Recent polling shows the Parti Québécois leading but with the Coalition Avenir Québec surging into a statistical tie for first place in the October 5 contest, while the Parti libéral du Québec has lost ground among francophone voters. This volatility, driven by Christine Fréchette’s stronger personal ratings and voter focus on economic stability amid U.S. trade tensions, has kept the race for second place tight between the PLQ’s Montreal base and the CAQ’s broader regional support. Seat projections remain fragmented due to the first-past-the-post system and multi-party competition, leaving traders pricing the Liberals and CAQ as the leading contenders for runner-up status with limited separation. Further campaign events, additional polls, and regional turnout patterns could widen or reverse the current gap before election day.
