Mercedes holds a commanding lead in the 2026 F1 Constructors’ Championship, fueled by eight early-season wins and consistent double points finishes from Kimi Antonelli and George Russell that built a gap exceeding 80 points over Ferrari. The team’s Mercedes power unit excelled under the new regulations, delivering superior hybrid performance and straight-line speed on varied circuits, while rivals like McLaren and Red Bull Racing lagged in development pace despite occasional podiums. Ferrari narrowed the deficit through Lewis Hamilton’s breakthroughs and targeted upgrades, yet ongoing Mercedes reliability concerns and a tight car-development battle in the second half have kept the outcome from being fully settled. A sustained late surge by Ferrari or McLaren, combined with further Mercedes DNFs, represents the main realistic path to altering the current trader consensus.
