This market will resolve to “Yes” if IMF PortWatch publishes a 7-day moving average of transit calls (“Arrivals of Ships”) for the Bab el-Mandeb Strait less than or equal to 10 for any date between market creation and the listed date. Revisions to previously published data points made before data has been published for the listed date will be considered; however, they will not disqualify a previously published data point from qualifying. Revisions made after data has been published for the listed date will not be considered. These moves follow the group's July declaration of a blockade targeting Saudi-linked vessels, which prompted some tanker diversions, insurance adjustments, and a drop in daily transits to roughly 20-40 vessels amid broader regional tensions involving Iran. Shipping data through early September shows the route remains open but operationally hazardous, with container traffic largely rerouted around the Cape of Good Hope and only selective tanker and bulk movements continuing. Trader consensus on Polymarket reflects this partial disruption without reaching the threshold for effective closure under IMF PortWatch metrics, while noting risks from further Yemen fighting or escalation that could alter volumes before year-end resolution dates.
