**Aliyu Wadada Ahmed (APC) leads the Nasarawa 2027 gubernatorial market at 67.5% amid strong incumbent backing and recent party consolidation.** Governor Abdullahi Sule publicly endorsed the Nasarawa West senator as his preferred successor after extended stakeholder consultations, framing him as the candidate best positioned to maintain continuity. Wadada secured the APC nomination in the May 2026 primary with a large margin over rivals, including former Inspector-General Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, and received additional national-level support such as from Vice President Kashim Shettima. INEC’s late August 2026 publication of cleared candidates confirmed Wadada as the APC standard-bearer alongside opposition nominees including Emmanuel David Ombugadu (PDP), Jonathan Gaza Gbefwi (Labour Party), and others. Adamu’s subsequent shift to the SDP has created procedural questions around that party’s listing but has not altered the APC’s frontrunner status. Opposition candidates trail significantly, reflecting limited momentum relative to the ruling party’s organizational advantages and the governor’s explicit succession alignment. The next major catalysts remain primary resolutions, candidate substitutions, and any late shifts in coalition alignments ahead of the 2027 poll.

This market will resolve according to the listed candidate who wins the 2027 Nasarawa State gubernatorial election. Any interim, acting, or caretaker Governor will not qualify.
If the results are not known definitively by October 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "Other".
To be elected Governor, a candidate must satisfy the requirements under Nigerian law, including receiving the highest number of votes cast and the constitutionally required geographic distribution of votes. If no candidate wins the election outright, this market will remain open to account for any further election or runoff, provided this occurs before the resolution deadline. If no candidate has been officially elected by the resolution deadline, this market will resolve to "Other".
This market will resolve based on the results of this election, as indicated by a consensus of credible reporting. If there is ambiguity, this market will resolve solely based on official results published by Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Nigerian government sources.
