Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two officially confirmed Grand Theft Auto VI’s standard edition price at $79.99 in June 2026, with pre-orders opening immediately and an Ultimate Edition listed at $99.99. This announcement ended months of speculation that the base game might reach or exceed $100, a figure analysts had floated given the title’s record development costs and cultural anticipation. The $80 tag aligns with recent industry shifts toward higher pricing for blockbuster releases while staying below the threshold traders viewed as risky for consumer backlash. With the November 19 launch approaching and no subsequent adjustments reported, market-implied odds reflect near-certainty that the standard edition will not launch at $100 or more. A last-minute hike remains theoretically possible but faces significant barriers from locked pre-order listings, strong advance demand, and Take-Two’s public positioning of the price as fair value.
