George Kittle enters the 2026 NFL season recovering from a right Achilles tear suffered in the January wild-card playoff game, completing an accelerated eight-month rehabilitation that has cleared him for the Week 1 matchup against the Rams in Australia. Limited in practice throughout the week but off the injury report, the 32-year-old tight end is expected to see a managed snap count early as the 49ers monitor his workload alongside returning teammates like Nick Bosa. Last season he posted seven receiving touchdowns in 11 games despite the abbreviated schedule, and the San Francisco offense features established targets around Brock Purdy that could sustain red-zone opportunities for the veteran if he maintains health and avoids setbacks over the full regular season.
