Nigeria enters AFCON 2027 qualifying Group L as the clear frontrunner to top the standings, with its superior FIFA ranking, deeper squad talent, and recent third-place finish at the 2025 tournament providing the foundation for trader consensus around a 62.5% implied probability. The draw in May 2026 placed the Super Eagles alongside Madagascar, Tanzania, and Guinea-Bissau, creating a mismatch in experience and resources that favors Nigeria across the three match windows beginning in September 2026. Tanzania’s automatic qualification as a co-host reduces the stakes of its results for its own advancement but does not alter its lower standing relative to Nigeria in head-to-head or form metrics. The remaining sides lack comparable recent international success or depth, keeping their probabilities for finishing first notably lower. No group-stage matches have occurred yet, so current pricing reflects pre-competition assessments of squad strength and historical performance rather than live results.
