Drake Maye enters the 2026 regular season with a high baseline after throwing 31 passing touchdowns in 2025 while completing 72 percent of his passes and leading the Patriots to the Super Bowl. Offseason additions including A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs plus offensive line upgrades were expected to sustain or boost red-zone volume under the same play-caller, yet Week 1 produced only one touchdown against three interceptions in a 13-10 loss to Seattle, with Brown suffering a high-ankle sprain that will sideline him for multiple games. A tougher schedule, increased pre-snap responsibility at the line, and Maye’s dual-threat rushing production create competing pressures on passing touchdown totals, with early results highlighting decision-making risks that could cap efficiency.
