unnamed actors.

The investigation can broaden. Whether it should broaden, whom it should reach, and what conclusions it should produce must be decided by evidence and law - not by the existence of a pardon, and not by political certainty in either direction.

Refresher: What Fusion Actually Is

Skip this if you already know. It takes ninety seconds.

Every power plant on earth runs on the same basic idea: heat something up, make steam, spin a turbine, get electricity.

What changes is the fuel.

Coal burns. Gas burns. A nuclear plant splits heavy atoms apart, which releases heat but also leaves behind waste that stays dangerous for thousands of years.

Fusion does the opposite of splitting. It pushes two very light atoms together until they merge into one. When they merge, they release an enormous amount of energy; far more, pound for pound, than burning anything.

This is how the sun works. It has been running on fusion for four and a half billion years.

The fuel is hydrogen, and we get it from water. There is enough of it in the ocean to power human civilization for longer than the planet will exist. It produces no carbon emissions. It cannot melt down and if something goes wrong, the reaction simply stops. The waste problem is a fraction of what conventional nuclear leaves behind.

The catch, for seventy years, was that nobody could get more energy out than they put in. Squeezing atoms together requires temperatures hotter than the center of the sun, and holding that reaction steady was beyond our scientific capacities.

That changed on December 5, 2022, in a laboratory in Livermore, California, when scientists got more energy out of a fusion reaction than they put into it. Since then they have done it repeatedly, and the numbers keep improving.

So the science question is answered.

What happens now that it does?

A Room at LaGuardia Airport

Before you read another word about fusion, read this.

On the last day of February in 1980, a small group of men met in a conference room at LaGuardia Airport in New York. They came from Texaco, from SOHIO, from Exxon’s research division. The meeting was organized by the American Petroleum Institute (API), the trade group that represents the American oil industry and the group had a name that sounds almost quaint now:

The CO2 and Climate Task Force.

The minutes of that meeting exist. Anyone can read them. I have.

They brought in an outside expert named Dr. J.A. Laurman to brief them on what the science actually showed. He did not soften it.

He told them the scientific community already widely agreed that burning fossil fuels was warming the planet. He told them carbon dioxide in the atmosphere had climbed measurably since the 1800s and was still climbing. He walked them through what different levels of warming would mean and told them that by roughly 2025, the damage could be severe enough to stall global economic growth. Push further, and the effects became, in his word, catastrophic.

Then he told them the thing that should have stopped the meeting cold.

The final slide of his presentation asked a simple question:

Is there time to act?

His answer was four words, and the word in the middle was underlined by hand:

“There is NO leeway.”

Hard seasons do not create character.

They reveal it.

They reveal the people around us, but they also reveal us.

They show us who stays when staying becomes uncomfortable. Who asks questions before believing rumors. Who protects our name when we are not in the room. Who checks on us when there is nothing to gain from doing so.

They also reveal how we respond when we are hurt.

Do we become bitter?

Do we retaliate?

Do we allow someone else’s behavior to change who we are?

Or do we hold tightly to our convictions, even when doing so costs us something?

I have been thinking a lot about loyalty lately.

Not the kind of loyalty people speak about when life is easy and everyone is getting along.

Real loyalty.

The kind that is tested.

The kind that remains when a friend is walking through something difficult, when accusations are flying, and when standing beside someone might make you unpopular.

Anyone can celebrate with you when the room is applauding.

Character is revealed by what someone does when the room turns against you.

Loyalty means making the phone call before believing the rumor.

It means asking questions before reaching conclusions.

It means refusing to participate in conversations that tear down someone you once claimed to love.

It means defending a friend when they are not there to defend themselves.

It means being present, even when being present is inconvenient.

Loyalty is not always loud.

Sometimes it looks like a quiet message asking, “Are you okay?”

Sometimes it is a prayer offered when no one else knows you are hurting.

Sometimes it is simply refusing to join the crowd.

And sometimes silence says more than words ever could.

There is wisdom in remaining silent when we are the ones being slandered. That does not make it easy.

There is something deeply painful about hearing lies spoken about you and knowing you could answer every one of them.

It hurts when people you once defended will not do the same for you.

It hurts when those you supported during their lowest moments suddenly disappear during yours.

It hurts when people who once called you a friend can sit silently while others attack you, or worse, join the conversation themselves.

But people with eyes to see will see without being told what to think.

Character has a way of introducing itself.

Given enough time, people reveal who they are by how they treat those they no longer need, those who can no longer benefit them, and those who are not present to defend themselves.

Truth does not always need to scream.

Sometimes it simply waits.

One of the hardest parts of disappointment is not only realizing that you misjudged someone.

It is questioning your own discernment.

I believed the version of themselves some people chose to present.

I believed the words they spoke about friendship, faith, loyalty, and shared purpose.

I believed we had the same goals.

I believed we were working together to build something wholesome, meaningful, and good.

Looking back, I am not only disappointed by what was revealed.

I am disappointed in my own discernment.

I believed words when I should have watched actions.

I confused shared goals with shared character.

I assumed that because people spoke about the same mission, they carried the same convictions.

That has been a difficult lesson.

But I do not want that lesson to harden my heart.

I would rather occasionally be disappointed because I chose to believe the best in someone than become so cynical that I stop believing there is good in anyone.

The answer is not to stop loving.

It is to love with wisdom.

The answer is not a hardened heart.

It is a wiser one.

Grace and discernment must learn to walk together.

I also want to be clear about something.

I am not perfect.

I make mistakes.

I have said things out of frustration that I should not have said.

I have reacted emotionally.

I have misunderstood situations, made poor decisions, and had to apologize.

I am still learning.

I am still growing.

I will never claim to always get everything right.

But there are a few things I can honestly say about myself.

I am loyal.

When I call someone my friend, I mean it.

I will be there when my friend needs me, regardless of the cost to me.

I will answer the phone when their world is falling apart.

I will sit beside them when there are no words that can fix what they are facing.

I will defend them when they are not in the room.

I will ask them directly before believing what someone else says about them.

I will not abandon someone simply because standing beside them becomes uncomfortable.

I do not pretend to be someone I am not.

What you see is what you get.

Flawed, emotional, imperfect, still learning, but real.

I would rather be honestly imperfect than perfectly rehearsed.

Loyalty does not mean agreeing with everything someone does.

It does not mean excusing harmful behavior or abandoning healthy boundaries.

Sometimes love requires difficult conversations.

Sometimes wisdom requires distance.

But there is a difference between setting a boundary and betraying someone.

There is a difference between walking away peacefully and publicly humiliating a person who once helped carry you through your own difficult seasons.

There is a difference between disagreement and cruelty.

How we treat people after a relationship changes says far more about our character than how we treated them while they were useful to us.

It is easy to speak about love, faith, integrity, and loyalty when those words benefit our image.

The real test comes when living by those values costs us something.

Every Heart Is Looking for Something

Every human being longs for something beyond themselves.

We long for meaning.

For transcendence.

For purpose.

For community.

For forgiveness.

For hope.

For something that convinces us this life is more than simply waking up, paying bills, chasing success, and eventually fading into history.

The question has never been whether people are spiritual.

The question has always been…

What—or whom—do we worship?

Every year, tens of thousands of people travel into Nevada’s Black Rock Desert searching for something they often struggle to describe.

They build a temporary city.

They create extraordinary works of art.

They celebrate radical self-expression.

And on the final night…

they gather around a towering wooden figure engulfed in flames.

Many leave saying they were transformed.

But transformed into what?

That question deserves careful reflection

More Than an Art Festival

Burning Man is often described as an experimental community centered around creativity, participation, and radical self-expression.

Its guiding principles include:

• Radical Inclusion

• Radical Self-Reliance

• Radical Self-Expression

• Participation

• Immediacy

• Communal Effort

• Civic Responsibility

• Leaving No Trace

Many of these ideas, by themselves, are not inherently wrong.

Creativity reflects the image of a creative God.

Serving others is biblical.

Community matters.

Generosity matters.

Christians should recognize and appreciate genuine expressions of human creativity and kindness wherever they are found.

But a worldview is never built on isolated values.

It is built upon the foundation underneath those values.

That is where Christians must exercise discernment.

Humanity’s Search for Transcendence

One of the most fascinating aspects of Burning Man is that participants often describe their experience in deeply spiritual language.

People speak about:

• Awakening

• Transformation

• Sacred space

• Pilgrimage

• Ritual

• Healing

• Rebirth

• Enlightenment

That should not surprise us.

God created every human being with eternity in their heart.

Deep down…

we all know there is something more.

The desire to encounter something beyond ourselves is not wrong.

It is part of how God designed us.

But Scripture also teaches that our search can become misdirected.

Jesus declared:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

— John 14:6

The Gospel teaches that true transformation does not come through symbolic rituals…

or altered states…

or self-created spiritual experiences…

It comes through reconciliation with God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ.

Fire: Two Very Different Stories

The image most associated with Burning Man is, of course…

fire.

The burning of the massive wooden effigy has become the defining symbol of the festival.

Throughout history, fire has carried profound spiritual meaning.

In Scripture, fire often represents:

• God’s holy presence

• Refinement

• Purification

• Judgment

• His glory

At Burning Man, the fire often symbolizes release, personal transformation, letting go of the past, or embracing change.

Those themes resonate emotionally because every human heart longs for renewal.

But Christianity offers something no symbolic ritual ever can.

Real redemption.

Real forgiveness.

Real transformation.

No ceremony can accomplish what Christ accomplished at Calvary.

The cross is not symbolic therapy.

It is God’s finished work for the salvation of mankind.

Radical Self-Expression… or Radical Self?

Perhaps the most recognizable principle of Burning Man is Radical Self-Expression.

Our culture celebrates this idea.

“Be yourself.”

“Live your truth.”

“Follow your heart.”

“Express who you are.”

At first glance, that sounds liberating.

But Scripture presents a radically different invitation.

Jesus said:

“If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.”

— Luke 9:23

Notice the contrast.

The world says…

Express yourself.

Jesus says…

Surrender yourself.

The Gospel does not erase individuality.

Instead, it redeems it.

Our identity is no longer built around ourselves.

It is found in Christ.

The install list.

The Bell They Never Understood

America turns 250 this July.

There will be fireworks.

There will be speeches.

There will be parades down Main Streets that still exist and flags on porches and the kind of celebration a nation puts on when it wants to feel good about itself.

And there is nothing wrong with celebration.

A nation that has endured 250 years has earned the right to mark the moment.

But somewhere beneath the fanfare, if you get quiet enough to feel it, there is something else.

A tension that the fireworks don’t quite drown out.

A gap between what is being declared and what is actually being lived.

Land of the free.

Liberty and justice for all.

Words sung at stadiums and carved into monuments and taught to children who are still learning what they mean.

And yet.

The working family that cannot get ahead no matter how hard they work.

The veteran sleeping under a bridge in the city that threw him a parade.

The mother navigating a system that was never designed to release her.

The land of the free with so many of its people living inside invisible walls. Something that should be ringing over this nation is not ringing.

Something that was meant to flow has stopped.

There is a bell in Philadelphia that has been trying to tell us this for a very long time.

Most Americans know the Liberty Bell by its crack.

A few know it has an inscription.

Almost no one knows the full story of how that inscription got there, or what it actually means.

The bell was commissioned in 1751.

Not for independence. Not for revolution.

It was cast to mark an anniversary; the 50th year of William Penn’s Charter of Privileges for the Pennsylvania colony.

A milestone worth commemorating. A new world experiment in governance that had survived half a century.

The man charged with overseeing the commission was Isaac Norris Jr., Speaker of the Pennsylvania Assembly, a Quaker, and the owner of the largest private collection of Hebrew books in colonial America.

He taught his children to read Hebrew. His daughters too (almost unheard of in 1751).

When Isaac Norris chose the inscription for that bell, he was not browsing a book of inspirational quotes. He was a Hebrew scholar reaching deliberately into the Torah and pulling out a specific verse for a specific reason.

He chose Leviticus 25:10.

“Proclaim LIBERTY Throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants Thereof.”

The bell was cast in London, shipped to Philadelphia, hung in the steeple of the State House. And on the very first stroke of the clapper; the test strike, before it had ever fulfilled the purpose it was cast for, it cracked.

They recast it. Twice.

It cracked again.

The famous fracture that silenced it permanently came in 1846, when the bell was being tolled for George Washington’s birthday.

Its last ring. Then silence.

For a time it sat largely forgotten…so forgotten that at one point the city considered selling it for scrap metal.

Four hundred dollars.

They nearly auctioned it to the highest bidder.

It was not a statesman who rescued it from obscurity.

It was not a politician who gave it its name.

The person who first noticed the inscription and looked up at the forgotten, cracked, nearly-scrapped bell and actually read what was written on it is unknown.

No record. No name.

Just someone, sometime around 1839, who saw what everyone else had walked past, brought the inscription to the abolitionists; the movement fighting to end slavery, and they recognized it immediately.

They named it the Liberty Bell and wielded it as their symbol.

What did they know about deror?

Let’s break open the inscription because what Isaac Norris actually put on that bell is not what most Americans think they know.

The word translated liberty in Leviticus 25:10?

In the original Hebrew it is deror. And deror does not mean liberty the way we use that word: as a condition, a status, a right declared on parchment and celebrated once a year.

Deror comes from a root meaning to move rapidly.

Unobstructed. Uncontained.

It appears first in Scripture in Exodus 30:23 not as a political concept but as an ingredient. The flowing myrrh in the sacred anointing oil. Not the hardened resin. Not the dried sap. The myrrh that runs freely from the tree.

Liquid. Living. Moving.

Deror is what makes the anointing flow. It is a current. And like all currents, it was designed to move.

Deror moves like water through soil.

Where it flows freely…through the land, through the people, through the institutions built to carry it, the ground stays alive.

But dam it. Restrict it. Build systems designed to hold it back.

The soil compacts.

The current has nowhere to go.

And what cannot flow hardens into something unrecognizable: dense, crusted, dry. The heart of a people left parched and thirsting, reaching for the very thing inscribed on their founding bell.

Dam deror and you don’t just lose freedom. You lose the consecration.

Isaac Norris knew this.

He chose a Jubilee verse to mark a fiftieth year because he understood that deror and Jubilee were inseparable. The Jubilee is the fiftieth year God commanded Israel to observe and was the appointed moment for deror to flow without restriction.

Debts canceled. Land returned. Captives released.

The current unclogged. The anointing restored.

“And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year.”

He had those words cast in iron over a new world on the edge of becoming something.

The bell that was cast to carry that current cracked before it could ring.

Went silent in 1846.

Has not rung since.

And the silence of that bell over 180 years is not just a historical footnote. It is a portrait of a nation that inscribed deror on its most iconic symbol and then spent 250 years building systems to prevent it from flowing.

The vessel cracked BUT the word cast into it did not.

And the question the inscription is still asking across 250 years of silence is the same question Isaac Norris encoded in iron in 1752:

What does it take to let deror flow?

The Law of the Seventh

Before there was a nation, there was a rhythm. God built it into creation the way He built rest into the seventh day. Not as suggestion. As architecture.

Every seventh day… rest.

Every seventh year… release.

Every seventh cycle of seven years…total restoration.

This wasn’t Israel’s idea. They didn’t vote on it. It wasn’t negotiated.

It was handed down at Sinai with the same authority as thou shalt not kill.

The Shemitah. The Jubilee. Woven into the fabric of how a covenant nation was supposed to order its life.

“The Shemitah”, the seventh year, demanded three things:

The land rests. That means no planting. No harvesting. What grows on its own belongs to everyone.

Debts cancel. Whatever you owe, whatever is owed to you is released. Wiped. Gone.

Slaves go free. No one remains in bondage past the seventh year.

God was not describing a spiritual principle. He was legislating an economic system.

One designed to do a specific thing:

Prevent the permanent accumulation of everything by a few at the expense of everyone else.

The Jubilee went further.

After seven Shemitahs came the fiftieth year.

Land returned to its original family. Not purchased back. Returned. Because in God’s economy land was never really sold; only leased until the Jubilee.

Every debt. Every bond. Every displacement.

Reversed.

The trumpet sounded on Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

Not New Year’s Day. The Day of Atonement.

Release came through reckoning. You could not have one without the other.

God told Israel plainly what would happen if they ignored the Shemitah.

Leviticus 26 — the land will take its rest anyway. By force if necessary. He wasn’t threatening. He was describing a law as fixed as gravity. Israel ignored the Shemitah for 490 years.

Seventy sabbath years of rest, uncollected.

Then came Babylon and seventy years of exile and the land got its rest.

God keeps His own books. The rhythm God built into creation didn’t stop applying when Israel went into exile. It didn’t stop applying when the Church replaced the Temple.

It didn’t stop applying when a new nation rose on a new continent and stamped deror on a bell it didn’t fully understand.

The Law of the Seventh is still ticking. And America just completed a cycle.

The Threshold

What do you do with a nation that inscribed Jubilee language on its founding symbol before the Revolution, before the Declaration, before any of it, and then built itself on that declaration for 250 years?

What do you do when that nation arrives at an exact Jubilee multiple and has never kept what the inscription required?

The Jubilee wasn’t just a calendar event. It was a covenant marker. And covenants don’t run on calendars.

They run on terms.

Isaac Norris didn’t put Leviticus 25:10 on that bell because it was a Shemitah year. He put it there because he was hallowing a fiftieth year.

A Jubilee declaration over a new governance.

A covenant spoken whether the speakers fully understood it or not.

Words spoken over a nation in God’s own covenant language carry weight that outlasts the intentions of the speaker.

America spoke Jubilee over itself in 1751.

It rang that declaration in 1776.

It has been living under the terms of that covenant, knowingly or not, for 250 years.

And 250 years is five Jubilees.

Exactly.

That is not a coincidence to be explained away.

That is a threshold.

And God who authored the Jubilee, who designed the calendar, who holds every nation accountable to the words spoken over it, notices thresholds.

The question is not whether the math is significant.

The question is what happens to a nation that reaches its fifth Jubilee having kept none of them.

And now here we stand.

America at 250.

Five fiftieth years.

Five times the Jubilee trumpet should have sounded over this land.

Five times deror should have been uncorked and allowed to run freely from sea to shining sea.

And the bell that was cast to carry that current has been silent for 180 years.

The Covenant They Didn’t Know They Were Making

You can invoke something you don’t fully understand and the invocation still stands.

In 1751, Isaac Norris; Hebrew scholar, Quaker, servant of the Pennsylvania Assembly, chose a verse from the Torah and had it cast in iron.

He knew what it meant.

But the nation that would eventually rally around that bell?

They took the word liberty and left the word release sitting in the Hebrew.

They kept the declaration and dropped the demand. This is not a new story. Israel did the same thing at Sinai.

“All that the Lord has spoken, we will do.” Exodus 19:8.

Unanimous. Sincere.

And then the golden calf. And then the high places. And then the ignored Shemitah, seventy of them, that eventually summoned Babylon to collect.

A covenant made in earnest.

Broken in practice.

God held them to the terms anyway.

America’s Founders were a mixed lot. Some were devout. Some were Deists. Some were slaveholders quoting liberty while standing on the necks of the enslaved.

The contradiction was present at the founding. And yet, the language they chose was covenant language.

We hold these truths to be self-evident.

Endowed by their Creator.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

A Creator who endows rights is a Creator who defines them.

You cannot invoke God as the source of liberty and then decide for yourself what liberty requires.

That’s not how covenant works.

The Liberty Bell inscription made it even more explicit.

Proclaim release throughout the land for all its inhabitants.

Not some inhabitants.

Not the inhabitants who qualify.

All.

The covenant had three demands built into it from the beginning.

The land must rest.

The debt must cancel.

The captive must go free.

America has spent 250 years building systems that prevent all three.

The land has not rested.

From the moment European settlement began, the land has been extracted, mined, drilled, clear-cut, chemically saturated, consolidated into the hands of fewer and fewer owners.

The original inhabitants whose relationship to the land was itself a form of stewardship rather than ownership, were displaced, relocated, and dispossessed.

The debt has not canceled.

America carries $36 trillion in national debt.

Its citizens carry $1.1 trillion in credit card debt alone.

Student loans. Medical debt. Generational poverty compounding across decades.

The system was not designed to release debt. It was designed to perpetuate it. Interest upon interest upon interest; the precise opposite of what Jubilee demanded.

The borrower is servant to the lender.

America built its economy on making sure that servitude never ends. The captive has not gone free.

There is a warning in Jeremiah 34 that should give us pause.

King Zedekiah proclaimed deror. Slaves were released. Captives walked free.

And then, they took them back.

Changed their minds and re-enslaved the people they had just released. God’s response was immediate. And He used the same word.

“I now proclaim deror to you; liberty to the sword, to plague, and to famine.”

Same deror. Weaponized.

The flow that was meant to carry life; dammed, crusted, reversed, becomes the current that carries judgment.

Words spoken over a nation in God’s own covenant language carry weight that outlasts the intentions of the speakers.

The record stands whether anyone was keeping it or not.

America spoke Jubilee over itself.

Rang it from a bell.

Declared it to the watching world.

And for 250 years, five complete Jubilee cycles, has not kept the terms.

Which brings us to the only question that matters now. Not what America did with 250 years. But what God requires at the end of them?

What Release Actually Requires

This is the section most people skip.

They read the history. They follow the math. They nod at the covenant.

And then they want to jump straight to hope.

But Jubilee didn’t begin with the celebration. It began with the trumpet.

And the trumpet wasn’t announcing a party. It was announcing a reckoning.

You cannot have the restoration without the audit. So here is the audit.

Not as indictment.

As inventory.

The Land

Leviticus 25 is unambiguous.

“The land must not be sold permanently, because the land is mine and you reside in my land as foreigners and strangers.” Leviticus 25:23.

The Jubilee understanding of land was never ownership. It was stewardship held in trust and then returned to its original family every fifty years.

In America in 2026 the concentration of land tells its own story.

The top 100 private landowners hold more than 40 million acres. Corporate investment firms have entered the residential housing market at scale, purchasing single family homes across entire zip codes and converting them into permanent rental inventory.

The home, the most basic unit of stability, of rootedness, of generational wealth, is becoming a financial instrument held by entities that will never live in it.

The dynamic the Jubilee was specifically designed to prevent, permanent consolidation upward, is the operating model of the modern American land economy.

And beneath all of it sits a question this nation has never formally answered.

The land’s original stewards — the ones here before the bell was cast, before the Declaration was signed, before the covenant was invoked were displaced without the kind of reckoning Jubilee would have required.

That account remains open.

The Debt

The Shemitah released debt completely.

Not restructured. Not refinanced.

Released.

Because a debt that cannot be canceled becomes something else entirely. It becomes a chain passed from one generation to the next, not by choice but by inheritance.

America’s national debt has crossed $36 trillion.

It is not a number anyone seriously intends to repay.

It is a number the next generation will inherit along with the interest.

Student loans. Credit card balances. Medical bills.

$1.77 trillion. The leading cause of personal bankruptcy in the wealthiest nation in human history.

The system was not broken into this shape. It was built this shape.

And then there is the tax that appears on no ledger but functions exactly like debt.

Inflation.

The quiet erosion of purchasing power that falls heaviest on those with the least margin.

When the cost of eggs, rent, and fuel rises faster than wages the gap between what people earn and what life costs becomes its own form of bondage.

Scarcity that is not accidental.

Resources that exist: energy, food, housing is managed, restricted, priced beyond reach for the many while consolidating further into the hands of the few.

Deror was designed to interrupt exactly this dynamic.

The Jubilee reset was not just spiritual. It was structural.

A divine circuit breaker against the permanent accumulation of everything by those whoalready have enough.

The Captive

The Jubilee’s third demand was release for the captive.

Not a criminal category.

An economic one.

The person whose freedom is owned by someone else.

The family whose circumstances became their sentence.

The child released into nothing.

In America in 2026 captivity wears many faces.

The family three generations deep in a zip code with failing schools, no generational wealth, no access to capital, and no pathway out that doesn’t require extraordinary effort just to reach the starting line everyone else began at. The captivity renews automatically. No seventh year interrupts it.

The 20,000 young people who age out of foster care every year; released at 18 with no family, no safety net, no foundation beneath them. The state that held them simply opens the door. What they walk into is not freedom. It is exposure. Efforts like the Fostering Youth Initiative are beginning to address this gap.

And then there are those whose captivity is most visible and most devastating; the hundreds of thousands living on the streets, ensnared by addiction, or caught in the machinery of trafficking. Bodies and lives owned by a substance or by someone who profits from their bondage. In plain sight. On every American city’s streets.

This is what a nation looks like at its fifth Jubilee threshold having never let deror flow freely.

Not a condemnation.

An observation.

Which h brings a question. What would it look like to let deror flow in your own life?

Not waiting for a national policy.

Not waiting for a system to change.

Just you. Right where you are. With what you already have.

What Deror Looks Like in a Life

The Jubilee was always practiced household by household before it was declared nationally.

Families who kept the Shemitah by letting the field rest, forgiving the debt, and releasing the servant were not waiting for a national movement. They were simply living as though God meant what He said.

That is the invitation at 250 years.

Not to fix what only God can reset.

But to let deror move through the space you actually occupy.

It might look like forgiving a debt someone owes you.

Or releasing a grudge that has been compounding heavy interest in your chest for years.

Bitterness is its own form of debt bondage.

Deror moves through forgiveness the way water moves through open soil.

It might look like how you spend your money. Choosing to steward rather than accumulate. Holding what you have loosely as a caretaker, not an owner.

It might look like showing up for the foster kid aging out. The neighbor drowning in medical debt. The woman trying to exit a situation she cannot name out loud yet.

You don’t have to fix the system.

You just have to be the seventh year for one person.

This July. In this year.

At the threshold of America’s 250th. The bell is silent.

But deror was never contained in the bell. It was always meant to flow through the people.

Has the Trumpet Already Sounded?

On Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, the shofar sounded. A ram’s horn blast that split the air and announced to everyone within earshot:

The Jubilee has begun. What was taken is being returned. What was owed is being released. What was bound is walking free.

The trumpet didn’t ask if the nation was ready.

It didn’t wait for consensus.

It sounded.

And the sounding itself was the announcement that God’s economy was overriding man’s economy.

Whether man cooperated or not.

Consider what we now know about deror.

It first appears as flowing myrrh; the anointing that moves without obstruction.

It is proclaimed over the Jubilee land: release, restoration, the current set free.

It is the word Isaiah 61 uses:

“He has sent Me to proclaim deror to the captives.”

And Jesus stood in the synagogue at Nazareth, unrolled the scroll, read those words, and said:

“Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Deror is not only Old Testament covenant law. It is the mission statement of Christ.

What the bell cracked trying to carry, the cross held without breaking.

Consider what it took for the Liberty Bell to become the Liberty Bell.

It had to go silent first.

The vessel stopped functioning. The word written on it never did.

Sometimes God silences the instrument so the message can finally be heard.

The bell is silent. Deror is not.

It is moving freely through every household that forgives a debt, every hand that opens instead of clutches, every life that chooses release when the culture chooses accumulation.

Person to person.

The way it always has.

The way it always will.

The Year of Release has begun.

Not because America declared it.
