Pete Crow-Armstrong’s dominant 2026 campaign with the Cubs has driven overwhelming trader consensus for the MLB WAR title. Through 146 games he leads position players with roughly 9 WAR across major models, fueled by a .281/.375/.574 slash line, 41 home runs, 36 stolen bases, elite center-field defense, and a 158 wRC+. His combination of power, speed, plate discipline, and Gold Glove-caliber play has produced the first consecutive 30-30 seasons in franchise history while pushing toward the first 10-fWAR mark by an NL player since Barry Bonds in 2004. With roughly three weeks remaining, only a late injury or an unprecedented surge by another player could realistically alter the outcome.
