With roughly three weeks remaining in the 2026 MLB season, trader consensus reflects an extremely fragmented field for the runs leader, as multiple players sit within a narrow range of totals and no single contender commands more than a low-single-digit implied probability. Pete Crow-Armstrong’s league-leading pace stems from elite on-base skills and leadoff opportunities in Chicago’s offense, while James Wood, Yordan Alvarez, and Ben Rice benefit from strong walk rates and power that convert into runs in favorable lineups. Late injuries, including Shohei Ohtani’s recent absences, plus variable team run environments and remaining schedule strength, keep the outcome fluid. Small edges in plate appearances, stolen-base opportunities, or hot streaks can still shift the leaderboard before the final out.
