Incumbent Celeste Maloy secured the Republican nomination for Utah’s 3rd Congressional District after defeating primary challenger Phil Lyman by roughly two-to-one in June 2026. The newly drawn district covers southern and eastern Utah and carries a substantial Republican partisan advantage, rated Solid Republican by multiple forecasters. Maloy’s campaign outraised opponents significantly and benefited from establishment support, while Democrat Kent Udell ran unopposed in his primary. These factors, combined with the district’s voting history and limited Democratic infrastructure, have produced trader consensus around a wide margin for the Republican nominee ahead of the November 3 general election. Late developments such as a major scandal or unexpected national political shift remain the primary variables that could narrow the gap.
