California's 6th congressional district, redrawn under Proposition 50, now leans Democratic with voter registration and past election patterns favoring that party. Following the June 2026 top-two primary, Democrat Richard Pan advanced alongside No Party Preference incumbent Kevin Kiley, who previously represented a more competitive area as a Republican before switching affiliation. Race ratings from outlets including the Cook Political Report and Decision Desk HQ classify the seat as solid or safe Democratic. A recent poll showed Pan holding a narrow lead, and with limited time remaining before the November general election, few developments appear positioned to overcome the district's structural tilt and consolidate opposition support behind Kiley.
