**The SEC's May 2026 proposal to permit optional semiannual reporting via a new Form 10-S instead of mandatory quarterly Form 10-Q filings faces steep headwinds that underpin the 81.5% market-implied odds against removal of the longstanding requirement.** Record public comments exceeding 200,000—overwhelmingly negative from investors and advisory groups—highlight concerns over diminished transparency, slower price discovery, and impaired capital allocation, echoing the Investor Advisory Committee's recommendation against the shift. The proposal remains unadopted as of mid-September 2026 with no final rule or effective date, while many issuers signal they would retain quarterly releases to meet exchange expectations and analyst demands. Key near-term catalysts include further SEC review of comments and any potential 2027 adoption timeline, though substantial opposition and structural market preferences continue to anchor trader consensus on preservation of the quarterly regime.

This market will resolve to "Yes" if the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission votes to approve a rule or otherwise formally enacts a policy that removes the requirement for publicly traded companies to file quarterly earnings reports by December 31, 2026, 11:59 PM ET. Otherwise, this market will resolve to "No".
Narrow company or industry specific removals of quarterly earnings requirements will not qualify. Likewise a general removal of the rules which maintains the quarterly reporting requirement for specific companies will qualify.
Any approving vote on a rule change that reduces the requirement to report earnings from quarterly to a less frequent cadence will qualify.
The primary resolution source will be official information from the SEC; however, a consensus of credible reporting will also be used.
