Luis Arraez holds the top spot in the MLB batting average race at .316 through early September, ahead of Yordan Alvarez at .314, with Otto Lopez, Yandy Díaz, and Freddie Freeman clustered near .301-.305. Arraez's edge stems from his trademark elite contact rate and minimal strikeouts, sustaining a narrow lead into the final month despite a midseason team change to the Phillies. Alvarez has posted a higher OPS and power output but trails slightly in average amid a late-season sample showing modest regression. The market's 52.5% implied probability on Arraez versus 28.5% on Alvarez reflects trader consensus on these established trends and qualification thresholds, with lower-priced names facing steeper qualification or consistency hurdles in the remaining schedule.
