If you’re reading this, you’ve been with us a while.

Some of you found this page years ago, when it was a handful of people writing about the country we love and the people who built it. You stayed through the changes. You read the long ones. You sent the notes that kept us going on the nights we weren’t sure anyone was reading. Whatever brought you here, and however long you stayed, thank you. You are the reason this work was never just words on a screen.

Somewhere along the way, the writing here found its purpose. It stopped being about systems in the abstract and started being about the children caught inside them. “Save the Children” didn’t stay just a catchphrase for us. The kids who go missing and don’t make the news. The families who get lost in a process nobody explained to them. The neighbors who would help if they only knew how. That became our singular focus.

That purpose has a name now: Project Milk Carton.

It’s a nonprofit. It’s a community. And it’s where everything we do lives from here on.

Why this page is going quiet

We’re a 501(c)(3), and that comes with responsibilities about what we say and how we say it. Much of the older writing here doesn’t belong under a charity’s name. We’ve taken it down and let this page rest for the sake of the kids we all want to help. It’s not farewell. It’s just a pivot. A change of address.

What’s waiting for you

Project Milk Carton is where we teach families how the child-welfare system actually works. Where we put the faces of missing kids back in front of people who might recognize one. Where ordinary people like all of us, parents, teachers, veterans, retirees, anyone with a spare hour and a compassionate heart, can learn how to show up for a child in their own town.

Every new post over there, from here on out, comes with something you can actually do. That’s a promise. You’ll never finish reading one of our articles from September 2026 forward and wonder, “okay, but what now?”
