Jake Ferguson enters the 2026 season as Dallas’s clear starting tight end and primary red-zone option behind wide receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens, but he faces a crowded target hierarchy that caps his yardage ceiling. After posting career highs of 82 receptions and eight touchdowns for 600 yards in 2025, his per-catch average has trended downward to 7.3 yards, reflecting a short-area role. Week 1 produced just two catches for six yards in an inefficient Cowboys offense, highlighting how passing volume and efficiency will dictate his season total. Health remains stable with no active injury concerns, and upcoming matchups against Washington and beyond will test whether he sustains consistent targets amid the competition.
