**Heavy hyperscaler capital expenditures exceeding $1 trillion combined for 2025–2026, coupled with Bank for International Settlements warnings of dot-com-like risks from unproven returns, electricity bottlenecks, and debt-fueled infrastructure, have anchored trader caution on an AI bubble burst.** June–July 2026 sell-offs hit semiconductor names hard amid questions over ROI and leverage, while Chinese models like Moonshot’s Kimi K3 gained share with lower pricing and rapid capability gains. Recent frontier releases—OpenAI’s GPT-6 Astra, Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5.1/Mythos 5.1, Google Gemini 3.8 Flash, and Meta’s Muse Spark 1.3—demonstrate continued LLM progress on benchmarks and agentic tasks, yet also fuel “model fatigue” among enterprises. Next catalysts include further capex guidance in earnings and any regulatory tightening on exports or safety reviews that could slow deployment.
