For me, the greatest tv/movie couple of all time (controversial, I know!) was Rebecca and Jack Pearson from the tv show “This is Us”; Watch the show and you will see why. All over our world, we see so many examples of love. Whether through entertainment, our families, friendships, etc.. You see so many displays of love. However, why is it that so many people feel so lonely? Why are so many young people single? Why do we live in a hook-up culture where love is treated as transactional? These are the questions that i was asking the lord the other day because as many young people my age, I also crave to be loved. However, in order for us to truly be loved or know how to love someone else, we have to actually discover what love actually is.

The Wikipedia definition of Love is “a deep, powerful feeling of strong affection, care, and attachment involving intimacy, passion, and commitment”. However, The Bible defines love as not it being a feeling but an action, a choice, and the very core nature of God. Simply put, God is love. He doesn’t give us love, That is who he is in essence. 1 Corinthians really lays out the true nature of God by describing what Love is:

Love is Patient- 2 Peter 3:9

“The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”

Love is Kind- Psalm 145:8

“How very kind the Lord is! He is very patient and his faithful love continues..”

Love does not envy- James 1:17

“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow”

I can bring so many examples of what the Bible says Love is, but the point is- We cannot know Love if we don’t know God. People are tirelessly trying to prove they are worthy of love to other people, when God already demonstrated we are by dying on the cross for us. We don’t have to prove we need to be loved, God already loved us since the beginning! If we look at the types of Love (Romantic, Friendship, Family, etc), those all describe the Love God demonstrates (WHO HE IS). How can we give or accept love if we don’t have that genuine relationship with the father? He created us in his image in order to serve him, why not love him? If you want to discover what true love is, we must get to know God for who he truly is. He will show us what we are missing, fill us up with more of him so that we don’t have to try and find love in anyone else. God is Love! True Love=Know who God is

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" amazing! This film really related to a lot of people in their late teens to their twenties. It really was a fantastic look into Peter Parker’s life as himself, not as Spider Man and how tough change truly is for someone just starting to live life.

Peter lost everything all at once in one movie; He lost his aunt, his best friend, and true love in order to save the universe. In this film, we see how Peter deals with grief and trying to function when things are not the same anymore. In life, things can change at an instant. God can separate us from everything we have every loved, whether friends or family in order for us to actually focus on our purpose, which is to grow more in him so his will can be done on this earth. Peter was changing, in all aspects. His body was going through changes, he didn’t necessarily have a will to live so he just put himself in work without wanting to stop, he was grieving, etc. How many times in our life it happens where changing is happening all at once. Friendships coming and going, your body changes, family dynamics shift, changing from high school to college or graduating, etc.. All of it can become pretty overwhelming at some point. Peter at one point broke down in the film because the changes caught up to him, Jean was in his head, his true love didn’t remember him therefore didn’t love him.

One thing that I really took from this film was that Change is necessary for our growth. Phillipans 1:6 says,“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." God is molding us into the man/woman he wants us to be, it requires change (which hurts). As a Spider enters its season of molting where it hurts, so do we have to enter a season of change in order for us to grow into who we are called to be. Peter couldn’t be the best hero he could be if he stayed lamenting the loss of everyone he loved. Life has to move on, we cannot stay stuck in the same place we once were. We have to let go and keep moving in order to be a better person. Change hurts, especially when we are so used to certain people or environments. However, it is all worth it in the end when we come out of the season transformed into a better version of ourselves. It took Peter accepting that things weren’t the same to move on, he had to embrace change to welcome new beginnings.

You maybe going through a season where you don’t understand what God is doing, a season where you are completely lost. That is when you should fully put your trust in him, he is the guide to where you need to be. The Israelites spent 400 years in the desert searching for the promised land, but God was there with them the entire time. Let yourself be guided by the Lord, he knows the steps you need to take. Embrace the fact that things are no longer the same, because it means there is something better for you. You’re breakthrough is coming, stand firm! Trust the changes God is doing because soon, a Brand-New Day is coming for you too (See what i did there?)

God Bless you!

My Testimony

I didn't meet God in church, I met him in the hospital.

Walking in Purpose

I didn't meet God in church, I met him in the hospital. I was born in October, pretty cool month because of the fall coming in. I am the second born child, but the only boy in the family. My mom tells me that even at six months, she would feel contractions. When the time came, I was born two weeks early (meaning I was premature). Because of this, I had complications at birth. I weighed about five pounds and oxygen was not going into my brain. The doctors sat my parents down and basically explained to them that I was not going to be a "normal child", that I wasn't going to be completely immobile. I would not have the ability to walk, talk, or even fend for myself. However, God's grace is the reason why I'm writing this today.

When there is a purpose for your life, the enemy will do whatever he can to try and make that purpose not fulfill itself. There have been many moments where i have felt weak, but God has been there to pick me through all of it.

Being raised in the Gospel, it is not an easy road. I was raised in a military family, my father served in the space of twenty years. To be completely transparent, my father was absent in many important developments in my childhood due to him serving the country. His two deployments were the worst times of our life, seeing my mom struggle by herself was grueling to watch as a kid. I remember in his second deployment, everything stopped working in the middle of winter. However, being a family of faith, we had full belief in God and what he could in our lives.

As I grew up, my parents always instilled in us the fear of God and the importance of prayer and actually being intimate with him. even at a young age, I felt the Holy Spirit touch my heart at a moment. However, I didn't know the God I served. It wasn't until about three years ago, that I truly started having a true connection with God.

On a Friday morning, I was doing my routine of picking up my daily dose of caffeine (energy drink, don't judge me). I came to work and I was feeling fine. Throughout the day, I was getting these really bad stomach pains. I would be in the bathroom two to three times, but nothing. Finally, my boss sent me home because the pain was getting worse. The pain was so unbearable that I was lying down on the couch, writhing in pain. After a few hours, the pain went away. I felt better, even went to church. After I got home, the pain became worse at around 3 AM. This was a pain that I would never wish on anyone! Finally, at around seven, I woke my sister up and told her to take me to an Urgent care. The nurse gave me some medication to see if it would help, but nothing. She tells me in a panicked voice, "you need to go to an emergency room". So my sister drives me to a stand-alone emergency room and when the doctor runs the tests, He discovers that I had pancreatitis. My pancreas was inflamed because my gallbladder had about three stones surrounding it, so I had to get it removed. The problem was, there was no beds in the hospitals near me so they had to transfer me to one about 45 minutes to an hour away to where I lived. Once I get there, they schedule my surgery for that same day. Surgery went well, but they wanted to keep me over night just for recovery. That night, I got up to use the restroom. Once I was returning to the bed, I completely fainted and the whole group of nurses who were on call that night entered in a panic to see what happened. When they ran the tests to see why I fainted, it turns out that I was bleeding internally. Something happened during surgery that caused me to bleed. Because of that, my hemoglobin levels were slowly decreasing. Normally, your levels are supposed to be at around 13-17. However, my levels were ranging between 5-9 which was dangerously critical. I stayed in the hospital for about six days, getting my blood drawn every four hours to see if my levels had risen.

In that moment, I was so distraught. I felt like my life was ending, I was mad at God. I wanted to give up because why is this happening to me? I've served God all my life and this happens to me. However, what I didn't realize is that this was the only moment God had with me for so long. I was so busy, that I didn't take out the time to actually be with him and look for him. In our life, we become like Martha in the Bible that we do everything but don't enjoy the moment when the master is there. God had to make me stop, put my life on hold so I can refocus my attention him.

The day before I got discharged, I get a call from my grandma. She is one of those grandmothers who are prayer warriors, she wakes up at 3 AM to pray and has that close relationship with the lord. She calls for me and prays one of the most powerful prayers then she sings a beautiful song about the blood of Jesus and how it heals. In that moment, I felt something moving inside me. It almost felt like it was a hand restoring me, like God was literally healing and sowing up the wound. That's when I knew who God truly is, that is when I actually knew the God that I served.

I want to leave you with this verse-"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong."- 2nd Corinthians 12:9-10

God bless you

<a class="image-link image2 is-viewable-img" target="_blank" 3:23

It pains me to say that our generation is a generation that constantly screams for validation. We see “Influencers” create content based on things they do; most of the time, it is damage control, trying to preserve their image. Churches are turning the sacred sanctuary and altar into places of business or to promote something that is completely against God. People dare to do things that were literally reasons why Jesus was flipping tables in the first place.

People do things to look good when in reality, we have to do things for the Glory of God. The Bible says, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). Jesus warns us to not do things just to be seen (Matthew 6:1), but we are doing the exact opposite. An example I can use is People in the so-called “Gospel Music “or “Worship” Genre. It pains me to see how people think that Worship is just a genre, that anyone can sing a song to God because they believe it is interchangeable.

David questions in Psalm 24, “Who may climb the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure,
Those who do not worship idols
    And never tell lies”

Unfortunately, we have artists who live a worldly life, but have a “change of heart,” so they decide to start singing to God. When in reality, most of the time, they do it for money or fame. The sad reality is, the church of God is one of the most gullible populations. We lack discernment that we think anyone comes from God or deserves a chance, when that is not our place to decide. These artists have their “15 seconds of Transformation”, but go back to their life of sin. People have mixed darkness and light, when we are supposed to be separate. These Christian “artists” and “groups” sing to God, but associate themselves with the world. They do this because their main focus is on popularity, money, and success. When in reality, our focus should be on expanding the Kingdom of God. It makes me sad how many Christian artists have “Sold out” to the world, using God as a cover for their own agenda. We have become blinded by conformity and the deceptions of the enemy, we need to wake up!

We must be living our lives for God and only for him. He should be the only one in our audience, not anyone else. We need to stop compromising ourselves, our values, and our relationship with God to please the world. True fulfillment is in our lord, nothing else! We should not look for validation in people’s attention, but in what we do in God.

Stay blessed everyone

More of you, Less of Me

“ He must become fetchpriority="high"></picture>

If we examine the story of John the Baptist, we see the fantastic works he accomplished. He was known as the prophet of both times because he emerged after the 400 years of silence between Matthew and Malachi. He preceded Jesus by about six months; The Bible claims that when their mothers’ bellies touched, John was filled with Holy Spirit in the womb (Luke 1:41-44)

John the Baptist had his followers before Jesus did; he preached the Gospel with authority! He had the opportunity to baptize Jesus, but the beautiful thing was that he stayed humble. John the Baptist had a reputation to back up that he was the best. He did all these things before Jesus came; He could’ve been self-centered. However, he recognized Jesus’s divinity and authority. In John chapter 3, John the Baptist’s disciples were questioning why people were going to Jesus and not him. I love his response when he affirms to them that he is not the messiah, he just prepared the way for him. In Chapter 1, He says he is not even worthy to untie his sandals! This was John the Baptist, the man who paved the way for Jesus; This wasn’t some random guy. He could’ve given himself credit or be cocky about his ministry. However, the amazing thing was that John recognized Jesus as the true Son of God. He understood that in order for him to grow, God had to be more.

Unfortunately, People have lost that gift of humility. We live in a world where people look for applause than they look for Christ. Everything is I did this and I did that, when in reality, it should always be about God. If John the Baptist had every right to boast about his status and he didn’t, what gives us the right to think we are better than Jesus? Without him, we are nothing. He gave his life so we can live freely and abundantly. Every day we have to want more of God; More of his love, more of his power, more of him!

In order for us to grow, we have to humble ourselves before God; We have to be willing to be servants of the Great I AM. A quote from the book I am reading says “Servanthood requires Obedience”. If we want to serve him, we must obey him in every aspect in our life! Our world does not need to see what we can do, but people need to desperately need to witness what God wants to accomplish through. Let people see Christ in you, not your ego or pride. Let us be like John the Baptist, that although he did everything before Jesus, he still recognized him as the lord and savior of the world! We must have more of him and less of us in order to grow.

The Potter

The Potter is at his wheel, forming the clay He spends minutes, hours forming the clay into the instrument he needs. He puts it through the fire to harden and be useful. The instrument is cracked or damaged, so the potter has to break it and start the process again to create the most perfect instrument for his use.

In a Spiritual Context, we are the Clay and God is the Potter. God created man From dust and formed him, gave him the breath of life. Just like a potter does, he forms us and created us for a purpose in his kingdom.

In order to be used for his glory, it is necessary to go through the fire. The process hurts, but God says in Isaiah that when we go through the fire, he will be with us. We have an advantage that people in the world do not have, we have a close relationship with the father. If we put our trust in him, he will work in our favor. We realize that we go through trials and sufferings, but it is for our own good. One thing that God has been teaching me these past few days is that, everything that we go through is making us stronger. If we let every situation that happens to us dictate our future, we will never be happy or successful. God allows the circumstances to mold us into the person he wants us to be.

If we allow God to perfect his creation (which is us), we can be great instruments for him. How long are you going to be weighed down by your thoughts, emotions, people, etc? God is calling us to believe in him and in his purpose so we can be stronger each day! Let us be like Isaiah when he said,

“But now, O Lord, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand”-Isaiah 64:8

If we want to be used by God, we have to allow him to mold us into his perfect creation. Unfortunately, people always tend to go and do their own thing. Humans want to go and try to depend on their own strengths, when we are weak without God. the Bible says a million times to Trust in God! We cannot depend on ourselves or any man on this earth to help us with our trials, we have to depend on God. In these instances, God has to break us down in order for us to realize we need him! We go through the furnace, we get broken down but like the Bible says “Not destroyed” (2 Corinthians 4:810)

Every hard situation that we grow through, it makes us stronger each day. Of course our human minds won’t understand it, but our spirit will always understand God’s plan for us. Paul says that ” Though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is being renewed day by day” (2 Corinthians 4:16). He gives us the strength to carry on, he gives us the necessary tools to face the trials. He is the Potter and we are his clay, I encourage you to let yourself be molded by him so you can used for his glory!

God bless you!

Be guided by the Shepherd

“The Lord is my 23: 1-3

By the Grace of God, i have been allowed to be the youth leader at my church. The age group i lead is from 11 years to around 22 years old. Last night, during Bible Study, we studied the nature of God. One aspect we looked at was how God is all-knowing. In the book that we were studying, the author gave the example of being in the middle of the battlefield and being led by a person who knows where all the land mines are. If we actually want to live, then obviously we would want to be led by them.

When you read about what a shepherd does for the sheep, it’s actually astonishing! A shepherd finds correct pastures that the sheep can feed on, leads them to the correct path, protects them from predators, and cares for them when they’re injured or sick. When you think about it, that is exactly what God does for us in our lives. Jesus declared himself as the good shepherd because he gave his life for his sheep (John 10:11-18). The question is, are we willing to be guided by him?

Many times in our lives, we feel lost or like we don’t have a purpose. However, when we’re guided by him, we won’t have to question anything he does for us. He will lead us to where He wants us to go. He knows our future, so we should ask him to guide us! The Bible says in James to ask God for wisdom, and he will give it to us. In any important decision that we make in our lives, God should be the number one person we go to. Why not trust the one who knows it all and gave his life for us so we can live abundantly? He is the good shepherd; he will guide us to the correct path even if we stray.

Sometimes, we become too stubborn and want to take our own path. Then, when it ends wrong for us, we blame God (what sense does that make?). What I have come to realize in my life is that God’s purpose will be fulfilled no matter how much we try to stray away from it. We can try to take an opposite path, but it will all lead back to him. He knows what is best for u; His plan is much better than any plan that we have for ourselves. The shepherd always looks out for his sheep, Thank God we have the good shepherd that always looks out for us! The Bible says that the one who guards you, never sleeps (Psalm 121:4,) so we should not fret or be dismayed because he is with us until the end of time!

We just have to be calm and be guided by him because he cares for us. We have to have the faith that he will work in our lives. He always has the better plan! The question is, are we willing to put our pride aside and be guided by God? We have to allow him to write our story and not steal the writing credit from him. Give him full control of your life, and you will see the blessing that comes from surrendering your life to him completely! The road is going to be scary, but we should not fear because we have God on our side!

When we are led by the shepherd, he provides all that we need. We don’t need to look for any external sources; Christ is all that we need! Let us always look to him for provision.

God bless you

¡Sigue nadando! Dios te bendiga
