Jonathan Taylor enters the 2026 NFL season as the Indianapolis Colts' clear workhorse back following a two-year, $44 million extension that secures him through 2028. He led the league with 18 rushing touchdowns and 323 carries in 2025 while posting 1,585 yards, though efficiency dipped late after quarterback Daniel Jones suffered a season-ending injury. The Colts have limited depth behind him, with DJ Giddens and rookie Seth McGowan unlikely to significantly reduce his touches, and recent reports confirm he will again handle a heavy load in a run-heavy offense. Key variables include Jones' health to sustain drives and create favorable red-zone situations, the offensive line's stability, and Taylor's ability to maintain production after back-to-back high-volume campaigns at age 27.
