This might sound like another self-help cliché, but how you think about yourself becomes the foundation that either propels you toward your dreams or keeps you paralyzed in bed, scrolling through social media, criticizing people who are living the life you secretly crave. Simply chanting affirmations at your reflection won’t transform deep-seated low self-esteem or rebuild shattered confidence. People mistakenly believe that applying makeup and wearing beautiful clothes automatically creates self-worth.

True confidence is having unshakeable faith in yourself across every area of your life, especially during the storms. This foundation is built from years of conditioning, your family dynamics, your environment, and societal messaging. If you grew up in a household that constantly diminished you, thinking highly of yourself feels nearly impossible, particularly when life is falling apart around you. When you can’t stick to your health goals, when your products aren’t selling, when you’re longing for love but struggling to find it, instead of approaching yourself with compassion and strategic thinking, you slip into self-destruction and cycles of sabotage.

You exhaust yourself trying to please everyone while abandoning your own needs, constantly pushing your boundaries to find validation from others. Instead of recognizing that you might simply need to take smaller steps or invest in yourself to change your situation, you default to self-criticism. This is where feminine energy becomes essential, moving away from rigid control and rules toward collaboration, compassion, and intuitive wisdom. When you genuinely believe in your worth and capabilities, you can see your potential clearly and accelerate your progress exponentially.

People often limit self-esteem conversations to physical appearance, but authentic self-worth impacts every dimension of your existence, especially when you’re determined to transform your life. I had become my own worst enemy, obsessing over analytics and view counts, when I should have been celebrating the valuable library I’m creating for future subscribers and clients while consistently improving my craft.

Breaking Free from Negativity Programming

Negative thinking feels effortless because we’ve been trained for it through constant exposure to alarming news, public scandals, and manufactured outrage, our brains naturally retain negative information. There are far more people walking through life feeling defeated and pessimistic than those who think highly of themselves, because dejected individuals are easier to manipulate. Hopeless people consume mindlessly, complain endlessly, and remain trapped in unfulfilling routines.

But if you’re reading these words, you’re different. You expect more from life than perpetual complaints. You want to think highly of yourself because you know you deserve an extraordinary existence. Deep in your soul, you understand that life will eventually turn in your favor. This is ultimately about the lens through which you choose to see reality.

The Magnetic Power of Positive Expectation

I believe that positive thinking magnetizes positive outcomes. When challenges arise, you’ll maintain perspective instead of catastrophizing. Rather than spending your days wondering

• “When will I make my first sale?” or

• “How can I pay this bill when I’m broke?” or

• “Will I end up alone forever?” or

• “Is it actually possible to own my dream home?”, you shift your internal dialogue.

You start thinking: “If I go big this time, it will work for me. I will attract clients who see and value my leadership. I will reach my ideal weight. If that person achieved it, it’s possible for me too.” Nobody else will create this transformation for you. You must become self-centered enough to attract better opportunities, forge new connections, and take unprecedented action despite criticism, because you’re doing this for yourself.

My Physical and Mental Foundation

During this uncertain season, I’m focusing intensely on both physical and mental strengthening.

Physically: I’m establishing a consistent fitness routine, nourishing my body with intention, and walking daily. One strategy I love for rekindling my exercise motivation is watching fitness videos on YouTube while dressed in my workout clothes, headphones on, water bottle ready, it creates the energy and mindset I need to begin.

For nutrition, instead of eliminating everything I enjoy, I’m returning to weekly meal preparation, so I don’t default to processed foods or skip cooking altogether due to fatigue.

Mentally: I’m processing my emotions through journaling and writing on my Substack, always accompanied by music and a beautifully scented candle. While we can’t control outcomes, we absolutely can transform our thought patterns. Currently, I’m developing resilience and the radical practice of thinking highly of myself.

Most importantly, I’m done waiting for permission to express myself authentically. I deserve to share my thoughts and perspectives, no one else will do it for me.

Here’s what I want you to understand: thinking highly of yourself isn’t arrogance, it’s survival. In a world that profits from your insecurity, believing in your worth becomes a revolutionary act. Your dreams aren’t too big, your ambitions aren’t too bold, and your voice isn’t too loud.

Welcome to a transformative series where I share what unfolds in the coming months. These past few months, I've stepped away from writing because my creative well had run dry. I believed that taking a break would naturally restore my inspiration, but I discovered the opposite was true. I'm using this space as a sanctuary to reconnect with my divine feminine essence, my creative flow, and most importantly, to release the patterns of self-sabotage that have been holding me back. Three months ago, I was struggling deeply because my business felt stagnant, barely moving forward. This year has been particularly challenging as my mother fell ill on top of my father's ongoing health issues. My role shifted from supporting my father with his medical appointments to caring for my mother through her arthritis surgery and seven months of recovery. I found myself juggling three demanding roles: caregiver, household manager, and business owner. My mother's needs required tremendous energy, leaving no space for my own well-being. I stopped nurturing myself. The only outlet I maintained was my podcast, which became my emotional release valve. Eventually, I found refuge in late-night gaming streams. Those midnight hours became my only sanctuary, the precious moments when I could reconnect with myself, honor my thoughts, and truly unwind. When your days are consumed by caring for others, and as an introvert and highly sensitive person, you desperately need sacred space to return to yourself.

During this period, something remarkable happened, I began releasing weight naturally. I realized I no longer wanted to seek comfort in food to mask my frustrations, fears, and the sting of comparison when I watched others succeed while I felt paralyzed. No matter how much I ate, the emptiness remained unchanged. This awakening showed me that I deserve so much more than the life I was settling for.

Today, as I rose from bed, I recognized that I've been running from my own life. Spending my days observing others through screens isn't reconnecting me with my creative spark. What's fascinating is that exactly one year ago, I experienced a similar creative drought, yet I committed to daily writing practice. I didn't publish everything I created, and that's perfectly fine. We carry this toxic belief that when we're not producing, we're failing, that without visible results, we're worthless. We've become defined by our achievements rather than our inherent worth. I'm ready to appreciate myself beyond my accomplishments and discover my authentic voice and writing style. This summer, I gave myself permission to simply be, even pausing my weight release journey to fully experience my emotions. I learned that feeling sadness isn't wrong, but dwelling there indefinitely becomes problematic because it breeds resentment and jealousy, keeping us stuck in inaction.

One powerful way to combat this sense of powerlessness over my life's direction isn't through emotional eating or mindless scrolling, but through returning to center and writing. Most importantly, releasing the need for perfection. No one holds the secret formula to success, but the difference lies in continuous experimentation and courage. Writing is my zone of genius because it demands deep reflection and presence.

The pursuit of perfection creates masks, we speak like others, dress like everyone else, adopt identical aesthetics hoping for sales and approval. That inner critic whispers that we're inadequate when a post receives few likes or comments, convincing us we've failed. We've handed our creative validation over to others. Yet, when we create authentically, we must become obsessed with our own vision and potential to magnetize others to our unique perspective. This perfectionism quest strips away our creativity and authentic identity.

Society teaches us to fixate on money, productivity, and quantity. We're rarely taught to embrace the present moment or fall in love with the journey toward our dreams. The path to fulfillment isn't linear, it's filled with challenges and unexpected turns. Many people accept mediocrity because it feels safer than thinking deeply, easier than breaking free from unfulfilling routines, choosing instead to complain and numb out on weekends. When you know you deserve more, you must be willing to examine yourself honestly, not from a place of superiority, but with compassion, and move toward your vision while embracing healing. As we step toward our dreams, our fears surface, judgment arises, and we must courageously shed old identities.

One practice I'm embracing to reclaim myself is transforming my bedroom into a true sanctuary. I'm creating a space that reflects my desires, hotel-inspired minimalism in soft blush tones and pristine white.

I need to feel nourished when I write:

• surrounded by flickering candles,

• soul-stirring music,

• wrapped in my nightdress,

• whether I'm journaling by hand or typing into my iPad.

Furthermore, I let words flow onto the page from pure emotion, inspiration, or whatever theme calls to me. There's nothing more feminine than releasing control and rigid structure, allowing yourself to be carried by imagination's current.

For too long, I've been trapped in masculine energy patterns, forcing, pushing, grinding through resistance. The business world teaches us to hustle harder when things aren't working, to muscle our way through creative blocks, to treat our dreams like military campaigns that need conquering. But this approach left me depleted, disconnected from my intuition, and frankly, burned out.

Feminine energy operates differently. It's about receptivity, cycles, and trusting the natural ebb and flow of creativity. Just as the moon waxes and wanes, our creative energy has seasons. Fighting against these rhythms is like swimming upstream, exhausting and ultimately futile. When I stopped forcing myself to produce and instead created space for inspiration to find me, everything shifted.

What I'm learning is that what feels like "doing nothing" is actually profound inner work. Those months when I thought I was being lazy or unproductive? I was actually processing, integrating, and preparing for this next chapter. Our culture has conditioned us to believe that if we're not visibly producing, we're wasting time. But the feminine knows that the most beautiful flowers bloom after a period of dormancy.

This sacred pause allowed me to:

• Release old identities that no longer served me

• Process the emotional weight of being everyone's caregiver

• Reconnect with what truly lights me up (beyond external validation)

• Remember that my worth isn't dependent on my output

This is your reminder that you don't have to have it all figured out to begin. You don't need the perfect strategy or the ideal circumstances. You just need to start where you are, with what you have, and trust that your authentic voice is exactly what someone needs to hear.

The world is waiting for what only you can create. Not the polished, perfect version you think you should be, but the real, raw, beautifully imperfect you who has something meaningful to share.

I know how crazy that sounds. I was literally watching others live the life I wanted while numbing myself with food. I was procrastinating my own growth while consuming content about growth. But that version of me felt familiar. She felt safe. She had excuses for why her life wasn't where she wanted it to be.

That version of me never had to face the possibility of failure because she never really tried. She never had to deal with judgment because she stayed invisible. She never had to navigate the unknown because she stayed exactly where she was.

Learning how to choose myself meant grieving that version of me. The one who protected herself by staying small. The one who found comfort in familiar misery rather than risking unfamiliar joy.

The People Who Loved Your Limitations

When I was eating my feelings and avoiding my goals, I had a built-in excuse for why my life wasn't working. I could blame my circumstances, my genetics, my busy schedule. I could stay in victim mode, which, as uncomfortable as it was, felt familiar.

Now that I'm taking responsibility for my health, my business, my relationships, I don't have those excuses anymore. If something isn't working, I have to look at my choices. I have to own my power, which means owning my responsibility.

This shift from "life is happening to me" to "I'm creating my life" is terrifying. It means every day I choose whether to prioritize my life or slip back into old patterns. It means I can't blame anyone else for my results.

The Loneliness of Becoming

I see it everywhere in my coaching practice. Brilliant women stuck in mental loops, replaying conversations from five years ago, wondering if they said the right thing. Entrepreneurs who won't launch because "it's too late now" or "social media was easier back then." Business owners comparing every new client to their "amazing" past clients who probably weren't as perfect as memory suggests.

You're not your trauma. You're not your pain. You're not even your past successes. You are what you choose to do with all of it right now.

The Dangerous Romance with Yesterday

We romanticize our pain because it feels safer than facing uncertainty. I used to do this too. I'd spend hours analyzing past business decisions, wondering if I'd made the right choices. I'd tell myself my old content was better, my previous audience more engaged, my past self more capable.

The truth? I was using my past as an excuse to avoid showing up fully in my present.

When you spend time ruminating about your past, you're stealing energy from your future. Your brain has a limited capacity for focus and decision-making each day. Every minute spent analyzing what already happened is a minute not spent creating what could happen. You're essentially choosing to be a historian of your own life instead of the architect of it.

When you keep recalling past actions to judge whether you reacted correctly, you're living in a courtroom that exists only in your mind. You become both the prosecutor and the defendant, endlessly debating cases that can never be retried. This mental court session never reaches a verdict because there's no real resolution possible. The past cannot be changed, no matter how many times you replay it.

When you regret past experiences instead of extracting their lessons, you turn your history into a prison. Regret assumes you could have known then what you know now, which is impossible. Every experience was exactly what it needed to be to teach you what you needed to learn. The moment you shift from "I wish I hadn't" to "I'm glad I learned," you transform poison into medicine.

I had a client who spent three years regretting a failed product launch. She'd replay every marketing decision, every email, every social media post. Those three years of mental energy could have been used to create and launch five new products. Instead, she stayed stuck in analysis paralysis, convinced that understanding her past mistake would prevent future ones. What actually prevented future success was her inability to move forward.

How to Stop Living in the Past: Accept That Your Past Self Did Her Best

Your past self made decisions with the information, resources, and emotional capacity she had at the time. She wasn't wrong. She wasn't right. She was human. Judging her from your current perspective is like criticizing a child for not having adult wisdom.

Think about this deeply. Your past self was operating from a different level of consciousness, different knowledge, different emotional state, different circumstances. She was solving problems with the tools available to her then. You now have access to new tools, new knowledge, new perspectives that she didn't have. This doesn't make her choices wrong. It makes them contextual.

I remember beating myself up for years about a business partnership that ended badly. I'd replay every conversation, every email, every decision. I'd think "I should have seen the red flags" or "I should have set better boundaries." But my past self was optimistic, trusting, and focused on possibility rather than protection. Those weren't character flaws. They were the very qualities that allowed me to take risks and build relationships that did work out.

The version of me that entered that partnership was necessary. She had to experience that lesson to become the version of me that could recognize red flags and set firm boundaries. Without her naive optimism, I never would have started my business at all. Without her painful lesson, I never would have developed the discernment I have today.

Acceptance doesn't mean approval. It means peace. It means recognizing that your journey unfolded exactly as it needed to for you to become who you are now. Every "mistake" was actually a stepping stone. Every "wrong" decision was actually gathering intelligence for better decisions.

When you truly accept your past self, you stop the exhausting internal dialogue that keeps you trapped. You stop being your own worst critic and become your own wisest counselor. You start seeing your history as a curriculum rather than a crime scene.

How to Stop Thinking About the Past: Question Your Memory's Accuracy

Your brain isn't a video recorder. It's a storyteller, and it loves drama. That "perfect" past client relationship you keep comparing everyone to? You've probably edited out all the difficult moments, the late payments, the scope creep, the stress.

Memory is reconstruction, not playback. Every time you remember something, you're rebuilding it based on your current emotional state, beliefs, and needs. If you're feeling insecure about your current business, your brain will construct memories of when things were "better." If you're afraid of taking risks, your brain will highlight memories that justify staying safe.

I had a client who wouldn't hire new team members because her "previous assistant was irreplaceable." When we dug deeper, she remembered only the final six months of a three-year working relationship, conveniently forgetting the first two years of constant training, mistakes, and frustration. Her brain had edited out the struggle and kept only the smooth operation.

This is called rosy retrospection, and it's a cognitive bias that makes the past seem better than it actually was. Your brain does this to protect you from the pain of difficult memories, but it also traps you in comparison to a past that never actually existed.

The "golden age" of social media that entrepreneurs pine for? It was actually much harder then. There were fewer tools, less education, smaller audiences, and different algorithms that were just as challenging to navigate. But because some people found success then, and because the struggle feels distant now, memory reconstructs it as easier.

Your past clients weren't better. You were different. You were hungrier, more grateful, less discerning. You said yes to everything and everyone. Some of those clients were actually terrible, but you tolerated behavior you wouldn't accept now because you didn't believe you deserved better. Your current standards aren't the problem. Your selective memory is.

Memory also amplifies positive emotions and minimizes negative ones over time. That past version of your business that seems so appealing? You're remembering the excitement and forgetting the overwhelm. You're remembering the breakthrough moments and forgetting the breakdown moments. You're remembering the victories and forgetting the sleepless nights.

Start questioning your memories. When you catch yourself thinking "things were better before," ask yourself: What am I forgetting? What challenges did I face then that I'm not facing now? What problems did I have then that are actually solved now? Your current reality is probably much better than your idealized past, but your brain needs help seeing it clearly.

How to Stop Living in the Past: Recognize When You're Using It as an Excuse

"I can't start a business now, it's too late." "I can't grow on social media, it was easier before." "I can't charge premium prices, my past clients were better." Notice how all these statements use the past to justify present inaction?

The past becomes a comfortable excuse because it's unchangeable. You can't fail at something that already happened. But you can fail at something you're too afraid to try today.

Using the past as an excuse is a sophisticated form of self-sabotage. It sounds reasonable. It feels justified. It protects you from the vulnerability of trying and potentially failing. But it also protects you from the possibility of succeeding.

"It's too late" is never about time. It's about fear. There are people starting businesses at 70, changing careers at 50, learning new skills at 40. The only thing that makes it "too late" is your belief that it's too late. Your past becomes evidence for this limiting belief instead of experience that could fuel your future success.

"It was easier before" is never about difficulty. It's about unfamiliarity. Everything feels easier in retrospect because you're remembering the result, not the process. You've forgotten the learning curve, the confusion, the trial and error. Your brain has compressed years of gradual progress into a highlight reel that looks effortless.

I watch entrepreneurs compare their current follower growth rate to their past growth rate, forgetting that they started with zero followers and every single person who followed felt like a miracle. Now they have thousands of followers but feel disappointed by slow growth because they're comparing their current progress to their past excitement level, not their actual past results.

"My past clients were better" is never about the clients. It's about your confidence. You were different then. You were hungrier, more grateful, less jaded. You appreciated small wins because you hadn't achieved big ones yet. You were excited by basic projects because you hadn't done complex ones yet. Your clients weren't better. Your mindset was different.

The past excuse also shows up as perfectionism disguised as standards. "I used to create better content" really means "I'm afraid my current content isn't good enough." "My old programs were more valuable" really means "I'm not confident in my current offerings." You're using your past as evidence that you've somehow gotten worse, when the truth is you've gotten more critical.

Recognition is the first step to freedom. When you catch yourself using the past as an excuse, ask: What am I really afraid of right now? What would I do if the past wasn't an option to hide behind? What action would I take if I believed my best work was ahead of me, not behind me?

How to Stop Thinking About the Past: Understand Your Audience Wants Your Future Self

Your current audience didn't follow you for who you were five years ago. They're here for who you're becoming. They want your evolved perspective, your refined skills, your deeper wisdom. When you keep showing up as your past self, you're giving them a discount version of what they actually want.

This is crucial to understand. Your audience is attracted to your energy, your growth, your evolution. If they wanted your past self, they would have found you five years ago. They're here now because something about your current message, current energy, current content resonates with who they are now.

I spent two years trying to recreate the success of an old program, wondering why it wasn't working. My audience had evolved. I had evolved. The market had evolved. Everything except my willingness to let go of what used to work. I was trying to serve my current audience my past solutions to their current problems. It was like offering flip phones to people who wanted smartphones.

Your audience can sense when you're holding back, when you're playing small, when you're trying to be someone you used to be instead of someone you are now. They can feel the disconnection between your current self and your past persona. It creates confusion and reduces trust because they're not getting the authentic version of you.

When you stay stuck in your past identity, you're also limiting your audience's growth. They need to see you evolving, changing, becoming more of who you're meant to be. They need permission to outgrow their own past selves. When you model staying stuck, you give them permission to stay stuck too.

Your past content got you past results. Your current audience needs current solutions. Your future audience needs you to keep growing into the person who can serve them at their next level. The moment you decide your peak was behind you is the moment you stop being useful to the people who need you most.

I have clients who are afraid to share their current struggles because they think their audience expects them to have it all figured out based on their past success. But their audience is more interested in their current journey than their past achievements. They want to see the messy middle, the continued growth, the ongoing evolution. They want to know that success doesn't mean you stop growing.

Your audience is investing in your trajectory, not your history. They want to see where you're going, not where you've been. They want to be part of your current story, not hear about your past chapters. When you show up as your evolving self instead of your accomplished self, you give them something much more valuable: hope that they can evolve too.

How to Stop Living in the Past: Create New Reference Points

Your brain needs evidence that your best days aren't behind you. Start collecting new wins, new connections, new experiences. Make today remarkable instead of comparing it to yesterday.

Your brain operates on evidence. If all your evidence of success, happiness, and capability comes from the past, your brain will naturally conclude that your peak is behind you. You need to actively create new evidence that your power exists right now, in this moment, in this version of yourself.

Set small daily goals that prove your present self is capable. Complete them. Celebrate them. Build a new library of evidence that contradicts the story that your best days are over. This isn't about big achievements. This is about consistent proof that you can still create, still impact, still grow.

Start a "current wins" journal. Every day, write down three things you accomplished, no matter how small. Responded to an important email. Had a meaningful conversation. Learned something new. Created something valuable. Your brain needs to see current evidence of your capability, not just past trophies.

Create new experiences that have no comparison to your past. Take a class you've never taken. Visit a place you've never been. Start a project that's completely different from anything you've done before. These experiences become new reference points that exist only in your present and future, not in comparison to your past.

I started learning Spanish at 35, something I'd never done before. Every small progress I made became evidence that I could still learn, still grow, still challenge myself. It had no comparison to my business success or past achievements. It was purely current evidence of current capability.

Build new relationships that know only your current self. Surround yourself with people who see you as you are now, not as you were then. Their perception of you becomes evidence of your current value, current worth, current potential. Old relationships often keep you stuck in past versions of yourself because that's who they know you as.

Set new goals that have nothing to do with recreating past success. Instead of trying to get back to where you were, focus on going where you've never been. This creates forward momentum instead of backward comparison. Your energy goes into creating rather than recreating.

Track new metrics that matter to your current life, not your past life. If you used to measure success by revenue, maybe now you measure it by impact. If you used to measure worth by productivity, maybe now you measure it by presence. New measurements create new evidence of success.

This March has been one of the hardest months I’ve ever experienced.

I’m not good at expressing my emotions, which is why I’ve spent so long coping with them by eating. But this time, I decided not to eat my emotions away and to write instead: it’s hard.

I’m currently on a weight loss journey. Not seeking comfort in candy, ice cream, or chips is both simple and difficult at the same time.

You might wonder why it’s so hard. I recently learned about the passing of a cousin whom I considered a brother. He passed away in his sleep, without warning. I still can’t process it. Tomorrow, I’m attending his funeral, and it feels surreal. Some days, I feel okay, I laugh, and then there are days when I’m angry, sad, and depressed. The hardest part is that every night, I think about it.

On top of that, my parents are sick. My mother, who suffers from arthritis, just had knee surgery, and I’ve become her caregiver. My father has cancer, though thankfully, it’s under control, thank God.

So how do I even begin to think about myself? I don’t know. I can’t seem to finish my business offers or create content to grow my business. Furthermore, I guess this is just a normal phase.

One of the things we are taught from a young age is to seek comfort, to seek security. To achieve that, we’re told we must do well in school, get a good job, and create the life of our dreams. So, we strive for good grades, memorize things by heart to be perfect, and do everything "the right way" to reach the life we want.

But the problem is that this constant pursuit of perfection and fear of doing things wrong makes us afraid to try new things. We fear failure. We get stuck in a vicious cycle: wanting more from life but feeling too paralyzed by fear to take action. Fear holds us back from starting something new, whether it's launching a business, losing weight, beginning a new physical activity, or moving to a new place. Even our loved ones, who are also stuck in their comfort zones, discourage us from doing anything out of the ordinary, like starting a business.

So, how do we overcome this fear to finally create the life we deserve?

For a long time, I was afraid to start something new, whether it was launching an offer or writing in English. This fear of starting held me back because I kept telling myself that people wouldn’t understand me. We always wait for the "right moment", for the stars to align, for Mercury to stop being in retrograde, for a perfect day when everything goes smoothly: before starting a diet, a business, or any big change.

It took me a long time to take the leap because I wanted everything to be perfect. I wanted full control over every detail, which led me to procrastinate on unimportant things. When I launched my podcast, I spent months agonizing over the name, the right photo, the perfect font, and the wording. It took me two months just to release a single episode. Then I stopped for nine months because I kept making excuses, it wasn’t perfect enough. In reality, I was just afraid. And that’s what we need to talk about: why we are so scared to start.

I stopped posting on Instagram and TikTok for several months: first due to illness, then out of fear of doing things wrong. Update of my life

I haven’t been able to write lately, and I want to apologize. I’ve been dealing with family issues: my mother has been ill, so I had to slow down. I’m still writing on my other Substack, Mademoiselle Substack, but I wasn’t able to keep up here. I also took a break from my podcasts; I have two, one in French and one in English.

Between hospital visits and being a caregiver, I was completely exhausted and couldn’t manage anything else.
