Cristopher Sánchez and Sonny Gray both sit atop the 2026 wins leaderboard with 17 victories apiece as of mid-September, creating a tight cluster that includes several pitchers at 14–15 wins such as Chase Burns, Eduardo Rodriguez, Braxton Ashcraft, and others. Sánchez’s strong recent form for the Phillies, including a 2.79 ERA over 187 innings and consistent quality starts, keeps him in the lead group, while Gray’s durability for the Red Sox and favorable remaining schedule bolster his position. With roughly three weeks left and multiple contenders from playoff-bound clubs like Tampa Bay, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia still lined up for starts, small differences in team run support, bullpen reliability, and rotation depth continue to compress probabilities across the field. Trader consensus reflects this even distribution of outcomes in a race that remains highly sensitive to late-season results.
