Not because you need to reinvent yourself overnight but because the version of you that existed before no longer has the same needs, rhythms, or priorities.

And if you keep dressing for a life you no longer live, you will feel that disconnect every single day.

I’ve had to look at my wardrobe differently recently.

Not as a collection of pieces I once loved, but as a system. A system that either supports my current life… or works against it. Because style, at its core, is functional. It’s not just expression, it’s persona infrastructure. It determines how quickly you can get out the door. How confident you feel walking into a room. How much energy you spend deciding, second-guessing, adjusting. And during a rebuild, your energy is already being pulled in too many directions.

You don’t have the capacity for a closet that creates more friction.

What I’ve realized is this:

During a rebuild, your style should make your life easier, not more complicated. It should reduce decision fatigue, not add to it. It should ground you, not overwhelm you. It should reflect who you are becoming, not keep you attached to who you used to be.

So I started editing everything. Not impulsively. Not emotionally. But strategically.

What I keep. What I wear. What I reach for without thinking. What actually works for my days as they exist now. I started paying attention to my patterns. The pieces I rely on when I need to feel pulled together quickly. The outfits that carry me through long, unpredictable days. The textures, silhouettes, and colors that feel grounded, not performance.

And just as importantly, the things I was holding onto out of habit. The clothes I had for a version of my life that required something different from me. Pieces that looked good in theory but created hesitation in practice. Items that belonged to a past identity I no longer needed to maintain.

Letting those go wasn’t about minimalism. It was about alignment. Because when your external world feels uncertain, your internal and physical environments matter more. Your wardrobe becomes one of the few places where you can create consistency. Where you can remove friction. Where you can decide, ahead of time, who you are going to be that day, without renegotiating it every morning.

I’m not rebuilding my style for aesthetics alone. I’m rebuilding it for deeper internal clarity. For ease. For the version of my life I am actively creating, not the one I left behind. AND THAT has changed the way I get dressed more than anything else ever has.

I’ve also started a little experiment on Instagram called “In My Closet”, where I share what I’m actually wearing day to day; what stays, what I edit out, and why certain pieces make it into rotation.

It’s not about trends. It’s not about perfection. It’s about creating a wardrobe that supports my current life, and gives me one less thing to think about when everything else feels uncertain.

Where I’m at now:

I hate taking pictures of myself.

Not in a self-esteem way. In a I have lived too much life for this angle way.

Somewhere between outfit changes and “can you just grab one more?” I realized… I am tired of looking at my own face.

I want to live the moment.

Not frame it.

Not crop it.

Not edit it.

Just… exist in it.

The irony, of course, is that I built a career doing exactly this. And I’m good at it. Very good.

But there is something deeply funny about evolving into a woman who loves her life more than she loves documenting it.

Growth?

Maybe.

Or maybe I just need to use the new tripod my partner got me for Christmas.
