This market will resolve to “Yes” if any bill, measure, or resolution that requires proof of U.S. citizenship as a condition for registering to vote or to vote in U.S. federal elections is passed by both chambers of the U.S. Congress and signed into law, or is otherwise enacted into U.S. federal law, by the specified date, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No". Examples of qualifying legislation include H.R. 22, the “SAVE Act,” and H.R. 7296, the “SAVE America Act.” The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of the United States; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Republican control of Congress has not translated into Senate passage of the SAVE America Act, which cleared the House multiple times in 2026 on party-line votes but repeatedly fell short of the 60-vote threshold needed to overcome a filibuster. Senate Majority Leader John Thune has stated insufficient support exists, citing opposition from several Republicans alongside unified Democratic resistance. President Trump has intensified pressure through public calls, attempts to attach the measure to must-pass legislation such as the NDAA and appropriations bills, and refusal to sign unrelated measures, yet these efforts have not produced a breakthrough. The Senate’s August recess delayed further action, with any renewed push likely when members return in September ahead of the November midterms. Procedural options like reconciliation remain under discussion but face internal GOP and parliamentary hurdles.
