When you step back and see that all you create is actually just a piece of the larger world you are building, you stop thinking “will that hook make me go viral?”

You are a visionary, a leader, a Future Ancestor.

When you imagine yourself in the future looking back, you realize you’ve been creating a living archive of your legacy work.

As I’ve been deep in my own ancestral practices, I looked back at my own life so far.

I poured over my old journals from a few years ago, and even though it’s not a surprise, it was still emotional to see how earnest and ambitious I was.

So many things I scripted came true.

I even found an old manifestation list of my ideal partner, and realized my current love checks all the boxes.

(I told him, and he said he might just cry over the dinner he was cooking).

I also found scraps of ideas and scattered sticky notes hidden in old journals, and was shocked.

There were words, phrases, and ideas of what I am now embodying, selling, and practicing 3+ years later.

I recently shared a retrospective of a magazine community project I did that was emotionally healing and empowering for the Filipinx American community.

Going through those screenshots of texts and accolades reminded me that I’ve already had this visionary potential that people look up to.

All that you create and share, whether privately in your diary or publicly on social media posts, are all parts of your body of work.

When we look to our ancestors or historical figures who we still quote to this day, such as James Baldwin, bell hooks, Octavia Butler, Maya Angelou and many more, their body of work looked slightly different.

They weren’t in the age of social media, but their body of work was probably portions of a poem on the back of a receipt on the way home from work.

Or speaking engagements at universities and their neighborhoods.

Or their novels and journals.

Or articles in local newspapers and radio interviews.

They were creating and developing their philosophies in real time because they had something to say not just to be famous.

But because there was no other way to achieve a liberated world unless they spoke out on what was not working, why, and what needed to be ushered in to make it happen.

They weren’t thinking about social media strategies.

Their body of work is so vast and varied because the creative energy was overflowing, pouring into any vessel it could, from books to talks to articles.

What if you stopped thinking about what to post next or how to sell your next offering...

And reframed it to what feels honest to share right now, that my community needs to hear from me?

It doesn’t need to be a profound thesis everyday, but when you realize you’re not just creating “content”...

you move as a Future Ancestor crafting your living archive.

That’s where conviction takes places.

That’s legacy work, embodied.

They named something that I could hear was really the root of their business frustrations and inner turmoil as a healer.

I reminded them that many indigenous cultures today and before colonization highly honored their healers and saw them as important pillars of the community, that they resourced them well.

The healers did not need to sell. Their basic needs and more were met.

However, that is not the case in today’s western society.

It is a disservice to our own gifts if we are drained, and resentment towards our work and community can creep up.

As someone who is also a certified Trauma of Money practitioner, this conversation around healing our money wounds for intuitive, heart-led founders is one I want to weave into future resources.

I also offered the reframe that money is a neutral tool, and we have been bombarded with harmful models of wealthy people.

But for those who move with integrity, we can remind ourselves we are good stewards of money and can use it to resource a new world for good.

When in reality, I last posted here just one year ago.

But everything feels drastically different.

I. am. drastically. different.

And it’s been like a shedding of skins (and no, I’m not referring to my eczema), of peeling back the layers of who I actually want to be in this season of my life and business.

Of what my work is even meant to become.

At first it felt like such an uphill battle, squeezing into too jagged shapes when I’m meant to fly into softer nests.

Only when I finally let myself engage with what truly lit me up was stupid good at, finally finding that sweet spot intersection, did I hit jackpot.

The resonance was felt.

Clients started rolling in.

Money actually dropped into my bank account not sporadically, but weekly and almost daily.

But it felt TOO easy.

And that’s what scared me.

Could I really let myself have FUN dressing up, playing with bold eyeshadow again, taking my own pictures like I was running Unconventional Bliss 1.0, my secret fashion blog back in college?

It felt frivolous, amongst the work I was forcing to make happen (feeling like Gretchen in Mean Girls trying to make fetch work).

Unimportant in the grand scheme of world terrors.

But it led to my now signature body of work that people know me for, recommend to their peers and cohorts, inviting me to be a guest workshop speaker to teach this very thing in their community of hundreds, and shout me out on social media.

From that courageous experimentation, I’m literally now getting paid for dressing up, hosting virtual dance parties, and facilitating DIY photoshoots with other badass creators from all over the world through my membership, Sensual Selfies Content Club.

And now I’m shedding another skin, or rather, rediscovering a layer that has always been there but has been a winding road to return back to.

Just like I mentioned, my online platform used to be a fashion blog, where I let myself wax poetic on an outfit I self-photographed through my Mac’s photobooth app or the revelations I was having in my university design classes.

Years later, here I am returning back to long form writing, a format I was holding back on for a while because maybe I wanted that quick instant gratification from posting on social media daily, or a sense of “productivity” from pre-scheduling a handful of marketing emails during launches.

I’ve noticed that when I prioritize rest, when I make space to listen, when I honor my own rhythm—my work doesn’t suffer. It expands. It deepens. It connects more clearly with the people it’s meant for.

And that’s the real power here: the more you embody your future self in the way you live, move, and create now, the more magnetic you become. Clients feel it. Collaborators feel it. You feel it.

So no, you don’t need to overhaul your life overnight. But could you start eating a little slower today? Dress like the version of you who already signed the dream client? Speak your ideas like the leader you already are?

🧠 The More You Recall, the More You Receive

Dream recall is a muscle. The more you train it, the stronger it gets. And the more data you gather, the more patterns emerge—people, symbols, sensations that point toward what you’re working through (or avoiding) in waking life.

💭 Dreams as Creative Compasses

Here’s the part that gets me lit up: you can use dream work in your branding. In your design. In your decision-making. If you're feeling stuck on your next move or visual direction, ask for insight in your dream state. The answers might come dressed in metaphors, but they’re usually spot-on.

Today, as I lined my lips and blended my shadow, I found myself reflecting on all the times I’ve used beauty, style, and adornment as a portal. Not just to look cute (though, yes), but to step into the next version of myself. The bolder one. The freer one. The one I had once only fantasized about becoming.

When I think about glamour magic now, I see it as both mystical and incredibly practical. It's the intentional act of embodying who you're becoming—before you fully believe you're her.

✨ I was painfully shy growing up. So shy it took me mental rehearsal to say “hi” to a classmate. But when I got to college, I saw it as a blank slate. A chance to lead with my wardrobe before I found my voice. My outfits made the first move for me. Compliments led to conversations. Style gave me safety. Fashion gave me a friendlier path to becoming seen.

✨ My roots were never in high fashion. I grew up with DIY YouTube tutorials, thrift store treasures, drugstore makeup, and Tumblr inspo. And I wouldn't have it any other way. That resourcefulness? That creativity? That was the magic.

✨ What started as experimentation slowly became embodiment. Bit by bit, I built the version of me I had dreamed about: confident, poised, expressive, and real.

Now? The gap between who I was and who I longed to be is gone. I am her. And the magic continues—evolving into the version of me who’s strong in her body, rooted in her feminine power, and bold in her softness.

For me, summer has always been a portal. A time when my Gemini sun + mercury crave connection, reflection, and those half-baked, heart-lit conversations that spark whole new worlds. Not just creative output, but creative response. That’s where things come alive.

This episode is a love letter to collaboration—not just the “let’s work together” kind, but the subtle, nourishing feedback loops that happen when you let people witness your process. When you share before you’re ready. When you don’t wait until it’s polished.

✨ My Creative Evolution (The Messy, Sacred Middle)

When I started this journey, I was offering general creative mentorship. It made sense—it was the work I was known for, the thing I could name easily. But something about it didn’t feel right. It was too broad. Too disconnected from the magic I actually wanted to bring into the world.

What I really craved was a way to blend branding with ritual, intuition, and ceremony.

🌕 Creative Confidence Isn’t Built Alone

There’s a reason why so many of us stall out right before a breakthrough: it’s vulnerable. Sharing your half-formed ideas can feel like walking around without skin. But the right people—the ones who want to see you win—they’ll hold that space with tenderness, not judgment.

But we have to be brave enough to ask:
Do you have the capacity to hold space for me?
Are you open to hearing something messy?
Can I share without needing feedback—just a witness?

And sometimes? You need someone who will challenge you. Who’ll tell you, gently but firmly, “This could go deeper.” That’s sacred too.

Knowing what kind of support you need in each moment—celebration, critique, clarity, or care—that’s part of the magic.

🌱 The Outcome I Never Could’ve Predicted

What started as experiments and hunches eventually became a signature challenge. One that almost 100 people signed up for on the first try. One that led to a beautiful group program filled with intuitive, brave creatives ready to do branding differently.

But I wouldn’t have found it if I didn’t allow myself to explore.
To listen.
To not know.

But I’ve also been witnessing how community shows up—rallies, healing circles, posters on poles, music blasting through the streets. And underneath all of it? Organizing. Storytelling. I let myself wake up when I was ready. No alarms. No rush. Just me, my skincare, some water, a gentle breakfast, and the quiet magic of an unhurried morning.

I caught up with my sister in the kitchen. We talked about summer plans, and I meandered into the backyard after breakfast, where I met a camouflaged insect nestled into our pear tree leaves—something I would’ve missed if I’d stayed in hustle mode. And honestly? That moment stopped me in my tracks.

Because here’s the truth I keep coming back to: when I slow down, I see more. I feel more. I create better. Rest, in all its forms, is not the thing I do after the work. It is the work.

This transmission came to remind me (and maybe you, too) that our society has trained us to move fast, grind harder, and collapse later. • Dancing, stretching, or just moving my hips to music that makes me feel alive

• Getting outside—even for five minutes—to connect with nature

These aren’t extras. These are the roots of my creativity. Without them, I’m trying to pour from an empty cup. Without them, my work feels forced, dry, and detached. But with them? I’m magnetic.

And I want to name something else, too—especially for those of us who bleed: We’re not built to function on a 24/7 cycle modeled after testosterone. Our bodies are lunar. We are seasonal. And the start of my bleed reminded me again how sacred slowness really is.

There’s a reason so many indigenous traditions view menstruation as a heightened time for dreams, vision, and intuition. When we honor that, our creative energy doesn't disappear—it just changes form. Sometimes it speaks in whispers. Sometimes it wants to nap. Sometimes it hands us a poem, or a business idea, or a dream that won’t let go.

So today, I’m claiming my rest—not as a reward, but as a ritual.

And what unraveled from that moment was something bigger—something deeply tied to our cycles, our creative rhythms, and the way we pressure ourselves to constantly be in bloom.

🔁 We Move in Seasons

Especially for those of us with wombs and cycles, our energy moves in waves. Sometimes we’re full-on fire mode—making moves, building things, crushing goals. And other times? We’re deep in the cave. Tired. Foggy. Emotional. Unclear.

That’s not failure.
That’s nature.

You’re not meant to be “on” all the time. Your rest, your reflection, your pause—they matter just as much as your productivity. But in a world built around linear timelines and constant output, it’s easy to feel like we’re behind just because we’re not currently in a peak state.

In this reflective solo episode, I share what it looks like—and feels like—to move through a creative slump as someone who’s been a designer for over a decade. This isn’t about forcing inspiration or pushing through burnout. It’s about slowing down, tuning in, and remembering the wisdom that’s already within.

I Got Me, You Got You, We Got Us

Community is at the heart of who I am, how I move, and how I cultivate experiences.

My ancestors come from villages, come from compounds of tall cement built right up against each other so that you know your neighbors’ business, come from provincial neighborhoods by the ocean.

LEAD Filipino’s Fly Pinays Leadership Summit was one of the transformative communities that guided me as I was floundering “the real world” outside of my college bubble.

There are many lessons threaded through this years-long experience, but one I’ll extract is the practice of asking my community with openness and love.

As I’m growing my mentorship and consulting business, I wanted to lean on my existing support systems and connections I’ve cultivated over the years when I organized events and volunteered.

I felt it was late in the year, but something still prodded me to ask the founder of LEAD Filipino if they were in need of workshop speakers.

She said they were full, but would add me to the list for next year. That was already a big step in using my voice and opening up a door for possibility. Then not too long after, she personally texted me if I might be interested in guiding the meditation.

This was an easy hell yes!

And I didn’t realize it, but this also put my in front of every attendee as I would be on stage, instead of a smaller group in a classroom if I hosted a workshop.

So it was an honor to be thought of to lead the opening Guided Meditation for the full-day summit.

To go from:

• a clueless mentee at the inaugural summit

• to being invited to join the organizing committee and loving the opportunity to shape the next several years’ events up until the pandemic

• to now going on stage to guide folks into their body and breath, wow.

There is courage to put your requests out into the Universe—and experience surprise and delight with what comes back.

This past year has been a year of courageously using my voice and daring to be visible and seen by my community.

If I continued to shrink, I would have gone down a heavy path of resentment, creative frustration, lack of fulfillment, and a plateau of financial income.

Imagine if I stayed hidden, uncertain of my capabilities. I wouldn’t have this happen at the summit:

• After the meditation, a few people came up to me to share their gratitude for the calm and grounding they experienced.

• Even when I introduced myself to the keynote speaker, we locked eyes, and she said “thank you” to ME!

• One attendee even connected on Instagram and shared how she didn’t realize meditation could be so helpful, and we have a 1:1 this month!

Back in 2017 it was empowering to step foot into a large crowd where I got to see Filipina American woman old enough to be my Ates or older sisters, aunties, grandmas. Being badass leaders, professionals, and executives across a variety of industries.

I saw the world open up to what was possible.

Safety, empowerment, creativity, inclusion, and collective liberation are important facets I look for when I enter spaces, and are goals for when I dream up spaces for you.

Constant gratitude to all the community spaces that have shaped me, and am excited to continue taking those lessons of love and activism, safety and courage in all the spaces I create in the future.

It’s been about a week since I returned from the Philippines, the ancestral lands.

And I am overcome with too many emotions, words, memories. Where do I start to unravel the thread of this month-long homecoming?

So let me start with this picture, to invite you into the safe haven of coconut trees, breezy humidity, and fresh scrumptious dishes that added five pounds to my scale.

Where have you been girl??

For over three weeks, I have been traversing various areas of the Philippines, with a whirlwind of a four day trip into Tokyo, Japan for the first time.

And then alas, after four years of evading her, COVID finally got me.

With blessings on blessings, I was able to extend my trip to recover and ensure others are healthy.

Unfortunately my last week was stuck in a hotel room watching whatever movies the hotel service provided. But I caught up on my Tagalog with Filipino romance dramas.

I was emotionally and physically challenged, my over-produced mucus even came up and blocked my airways I really thought it was close to the end. And eventually I was able to move it out with relief.

So much practice of easing anxieties.

Crying flowed through. Telling my parents, easing my overwhelm, that it’s okay to cry.

More left to process, but I’ll leave this here for now.

Who I was at the start of the year and what I imagined to be my life for the future was drastically different from how I ended up becoming at the end.

I went from being a full time Art Director at a PR & Marketing Agency to a solopreneur within the realm of creative coaching and freelance designing.

But my culture work is so much deeper than these limited, restricting labels that can barely hold the expanse of my gifts.

At the heart of my essence, I am a Creator. How marvelous, that mere thoughts that only live in my mind, birthed from spirit, can be alchemized to be so beautifully made manifest into the physical or experiential realm for others to receive.

When I think of creative energy this way, it really is magic.

From nothing to medicine. Alchemy.

I now continue doing the work of taking the culmination of my life experiences and skills, and masterfully blend them and pair them at the right moments, for specific people and places.

I release the restrictive, imaginary, rigid boxes and labels that kept me from fully experiencing the vastness of my abilities. What a hidden superpower, that was just yearning to spew out of me.

In past lives, I really played into the weird idea that I had to hide or downplay my after-work activities.

So my 9-5 design job stayed in the office, and after hours I put on the hat of space holder and event organizer, running to catch the next BART train to my event.

I felt like two different people, playing with alter egos, as if I was a superhero hiding behind Clark Kent glasses.

Thinly veiled disguise, but the way I radiated energy or withdrew changed how I wanted to be perceived.

I even remember trying to fuse these worlds together at one job, where I nervously shared that I spoke on stage over the weekend.

My boss was quite receptive and open to what I would share and even recommended me as a go-to person to a temporary intern if they wanted. to learn about cool local events. But when I shared this alter ego experience, I could sense a bit of surprise, in how he shared that “speaking on stage requires a lot of courage”.

And that’s because I was so soft spoken, afraid to share my full personality at work. I felt like I was in middle school again, in a new campus, like a fish out of water, trying to find my place.

But I always felt like a frog was in my throat, and probably from feeling this ingrained need to keep these aspects of myself disparate, that my professional life is not to be blended with my personal.

Sure there are boundaries between the two (I’m not trauma dumping at work when that’s best saved for a therapist of healer), but I physically and emotionally felt drained playing two people.

The first half of the year was in the Philippines, in the motherland, and working in a traditional Art Director role where I truly believed I could settle into that agency and role for a few years.

The second half of the year I was in Costa Rica, getting my heart cracked open, and exploring the depths of my culture work as a Creativity Wellness Guide among other roles in service to the collective.

My self-concept of what I am capable of has soared beyond what I even comprehended as possible for myself.

All from a place of devotion.

Knowing that change is inevitable, how do I stay rooted in my values, beliefs, practices, and rituals, so that no matter how life rocks me up or down, I continue on my path of desires from this place.

I can’t wait to look back on 2024 to reminisce on how staying in the energy of devotion guided me towards continued expansion and abundance.

The end and start of a year can bring up a roller coaster of emotions, and would love to witness and receive you.

📚 Reading Rec: See You Yesterday, by Rachel Lynn Solomon
After deep dives of creative work or space holding or learning about entrepreneurship, I love unwinding with fun fluffy romcom books, from YA to adult to spicy (and I like my spice, iykyk). After Business or Pleasure (also very solid romcom and very spicy), I fell in love with Solomon’s writing style, take on unique fun romance stories, and depth of characters. This was a cute, fun, and endearing take on Groundhogs Day while also exploring grief, addiction, humiliation, and more with beautiful nuance. Also, love me an enemies to lovers trope.

Side note, I read 70 books in 2023, mostly from poetry and romance books mixed with some audio books, and am excited to expand my list into diverse characters/authors of various backgrounds, cultures, and genres.

but a community-centered, heart-led one.

My culturework is at play when I am deeply embodied, just being as I am, so deeply rooted in my values. I stand tall and ground down like the strength of a tree, daring to be visible for others to take notice and be in awe and moved.

There is only stretching wide and deep like a tree’s roots, unseen, but the foundation for health, for underground connection for support.

Like the branches that seek out sunlight, creating shade and shelter for others yearning for the tree’s embrace. Like the need to voice out my thoughts, otherwise it will wither.

Trees and nature have no concept of withholding, repressing—they just grow and expand.

My culturework feels grounded, no matter if it feels good or scary. It feels like a deep knowing, that I fulfilled my part whenever I embody my values.

Culturework and creative ecology weave into my place in the world, guiding me to poetically process how to show up in ways that are tender and medicine for the collective.

Like flowers or fruit trees that offer sweetness to it’s specific demographic (bees, birds, animals, humans), they provide nourishment and also a way to spread their medicine, their seed, wider and farther.

Creative ecology, to me, is the environment, the factors and pieces that come together.

There is my inner and outer creative ecology: what are the things that nourish and nurture these ecologies for my creativity to thrive?

What are the components that need to be cared for more, or need to be plucked out for optimal wellness?

All of these components influence my creative expansion or contraction (people, physical space, food, consumption of things).

As I commune with my garden, I notice the succulents planted on the side of my house where the dirt area was sparse. But once planted, weeds and other sprouts flock in the areas where I transplanted new plants.

The soil is made rich, there is company and community, they can’t help but attract others and let them know the soil is safe here.

My creative process and culturework are spread by this ripple effect, with the aim of collective liberation and healing, with the richness and longevity of nature.

I’ve been supporting and co-stewarding with in their intimate group container, Writing New Somatic Myths, and only two weeks in, so much depth has been revealed within me.

It’s been a soul remembering that all the gifts I embody are meant to be threaded and woven together, to be expressed and shared boldly and loudly for others to seek solace and remember their own creative gifts.

I’m so excited to continue tilling the soil deeply, slowly, and in community as I strengthen my own relationship to the proverbial pen and paper.
