grandparents, or relatives whenever we come home from a wake.

In Filipino beliefs, there is a saying called pagpag. It is a tradition connected to the belief that after attending a wake or visiting a place where someone has died, you should not immediately go straight home. Instead, you are supposed to stop somewhere first—a store, a friend's house, or anywhere else—before returning home. Some believe that doing this prevents whatever might have followed you from the wake from coming home with you.

Whether you believe in it or not, we always strangely do the idea of pagpag. Because sometimes, we carry things home without realizing it.

Not spirits.

Not ghosts.

But memories.

Especially when it comes to love.

Ayan na naman tayo sa pagmamahal eh!

When you fall in love with someone, you do not just spend time with them. You collect little pieces of them without meaning to. Their favorite songs become familiar to you. Their jokes become memories. Certain places start reminding you of them. Even ordinary things—a specific time of a day, a random street, a familiar scent, a message notification—can suddenly bring a person back into your mind.

And when that person is no longer in your life, those things do not disappear just because the relationship did.

Sometimes, moving on is not about leaving someone behind. It is about learning what you should not carry home with you.

Perhaps that is what pagpag can mean when we look at it through love. Maybe after loving someone, we need a place to stop before returning to ourselves. Because we cannot always go directly from “I love you” to “I am okay without you.”

There has to be a space in between.

A quiet period where you allow yourself to remember without returning. A time when you can miss someone without believing that missing them means you should go back. A moment where you slowly separate the person from the memories they left behind.

Maybe after breaking up, you shouldn't immediately return to the same version of yourself. You need somewhere to stop—to become someone who can finally go home without carrying them with you.

Maybe that is our emotional pagpag.

We stop somewhere between loving them and letting them go.

And perhaps that is why moving on can take longer than we expect. You cannot always go home immediately after losing someone; sometimes, you need to stop somewhere and remember who you were before them.

We often think that moving on means forgetting.

We think that if we still remember someone, then perhaps we have not moved forward. If we still smile at an old memory, maybe we are still stuck. If a song reminds us of them, maybe we are not completely over them yet.

But maybe moving on was never supposed to mean forgetting.

Maybe it means remembering without being pulled back.

You can appreciate what someone meant to you without needing them in your life again. You can be grateful for the memories without wishing to recreate them. You can admit that you loved someone deeply while also accepting that the love has reached its ending.

That is not failure, but a growth.

Maybe pagpag teaches us that leaving a place does not automatically mean everything from that place should come with us. Some things can stay behind.

The conversations.

The expectations.

The imagined future.

The version of yourself that existed when you were with them.

And sometimes, even the question of “What if?”

Not everything that followed you through the relationship deserves to follow you into the life after it.

Perhaps this is the hardest part of letting someone go. You are not only saying goodbye to the person. You are also saying goodbye to the future you imagined with them. You imagined birthdays together. Random afternoons. Growing older. Meeting each other's families. Having more memories. You imagined that the story would continue, because when you love someone, it is natural to imagine that they will still be there tomorrow.

Then one day, you realize that tomorrow does not look the way you imagined.

And you have to learn how to walk into it anyway.

Letting go is simply shaking the dust of yesterday from your clothes before stepping into tomorrow.

And maybe that is where pagpag becomes more than a Filipino superstition.

It becomes a reminder.

After everything, perhaps we need to stop before going home—not because something supernatural might follow us, but because our memories might.

We need time to let the feelings settle.

We need time to understand what happened.

We need time to separate love from attachment, memories from reality, and the person we lost from the person we are becoming.

And eventually, we go home, not because we forgot them. But because we finally understand that home is still ours, even after someone leaves it. Moving on is simply learning to go home without bringing someone who no longer lives there.

And that is the quiet beauty of it. It does not ask us to erase what happened. It only reminds us that not everything we encounter has to become something we carry forever.

Some people are meant to be remembered.

Some memories are meant to be kept.

And some things, no matter how deeply we loved them, have to be left somewhere along the way. Maybe we just need to stop for a while.

Breathe.

Look at the life waiting for us.

And when we are ready, finally go home.

Not everything we carry after loving someone deserves to come home with us.

Huwag mo nang dalhin ang namatay na pagmamahal. Ipagpag mo na ’yan.

you certain kind of heartbreak in realizing that you can no longer return to a place where you once belonged. Sometimes, the final act of love is accepting that you no longer belong in the story they chose to continue without you. Sometimes, we hold onto the hope that if we explain ourselves enough, remind them of the memories you shared, or show them how much you still care, they will eventually look at you the way they used to. But people change, feelings change, and sometimes, someone who once knew every little thing about you becomes someone who barely recognizes your name.

Because you cannot force someone who has long forgotten you to recognize you again.

You can remind them of the memories, but you cannot make them feel what they once felt. You can stay, but you cannot make someone notice your presence. You can love them sincerely, but love does not give you the power to rewrite another person’s heart. There comes a point when remembering someone becomes less about hoping they will return and more about understanding what their presence once taught you. You can be grateful for the person they were without needing them to become that person again. You can miss them without reaching for them.

And you can accept that someone has forgotten you while still remembering that, for a certain period of your life, you were once important to each other. You remember the little things—the conversations, the laughter, the way they used to look at you—and sometimes you wonder if any of it still exists in their mind. But memories are not promises.

Just because something mattered deeply to you does not mean you have to keep waiting for it to matter the same way to someone else. And perhaps acceptance begins when you stop trying to become familiar to someone who has already chosen to forget you.

Being forgotten hurts, but being remembered by someone who no longer cares can hurt even more.

Some people are meant to remember us. Some are meant to forget. And neither makes what you shared any less real. Sometimes, letting someone forget you is not losing them.

It is finally allowing yourself to stop chasing a version of them that no longer exists.

And you cannot knock forever on a door that no longer remembers your name.

The heaviest bag I ever carried was invisible.

It was expectations.

Ang pinaka mabigat na bag na binuhat ko ay hindi school bag, kundi expectations.

Expectations from my family. From teachers. From people who believed in me. And sometimes, from myself.

Bilang Filipino, pamilyar sa atin ang tanong na, “Anong gusto mong maging paglaki mo?” At habang bata tayo, parang simpleng tanong lang ’yon. But as we grow older, the question slowly changes.

“Ano na ang grades mo?”

“Anong kukunin mong course?”

“Kailan ka gagraduate?”

“May trabaho ka na ba?”

And eventually, the questions become expectations.

Be successful.

Make your parents proud.

Don't waste the sacrifices they made for you.

Be better than the generation before you.

Make something out of yourself.

Minsan, hindi naman tayo pinipilit. Pero ramdam natin na kailangan nating maging successful para masuklian ang lahat ng sakripisyo nila.

That is the strange thing about expectations. Sometimes, nobody actually tells you that you have to be perfect.

You simply feel like you have to be.

You see your parents working hard, and suddenly failure feels like something you are not allowed to experience. You see the sacrifices they made for your education, and every low grade feels heavier than it should. You hear them say, “Ikaw ang pag-asa namin,” and somehow, your dreams stop feeling like they belong entirely to you. Na kapag hindi mo naabot ang pangarap na ’yon, babagsak ka.

Because now, there are other people's dreams inside them. Maybe that is why some students cry over grades that are still considered good. Maybe that is why some young people are terrified of making the wrong career choice. Maybe that is why saying “I don't know what I want yet” can feel like admitting that you have failed.

The hardest part of growing up is realizing that sometimes, the future you are chasing was chosen for you before you even knew what you wanted.

But expectations are not always bad.

Sometimes, they come from love.

Our parents want us to have the opportunities they never had. They want us to live a little easier than they did. They want their sacrifices to mean something. And that love deserves to be appreciated. But we also have to understand that being grateful does not mean we owe everyone the exact future they imagined for us.

We can honor our parents without becoming a version of ourselves that exists only to make them proud. We can work hard without believing that one mistake makes us a disappointment.

We can have dreams that change.

We can rest.

We can fail.

We can take our time.

Because at the end of the day, we are not machines built to fulfill expectations. We are people still trying to understand who we are.

Maybe someday, I will finally put that invisible bag down.

Not because I stopped caring about the people who believe in me, but because I finally learned that their expectations do not have to determine my worth.

Hindi sukatan ng halaga ko kung gaano karami ang expectations na kaya kong dalhin.

And maybe growing up is not about carrying the heaviest bag without complaining.

Maybe it is learning which things are truly ours to carry—and which ones we were never meant to carry alone.

jeep ang naging unpaid therapist ng mga pilipino.

the jeep never asked what was wrong. bag.

Nobody really talks about how jeep can be a good therapist. But I think the jeep has quietly listened to more stories than most people ever will.

Not because we speak inside it. But because we don't. After a long day of school, work, or simply trying to survive, we climb into a jeep without saying much. We pay our fare, squeeze ourselves into whatever space is left, and wait for the engine to start. Then, little by little, the world begins to move.

At first, we're just looking outside. Then somehow, we're looking inside ourselves. The sound of the engine becomes background noise. The wind slips through the open windows. Streetlights pass one by one. Vendors are closing their stalls. Convenience stores are still bright while the rest of the city slowly gets quieter. Every familiar street reminds us that we're almost home.

Or maybe... that we're going back to a place we're not ready to return to. There is something about riding a jeep at night that makes everything feel honest.

Maybe it's because nobody expects anything from you inside a jeep. No one asks why you're quiet. No one notices if you've been staring at the same street for five minutes. You don't have to explain yourself. You're just another passenger trying to get home.

And for a few minutes, that feels enough.

Some people replay conversations they wish had gone differently. Some silently count how much money they have left until payday. Students think about tomorrow's quiz they haven't studied for. Parents wonder how they'll make tomorrow's budget work. Some people look out the window while pretending they're not trying to stop themselves from crying. Nobody knows.

hindi alam ni jeep kung ilang story na ang sumakay sa kanya.

The woman sitting across from you might have just finished a twelve-hour shift. The student beside you might be worrying about tuition. The man asleep near the driver might be more exhausted than he looks.

We're all carrying something. We just happen to be carrying it together.

Sometimes, I wonder how many dreams have sat inside a jeep. Dreams of students hoping they pass tomorrow's exam. Dreams of workers telling themselves, "Konti na lang, weekend na." Dreams of parents silently computing if this week's salary will be enough until the next one. And dreams of people who no longer know what they're chasing—they're just trying to get through another day.

The jeep doesn't know any of this. It simply carries them anyway.

I also think about how many decisions have been made while staring through a jeepney window.

Should I resign?

Should I confess?

Should I keep fighting for this dream?

Should I go home?

Or should I stay a little longer because I don't think I can face what's waiting for me?

Nobody hears those questions.

But somehow, they always show up during the ride home. Maybe it's because the city looks different from inside a jeep. You notice the little things. The father carrying his sleeping child. The street sweeper finishing another shift. The old couple closing their small store. The students laughing as if they don't have problems waiting for them tomorrow.

For a few minutes, you stop thinking that you're the only one having a hard time. You remember that everyone is trying.

Everyone is tired.

Everyone is hoping that tomorrow will be kinder.

And maybe that's what makes the ride feel lighter. There are nights when the air is cold enough that you don't mind the long ride.

You rest your arm against the window, letting the wind hit your face. It doesn't solve your problems, but somehow it slows them down. The thoughts are still there. The worries are still there. But they no longer feel like they're shouting.

They're just... sitting beside you. There are also nights when you don't even realize you've reached your stop. You were too busy thinking about life.

About the person you miss. About the future you're scared of. About the version of yourself you're still trying to become.

Then someone says, "Bayad po." Or the driver calls your destination. And just like that, reality returns. You step off the jeep, fix your bag, take one deep breath, and continue living. The ride was short. Life is still waiting. But for those few minutes between one stop and another, you were allowed to be nothing more than a tired person looking out the window.

Maybe that's why so many Filipinos feel attached to jeepneys.

Not because they're comfortable.

They're not. They're crowded. They're noisy. Sometimes they're hot. Sometimes they break down in the middle of the road. But somehow, they became part of our healing.

Because healing doesn't always happen in quiet rooms. Sometimes, it happens while passing familiar streets, with the wind on your face, twenty pesos in your pocket, and the hope that tomorrow might finally feel a little lighter.

For a few kilometers, strangers become quiet companions. No introductions. No life stories. Just people sharing the same road, hoping tomorrow will somehow be lighter than today.

The jeep doesn't give advice. It doesn't tell you everything will be okay. It simply lets you sit with your thoughts until your stop arrives. And sometimes, that's exactly what we need. Maybe that's why so many Filipinos breathe a little deeper during the ride home.

Not because life suddenly becomes easier. But because, for a while, they don't have to perform. They don't have to smile for customers. They don't have to answer teachers. They don't have to pretend they're strong for their family.

For a few minutes, they're simply someone watching the city pass by through an open window.

Maybe the jeep never knew it. But it became the first safe place many Filipinos had after a long day.

Not our homes. Not our schools. Not our workplaces. Just an old jeep, running through familiar streets, carrying tired people who needed somewhere to quietly fall apart before walking through the door and saying

"Nandito na 'ko."

I will learn your language, so I may become fluent in the dialect of your heart.

I will learn it, again, and dear.

Lately, while studying, I found myself wondering: is there a language you learn when you love someone?

Not the kind spoken in classrooms or written in dictionaries, but one that slowly reveals itself through a person’s habits, silences, preferences, and fears.

Perhaps there is. Because when you truly care for someone, knowing their name is never enough—you begin to long to understand them.

Love is often found in the details that most people forget.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that every person carries a language of their own. Some speak through words, while others speak through the pauses between them.

Some confess their feelings openly, while others hide them behind laughter and changing subjects. And when you love someone, you begin studying these things without even noticing.

You remember how they take their coffee, which songs they always return to, the stories they have told more than once, and the things they pretend do not hurt them. Not because you have to remember, but because their existence has become precious to you.

To be loved is to be seen; to be seen is to be remembered.

There is something beautiful and heartbreaking about learning a person’s language. The more fluent you become, the more you understand the parts of them that the world overlooks. You learn the weight of their disappointments, the shape of their hopes, and the quiet battles they never speak about.

You begin to notice when their smile is genuine and when it is simply brave. And somehow, their joys matter to you as much as their sorrows. Their heart becomes a place you walk through carefully, afraid of stepping on anything fragile.

In a world that forgets so quickly, love chooses to remember.

Perhaps that is what I mean when I say, I will learn your language, so I may become fluent in the dialect of your heart. Not that I wish to know everything about you, but that I wish to know enough to care for you well.

Enough to remember the things you thought no one noticed. Enough to understand the meanings hidden beneath your silence. Because love, at its core, is not merely admiration—it is attention.

It is choosing, over and over again, to hold someone’s small truths with tenderness. And maybe the greatest gift we can offer another person is: to know them deeply, and still keep learning.

for the angry daughters: you seem full of was scrolling through social media when I came across an essay about daughters who are labeled as the "angry" one, or sometimes the "difficult" one. It made me stop and think. Then I realized something: I was never the easy daughter, but rather, I was the angry daughter.

Maybe that is what people saw. The girl who spoke with frustration in her voice. The daughter who questioned things she did not understand.

The one who refused to smile through pain just to keep the peace. It was easy to call her difficult. It was easier than asking why she was hurting in the first place.

Some daughters are called angry simply because they stopped pretending they were okay.

The thing about the angry daughter is that people often mistake her anger for cruelty. They see the raised voice but not the countless times she swallowed her feelings before she finally spoke.

They see the resistance but not the wounds that taught her she could no longer endure everything quietly. They notice the fire, but not what started it.

And yet, for someone described as angry, she carries an unbelievable amount of empathy. She knows what it feels like to be unheard, so she listens carefully. She knows what it feels like to be misunderstood, so she tries to understand others.

She knows what it feels like to carry pain alone, so she often becomes the person others run to when they are hurting.

Maybe that is why I find myself feeling for daughters like her. Because beneath the frustration was never a heart that wanted to fight. It was a heart that wanted to be seen. A heart that wanted someone to ask, "What happened to you?" instead of "What’s wrong with you?"

The angry daughter is not always angry. Sometimes she is exhausted. Sometimes she is disappointed. Sometimes she is simply tired. Because her pain does not arrive quietly, people remember the anger and forget the reason behind it.

She was not hard to love; she was hard to misunderstand correctly.

Perhaps the saddest part is that many angry daughters grow up believing there is something wrong with them. They begin to see themselves through the labels given to them.

Difficult.

Dramatic.

Too much.

Too sensitive.

When in reality, they were only reacting to things that hurt them. They were only trying to protect parts of themselves that had been ignored for too long.

And maybe that is what I learned. The angry daughter was never just angry. We are brave enough to refuse what was breaking us. And was strong enough to say, "This hurts," even when nobody wanted to hear it.

Behind every angry daughter is a girl who simply wanted to be understood.

perhaps, to love is to turn around. just like what Orpheus did.

the day I understood Sometimes love is turning around because you need to know they’re still there.

When I first learned the story of Orpheus and Eurydice, I was annoyed with Orpheus. Why did he look back?

He had already crossed the Underworld. He had already convinced the gods to give him another chance. The only thing he had to do was to keep walking. Just a few more steps. Just a little more patience. Yet he turned around and lost Eurydice forever.

For the longest time, I thought his mistake was foolish. Then I thought about it more carefully.

And I realized that if I were in his place, I would probably do the same.

Because if I could no longer hear your footsteps behind me, I would turn around too.

If I could no longer feel your presence beside me, I would look for you too.

If silence suddenly stood between us, I would need to know whether you were still there.

And perhaps that is what love does to people.

It makes them brave enough to walk through the darkness, but it also makes them afraid of walking alone.

The heart does not always ask for proof because it doubts. Sometimes it asks because it cares.

The story of Orpheus and Eurydice has survived for thousands of years. It comes from Greek mythology and tells of a musician whose love for his wife was so deep that he traveled to the Underworld to bring her back. His music moved gods, spirits, and even death itself.

Yet what makes the story unforgettable is not his journey.

It is the moment he turned around. People often remember it as a failure. A warning against impatience. A lesson about trust.

But I think there is another way to see it. Maybe that single glance was not weakness. Maybe it was love.

Because love is not always calm and certain. Love worries. Love wonders. Love reaches out in the dark hoping to find a familiar hand. No matter how strong a person is, there will always be moments when they need reassurance that the person they love is still beside them.

Love is not measured by how long you can walk ahead. It is measured by how much you care about who walks behind you.

We often celebrate grand gestures in stories. We admire the heroes who fight battles, cross oceans, or challenge fate itself. Orpheus did all those things.

But what moves me most is something much smaller.

A glance.

One look.

One moment of needing to see the person he loved.

Because isn’t that what many of us do? Because if the person you love disappeared into the darkness behind you, wouldn’t your first instinct be to search for them too?

When someone matters to us, we check if they got home safely. We reread old messages. We look for them in crowded places. We notice when they become quiet. We search for signs that they are okay.

Not because we are weak.

But because they matter.

Love teaches us that another person’s existence can become a source of comfort. Their voice can calm us. Their presence can make difficult days easier. And when that presence suddenly feels distant, our hearts naturally search for it.

Perhaps the greatest proof of love is that even in the dark, we still look for each other.

Now, whenever I think of Orpheus and Eurydice, I no longer feel annoyed with him.

Instead, I understand him.

I understand the fear of not knowing.

I understand the need to make sure someone is still there.

And I understand that if I ever found myself walking through a darkness where I could no longer hear you, no longer feel you, and no longer know if you were still following me, I would probably turn around too.

Not because I stopped believing.

Not because I lacked patience.

But because some people become so important to us that even a few moments without them feels too long.

And maybe that is what love has always been.

Not the certainty that someone is there.

But the desire to keep looking for them anyway.

And perhaps love has always been like that: walking forward, yet still wanting to know that the person you cherish is walking with you. Even in the dark. Even when you cannot see them. Even when all you have left is faith.

I no longer recognize the breads at the bakery I bought when I was a ago, I was sitting in our living room. I was writing down ideas for an article I wanted to make. I was also doing some research to improve the flow of my essay.

Then, my mom came in carrying four different kinds of bread. She told me she had bought it. I found myself wondering what they were called because they no longer looked familiar to me.

I could no longer remember their names. I could no longer tell what they tasted like. I could not even remember which one used to be my favorite.

Sometimes growing up is realizing that the places that once felt familiar no longer recognize you either.

I think one of the quietest heartbreaks of growing older is noticing how unfamiliar life slowly becomes. Not all at once, but little by little. The things that once felt permanent begin changing without asking for your permission.

The streets feel smaller.

Old songs sounds heavier.

The people you thought would stay forever slowly become memories.

And one day, you walk into a place that once held pieces of your childhood, only to realize you no longer recognize it the same way anymore.

And somehow, that hurts more than expected.

Because it is never really about the bread.

You do not grieve the place itself. You grieve the version of yourself that once existed there.

There was a time when life felt simpler without you even noticing it. Back then, happiness could exist in small things: Walking beside someone you loved. Holding loose coins in your hand. Looking through bakery windows while deciding what felt special enough to buy.

The world did not feel so fast yet. You did not fully understand pressure, heartbreak, responsibility, or the quiet fear that sometimes comes with growing older.

You were just there.

Present.

Young enough to believe familiar things would stay familiar forever.

But years pass quietly. And when you return to those same places, something feels different. Maybe the bakery changed. Maybe the breads are no longer the same. Maybe the workers who once smiled at you are gone now. Or maybe the hardest truth is this: the place stayed almost the same, but you changed too much to experience it the way you once did.

And that realization stays in your chest longer than expected.

I think that is why moments like this feel so emotional. Because suddenly, you are not only remembering childhood. You are realizing how far away it already is. The distance between who you were and who you are now becomes impossible to ignore.

Growing older is learning that familiarity can disappear even when the place still exists.

As a child, you never think about time this deeply. You assume there will always be more afternoons like that. More familiar places. More moments with the people beside you. But growing up teaches you that life changes quietly while you are busy living it.

And one day, you wake up missing things you never thought would disappear.

Not because they completely vanished, but because they no longer feel the same in your hands anymore.

Life becomes heavier.

You start noticing prices more than excitement. Time more than wonder. Silence more than comfort. And maybe that is why certain childhood places suddenly feel emotional — because they remind you of a version of yourself who did not carry this much weight yet.

The saddest part of growing up is not losing places. It is losing the feeling you once had inside them.

It is also about realizing how life quietly moves forward no matter how badly we want to hold certain moments still.

The unfamiliar breads are not the real loss.

The real loss is time.

The real loss is understanding that childhood does not announce when it leaves. One day, it is simply gone, hidden inside old places, old smells, old routines, and memories that suddenly make your chest ache for reasons you cannot fully explain.

And maybe that is why moments like this make people emotional. Because deep inside, everyone carries at least one place they can never return to in the same way again.

Not because the place disappeared.

But because the person they were back then already did.

limiting people’s access to you is a form of self love

Not everyone deserves unlimited access to It is also about knowing when to close the door gently.

Growing up slowly teaches you that self love is not always loud. Sometimes, it is not about confidence, glowing routines, or learning how to enjoy your own company. Sometimes, self love looks quieter than that. It looks like saying “no” without explaining too much. It looks like becoming more careful about who gets close to you. It looks like protecting your energy before you become completely drained by people who only take from you.

There comes a point where you realize that constantly being available to everyone does not make you kind. Sometimes, it only makes you tired. You answer messages even when you feel exhausted. You stay understanding even when people repeatedly cross your boundaries. You keep giving chances because you do not want anyone to feel unloved. But slowly, you notice how much of yourself disappears when you keep allowing people unlimited access to your heart.

And that realization changes you.

Limiting access to you is not building walls; it's choosing who gets a key.

Many people misunderstand boundaries. They think distance means pride. They think protecting yourself means becoming cold. But limiting access to yourself is not automatically cruelty. Sometimes, it is maturity. Sometimes, it is finally learning that your peace should not always be sacrificed just to keep others comfortable.

Because the truth is, not everyone enters your life with good intentions. Some people only come to you when they need comfort, attention, advice, or validation. Some people enjoy your softness but never take responsibility for the way they affect you emotionally. And if you keep giving parts of yourself to everyone without limits, you eventually become emotionally exhausted without realizing it.

That is why boundaries matter.

Not because you hate people, but because you are finally learning how to value yourself too.

You are allowed to protect yourself without feeling guilty for it.

And honestly, limiting people’s access to you does not always mean cutting people off completely. Sometimes, it simply means becoming more selective. You stop telling everyone your personal thoughts. You stop overexplaining yourself to people who misunderstand you on purpose. You stop forcing closeness where respect no longer exists.

You begin to understand that privacy is peace.

There are people who only know how to appreciate you when you are constantly available to them. The moment you become quieter, harder to reach, or more protective of your time, they suddenly call you “different.” But maybe you are not becoming worse. Maybe you are just becoming more aware of what drains you and what heals you.

And there is nothing wrong with that.

Because self love is not just about treating yourself gently during good days. Sometimes, it is about protecting yourself during difficult ones too. It is recognizing that your emotions deserve care, not constant pressure from people who only notice you when it benefits them.

A healthy heart still needs boundaries.

Real self love is not about shutting everyone out. It is about learning who feels safe to let in and who continuously disturbs your peace. It is about understanding that access to you should be earned through respect, consistency, and care—not demanded simply because someone wants it.

Limiting people’s access to you is not about acting superior. It is about realizing that your heart is not a public place where everyone should be allowed to enter freely.

Some people deserve closeness.

Some people only deserve distance.

And learning the difference is one of the quietest forms of self love.

the quiet weight of being strong all the different kind of loneliness that comes from always being the strong one. It is quiet, almost invisible, because from the outside, people think you are holding everything well. You smile normally. You still show up. You still help others, listen to them, comfort them, and carry yourself like nothing is wrong. And because of that, people slowly assume you do not need the same care you freely give to others.

But strength is not the absence of pain.

Sometimes, being “strong” only means you became good at hiding how tired you really are.

At first, being strong can feel comforting. People admire you for it. They trust you because you always seem calm during difficult moments. You become the person others lean on when life becomes heavy. And without realizing it, you slowly build a version of yourself that feels responsible for holding everything together and lighter.

So even when you are overwhelmed, you continue acting okay.

You tell yourself that other people have bigger problems. You convince yourself that resting would disappoint everyone who depends on you. And after repeating this for so long, you begin carrying your emotions quietly instead of expressing them honestly.

That is the quiet weight people rarely talk about.

Because when you are known as “the strong one,” your pain starts feeling inconvenient.

People praise your strength so much that they forget strength can also become exhausting.

And the truth is, many strong people are not strong because they wanted to be. Sometimes, life simply gave them no choice. They learned how to stay calm because nobody comforted them properly before. They learned how to carry pain privately because opening up once made them feel misunderstood, ignored, or like a burden.

So eventually, they stop asking for help altogether.

Not because they never need it, but because they became too used to surviving on their own.

That is why this kind of exhaustion feels so quiet. You can be surrounded by people and still feel emotionally alone. Everyone admires how composed you are, while nobody notices how badly you also want someone to ask, “Are you really okay?” without expecting the usual strong answer.

And honestly, strength can become dangerous when you no longer allow yourself to feel you.

Because you are not meant to carry everything alone all the time.

Being dependable should not mean you must suffer silently.

Being strong is not a bad thing. Strength saves people. It helps you survive difficult seasons of life. It helps you protect yourself and the people you care about. The problem only begins when strength turns into emotional pressure, when you feel guilty for resting, crying, needing comfort, or admitting that you are tired too.

That is where the weight becomes heavy.

Because people often celebrate resilience without asking what it cost someone to become that resilient in the first place.

Even the strongest hearts need softness. Even the most composed people need space where they do not have to pretend everything is under control.

Real strength is also knowing when you no longer have to carry everything by yourself.

Being strong all the time is not what makes you worthy. You are still deserving of care even on the days you cannot hold everything together perfectly.

Because sometimes, the bravest thing a strong person can do is to admit that they are tired too.

how it feels being haunted by your past dreams?

I am crowded by my behind.

It doesn’t come all at once. It visits quietly—on random days, in small moments, in the middle of doing something ordinary. Then suddenly, a memory of who I used to be appears. The version of me who dreamed without hesitation. The version of me who believed everything was still possible.

And I don't know what to do when I see her again.

Being haunted by past dreams isn’t always loud. It doesn’t always feel like regret. Sometimes, it feels like a soft question that never gets answered. Like wondering how life would look if I kept going. If I didn’t stop. If I didn’t change.

There are moments when I feel proud of how far I’ve come. But there are also moments when I can’t ignore the distance between who I am now and who I once wanted to be. And that distance… it lingers.

I didn’t forget my dreams, I just slowly became someone who no longer reached for them.

It’s strange, because those dreams don’t hate me. They don’t blame me. They just exist, quietly, patiently, like they’re still waiting. And somehow, that makes it harder. Because a part of me knows they could have been real. A part of me knows I once had the courage to try.

But life happened. Things changed. I changed.

Still, every now and then, I feel it. That gentle pull. That whisper of “what if.” Not to hurt me, but to remind me of a version of myself that was once so sure, so hopeful, so alive with possibilities.

My past dreams don’t chase me to punish me, they follow me to remind me who I used to be.

Maybe being haunted by them isn’t something to fear. Maybe it’s something to understand. Because even if I didn’t become everything I once imagined, those dreams are still a part of me. They shaped the way I see the world. They taught me how to hope, even if I don’t hold onto them the same way anymore.

And maybe, just maybe, it’s not too late to meet them again—not as the same person I was before, but as someone new. Someone who still remembers how to try, even if it feels different this time.

Some dreams don’t disappear, they just wait for me to find my way back to them.

“to change for others is to lie to yourself”

Changing to be loved is painful when I no longer recognize the It starts small, adjusting the way you speak, softening opinions, agreeing when you don’t fully mean it. You tell yourself it’s harmless, that it keeps things smooth, that it makes people stay. And maybe it does. But slowly, you begin to feel a distance between who you are and who you show.

To be accepted at the cost of yourself is a quiet loss.

You shape yourself around what others expect. You become easier, more agreeable, less complicated. You hold back parts of you that feel too much or too different. And for a while, it works. People like you. Things feel lighter. But deep down, there’s something unsettled because you know they’re not really meeting you, just the version you made for them.

There are moments when it catches up to you. When you want to speak honestly but hesitate. When you want to act freely but stop yourself. When you feel misunderstood, even when people think they know you. And it’s not their fault, not completely. You were the one who hid the truth in the first place.

Honesty with yourself is where real peace begins.

So you start to notice it. The times you shrink. The times you adjust too much. The times you choose comfort over truth. And little by little, you try something different. You say what you actually think, even if your voice feels unsure. You show up as you are, even if it risks being misunderstood.

Not everyone will stay. Not everyone will understand. But the ones who do the ones who choose you without needing you to change—will feel different. Easier. Real.

You don’t have to become someone else to be worthy of connection.

You don’t have to edit yourself to be accepted. Because the more you stay true to who you are, the less you lose yourself trying to be what you’re not.

And maybe that’s the kind of honesty that finally lets you breathe.

a shore is safe, but ocean is where life begins.

safety lives where the waves don’t reach, You already know how it feels there. The ground is steady, the waves only reach your feet, and nothing ever asks too much from you. It’s the place where you don’t have to prove anything. You can stay, watch, and convince yourself that this is enough.

But deep inside, you feel it, that quiet pull.

Not loud. Not demanding. Just a small voice asking what else is out there.

You see others leave. You see them try, fail, laugh, and change. And while you stand where it’s safe, you start to wonder what it would feel like to move too. Not because you’re lacking, but because something in you was made to experience more than just “okay.”

Because the truth is, safety can sometimes feel like stillness. And stillness, when it stays too long, begins to feel like something is missing.

Growth doesn’t happen where you feel certain. It happens where you choose to try anyway.

You don’t leave the shore because it’s bad. You leave because you’re ready. Ready to feel things you can’t predict. Ready to learn things you can’t be taught by staying still. Ready to meet a version of yourself you haven’t seen yet.

And yes, it’s uncertain. You won’t always feel strong. You won’t always know what you’re doing. But that’s where something real begins—not perfect, not easy, but alive.

You don’t find who you are by staying where it’s safe, you find it the moment you choose to step into something unknown.

There will be moments when you’ll want to go back. When you’ll miss how simple everything felt before. And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean you made the wrong choice. It just means you’re human, adjusting to something new.

Because life was never meant to be fully understood before you live it. It’s something you step into, slowly, even when your hands shake a little.

The moment you step away from what’s safe is the moment you start discovering who you are.

And maybe that’s what this really means.

You’re allowed to stay for a while. You’re allowed to rest. But you’re also allowed to want more—to feel more, to become more, to see more of what life can offer you.

The shore will always be there.

But life begins the moment you decide when people open up because they want to be understood. And there are times when they speak just so they won’t feel alone. If you listen closely, you’ll feel it—the quiet weight behind their words, the pauses that say more than their sentences ever could.

Sometimes, you think the right thing to do is to explain. To point out what went wrong, what could’ve been done better, what should happen next. You line up your thoughts like they’re going to fix something. Like words, when arranged properly, can reach a person who’s already shutting down.

Sometimes, the kindest thing you can offer isn’t an answer—it’s presence.

You don’t always need to solve people. You don’t always need to be right. Sometimes, being there quietly does more than saying the perfect sentence. Sometimes, presence speaks in a way words never can.

After a while, you begin to notice the difference.

You start to hold back the urge to respond right away. Not because you don’t care, but because you do. Because you’re learning that care isn’t always quick. It doesn’t rush to fill the silence. It stays long enough to understand it.

You realize that comfort doesn’t always need to be big or obvious. It can be as simple as sitting beside someone without asking too many questions. Not everything needs to be turned into a lesson. Not every moment needs to end with a realization. Some moments are meant to be felt fully, without interruption.

You learn that warmth isn’t found in having the right words—it’s found in being someone they don’t have to explain themselves to.

Sometimes, staying gently is already a form of love.

And slowly, you become that kind of person.

The one who doesn’t rush. The one who doesn’t pressure. The one who understands that sometimes, love is quiet.

Because sometimes, the best thing you can do…is simply stay.

Because in the end, people don’t always remember what you told them.

They remember how you made them feel.

If you never heal from what hurt you, you’ll bleed on people who didn’t cut You tell yourself you’re okay, that you’ve already moved on, that what happened before no longer holds weight. But then someone comes into your life, soft, patient, careful and suddenly, the way you react doesn’t match who they are.

You pull away when they get close. You doubt them when they’re sincere. You brace yourself even when there’s no reason to. And you start to wonder why something good feels so hard to receive.

You don’t realize you’re still hurting until someone touches you gently and it feels unfamiliar.

You carry things you never really faced. Not loudly, not in obvious ways but in small habits, in quiet reactions. The way you overthink simple words. The way you expect people to leave even when they haven’t given you a reason to. The way you protect yourself, even when no one is trying to hurt you. It’s not that you want to hurt others. It’s just that the pain you kept learned how to move through you.

You begin to see it in moments you wish you could take back. In the tone you didn’t mean to use. In the distance you created without meaning to. And the hardest part is realizing that the people in front of you aren’t the ones who caused it but they’re the ones feeling it now.

Healing isn’t about forgetting. It’s about choosing not to pass the pain forward.

There comes a point where you start to pause. Where you notice your reactions before they fully happen. Where you ask yourself, “Is this really about them?” And sometimes, the answer is no. Sometimes, it’s something older, something deeper, something you never gave yourself the time to understand.

And maybe that’s where healing begins, not in big, perfect moments, but in quiet awareness. In choosing to respond differently. In choosing to be softer, even when it’s unfamiliar. In choosing not to let your past decide how you treat people who are trying to care for you.

Not everyone you meet deserves the weight of what you’ve been through.

You don’t have to rush it. You don’t have to fix everything all at once. But you owe it to yourself and to the people who come into your life, to try. To face what hurt you, not so you can erase it, but so it doesn’t keep showing up where it no longer belongs.

Because the truth is, you deserve a love that isn’t shaped by fear. And so do they.

"do you still perform autopsies on conversations you’ve had lives ago?”

you perform autopsies, done to understand what caused an end. Not to bring life back, but to study what went wrong, what failed, what could have been different. In the same way, you take apart old conversations piece by piece.

You examine the tone, the pauses, the words that felt too heavy or too quiet. You look for signs you may have missed before. But just like in medicine, the truth stays the same—no matter how carefully you study it, it won’t change what already happened.

You don’t call it overthinking. You call it remembering. But deep down, you know it feels more like going back to something that already stopped breathing. You revisit old conversations the way hands move carefully over fragile things—slow, almost afraid.

You read the words again, pause at certain lines, and wonder where it all shifted. You don’t always look for answers. Sometimes, you just want to feel it one more time, even if it no longer feels the same.

You don’t miss the moment, you miss how it made you feel.

You find yourself staying longer than you should. You replay messages like they still hold something new, like maybe this time, they’ll say something different. But they don’t. They stay exactly as they are—unchanged, still, and distant.

And somehow, that silence says more than the words ever did. You begin to realize that what you’re holding onto isn’t the conversation itself, but the version of you that existed within it.

In medicine, there’s a quiet respect when something is already gone. There’s no rushing, no forcing. Just acceptance that some things have reached their end. Maybe that’s what you’re learning too—not everything needs to be reopened just to understand it. Some things are meant to stay closed, not because they don’t matter, but because they already did.

Not every silence needs an answer. Some just need to be left alone.

You slowly start to step back. Not all at once, not in a dramatic way. Just small choices—choosing not to reread, choosing not to reopen, choosing to let the past stay where it belongs. It doesn’t mean it didn’t mean anything. It just means you’re allowing it to rest.

And maybe that’s the hardest part. Not finding the reason, not solving the mystery—but accepting that there isn’t anything left to examine.

You don’t need to understand everything to finally let it go.

sometimes, we got the ending we needed not what we expected.

and, that's are moments in life when things don’t turn out the way you imagined. You build a picture in your mind—how it should go, how it should end, how everything should fall into place. You hold onto that picture because it feels right, because it makes you feel safe. But then, something shifts. The story changes direction, and suddenly, you’re standing at an ending you never planned for.

At first, it feels wrong.

You question it. You replay everything. You wonder where it went differently, where you could have held on tighter or tried harder. Because when something doesn’t match your expectations, it can feel like you lost something important. Like you missed the “right” ending.

But not every unexpected ending is a mistake.

Some endings don’t come to give you what you want. They come to give you what you need.

Not every ending is meant to feel good, but some are meant to make space for better things.

There are endings that protect you in ways you don’t see yet. Endings that stop you from staying in places where you would have slowly lost yourself. Endings that guide you away from situations that felt familiar, but were never meant to last.

And even if it hurts, even if it feels confusing, that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.

You are allowed to grieve the ending you expected. You are allowed to miss what you hoped for. But at the same time, you can learn to accept what actually came. Because sometimes, the life you need doesn’t arrive in the form you were waiting for.

Just because it didn’t happen the way you wanted doesn’t mean it didn’t happen the way it should.

There’s a kind of quiet peace that comes when you stop fighting the ending. Not because you suddenly understand everything, but because you begin to trust that not everything is meant to be controlled.

An unexpected ending is not the end of your story—it’s just a different beginning you didn’t see coming.

So if you’re standing in an ending that feels unfamiliar, unfinished, or not what you hoped for—know this:

It is okay.

It is okay that it didn’t go as planned.

It is okay that it feels different.

It is okay that you don’t understand it yet.

Because sometimes, the ending you needed doesn’t come with clarity right away. but it’s there—quiet, sitting at the back of your mind. The feeling that you’re only passing through people’s lives. That no matter how real the moments feel, a part of you is already preparing to leave… or be left.

You notice it in small things. How you hesitate to get too comfortable. How you don’t fully unpack your heart, like you’re ready to leave at any time. You laugh with them, you stay, you care—but there’s always that thought: this won’t last forever. So you try not to hold on too tightly.

Even if you expect the end, you still hope for a different story.

You’ve gotten used to being the one who comes and goes. The one who listens, who understands, who becomes part of someone’s life for a while… then slowly fades into a memory. Not because you did something wrong. Not because they didn’t matter. It just happens. And somehow, you’ve learned to accept it.

But acceptance doesn’t mean it never hurts.

Because even if you’ve made peace with being temporary, there’s still a quiet wish you don’t talk about. A small hope you keep hidden. The kind that shows up when things feel a little too good.

You get used to being part of people’s chapters, but never their whole story.

You wish that just once, you wouldn’t feel like a visitor. That you wouldn’t have to second-guess your place. That someone would choose you in a way that stays—without you wondering when it will change.

And maybe that’s the hardest part. Not the leaving, not the distance… but the feeling that you were never meant to stay in the first place.

One day, you won’t feel like a passing moment—you’ll feel like where someone chooses to stay.

Still, you continue. You show up. You care. You let people in, even when a part of you is careful. Because even if you feel temporary, what you give is real. The time, the laughter, the comfort—you were there. And that matters, even if it doesn’t last.

And maybe, one day, something will feel different. Not rushed. Not uncertain. Just steady. The kind that doesn’t make you feel like you’re waiting for it to end.

You don’t have to rush into staying, but maybe… you don’t have to rush into leaving either.

Until then, you keep going. Quietly hoping that someday, you won’t just be a visitor in someone else’s life… but a place they call home.

And for now, that’s enough.

You don’t have to be certain yet. You don’t have to know how long things will last. You can just be here. You can just stay—without already saying goodbye in your mind.

“how do you grieve for a love that did not even I won’t tell you how your voice sounds in my heart, because I don’t want it to fade.

“blue and yellow are not meant to be together.”

When many say that blue and yellow are not meant to be together, I suddenly think of Belle and the Beast, who had a happy ending despite her wearing yellow and him wearing blue.

“no fairytale ending” said in the song.

I remembered that blue is your favorite, and yellow is mine.

they’re just our favorite colors, right? nothing would be lost just because we like those colors. but then I remembered…

there’s nothing to worry about because you weren’t mine in the beginning.

I still wonder which word, and which moment could have simply changed everything.

It wasn’t love that broke me—it was the thought that it almost was.

In you, I learned that I don’t have to change myself to fit what others want me to be. I don’t have to sacrifice parts of myself just to please them. I don’t have to be strong or fearless all the time.

You never made me feel like I was too much or not enough. In such a short time, you became the possibility I wanted to turn into reality.

I miss you as much as I miss the version of us that never got the chance to exist.

“is there were lifetime waiting for us?”

We almost chose each other, and sometimes, “almost” is what lingers the longest. I still want to see you happy. I may not have witnessed every version of you, and I may not have had the chance to be with you, but I know I was loved by you, even if only for a short time, even if we never turned that “almost” into reality.

Maybe in another lifetime, you’ll be mine, and I’ll be yours.

we’re lovers only during the close friend of mine messaged me. I asked her why, and she asked if she could share what she’s been feeling lately. Of course, I told her she could tell me anything.

She told me that she doesn’t understand why a relationship feels okay and happy only during the good times. But when things start to get confusing, it feels like everything goes off track. It starts to hurt.

It made me think. Why is it like that? Why is it that we only seem to know each other when we’re happy?

It’s easy to recognize love when everything is soft and light, but maybe the real question is—do we still recognize each other when things begin to fall apart?

We were a season that only knew how to bloom under kind weather. Soft laughter like a sunlight, fingers intertwined when the world was gentle, as if love was something that only existed when it was easy.

But the moment the sky learned how to break, so did we.

How unbearable it is. To realize that we only love each other when it feels easy and become strangers who isn't afraid to hurt each other on the hard times.

You loved me best when I was easy to understand, when my silence wasn’t heavy and my heart wasn’t asking to be held with both hands. You treated me like a promise during calm days, but spoke to me like a stranger when things grew sharp.

And the moment I became a storm, you stood at the edge of me like I was something to survive, not something to stay for.

We were okay as long as nothing was wrong. You were easy to love when you were happy, and I was easy to keep when I wasn’t asking for too much, when I wasn’t asking for your hands.

But when things got uncomfortable, we both changed. You became distant, and I became someone who kept asking if we were still okay.

I think we both tried in our own ways, but not at the same time. And that’s where it slowly fell apart.

It wasn’t love that failed us, it was the absence of it when things got hard.

We memorized the laughter of each other, but avoided tears like they were foreign.

And in the end, it wasn’t the fights that ended us—it was the silence after, the distance, the quiet decision to not reach out when it mattered most.

We became strangers who only recognized each other when it was convenient, forgetting that real love is not just how you hold someone when they are light, but how you refuse to drop them when they are heavy.

We called it love, but love should not disappear the moment it is asked to prove itself.

But love is not just found in stillness. It lives in the trembling too. And when the trembling came, we let go like we were never meant to hold on in the first place. As if the weight of each other was proof that something was wrong, instead of proof that something was real.

You thought it would pass, and I thought you would notice. But we kept waiting in different ways, until there was nothing left to wait for.

We were both there, but not in the same way.

And somewhere in between, we lost the balance of loving each other the way we needed.
