Traders are pricing the September 2026 CPI month-over-month reading as a tight contest, with 0.5% and 0.6% outcomes holding the largest shares of market-implied probability amid ongoing uncertainty over inflation momentum. Recent labor-market cooling, combined with prior core CPI moderation, has anchored expectations near these levels, while persistent services inflation and energy-price swings create room for variance. The Federal Reserve’s policy path remains sensitive to this release and follow-on data, with Treasury yields and fed-funds futures reflecting a data-dependent stance. Upcoming retail sales and PPI figures could refine probabilities before the BLS report.
