DeVonta Smith enters the 2026-27 NFL season as the Philadelphia Eagles’ clear No. 1 wide receiver following the June trade of A.J. Brown to the Patriots, positioning him for a larger target share in Sean Mannion’s new Shanahan/McVay-influenced offense. Smith posted 1,008 receiving yards on 77 catches in 2025 despite sharing targets, and projections now center around 1,000–1,050 yards with added opportunities outside and in the slot. A minor hamstring issue limited his early training camp participation, though he has returned to practice ahead of Week 1 against Washington. Rookie first-rounder Makai Lemon adds some competition for targets, but Smith’s established chemistry with Jalen Hurts and proven efficiency out wide support expectations for career-high volume in a 17-game schedule.
