Busy, busy, busy…that’s what we’ve been this Summer.

But the great news is that we just offered for a wonderful Historical Fiction/Romance novel by an international author who wants to spread her wings and share her stories with the U.S. in English. We’ll definitely tell you more if all goes well and she becomes an official 𝓣𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓟𝓪𝓰𝓮 𝓟𝓾𝓫𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 author!✒️📜🥰

Some more very good news is that we also just received our very first Romantic Suspense submission!☠️ Have we mentioned how much we love Romantic Suspense and how sad we’ve been that more hasn’t come in? But you can color us happy now!😃

And finally, we have been 📺WATCHING📺 and enjoying the first episodes of the new television series Anna Pigeon, based on the book series by Nevada Barr. Is anyone else watching this great show? (And totally cheering on Anna as she fights for wildlife and the environment!🌲🦁🐻🦌🫎♻️💚) Let us know what you think so far!

We’re not gonna lie…things are piling up over here at 𝓣𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓟𝓪𝓰𝓮 𝓟𝓾𝓫𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰.📚 And that’s a good thing. New authors! Wonderful new books we’re so excited to share! Except that we can’t keep up with all the work ahead of us.😬

WE NEED EDITORS to help shoulder the load. But you’ve gotta be a good editor…like really good. Fun and kind and flexible, but also a little OCD about grammar and flow and cadence in a story. Letting the author’s voice shine while also polishing a manuscript until it sparkles!✨

Here’s the down side: we can’t pay you.😔 I know—bummer. And a lot to ask of anyone. But 𝓣𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓟𝓪𝓰𝓮 is a (very) fledgling company, just trying to get off the ground, and our budget is 0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣. (That’s triple zero; two levels below nothing.😢)

Everyone currently on our staff is a volunteer—or as we like to call them “intern,”—and we need more!

So if you’re looking for some experience and would like to intern with us…or maybe you’re retired and in the mood for a new hobby…or even if you’re mostly just a reader, but have a background in some form of English/Literature/Editing and have always been just a little bit somber about wanting to fix mistakes in books/magazines/newspapers…we might be for you!🧩

Summer is here, and we’ve been busy.

Actually, we’ve been 𝐇𝐎𝐓!🔥 Our air conditioning went kaput, so of course Mother Nature decided that now would be a great time to send a heat wave with humidity at about 1000%. Not to be dramatic or anything, but 𝑤𝑒 𝑎𝑟𝑒 𝑑𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔!!!🥵

We have been busy, though. Currently, we’re working to put together two anthologies: one 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆 and one 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝑹𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆. The stories we’ve collected already are so good, but we do have room for more. So if you enjoy writing novella-length romance, send your ideas our way! We’ve also added a new first/beta reader to our staff in hopes of shortening the turnaround time on submissions. She’s a fast reader and wonderful at analyzing stories and writing, so now we just have to try to keep up with her.😁

𝓣𝓗𝓘𝓢 𝓦𝓔𝓔𝓚 — or should we say this month?🤪 — we are obsessed with musicals.🎶 Over and over, we keep 𝖶𝖠𝖳𝖢𝖧𝖨𝖭𝖦 and/or 𝖫𝖨𝖲𝖳𝖤𝖭𝖨𝖭𝖦 𝖳𝖮 Moulin Rouge, Rock of Ages, Bohemian Rhapsody, and Something Rotten. There seems to be no rhyme or reason, we just get caught up in the songs, then start wiggling our butts and singing along. We may even add the Pitch Perfect trilogy to the mix soon — who knows? Just one of those things that keeps us quirky, we guess.🕺

We are also 𝖱𝖤𝖵𝖨𝖤𝖶𝖨𝖭𝖦 a lot of Women’s Fiction submissions, and as much as we enjoy them…and know readers enjoy them…we really wish we were getting a better mix of all the Romance has to offer.👩‍❤️‍💋‍👨

Where are those sexy Contemporaries with their cowboy, firefighter, cop, et al heroes and sassy, brassy heroines?

Where are the twists and turns of nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat Romantic Suspense?

Where’s the sigh-worthy Historical Romance that runs from medieval to Regency to the Wild West, but always keeps us turning pages?

Or all of the incredible otherworldly options in Paranormal and Romantasy?

On the heels of Harlequin’s announcement that they’re closing down their Historical Romance line, we here at 𝓣𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓽𝓱𝓮 𝓟𝓪𝓰𝓮 𝓟𝓾𝓫𝓵𝓲𝓼𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰 are realizing how very much we LOVE Historical Romance!💕

We’re not sure why so many publishers are turning up their noses at Historical Romance right now, but we believe there’s still a place for it in Readers’ hearts. Over a million Bridgerton and Outlander viewers can’t be wrong, can they?🤔 No, they can’t…and neither are we.

We love to read it and would absolutely adore acquiring more of it!

We’re still playing catch-up from the holidays…how about you?

We’ve been EATING the last of the Christmas cookies while finishing up our holiday READING: Coming Home for Christmas by RaeAnne Thayne, A Seduction at Christmas by Cathy Maxwell, and the Christmas Eve Cowboy anthology. Covering all the bases with a contemporary, a historical, and a cowboy collection.😉

And our holiday WATCHING: classics like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas; all-time faves like Scrooged and Prep and Landing; and some new-to-us movies like Thanksgiving (yes, we finally finished it), Black Christmas, and Violent Night. While Thanksgiving was only eh, we really liked Black Christmas and loooooooved Violent Night.

But while the busiest holidays may be behind us, we are still WISHING FOR holiday submissions. 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒚 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒔 of just about every kind are always welcome, and we’d love to put together a collection of holiday novellas to release (with luck) later this year. READING ~ We’re dipping into the holiday reads already, working on Delores Fossen’s “Christmas Creek Cowboy” and 'Tis the Season to Be Sinful by Adrienne Basso.

WATCHING ~ We haven’t started our holiday viewing yet because we’re still stuck on Halloween movies—The Nun II to be specific. But we do hope to watch Thanksgiving for…well, Thanksgiving. Yes, it’s another horror flick, but how can we not when it’s got the holiday’s name right on it!?! :o

REVIEWING ~ We’ve gotten some intriguing submissions recently. At the moment, we’re looking at a Christmas short and a Historical Fiction proposal set in the Deep South.

EDITING ~ This is where the hard work sets in. Gotta keep your eyes peeled and be at the top of your game for editing. But we’re making our way through Liz Flaherty’s Pieces of Blue (the first book in her “Harper Loch” trilogy) and Corrina Lawson’s “The Brightest Shade” novella for an upcoming Paranormal anthology.

WISHING FOR ~ a computer genius to figure out what the heck is wrong with our Facebook pages! It’s still a cluster you-know-what and we still have no idea why. But please bear with us…we’re trying! :’(
