Also on a musical note, Saturday brings Local Music Fest: The Raven at the Wildwood Room. They’ll have plenty of live music, other forms of creative expression, and family-friendly activities.

With schools starting back up, regular school-year programming is resuming as well. Keep an eye out for storytimes returning to Valley of the Tetons Library, plus the Teton County Library locations in Alta and Jackson.

There’s also a cute movie opening at Pieree’s on Friday - Coyote vs. Acme, where Wile E. Coyote fights back against the company that’s been getting him for years.

Upcoming: Bloom Pediatric Therapy is hosting a Baby & Me Playtime on Wednesday mornings in September (starting next week, September 9th) for crawlers and pre-walkers, ages 6 weeks to 15 months. Check it out and pre-register if you’re interested!

Okay—this week on Saturday, if you have a monster truck lover, you could head over to Rexburg for the Monster X Tour! In the evening, Grand Teton Brewing is hosting PAWSFEST 2026 to celebrate our local animal shelter—there’s a raffle, food and drink for purchase, some animals, and a great place for kiddos to run around.

The rest of the week looks rather light as many of us gear up for school starting. The Farmers Markets are bursting with good produce right now, though, and Alta is hosting our favorite Baby and Story Hours later in the week.

I don’t know about you, but I'm already feeling a mix of relief for calmer schedules and bittersweet summer nostalgia! While the weather stays nice, be sure to revisit our playground lowdown from last spring OR head up to the Targhee Pool (call ahead to purchase a pass), which stays open until September 13th.

On Sunday, you have two great musical options to choose from: grab a bite at the Big Hole Arts Sunday Brunch at Victor City Park from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM, or head over to Teton Village for Wreckless Strangers as part of the Concert on the Commons series. If you haven't made it out to Teton Village yet, this free Sunday concert series runs all summer long!

The libraries are keeping the kids entertained all week, starting over at the Teton County Library in Jackson. Pop by on Tuesday for Bubbletime in the Yard right after storytime, or drop in for Water Wednesdays to cool off in the heat. Over at the Alta branch, you can catch the fan-favorite Baby Time on Thursday and Story Time on Friday. Plus, the Valley of the Tetons Library and the Grand Teton Music Festival are teaming up once again for another Musical Adventure—this time back in Victor. These interactive sessions are super fun for all ages, so don't miss out!

To round out what is shaping up to be a gorgeous week, be sure to catch our local Farmers Markets and Music on Main.

Didn’t make it over to the Teton County Fair in Jackson yet? You still have time! The carnival is open from 2 PM to midnight on both Saturday and Sunday, and the Blue Ribbon Exhibit Hall is open from 9 AM to 5 PM.

If you have bike-loving kids, check out the Teton Valley Backyard Rally on Saturday. It’s a gravel bike race based out of Sherman Park in Victor, featuring a kids' race at 2 PM for ages 4 to 11 on striders or pedal bikes, plus food trucks on site to keep everyone fueled up. Over in Alta on Saturday, the library is hosting Chompsaws Saturday. Kids can make cool 3D projects using dinosaur templates—a super fun activity for slightly older littles! Plus, a trip to the Alta library is always such a treat.

Monday marks the kickoff of the Driggs Plein Air Art Festival, starting strong with a Downtown Sounds concert. There are events happening all week long, culminating in final voting on Friday, which arty kids will absolutely love.

This week also brings our very own Teton Valley Fair: Stars, Stripes, and Summer Nights! There’s a ton happening, so definitely check out their website to plan your week. A few kid-friendly highlights to star on your calendar include Pig Wranglin’ (Monday evening), the Exhibit Hall (open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM), the Hispanic Resource Center Dance Party (Wednesday evening), Storytime with Valley of the Tetons Library (Thursday at 10 AM), and the Horse Pull (Thursday evening). I’ll share the following weekend’s lineup—like Storytime with Animals on Saturday, the Figure 8 races, and lawnmower races—in next week’s calendar!

After storytime on Tuesday, head over to Victor City Park, where Valley of the Tetons Library is hosting their Summer Reading Celebration with activities, treats, and fun for all ages. Then on Wednesday, the Grand Teton Music Festival is back for another Musical Adventure in Tetonia.

Finally, if you’re looking for something sweet for the youngest crew, Musicland JH is hosting a Music Together class on Friday mornings from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the Summit School of the Arts. There are a few weeks left in the session, so check out musiclandjh.org to learn more and register.

Also, head up to Alta on Saturday for Chompsaw Saturday at the Teton County Library (Alta branch). They are hosting a session to make 3D projects with dinosaur templates, which is a fantastic, hands-on activity for slightly older kiddos.

On Sunday, consider heading to the World Cup Final Watch Party at Penny’s Pub at Moose Creek. If your kids are anything like mine, they might be suddenly soccer-obsessed (even after refusing to even try the sport last fall!). The best part is that Penny’s location at Moose Creek Ranch is an awesome spot for kids to run around, play in the big fields, and splash by the creek.

On Monday, the Downtown Sounds Concert is hosting a special collaborative performance, partnering with the Grand Teton Music Festival (GTMF) and the Teton Valley Chamber Music Festival (TVCMF). This is always a wonderfully relaxed, open venue for kids to dance and enjoy live music.

On Wednesday, the Teton County Library in Jackson is hosting Dig Into Nature, a fantastic, educational summer program in partnership with the National Elk Refuge.

Wednesday also marks the grand opening of the Teton County Fair in Jackson, Wyoming! If your kids live for carnival rides and fair food, it is worth the trip over the pass. You can explore the Blue Ribbon Exhibit Hall to see all the amazing local animals, or time your visit for the legendary Pig Wrestling on Thursday at 7:00 PM. The carnival itself runs Wednesday through Friday from 5:00 PM to midnight, and Saturday and Sunday from 2:00 PM to midnight.

Of course, we also have our usual staple events like local story hours, farmers markets, Music on Main, and Nona’s Kid Market to round out another jam-packed summer week in Teton Valley. Looking ahead, make sure to mark your calendars because next week is the Teton County Idaho Fair! Get ready for our own Blue Ribbon exhibits, pig wrestling, and community fun. Stay tuned for details!

Or head over the hill to the Teton County Library’s Foam Party! My town had one of these growing up, and it was always a summer highlight for me. They suggest bringing goggles, a towel, and a change of clothes. Given the temperatures projected for this weekend, it sounds absolutely perfect! 🫧

Also happening this weekend is the ACT Foundation’s summer performance of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka at Teton High School. They have evening performances on Saturday and Sunday, plus a 3:00 PM matinee on Sunday. A cool theater and a kid-friendly story featuring local performers? Sounds great.

ACT Foundation Presents: Willy Wonka 2026

Or, honestly? Say “no thanks” to the crowds and head straight out on the river or the trails. The weather is looking pretty perfect for our country’s 250th birthday!

There are tons of other awesome (though not strictly kid-centric, but totally family-friendly) events happening this weekend, like live music, the rodeo, and arts & crafts fairs. Get out there and check them out!

We are officially in full summer swing, and the calendar is packed all week long. For your library fix, you can join the Valley of the Tetons Library for their classic Storytime or join for STREAM in the Park. There is also the Musical Adventure in Driggs, which is an awesome collaboration with the Grand Teton Music Festival. If you feel like heading over the hill to Jackson, the Teton County Library is hosting the National Elk Refuge Dig into Nature program.

Don’t forget to stock up at the Driggs Farmers Market and Nona’s Market for your fresh summer goodies, or head up to Alta Library for their baby and story times. Music on Main will be back and rocking next week, too!

You can head west to Swan Valley for the 2026 Swan Valley Car Show, featuring cars, bikes, local art, and food trucks. If you want to head east instead, make your way to Jackson for the JiggleJam Family Concert at the Teton County Library. Toy Story 5 is also still screening at Pierre’s Theater, and the rain sure makes a movie day a nice backup plan!

Looking ahead, a few super fun events are coming up later in the week. On Wednesday, the Valley of the Tetons Library is bringing the Grand Teton Music Festival to Victor City Park for a special "Musical Adventures" performance. Then, on Thursday, the Teton Valley Balloon Rally starts bright and early! Consider swapping your usual Music on Main routine that night for the Rally Up & Get Down party at the Fairgrounds, which will have plenty of food, face paint, and hot air balloons. Finally, Friday brings the first Nona’s Corner Kid Market, which sounds like a great opportunity for young entrepreneurs and shoppers alike.

There’s even more to look forward to over the actual holiday weekend, so I’ll try to post early next week for those who like to plan ahead a bit!

We’ve also got a big week of music ahead with Music on Main and Downtown Sounds happening back‑to‑back on Thursday and Friday.

And since Father’s Day is on Sunday, there’s an extra fun way to celebrate: the Teton Valley Collaborative for Early Learning’s Family Party at Grand Teton Brewing. Expect yard games, kids’ activities, live music, and food and drinks available for purchase. A perfect low‑key way to spend the afternoon with the whole crew.

Round it out with story times and the Farmers Market, and you’ve got yourself a pretty lovely little summer week in Teton Valley.

Also on Saturday, Fall River Electric’s Energy Expo takes over Teton High School. Members can vote for their Co‑Op Board, but it’s also a full family morning with bucket truck rides, a bounce house, a climbing wall, STEM activities, and breakfast. If you need to burn some energy before naptime, this is the place.

Across the hill, Teton County Library in Jackson is hosting its big summer reading kickoff, the “Great Big Dino Kickoff,” from 11 to 1. Expect all the dino‑themed fun your littles can handle.🦖

On Monday, Downtown Driggs Association brings Dr. Charles Peterson to the Teton Valley Welcome Center for “Snake Encounters!” from 2 to 4 pm. It’ll be fascinating for the reptile-loving kiddos!🐍

And then Thursday marks our first Music on Main of the season—a sure sign that summer is officially rolling.

A quick note: Alta Library Story Hour will not take place on Friday, June 19, in observance of Juneteenth.

Also on Friday, the second Downtown Sounds concert is happening with the Will Baxter Band. Art Taco will be serving up the eats, and if you were anywhere near the plaza last week, you know it was a very good time for littles and bigs alike.

June 1–6 also marks Flood 50, a weeklong commemoration a little farther afield (in Rexburg) of the 50th anniversary of the Teton Dam Flood. Each day offers a different way to learn about this major moment in our region’s history.

Two hallmark summer traditions kick off on Friday: the first Driggs Farmers Market (don’t miss the mud kitchen on the south side of the Driggs Center) and the first Downtown Sounds concert—bring a blanket or chair and settle in.

With summer nipping at our heels, a quick camp reminder: several programs still have space for Littles (5 and under), including Above and Beyond the Classroom, Learning Academy, Mountain Academy, Summit School for the Arts, and Targhee’s offerings.

Shared by another Teton Valley Littles parent—most of these are for ages 6+—Grand Targhee has three options worth knowing about. Dirt Crew Bike Camp (ages 6–9 and 10–12) offers skill‑building mountain biking with shuttle stops in Driggs and Alta. Fred’s Adventure Camp (ages 6–12) runs weekly themed outdoor adventures, from wilderness skills to science and creative challenges, with the same shuttle convenience and discounts for season passholders. And for the Littles, Huckleberry Patch Daycare (ages 2–5) offers full‑day or morning‑half‑day care with crafts, outdoor play, and rotating weekly themes.

Finally, a thank you to the climbing gym, which closed up shop this week. So many Littles adored the Littles Climb—thank you for giving our kids such a fun indoor option!

On Memorial Day itself, it’s a great time to head over the hill to the Teton County Rec Center or Astoria Hot Springs—both are open and a fun change of pace.

The rest of the week brings all the usual activities, but keep an eye out for shifting schedules as we switch to summer mode in June. I’ll do my best to track everything, but please send any updates my way—Instagram, Substack comments, Facebook… whatever’s easiest.
