Parliamentary elections to elect the Abgeordnetehaus of Berlin are scheduled to take place in Berlin on September 20, 2026. This market will resolve to the next individual who officially assumes the office of Regierender Bürgermeister (Governing Mayor) of Berlin following the specified elections. To count for resolution, the individual must be officially sworn in. Any interim or caretaker Governing Mayor will not count toward the resolution of this market. If no such Governing Mayor takes office by May 31, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to “Other”. The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Elif Eralp, the Left Party's lead candidate, holds the strongest position in the market for Berlin's next governing mayor ahead of the September 20, 2026, Abgeordnetenhaus election. Recent polling shows her party ahead at 20-22 percent, ahead of the CDU under Stefan Evers and the AfD under Kristin Brinker, after incumbent Kai Wegner withdrew amid criticism of his crisis management. Eralp's platform emphasizing affordable housing, rent controls, and implementation of prior referendum outcomes on expropriations has driven her party's gains. Coalition scenarios favor a left-leaning alliance with the Greens and SPD that could secure her election by parliament, while Evers and other listed candidates face narrower paths given current seat projections and coalition arithmetic. Traders appear to price in these dynamics through the elevated odds for Eralp.
