Colston Loveland enters the 2026 NFL season as the Chicago Bears' lead tight end after a rookie year of 58 receptions, 713 yards, and six touchdowns, with production surging late including heavy targets in the final stretch and playoffs under offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. The 2025 second-round pick now shares the field with wideouts Rome Odunze and Luther Burden plus veteran Cole Kmet, while quarterback Caleb Williams operates in a run-first scheme with vacated targets from prior departures. Week 1 against Carolina produced zero catches on two targets in a high-scoring win, with looks instead going to other options including Kmet's touchdown. Loveland remains healthy after a prior hip issue and postseason concussion, with reports noting an expanded route tree and preseason emphasis on his mismatch potential in the passing game. The Bears' upcoming schedule and red-zone distribution will shape his volume.
