This market will resolve to “Yes” if a snap election is called in Denmark between market creation and December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to “No.” The calling of a snap election requires the formal dissolution of the Folketing, or another formal scheduling, according to the rules of the jurisdiction, of an election for all members of the Folketing prior to their scheduled election at the end of the parliamentary term. An announcement of an intention to call an election, a failed vote of no confidence, or the collapse of the governing coalition will not by itself qualify toward a “Yes” resolution. The resolution source for this market will be official information from the government of Denmark and the Folketing; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.Denmark’s Folketing held a general election on 24 March 2026 after Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen called a snap vote in late February, driven in part by tensions over Greenland. A four-party centre-left minority coalition (Social Democrats, Socialist People’s Party, Moderates and Social Liberals) was formally installed on 3 June 2026 following extended negotiations, securing 82 of 179 seats and external support from additional parties. With the government only three-and-a-half months old and the next scheduled election not required until October 2030, no procedural deadlines or acute political crises currently compel an early dissolution. Recent diplomatic progress on Greenland security arrangements has further eased one external pressure point, while domestic polling shows fragmented opposition without immediate momentum for forcing a new contest before year-end. These conditions underpin trader consensus that another snap election remains unlikely by 31 December 2026.
