Shohei Ohtani holds the lowest ERA among qualified starters at 1.79 through early September, narrowly ahead of Ben Brown, while Jacob Misiorowski leads in innings and overall P-Score with a 1.97 mark and elite strikeout rate. The wide-open market reflects a fragmented race where no pitcher combines dominant rate stats with sufficient workload to lock in the title, as remaining starts, injury risks, and qualification thresholds can still shift standings dramatically. Contenders like Dylan Cease, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Cristopher Sánchez benefit from strong recent form and favorable matchups, but late-season volatility in bullpen support, home/road splits, and workload management keeps implied probabilities low across the board. Trader consensus prices the outcome as highly uncertain given the compressed September schedule.
