Roger Gronerth Pinedo of Somos Perú holds the clearest edge in the Maynas mayoral race ahead of the October 4, 2026, municipal vote, supported by the party’s recent control of the provincial mayoralty and his own prior local candidacy that built name recognition across Iquitos districts. A crowded field of more than two dozen registered contenders fragments opposition support, with Alianza para el Progreso’s Joel Parimango Álvarez and several lower-polling independents and party lists trailing significantly. Campaign activity centers on municipal management, social assistance programs, and resource efficiency, while the absence of immediate re-election for the current mayor creates an open contest. No major late-breaking scandals or endorsements have shifted positioning in the final weeks, leaving trader consensus anchored on Gronerth’s organizational advantage amid the dispersed field.
