Trader sentiment for year-end levels centers on resilient corporate earnings, with consensus estimates projecting 20-24% EPS growth for 2026 driven largely by AI-related capital expenditures from hyperscalers. Strong August payrolls data exceeding expectations have pushed 10-year Treasury yields above 4.8% and raised odds of Federal Reserve rate hikes, tempering enthusiasm despite solid economic momentum. Key near-term catalysts include September CPI and PPI releases plus the mid-month FOMC meeting, which could clarify the policy path amid elevated inflation readings. Analyst year-end targets cluster between 7,800 and 8,100, reflecting optimism on earnings offset by valuation sensitivity to higher rates.
