Pete Crow-Armstrong’s dominant 2026 campaign with the Chicago Cubs has driven overwhelming trader consensus in the WAR leader market. Through mid-September, the 24-year-old center fielder leads MLB with roughly 9–10 fWAR, fueled by a .279/.373/.566 slash line, 41 home runs, 36 stolen bases, elite center-field defense, and baserunning value that outpaces the field by multiple wins. His second-half power surge and historical pace toward a 10-win season—last achieved in the NL by Barry Bonds—have widened the gap over pitchers such as Cristopher Sánchez and Dylan Cease, as well as position players including Shohei Ohtani. Late-season injury, prolonged slump, or an unforeseen surge from another contender remain the primary realistic paths to altering the outcome.
