DeVonta Smith enters the 2026 season as the Philadelphia Eagles’ undisputed WR1 following the June trade of A.J. Brown to the Patriots. In 2025 he posted 77 receptions on 113 targets while sharing the room; analysts and team insiders now project a meaningful increase in targets under new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion’s scheme. Smith’s efficiency—career 9.1 yards per target—positions him to convert added volume into higher reception totals, though he faces competition from rookie Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, and veterans Marquise Brown and Elijah Moore. A training-camp hamstring issue resolved by late August, allowing full participation ahead of Week 1. The combination of expanded opportunity, a rebuilt passing attack, and Jalen Hurts’ established trust in Smith forms the core drivers of market expectations for his regular-season reception count.
