No, the results of the August 2026 county general election does not mean Tennessee is turning blue. It means we have a odd election system with an unnecessary number of elections that confuses voters. Democrats are effectively hacking this unusual system by turning out more motivated local-election voters. August 6 was a major wake-up call for Republicans, though.

Tennessee runs three planned elections every even-numbered year. Most states hold just two: a primary and a November general election. In Tennessee, county candidates face a primary in May (gubernatorial years) or March (presidential years). The August county general election is timed to coincide with the state and federal primaries. Finally, the state and federal general election occurs in November. To top it off, the August election falls on a Thursday instead of a Tuesday.

Tennessee remains one of the most conservative states in the country, but Democrats spotted a vulnerability in our unique election calendar. They first exploited it in the big four counties and expanded that advantage to many more on August 6, 2026.

Across the state, Democrats turned out in record numbers like never seen for a local election and flipped or gained county commission and school board seats. They:

Flipped control of the Montgomery County (Clarksville) commission, ending the Republican majority

Picked up seven commission seats (ending the Republican supermajority) plus a school board seat in Rutherford County (Murfreesboro)

Gained seats in Anderson County (Oak Ridge)

Flipped three commission seats, a school board seat, and nearly won the mayor’s race in Washington County (Johnson City)

Flipped two commission seats in Hamilton County (Chattanooga), shifting the balance from 8R-3D toward 6R-5D, plus a school board seat

Flipped one commission seat in Knox County and a seat on school board

Flipped one commission seat in Sumner County (the first Democrat elected to local office there in years under the current partisan system)

Gains were also reported in Coffee, Hamblen, Maury, Putnam, and Wilson counties.

What we are seeing locally reflects a national mood. Democrats are in survival mode. With the potential Save America Act, the end of USAID, cuts to NPR and PBS, AmeriCorps layoffs, deep-state exposure, border control and remigration, and funding cuts to liberal nonprofits, their grift is being shut off—and their political livelihood depends on fighting back. Democrats know they must win in 2026. Trump, DeSantis, and Tennessee Republicans are pushing hard. Unfortunately, not enough Republican voters share that same urgency.

Democrats voters are high-propensity—they will show up even if the only race on the ballot is dog catcher. Republicans tend to be lower-propensity voters who focus more on federal races, partly because Republican-leaning media (Fox, Newsmax, X, podcasts, and other nationally focused outlets) emphasize those contests.

A solution: Pass a constitutional amendment to move Tennessee to one primary and one general election in November. When Republicans turn out for federal races, they will vote Republican down the ballot for state and local offices.

Here’s the proof. In August 2022, Republicans lost a local seat in Knox County, then posted record numbers for state and federal candidates in November. In August 2024, Republicans lost two local seats in Knox County, then achieved record numbers in November—including Trump’s strongest performance since 2016. The same pattern held statewide with record results for President Trump, Governor Bill Lee, and U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn.

Since 2023, Majority Leader William Lamberth and State Representatives Jason Zachary and Elaine Davis have been working on a constitutional amendment to align the county, state, and federal general elections in November. The current legislation moving through has flaws but it is still a significant step in the right direction. After the results of August 6, we cannot afford to delay; if possible, we need to expedite the process.

The silver lining of this election is that it may finally wake up enough Republican state legislators to make the constitutional amendment a priority so we can consolidate our calendar into just two elections, adopt other election reforms, and get more serious about fighting back against the Democrats.

What can Republicans do in the meantime?

Get extremely serious about organizing and voter turnout. Amending the Constitution takes time (changes may not take effect until 2034), and Democrats will keep exploiting this election calendar anomaly—with the real risk of more flips, including mayoral seats. Cocktail parties, fancy mailers, and TV ads will not be enough. This is a turnout game that demands grit, humility, and a willingness to reach low-propensity voters at the doors, on the phones, and through friends and family. This will take a new extraordinary effort we must scale to combat the millions of out-of-state Democratic dollars being used to flip our local governments Blue.

In addition, Republicans at the local and state levels can take further actions immediately. Republicans must stop funding the opposition with taxpayer dollars that Democrats use to organize politically and import and sustain their voter base.

If Republicans do not dramatically change course now—both legislatively and through political organizing—we could face a scenario by 2030 in which Democrats control the county mayor offices, county commissions, and school boards in a dozen counties, despite Tennessee having one of the highest presidential Republican vote shares, a Republican supermajority in the state legislature, and an 11-0 congressional and U.S. Senate delegation.

2026 Results

Knox County Mayor

Betsy Henderson won with 52.47% of the vote. In 2022, Glenn Jacobs won with 55.28% of the vote.

District 6 School Board

2022 Betsy Henderson won with 59.53%. Lee Ann Eaves won with 57.6%.

District 4 School Board

2026 Katherine Bike, a devout BLM loving, child grooming Communist won with 52.85% of the vote. She won in 2022 with 50.69% of the vote.

County Commission At-Large (10 and 11)

2026 Seat 10 Justin Cofer 50.89% to radical BLM loving Communist Katina Sharp 45.15%. 2022 Larsen Jay 56.29% to Democrat 43.71%

Seat 11 Garrett Holt 52.32% to 44.33%. 2022 Kim Frazier 53.90% to Democrat 41.78%

Betsy Henderson received 46,207 votes. Nick McBride received 48,201 votes

Why Is a Green Energy PAC Attacking Republicans for Not Being Pro-Trump Enough?

This is a very easy one to understand.

We do not have a two-party system. We have the appearance of a two-party system.

Our political system is bought and paid for by special interests. We see this locally in Knox County, where builders and groups like the Realtors purchase influence to get what they want, always of course at the expense of everyone else.

Same goes on in Nashville. I call the Republicans the Grand Old Prostitutes. You will see a bill come out that claims to protect us from Flock and other spying cameras. I will wager that the end bill actually benefits the camera companies. Assembly Republicans as a whole excel at telling us one thing and doing another. Always follow the money.

Congress is no different. The Senate refuses to pass the SAVE Act, which 80% of the country supports. Why? Because the Uni-Party wants to cheat in elections. Most recently, James O’Keefe showed he could get a ballot for Lisa Murkowski’s brother after he showed that you can show up in Minnesota, vote with no ID, and then vouch for others.

The USA no longer exists as founded. Instead of building a business by serving customers, such as Burger King is doing, people buy off politicians to get special treatment to keep competition out.

In a free enterprise system, you enter the marketplace and consumers choose your goods or services and pay for them with their own money.

In our Corporate Socialist system, companies buy off elected officials to get special treatment and to have government use their power to crush their competition.

There are 3 types of Republicans (I am speaking generally here)

(1) Establishment

These people are Republicans because they get something from it: a paycheck, power, prestige, status, and the like.

These people will always put party first. Principle depends.

(2) Mainstream Tennessean

These people are generally conservative. They do not follow issues that closely. They understand right vs wrong. They want clearly identified problems and simple solutions.

(3) Red Meat Types

These people are very well informed on a multitude of issues. They could be national, local, or within the state.

These people are early adopters in primaries.

This is generally good, but becomes a problem when they become absolutists or decide to have litmus tests.

Absolutists demand 100% agreement on a bunch of different issues.

Litmus tests are the most dangerous. Successful candidates focus on the issues that their position has purview over.

Candidates will lose voters when they are concentrating on issues unrelated to the office they are running for. All that does is divide voters and as we just saw in Knox County is a net loser.

With the Tennessee Governor’s race, we saw that Marsha Blackburn won with less than 50% of the vote.

Marsha Blackburn received 43.4%

John Rose received 32.9%

Monty Fritts received 23.4%

Rose and Fritts voters should unite around a few points

(1) A primary winner must have a clean majority

(2) TN should elect a Lt Governor, and Attorney General, Comptroller, Secretary of the State, as well.

John Rose would have won a runoff easily.

The real fight Rose and Fritts voters have is to beat the system. The system wants whatever it can have to keep its power.

Take the best pieces of both candidates and you have a winner.

Monty Fritts was assertive and aggressive. Go on offense with the campaign. A successful campaign will start very early and make sure there is one candidate against the establishment.

John Rose was excellent on focusing on issues that matter to voters. He was laser focused on clear mainstream Tennessean issues. Monty Fritts supporters focus on issues that very small percentages of voters are not concerned with.

Campaigns require money. That is a fact of life. A grassroots movement will only go so far.

What Does a Successful Statewide Candidate Look Like?

(1) Must excite and mobilize the grassroots base as Monty Fritts did.

This includes

Discussing issues the establishment ignores.

Showing or having a track record in elected office as being willing to buck the system. The top issue to the most engaged conservative voters is they are sick of electing unprincipled Republicans who do not deliver on promises.

Grassroots people must learn and understand many of their issues are not major issues to the mainstream Republican voters, or even general election voters.

What you say to win a Republican primary is radically different than what it takes to win a toss-up election.

(2) Present the issues in a clear and simple manner.

John Rose excelled at this.

He focused on ending corporate welfare and protecting our way of life.

(3) Deliver on promises.

Republicans have the presidency and control of Congress. Nothing of any substance has been done. Republican voters are fed up with do-nothing politicians. And now so are general election voters.

The total recommended state budget for fiscal year 2015-2016 is $33.3 billion, with $15.1 billion from state appropriations, $12.8 billion from federal funds, and $5.4 billion from other departmental revenues, higher education student tuition and fees, and bonds for capital projects and facilities revolving fund capital outlay. This is an increase of $349.7 million in total funding and $267.2 million in state funding from the revised 2014-2015 spending estimates

2026 Budget

The total recommended state budget for fiscal year 2025-2026 is $59.5 billion, with $29.5 billion from state appropriations; $20.8 billion from federal funds; $5.9 billion from other departmental revenues; $2.3 billion from higher education student tuition and fees; and $1.0 billion in bonds. This is a decrease of $1.1 billion in total funding and an increase of $2.4 billion in state funding from the revised current fiscal year 2024-2025 spending estimates. Federal revenue is decreasing by $4.7 billion; departmental revenue is increasing by $252.5 million; capital and highway construction bonds are increasing by $921.8 million; and higher education student tuition and fees are remaining the same.

Full disclosure: Sheri and I started Uncontrolled Opposition and I worked with her for years.

Sheri led the charge to get the porn out of school and county libraries.

I have no doubt that she will deliver on her promise to oppose funding illegals and the LGBTQ grooming and sexualization of children.

The United Way gets money geared towards the Boys and Girls Club.

Sheri claims that Gina Oster took over $46,000 from developers. Rhonda Lee took money from developers as well, including Scott Davis and Cooks who work for Cook Brothers. I reviewed Rhonda Lee’s 2022 County Commission donations personally. Note, I take no issue with any of Rhonda’s donations and support her for judge.

Sheri has valid concerns with some of Gina’s votes on density. I have asked Gina previously about some of the votes. She will speak to constituents and discuss concerns.

There is some fairness on the criticisms here. Some of these density issues are on properties that were already zoned for what was approved. And some times, there are two choices: bad idea or worse idea.

Sheri will only vote to put Republicans on boards.

I covered the Juvenile Detention Center vote in a previous episode Knox County Commission Bean Detention Center. Gina explained her vote for Democrat Commissioner Damon Rawls over Republican Commissioner Rhonda Lee. Gina explained her vote. I still feel her explanation was reasonable, though I would have voted for Rhonda Lee.

After being elected, Gina Oster, Kim Frazier, and Rhonda Lee refused to vote for Larsen Jay for Chairman. I agreed that Courtney Durette was a better choice.

I am interested in the best person for the job, not their party affiliation.

Fight for the roads funding.

I asked Gina what this was about. She thinks it is referencing an attempted ordinance by Andy Fox. The ordinance would have required non-profits receiving money from the county to certify they are not giving services to illegals. Gina stated that she checked with the Knox County Law Department and felt the ordinance had legal issues and voted against it accordingly.

There are three types of voters

(1) Heavily engaged who vote in primaries

(2) Somewhat engaged who vote in local elections

(3) General Election voters

So how do we do this?

What does is the mainstream Republican primary voter concerned about?

The destruction of our way of life.

The Republicans in the General Assembly are the best government that special interests can buy. They are refusing to stop the raping of our localities with massive high density building. This is because the Builder’s Association passes around enough donations to keep it this way.

Republican primary voters are fed up with all talk, no action Republicans.

And most importantly, the average Republican primary voter does not pay that close attention to politics. They are not red meat types.

This last part is critical.

Millions are needed to reach the majority of Republican primary voters. John Rose has these funds. Monty Fritts does not.

On the issues that actually matter to voters, John Rose is spot on.

This is why I have supported John.

In order to enact change, we have to understand the battlefield. Most grassroots activists do not.

The first major step needed to take back our country is rid the Republican Party of the do nothings. Trump has succeeded in taking out Senators Tillis, Cornyn, and Cassidy. There are many more to go.

I have seen way too many angry conservatives rush onto the battlefield without a plan.

It is far easier to take a good candidate, take time with them, and make them an excellent candidate, than it is to get an excellent candidate and raise them millions.

The choice is between Republican endorsed Betsy Henderson and Democrat Beau Hawk.

Hawk is a radical leftist, like many Democrat candidates. He is a hard no.

Betsy Henderson is a kind decent person. I have always had positive dealings with her. In my opinion, she is not equipped to handle the job. She is clearly the best choice.

The Democrats are again running radical leftists.

Republican endorsed Justin Cofer and Garrett Holt are the clear choices.

Sheri Super and I started Uncontrolled Opposition. She beat incumbent Gina Oster by 11 votes in the primary.

Incumbent Justin Biggs lost to career elected official Nick McBride in the primary.

McBride has gone from one elected office to another. There are also criminal issues relating to his current office the Register of Deeds.

I cannot endorse in this race.

On judges, there are a bunch of questions on whether to retain current Appeals Court Judges.

After dealing with all the legal matters I have, the only course of action is to clean house and start over again.

Breitbart: Ford Hires Back Former Engineers to Fix Errors Caused by AI

According to Ford, attempting to replace highly-skilled employees with AI-powered systems was a mistake.

The Verge reports that Ford has revealed that its reliance on artificial intelligence and automated systems in vehicle production and design created significant quality problems, forcing the company to bring back experienced engineers and technicians to correct mistakes made by its robots.

…the automaker believed simply introducing AI and adjusting existing design requirements would automatically yield high-quality vehicles. “Mistakenly, we thought that by just introducing artificial intelligence and adjusting the design requirements that we had, that that would produce a high-quality product,” Poon said.

The problem was compounded when some of Ford’s most experienced personnel departed before their accumulated institutional knowledge could be fully captured by the company’s automated systems.

This loss of expertise proved particularly damaging because the effectiveness of AI depends entirely on the quality of data used to train the models. Ford had underestimated the value of veteran engineers who had worked through multiple vehicle-development cycles and possessed deep understanding of potential problems that could emerge during production.

To address this gap, Ford hired, promoted, or brought back more than 350 experienced engineers to rebuild its technical expertise base. These seasoned professionals were tasked with retraining the automated systems and mentoring younger engineers who were struggling to maintain vehicle quality standards. “That’s where some of our most experienced engineers have had experience solving and identifying those problems before they creep into the system,” Poon said.

The economy is currently going through the growing pains of adapting AI and finding the correct balance between man and machine

There is a surprising amount of common ground between free market types and the stated intentions of many liberals:

When we discuss income inequality, we need to focus on economic opportunity inequality.

The Democrats look at income inequality solutions from the government as the hammer and redistribution as the nail. They want to use government to coerce redistribution of wealth until there is parity page 201

The question is not does someone have more than me. The question is how can I create more to match the wealth of someone who has more than I do.

Leftists view wealth as a zero-sum game. It is of course not. Want more pie, make more pie.

Socialists want affordable health care. They view the government as the only place that can create this.

How about we create a system where people can afford insurance?

Socialists want free college.

How about we have a primary education system that prepares our youth for the real world in the 13 years of government schooling?

As we are seeing in Seattle and New York City, their socialists enumerated the giveaways. Now they have to raise the funds to pay for all their free stuff.

It is one thing to get elected. It is another to actually deliver.

Democratic Socialists want to turn business owners into the equivalent of managers reporting to government overseers.

The wealth gap is increasing. Socialists like Bernie Sanders will say it is a bad thing. To a degree it is.

As the stock market grows, the wealth gap will also increase. People need wealth to acquire stocks and real estate. This increase in wealth does not come at the expense of the poor.

Increasing wealth does not necessarily increase poverty.

The poor do not get poorer just because the rich get richer. Nor do the poor get richer when the rich get poorer. Wealth is not a zero sum game.

Socialists view the rich as lazy and inheritors of their wealth. 70% of inherited family money is gone by the end of the second generation. Same principle on why most who win big money in the lottery end up broke: You do not respect what you did not earn.

People create wealth by building and creating things.

How the Left Views Business and Creating Wealth
