Nothing stays the same forever. We see it in nature, and we feel it in our own hearts. Yet, most of us spend our lives searching for a feeling of lasting peace—a quiet place where we can finally rest and know that everything will be okay.

When good times come, we want them to stay forever. We feel a warm light inside us when we laugh with friends, achieve something important, or feel deeply loved. In those moments, we wish we could pause time. But slowly, as the hours and days pass, that high feeling gently fades away.

When joy leaves, it can make us feel a little sad. We sometimes think we did something wrong, or that we should have tried harder to hold onto that good feeling.

The truth is, happiness was never meant to stay forever.

Think about how light works. If it were bright outside all day and all night, we would never get to see the stars. We would forget how special the sunshine really feels. Happiness is precious because it comes and goes. Knowing that a happy moment will not last forever does not mean we should be sad about it. Instead, it teaches us to appreciate it fully while it is here. When joy visits you, enjoy it, hold it gently, and thank it for coming.

The most important part of this truth, however, is that the opposite is also true: sadness does not stay forever, either.

When we are hurt, lonely, or going through a hard time, sorrow feels heavy. It sits in the room with us like an unwanted guest that refuses to leave. Hard times have a way of tricking our minds. They make us believe that tomorrow will be just as painful as today. They make us forget that we ever felt happy, and they try to convince us that things will never get better.

If you are carrying a heavy heart right now, please remember this: the darkness is not telling you the truth.

Sadness is just a storm passing through your life. It is not who you are, and it is not where your story ends.

Look at how trees live through the year. In the autumn, they lose all their leaves. In the winter, they stand bare and cold in the wind. To someone who has never seen a spring, the trees might look dead. But beneath the cold soil, the roots are alive and working. The trees are simply resting, waiting, and preparing for new life to grow again.

Your heart works the very same way. Hard times are deeply uncomfortable, but they also teach us how to be gentle, patient, and strong. Pain clears out space inside us so that we can feel even greater joy when good days return. You cannot have a soft, caring heart without feeling the different seasons of life.

To be human means feeling a little bit of everything—the bright sunshine and the cool rain, the easy laughs and the quiet tears. You do not have to be happy all the time to live a good life.

When you feel good, enjoy the warmth without worrying about when it will end. And when you feel down, do not fight yourself for feeling sad. Treat yourself with kindness. Take a slow breath and remind yourself that this hard moment will pass.

No night has ever lasted forever, and the sun always comes back up. Better days are on their way to you, just like they always have been.

Subscribe now

Action Builds Hope, Not Vice Versa

Just as they say, Actions speak louder than words.

Ara

Every morning, millions of people wake up to a subtle, persistent weight in their chest. It is not necessarily a physical illness or a sudden crisis, but rather the quiet, modern epidemic of feeling stuck. You might be working a job that drains your creative energy, staring at financial burdens that seem impossible to clear, or recovering from a personal setback that shattered your self-belief. In a world that moves at an unrelenting pace, the feeling of falling behind or being trapped in place is one of the most pervasive real-life problems of our time.

When you are stuck, the future stops looking like a landscape of possibilities and starts looking like a repetitive loop. You look around, and social media presents a curated highlight reel of everyone else accelerating forward: promotions, new homes, effortless successes, and endless smiles. Meanwhile, your own story feels stalled on the same frustrating chapter. The natural reaction to this gap is paralysis. We wait for a sudden wave of inspiration, a life-changing windfall, or an ideal set of circumstances before we take action. We tell ourselves we will start when we feel ready, when the timing is right, or when the heavy feeling subsides.

The single greatest misconception about human potential is that motivation comes before action. We treat motivation like a magical spark that strikes out of nowhere, forcing us into motion. In reality, motivation operates in reverse: action comes first, and motivation follows closely behind.

Consider how momentum works in nature. A heavy train requires immense energy to move its very first inch. The wheels slip, the engine roars, and the progress looks imperceptibly slow. But once that massive object moves a few feet, then a few yards, the physics change. Momentum takes over, and soon the very same train cuts through the countryside effortlessly. Human effort works on the exact same principle. When you are standing completely still, every goal looks like a mountain. The moment you take one small step, the landscape shifts, and the path forward becomes clearer.

Giving yourself hope does not require you to solve your biggest life problems today. It only requires you to make one micro-move.

If your career feels stagnant, you do not need to quit your job and launch a new business by tonight. You simply need to update one paragraph of your resume, send a message to a colleague, or spend fifteen minutes learning a new skill. If your home or personal life feels chaotic, you do not need to overhaul your entire lifestyle in one grand gesture. You simply need to clean off a single desk, walk for ten minutes, or write down three things that are bothering you so they stop taking up space in your head.

These small acts seem trivial, almost too small to matter. Yet, their true value is not just in the practical task completed, but in the signal they send to your brain. Each action is a vote of confidence in yourself. It is proof that you are no longer a passive bystander in your own life, but an active participant capable of steering the wheel.

Hope is not a passive wish that things will magically get better on their own. Hope is an active discipline. It is the conscious decision to believe that your current situation is a temporary state, not your permanent identity. A bad chapter does not mean the book is over; it simply means the narrative is undergoing a transition.

Every person you admire, every individual who has achieved lasting fulfillment or overcome profound adversity, has experienced periods where they felt completely defeated. The difference between those who remain trapped and those who transform their circumstances is rarely genius, luck, or innate talent. It is the willingness to embrace the messiness of small beginnings, to keep moving when the progress feels invisible, and to trust that small, daily efforts compound over time into massive transformations.

It is easy to look at a massive problem and feel entirely powerless. But power is rarely found in grand, sweeping gestures. Power lives in the quiet, unglamorous choices you make on ordinary Tuesdays when no one is watching. It is found in choosing to read ten pages instead of scrolling endlessly. It is found in choosing to save a small amount of money, to speak to yourself with compassion instead of harsh judgment, or to try one more time after a disappointment.

If you are reading this while feeling overwhelmed, take a deep breath and give yourself permission to drop the weight of trying to fix everything at once. You do not need to figure out the next five years, the next five months, or even the next five weeks. You only need to navigate the next five minutes.

Ask yourself one simple question: What is the smallest positive step I can take right now?

Once you answer that question, go do it. Do it despite the hesitation, do it despite the fear, and do it even if it feels small. The momentum you create today, no matter how tiny, will build the confidence you need tomorrow. Your current situation is just the starting point of your next chapter, not the end of your story. Move one inch forward today, and watch how the horizon opens up before you.

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" It was never enough, not because she didn’t try, but because there just wasn’t enough to go around. And my father, instead of being the shelter our house needed, was often the storm inside it.

There were fights. Loud ones. The kind that make a kid go quiet and small, hoping if they don’t move, they won’t be noticed. And then there was the night I’ll never fully put into words the way it deserves: my father picked up an axe, and for a moment, my mother’s life hung in a place no child should ever have to watch it hang.

Thanks for reading! She’s alive. I’m grateful for that every single day of my life, in a way most people will never have to be grateful for something so basic, that their mother is still breathing.

I don’t say that for shock value. I say it because I think a lot of us are carrying a version of that moment, a memory we’ve never fully said out loud, a night we survived that changed the shape of who we became. And most of us walk around acting like it never happened, because that felt safer than looking at it directly.

For years, I did the same thing. I got good at pretending the house I grew up in was normal. I got good at smiling in front of people who had no idea what quiet I went home to. That kind of performance is exhausting in a way that’s hard to explain to someone who’s never had to do it.

But that moment didn’t leave me untouched. It planted something in me. Not just fear, though there was plenty of that, but a question that’s followed me ever since:

If I saw what I saw, and felt what I felt, what kind of person am I going to choose to become?

The lie poverty and pain tell you

When you grow up broke and afraid, the world quietly hands you a story about yourself. It tells you that where you come from is where you’ll stay. It tells you that chaos is normal, that love is supposed to hurt, that the noise you grew up in is just “how things are.”

I want to be honest with you: I believed that story for a long time. Not because I was weak but because it was the only story anyone had shown me.

But somewhere along the way, I stopped accepting it as the final word.

What actually got me through — not the highlight reel, the real practice

I’m not going to pretend I have some perfect formula. What I have are habits, small, unglamorous, repeated things that I return to on the days I don’t feel strong.

Prayer. Not as a performance, but as the one place I could be completely honest without being judged or hurt for it. Some nights it was just, “I don’t understand this, but I’m still here.” That was enough.

Journaling. I write down what actually happened in a day, not the polished version. The fear, the anger, the small wins. Putting it on paper took things out of my head and made them small enough to look at without drowning in them.

Reading. Other people’s words, other people’s survival, reminded me I wasn’t the only one who’d stood in a dark room and had to decide what to do next. Books gave me language for things I didn’t have words for yet.

There’s also something I don’t talk about as much: choosing my environment on purpose. I got intentional about who I let close to me, people who were building something, who spoke to each other with respect, who showed me arguments could end without violence. I studied normal, functional relationships the way other people study a subject in school, because nobody taught me what that looked like at home. I had to go find it.

None of these fixed my childhood. They didn’t erase what I saw. What they did was give me somewhere to put the weight, a little at a time, instead of carrying it all at once, alone, in silence.

If you’re in your own version of that house right now

Maybe your father never held an axe. Maybe your pain looks completely different, a mother who couldn’t cope, a home with no money and no warmth, a memory you still can’t say out loud. It doesn’t matter if your story looks like mine. What matters is this:

You are not required to become what almost broke you.

You don’t need to have it all figured out today. You don’t need a five-year plan or a perfect morning routine. You need one small, honest action:

Write one true sentence about how you actually feel.

Say one honest prayer, even if you’re not sure who’s listening.

Read one page that reminds you someone else made it through.

Tell one person the thing you’ve been carrying alone.

That’s it. That’s the whole method. Small, repeated, honest actions, done on the days you don’t feel like it, especially on those days.

I’m not writing this because I have it all together. I’m writing this because I’m still here, still choosing, day by day, to build something different from what I came from. And if a kid who watched what I watched can still choose prayer over bitterness, a journal over silence, and one more small step over giving up, so can you.

Keep going. Not because it’s easy. Because you’ve already survived harder than most people will ever understand. That’s not nothing. That’s proof.

Thanks for reading! Though at the same time I never knew where to start. There was just too much I wanted to do, but whatever I did never satisfied me. I have used Instagram, Tiktok and Twitter but they are designed for instant gratification. I would get a few likes that would spike my dopamine and at the end of the day, it would all crash. The next day, the cycle would repeat.

I have struggled with phone addiction and I still find it hard sometimes to open my phone and not go straight to socials to scroll but we all start somewhere right? I am starting here though.

I loved what has been and I love my current but I love my future more. Hence, I want to leave the rat race and start making something of my own. Hence I am starting this page as a proof of my love for writing. I’m sure cause I know myself the best. No one knows you like God first and you yourself second.
