Strong investor opposition and market-structure concerns have anchored trader consensus against full removal of the SEC’s quarterly reporting mandate, reflected in the 79% implied probability for “No.” The May 2026 proposal to introduce optional semiannual reporting via new Form 10-S drew more than 68,000 largely critical comments, with the Investor Advisory Committee recommending retention of quarterly filings to preserve timely disclosures. Although SEC leadership under Chairman Atkins has signaled intent to proceed, the optional framework, potential final adoption no earlier than 2027, and unchanged incentives for voluntary quarterly earnings releases limit the scope of any change. Recent commentary from September 2026 underscores historical precedent for reverting to quarterly cadence when transparency costs rose, reinforcing skepticism that mandatory quarterly obligations will be eliminated outright.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission votes to approve a rule or otherwise formally enacts a policy that removes the requirement for publicly traded companies to file quarterly earnings reports by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
Narrow company or industry specific removals of quarterly earnings requirements will not qualify. Likewise a general removal of the rules which maintains the quarterly reporting requirement for specific companies will qualify.
Any approving vote on a rule change that reduces the requirement to report earnings from quarterly to a less frequent cadence will qualify.
The primary resolution source will be official information from the SEC; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
